Hello all:
I turned on my AT&T Tilt (8925) and for no apparent reason I got a pattern of red, green, blue and white stripes.

On the red stripe it says:
KAIS1*0 MFG
SPL-1.0.OliPof
CPLD-8

On the white stripe it says "Serial".

It won't go pass the stripes. I performed hardSPL about a year ago if that matters.

Any ideas what's going on? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

try plugging in the cable and turn on the phone, if it says usb where serial was before you should be good to go, you'll probably have to do a hard reset or upgrade your spl and load another rom.

If by hard reset you are referring to taking out the battery, I have already tried that.

Just before the red, green, blue and white stripes there is a brief messege saying: Loading...No image

I am guessing I lost my ROM.
How do I upgrade SPL and install ROM without an ActiveSync connection??

Thank you

Why not start reading the forum. This is covered MANY times.

To upgrade a rom look here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser#ROMx20.Upgrading

To hard reset ( Removing a battery does NOT perform a hard reset ) look here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Resets

If you cant get your phone back up and running, use this as your last resort.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371154

Next time read......... this is ALL on the first page of the Kaiser wiki........

u cant play with spl now cuz u dont have an os therfore not able to run sspl

its weird problem and i think its caused by corrupted rom image... try to flash ur rom - ur device appears unlocked still try to flash a shipped rom att or htc depending on ur device

good luck - u should have ur phone up and running after a flash
btw as soon as u flash - perform a hard reset

use shipped rom
use wm 6.0

Thanks all.
Apparently I have a bad microUSB among other things. The issue with the HTC microUSB is documented here. This may or may not have caused this. I plugged the USB cable as bibobrian suggested and the device moved on beyond the stripes, but problems with microUSB persist. I am going to try to fix it and update you.
Thanks for your help.

I've the same problem, ad although I've tried reading the threads I am techologically challlenged; stoopid.

I've plugged in the XTC via the USB cable and indeed the USB notification replaces the word serial.

However, the hard reset does nothing. It sayd you should do this with the phone not connected or charging, so as soon as I disconnect the cable it reverts to the word serial. Either like this, or still connected, a hard reset just re-generates the three coloured screen.

I guess that I could work my way slowly through the ROM stuff etc, but not until I can hard reset.

Any more sugestions that an idiot like me could follow? Otherwise, it's off to the O2 shop to get it sent off for repair.

Hi Jahrami,

Thanks.

Just tried it but looked like I got a corrupted file through the download as it wouldn't run/unpack. I'm downloading again, and will give it another go when I have it.

I don't usually have much success with these things, so wish me luck! Or it's a 2 week wait for a repair.

Hi Jahrami,

No joy. Can't get an Active Sync connection. This is why my PDA wasn't backed up in the first place, as I haven't been able to get it to connect for months.

I could see it as a storage device, but Active Synch wouldn't recognised it. Possible because I'm using Vista? Can't see it at all now, and just downloaded device centre again.

Off to the flipping shop.....
