have you tried going to start > accessories > connection set up and actually setting up your connection?

any idea were i would find settings for vodafone uk thanks

Try connection setup. If that doesn't work, call Vodafone and ask them.

or, beings that its 2008, you can probably just go to their website just like tmobile lets me do and get the settings.
