Okay Updated the Title and date.
Who wants to take control of the first Post?
Untill we hear back from Panda.
I could take over .. because I love PDAViet ;-)
Actually ever since you mentioned the memory leak issue, I have started noticing it but it hasn't really bothered me. Pretty fast ROM for all the applications I use.

Hi,
can't access the vietnamese side anymore- they seem to count accesses from certain ip's and cut you off or something like that
Could somebody provide Rapidshare mirror, please.
These were the problems i had with pdaviet 46:
- spb backup funtion "close all tasks before backup" freezes the unit
- .mp4 files with acc audio played the audio only scrambled with coreplayer and tcmp
- hung several times on security screen (pin enter)
fast as hell though :-)

i'd rather PhamQuang found where the bug comes from...
PS just tested on v46

I like this ROM, but it is I can't use it due to a bug that has been in previous versions, where if you use a PIN you cannot unlock the device. I have this enforced by Exchange server policy, so it makes this otherwise great ROM unuseable. I wish they would fix this problem...

How do you guys download from rapidshare?
I could not get the new roms since v45 because the rapidshare links allow me to download a 8KB bullshit instead of the roms...

Just click on Download - don't do Save As or anything. Or try Firefox if using IE and vice versa.

Installed Firefox and it works... Thanks again! (never thought it could happen to IE in this times)

I just tried this ROM. Very fast.
Smart dial works fine, like the new skin.
It also has a new version of battery status advanced.
had to go back to ver 4.2 however as it still has this bug since ver 4.4 where the screen switches itself off after a few mins despite your backlight and power settings. Very frustrating when using tomtom. I would definitely go for it if I didn't use tomtom on my device.
Anybody know where to obtain the new dialler contained in this ROM?
Thanks

I liked this ROM two, but MP3 problem is NOT fixed.
Havent seen the PIN problem, but whenever the phone goes 2 sleep it pauses the MP3 stream. Very annoying.
And the player shortcut at the desktop is removed. Annoying as well.
Thanks for the work ayway.
The Merlot_Diamond_WWE_8MB havent got the MP3 problem as far as I have seen and running with a newer ROM-version.
This Touch II is running as following:
ROM Version: 2.20.707.47B
ROM Date: 07/28/08
Radio Version: 03.07.90
Protocol Version: 4.1.13.51
V47 by PDAVIET.
The Merlot whitch I find a little more stable running is as follows:
Rom Version:2.26.110.51 EPS WWE
ROM Date: 11/22/07 <- think this is an error ?
Radio Version: 03.07.90
Protocol Version: 4.1.13.51
These 2 versions is very similar. Running same speed on my Elf.

No it means the in Bordeaux they don't fake the Rom date.
!Aman!

its very easy to change the ROM date. either it is in a registry at HKLM/software/OEM (which is very easy to change) or it is hard coded into the kernel nk.exe (not so easy to change) ;)

This is indeed very annoying, and shame because the ROM is good otherwise. All the PDAViet ROMS have this problem - I tried the SONBLACK one as well. It is listed on the wiki - http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=PDAViet%20Upgrade%20Tips%20and% 20Tricks - basically don't use this if you need/have to have a PIN..

As PhamQuang decided to remove the HTC Diamond Black theme from his rom
The delimiters appear in blue (beurk) on the today screen.
As I am a nice person, I ripped it from v44 and put it on my ftp for you guys !
here it is http://wuubland.free.fr/files/ppc/HTCDiamondBlack.zip
To install it, just copy the .TSK file to the main memory (ie: \windows\) and launch it.
This will open the Theme selection window and all you need is to select it.
Enjoy ;)

Seemed to me that v47 is slightly less responsive and that battery life was a litlle shorter than it should be!
Anyone noticed anything like that ?

Does anyone know of a fix for the problem with this ROM where it turns off the screen and whatever program is running after 5 mins?
This ROM is by far the nicest looking and most responsive one I have used so far, but with this problem, it is unusable.
I'm sure other people must have the same problem with this ROM - for example, if I am using TOM TOM or Coreplayer or S2P - anything really, after five mins - screen goes off and no sound - ie. my music stops playing or my TOMTOM stops working.
There must be a fix for this. Can anyone help?

I have an odd problem that I cant resolve using the new rom posted here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412753).
I have done loads of searching but cant find the answer.
The ROM has loaded fine and is very nice.
I can access the internet without problems.
I can send and recieve email when connected to my PC via USB.
Fomr the above I assume that my provider settings (T-MOBILE in UK) are correct and so are my email settings.
I tried to have a look at the Provider setting via "Connections Setting" but that give an Error in the database but I think thats a know problem with this ROM.
The Setting I entered for the connection are as posted in this forum for T-Mobile.
When I do a send/recieve the phoen links to T-Mobile GPRS but then after a few moments I get an error "Cannot connect to the incoming mail server. Be certain that the server name is correct, then try again and receive mail"
I am pretty sure that this is a simple issue but I have now spent all day trying to sort it out and failed.
Help ......
Thanks.

