Hi,

I proudly announce my next game for devices which have a tilt sensor: G-Invaders. Like Caver (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410178) it uses the tilt sensor to steer the ship and nav sensor (scroll wheel to shoot missiles/bombs).

If you have ideas, which are not on my todo list, please post them here. Thanks!

(Thanks to hdblog.it for the screenshots!)

Game instructions
- Steer the ship by moving the PocketPC (uses tilt sensor)
- Fire missiles by rotating the "scroll wheel" (aka navsensor) anti clockwise
- Fire bombs by rotating the scroll whell clockwise until the polygon around the ship is closed (screenshots will follow or just try it)
- collect weapon upgrades to get better weapons
- collect shild upgrades to repair your ship
- receive new bombs every 500 points
- receive extra lives every 25 shield upgrades
- receive a helper ship every 10 weapon upgrades
- the helper ship fires and collects by itself...
- if you fire a bomb you won't get points or upgrades for the aliens which are killed by the bomb. you also get -100 points. so use it only if you need to...
- if you fire a missile you get -1 points. so don't fire them blindly.
- Online Highscore List at www.ageye.de (http://www.ageye.de)

Hi,

I proudly announce my next game for the Diamond: G-Invaders. Like Caver (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410178) it uses the tilt sensor to steer the ship.

I came to the idea as I saw an example on MSDN - so this is just an adapted game, but I will update and extend it soon...

This is just a preview version... That means, there are no features like score, lives, upgrades, etc. If you have ideas, which are not on my todo list, please post them here. Thanks!

103880 103881

Todo List:
- Count score + Highscore list + Online Highscore list
- Weapon and shield upgrades
- Aliens can shoot
- Ship has more than just one life
- Show ship damage
- Make some levels, more enemies
- Use of the scroll wheel to apply special shields/bombs
- Calibration of tilt sensor

Changelog:
0.1
- First release

Donations so far:
nothing received yet ;)

If you like the game, support it by submitting bugs (just pm me/post them here), by suggesting features or by donating (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations&business=joerg%40jomagese%2ede&item_name=Respect%20my%20work%20%3b%2d%29&item_number=xdadev_ginv&no_shipping=1&no_note=1&tax=0&currency_code=EUR&lc=DE&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF&charset=UTF%2d8)... New version online

I decided to release the 0.2 version now although I couldn't work through the whole todo list. But I added lots of features which make it more playable than the first version so I think you'll have more fun with it!

There is still no highscore list because the next big step will be the creation of more and better levels. It wouldn't make sense to have highscore now recorded which will not be valid in the next version(s).
Therefore there is also no "Game over" sign, but I think you know when you have no more lives left ;-)

The lives are displayed on the lower right corner, on the top of the lives there is the current damage of the ship displayed... On the left side you can see your current score and how many shots you can make.

Please test it and report me how you like it. If you have any ideas which I don't have on my todo list, post them here, too...
THANK YOU!

And by the way: If someone could make some cool ingame screenshots I would be very glad!

If donations don't come in, just try to sell it to a vendor. (unless you're doing this as a hobby -and for the sake of the community) :)

dob't get me wrong, but many Gsen applic's - games are no made or under construction, so plenty of people hope for small donations :p

I have no time to play around, though ..
success further on - hope your game hits the "best of" one day!

Video of the game here:

Could touching the navi-wheel not be used as a fire-button instead of spinning, which is pretty difficult to do when you are also maneuvering around?

well, propably I won't sell it (because I don't know any vendor ;-))
I wanted to keep it free because I thought that at least someone would donate me a cup of coffee or s.th.
But until now nothing happens... this is a bit disappointing. Don't get me wrong! I do this for the community but I thought I get something back...

Thats sad. Let me be the first then, as this game is certainly approaching commercial quality. 5 euros sent your way.

Any chance of getting touching the naviwheel to shoot then ;)

:) THANK YOU!!! :)

I just don't understand 100% your question: do you mean that you fire missiles by just touching the navwheel?