This ROM is excellent, I have started to use it as my main ROM.
Only issues are:
1 - CEStar will hang it at the splash screen (don't try this as it forces you to do a hard reset)
2 - All the T9 PhonePad's I've tried to use on it, the space button won't work!
If anyone can suggest an alternative chinese input method (that uses pen strokes)
or found a version of PhonePad where the space button works, please post your answer here to help people with my problem!
Thanks heaps in advance! :)

Trying it now... Spb Backup is REALLY, REALLY slow for some reason during backup. Everything else loads and saves fine to/from the card.
My phone also turned on randomly at 12:15 am ... I had no reminders or incoming texts/calls at that time.. ????
Text messaging also has automatic word completion.. which is really annoying to me, but I guess a registry tweak can disable it.
Hmm.. I'm going back to v47.. I never had any silly issues like these with that version.

I am using this rom version 48 too, everything is just fine. Spb back is working normally. No such problems like yours. Are you using an old spb back up file (version 47) to restore on your newly flashed Elf/Elfin (version 48)???
The main different between this two version is that the drivers are came from newer Elf/Elfin rom version 2.27 but not the older one 2.20.

I will give you my professional opinion.
I don't know what started this rage that you can just port another systems XIP or start using new OEM Drivers without fixing the issues with your old build. So chances are their issues are in the XIP or MetaData folders
PDAVIET does not Cook ELF roms.
They Mainly port a rom to many different devices.
That's it.
They keep using the same stuff and update just a little and clearly are not making a device specific ROM.
Personal Opinion.
I really don't see what's so great about this rom (personal) it is not fast and it is not stable.
I only flash XDA members roms these days now and only comment and help out if need be on those Roms.
Besides Tom, Cloud and that guy that made that X Button App I have never been in contact with anyone of that site.
If I where you guys I would either ask for Their SYS/OEM/ROM folders or extract their Rom and start fixing it yourselves. Now that would make all these New PdaViet Rom threads usefull. Since they aren't using anything that isn't made directly by themselves, it would be doing exactly the same as they do but with the intention of fixing it specificly for the ELF.
I think that they woulnd't mind a little help.
When there's a new PDAviet please post it to the Wiki Rom Updates section where it belongs.
Put some pressure on their balls Or do it yourselves.
I know they are good guys and mean well.

Nope, of course not. That would really screw up the registry. Maybe it is just a combination of programs used that causes these problems in v48.

Thanks for the insight.. I never knew they only ported to different devices. I've seen PDAViet on other forums but I thought they were different (not ported). For my own use, these ROMs are really quick, but yeah they do have their quirks.. although not enough for me to turn away from them.
I'm just learning to cook and maybe one day I'll ask these guys for their source. I'm getting an extra Elfin in a few days so after that I'll probably have more flexibility to experiment. :)

But many times it is the Same rom.
Kaiser is harder to cook for more drivers etc. Elf is in general a safer device to cook for etc. But each device does deserve it's little bit of extra care under the hood. And really just replacing the XIP and MetaData might already solve the issues.

Yeah, another thing I forgot to add was that I've had fewer issues with these ROMs than the others I have tried. Those others were either slow (for me) or had significant problems. e.g. Blue Elves, Shadow, PDAMobiz, UCE. Your mileage may vary, however. I install a lot of apps and have various needs.

Hi, in some way I agree with Noonski, but we are looking for what we think is the best Rom for our toys. I tried a few Roms (Elves v5, Shadow 2.1 TE&CE, and one in spanish from Ciberus), and the Pdaviet v47 and now v48 and I can afirm that the v47 and v48 are the fastest of all. Also I had problems with my car bluetooth with Shadow. I installed Pdaviet v48 today and up to now everything is working fast and perfect, I will do some tests in the weekend and I will post again my results.
BTW I don't like the new skins for phone, calculator and CommManager in v47/8, but I can live with them.
Bye.

i like this rom despite what being said about pdaviet. but i just want to know is there a way to get the qwerty keyboard always shown instead of the blackberry style keyboard? some registry hack maybe? cos right now, everytime i am in input mode, it will always change back to the blackberry style keyboard.
I don't know what happened, but my Rogers stock ROM started going to qwerty style permanently and I couldn't change it back. I didn't like it because it didn't have an Enter key.

I just did a dump of that latest build.
and it has massive memory overlapps.
Looks like modules and files where not re-alocated using g-reloc,
So they are not using Bepe's new kitchen or a new kitchen that has this build in for starters.
And also to many Hermes files still in there.
Hope they are reading this.