If so, I have to say no, this is not (yet) possible because I only receive rotations to the left or right from the nav sensor...

Yes, thats what I mean. If thats the case (and I know Koush Dutta is saying the same thing) how about mapping it to the actual hard D-pad (up for example)

In the version 0.1 I had mapped the firing to the D-pad but it seemed to lag awfully...
If you wish I can make an option for the next version wether to use D-pad or Navwheel to fire...

I really love this game.

I'm not obsessed with playing for hours, but I appreciate it as part of a new wave of playable games on the mobile platform.

There is some activity on the FPSECE project, so I think we can finally expect version 0.10 to arrive.

I would love to find the time to develop a plugin for mapping the gsensor to analog joystick inputs to FPSECE!

Anyway, 10 euros sent.

wow, at the beginning I thought it was a simple game made as a coding training, but after a while, when I get used with the tilt and nav-sensor it became very very very exciting.
Now I'm playing it very much, I like it. Graphics aren't so beautiful, but this is his main good feature: a simple game but VERY funny!
Compliments, I'm looking for you to develope a new game, you're really good!

New version online: 0.7

Omnia users: Listen!

Koushik Dutta (http://www.koushikdutta.com/) extended his SDK to access other tilt sensors.
Therefore I could implement the support at least for Samsung Omnia (probably also other devices)
I can't test it because I don't have an Omnia - Please test it and report me if it works! Thank you

Fun little game that is quite addictive! Just got my Touch Pro and was surprised to see so few games out that utilize the g-sensor, but luckily came across your games while checking out GAlarm (another good app). Your website is also quite nice and I really like the online high score lists. A little competition is always a good thing, right? ;)

About the only thing missing is a help option explaining the scoring. For example, I didn't realize that I lost a point for every missile I shot! Definitely makes it more challenging than your typical shooter game...

Thanks for the fun and a small donation has been made to show my appreciation.

Yes, I can attest that it works great on the Touch Pro!

In addition to my request for a page explaining the scoring, I would like to see the following minor changes:

- pause function accessible from the center d-pad instead of tapping on screen (just seems more natural)
- some way of knowing how much more damage must be inflicted upon the different aliens (for example, so we don't use a bomb when just one or two more missiles would be enough)

Sorry ageye, this is off topic but:

By the way:what is FPSECE?

WoW! where can i follow the development?

I will update this forum if make any progress.

At the moment, I've got as far as building some gsensor test apps. The FPSECE devs say that you will be able to easily write plug ins.

To be honest, I'm hoping someone else will develop some kick ass gsensor apps suitable for g-enabling existing games/emus. Gcontroller and gremote have come close but nothing yet that works for gaming how it should.

Any takers? ageye? :)

It would be nice if support for the Touch HD could be implemented.

Besides the screen size, the other main problem is going to be with firing!

New version released: v0.8

It finally offers a better support for WQVGA/WVGA devices. Also you can now switch between three fire modes:
scroll wheel, dpad (which are only available on the diamond) and softkeys (for all devices with no dpad)

Having a lot of issues with the new version...
Using an Omnia and wasn't able to shoot the bomb using the d-pad so was glad I could with the soft keys, but now there is serious lag and the game crashes very often...
Hope you get it fixed, because I love this app!
If the program makes a log file or something and you need it, just ask...

Announcement: Please read

Dear users,
we made a fantastically way which started here. In the great community of xda-developers.com
I love this forum and its user but unfortunately after over 3000 posts about my software (yeah!!) it has become soooo hard to reply to all of your questions / ideas / bug reports because one topic per tool is just confusing...

That's why I uploaded my own forum to my server and I recommend you to post your problems / ideas there. There is more space for it and I'll be there more often!

Thank you for everything! I hope you understand this decision and I'll see you over there!

Some of you know me and my tools since the beginning and support my way through all ups and downs. I need some moderators over there who keep the forum clean and move the posts to the right locations. If you're interested, just register and pm me.

If I ever release a new tool, this community will be the first to know ;)