Noonski, you've made me think and I decided to flash back (...) Blue Elves' ROM v5.0 after PDAviet's latest incarnation stalled too often and leaked memory all over the place. Best version of PDAViet was v40 as far as I'm concerned.
However, it's true: Swiftblade's ROM is almost as fast, but more stable and less annoying. All apps are just working! Although I don't like the graphics that much, a little too much bloatware and hey, WTF is that LG menu doing there? Anyway, tap-tap-tap and it's all gone... :)
Thank you for opening my eyes. Please do forgive me my sidestep... ;)

I mainly posted it because i've seen many stuff unresolved on this ROM.
I know there's some PDAVIET guys frequenting XDA but not as much XDA.
It can be fixed and clearly there's a big block of users that like this rom.
So the information is only to help, not to flame the PDAVIET guys or ROM.
Or help some users get the it to PDAVIET.
Same here for ELVES rom the Lg Menu is not my cut of beef i flash all roms just so i know which one really is the best, technicly.

I think I noticed some memory issues too in v48. I just re-installed it, and right after restoring my PIMs with PIM Backup, the device was really slow in responding to my stylus taps... it took at least a second to respond to any interaction. I resetted the device and it went back to normal.
I didn't notice this problem in v47 though.
Also, I upgraded to Spb Backup 2.0 so I'm not having those issues with slow backup this time.

Using PDAViet, when I click on the phone-signal strange, speaker, and battery. It does a pop-up menu opening. Is that a new feature that by PDAViet?
I don't recall seeing this feature on other rom dump other than PDAViet, or is that simply a cab file install?

It was there in the other PDA Viets. You mean when you click on the top bar where the volume etc are?

Aaaah well, let's sit around the campfire and tell stories of the old days.
It was extracted by Juvs (if i'm correct, that rusian guy) from a dump of the Touch Dual. It is called EnLargedTitleBar and can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344533
Which was a follow Up of the first thread that started to extract these apps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=336587
And it can be installed as a cab.
;)
Gullum Jumped in and continued the work on the HTC Dual Keyboard and has held supremacy on the later releases of porting the later HTC keyboards. (Koala996 had it working for a few languages)
Juvs has been a bit silent lately but he extracted many more apps from other HTC builds like the network manager and Album (Which got a Browse to, fix by another user and some skin touch ups to correct the portrait lay out and top title bar)
Myself i got a nervous breakdown end ended up selling hotdogs in Madrid and have now been of crack for 6 months ;). I am hoping to go back to work as a history teacher as soon as i read the whole Veda.
PS: i'm not going to change the title unasked but maybe it would be an idea to change the title to something that says "Newest PDAVIET build etc"

Im using V46 PDAVIET and is by far the best rom i used. Some memory leaks (i guess its what it is when it says memory is full and closes opera) but its fair traidoff to get speed of 280mhz in 200mhz. I like the caller scren and stuff. Just great. But i see v48 changed caller screen, so il pass this update.
Hell only things i need on this rom is to change the HTC Home to Costumisable HTC Home (i beleve Shadow rom had it), remove some dummy apps (device lock, display switch, onetierpromnt, psshutxp) and ad totalcmd and s2u2. Someone remove cube completly. Totaly not needed with costumizable htc home. And do sth abaut memory leaks (one app at time and opera gives memory full). For this i would upgrade my phone.

Sometimes, I thought this is the thread for official HTC ROM by mistake.

Okay Updated the Title and date.
Who wants to take control of the first Post?
Untill we hear back from Panda.
You two guys (Mr_Ding) can work together can't you ;).
No matter what people might say or think, but PDAVIET deserves a good Thread on XDA...
But maybe i'll Team up with Abrebekar as sideman to break Mach3:D
You can Give it whatever title you want.
This is a peacefull Take over no Direspect to Panda2020.
Just give a holler when things need to be changed.

HA, ran out of memory today for no apparent reason (no apps were open!). Perhaps I'll heed Noonski's advice and go back to Blue Elves.
Besides, I don't need to keep changing ROMs every couple of days with Blue Elves... (PdaViet v44... v46... v47.. v48..) It may be slower but it's stable enough.

Did you run out with v47 or v48? I switched to HTCTOUCHP Lite a few days ago, and haven't tried PDAViet. But I was okay when using v44 or v47 myself.
Will be great if we can dissect the PDAViet rom, clean up the memory/duplicates and cook it ourselves.

It was v47. I was using v48 until yesterday because I was getting annoyed with the auto-completion in SMS and Contacts creation (was slowing it down!).
We could possibly try cooking it ourselves. I'm a bit of a noob at cooking, I just started though.
I'll try htctouchp on my spare Elfin. Thanks.
