Tried it last night, interesting. Anyone spot the redundant pictures. I noticed 2 very large themometers one cold and one hot that we do not use. I suspect there are others.

I am assuming that once you have perfected the conversion to QTC we will be able to simply rename an icon of our liking (keeping it the same size of course) to the manila file name and slowly replace icons i.e. customisation.

Anyway like the direction, like the possibilities, great work and thank you.

Blazeitup123, it's a version 0.0.2 of the editor, so there's no much features yet. Or you preferer that we release nothing until version 1.0 (complete SDK)? ;)

I'd rather go through the progress step by step like now. At last some one is doing this. Hope the graphics conversion will be easy. Can't wait to make a custom manila theme. That way I get to share something as well. Best of luck with the project.

My guess ? Manilla is generic and made for all HTC devices, and someday soon you'll find some HTC xDA with a thermometer on it. Wether it's the Diamond or not, I have no clue. But that'll be nice :D

Yes. If my app would able to directly open the files on the diamond you had to wait many hours to see the images, because accessing the windows-directory is very slow.

Copy the manila-files to your pc or download them anywhere.

Hey guys,

have a look at 60f72df8_manila.

This is included in ALL themes, so there is still one more hidden tab (like call history).

We need the name for it so we can activate the tab :)

known pages are "home.page", "messaging.page", "weather.page", etc. we need the name "???.page" for what 60f72df8_manila standing for.

When will release the "png-->*_manila" function? This function will be released along with Manila Theme Editor.
There's a few things that s/b done before then:
- Make sure png->qtc / qtc -> png is 100% correct.
- Complete this list (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Manila_Research).
- Make a PC-Preview of themes.

I downloaded the t-mobile cab file and compared the manila files from this to the files from black clock mod and renamed the t-mobile files.

Only playing a bit arround and trying. But no renaming anymore, just found out the theme files are extractable.

Have you found out anything with the hidden tab? In the t-mobile manila theres another activ tab.

Just copy the files to the windows dir.

The Chunghwa tsk file is also included, just change it on the today settings.

Just wait until I add this feature to Manila Editor, because then it would be much easier to create those *.theme-Files instead of doing this manually.

Well we hope we could add a
1.Tasks tab (there is a tasks logo from the HTC touch pro)
2.Omnipresence tab (vista logo)
3. Google Earth tab
4. Diamond TV tab (maybe, considering it is payware)
5. IM tab or
6. RSS tab

then we will have the perfect phone

Congrats to you both guys. Like someone phrased, seems some Pandora's box inside the Diamond got opened :-)

Seems we can put SPB Mobile Shell soon aside us for UI modding and decent VGA support. Hope you can crack the conversions 2QTC soon.

nobody seems to be reading old dev thread, so i'm posting some
HOT NEWS here :)

Great thanks to my friend, Funbit, who aquainted me with IDA - the best disassembler/debugger ever, I've cracked down path hash also, so we:
- are one step closer to manila programming/extending, coz we can add extra files now
- will have a convenient theme editor/creator for any ROM, coz now we can just rip out all .qtc paths from .mode9 files and then convert them to manila-native hashpaths

Stay tuned ;)

Copy all _manila files to your computer then use Total Commander to change the attribute...

or download a theme and use ex. winrar to unpack the _manila files to a folder on your computer...

No, you cant edit the files yet... Thats what they are working on with the Manila Editor...

You can only rename the different _manila files
for ex. the bluetooth icon is '1831bbe5_manila', if you copy and rename that file to '032a0546_manila', it will show a bluetooth icon instead of the little house in 'home' tab...

Manila Editor is not finished yet and end-users are not able to change the theme yet!

At this time this thread is more for developers instead for noobs.

That's the reason why I put the thread to "ROM Development" and not to the other category where everyone is looking for new stuff.

If we release a version of Manila Editor which can easily change the theme and can create a *.theme-File for TF3D Config we will tell you this ;-)

So if you have questions about replacing the _manila-Files or asking if it is required to make a backup, please use the search or create a new thread :-)

FYI

But the manila files are located in \Windows\ directory (Hidden Files). If you want to see the manila files with manila editor, you must copy them directly on your PPC with Total Comander or Resco Explorer for example on Internal Storage and after, copy them on your computer.

You will be able to search the path with manila editor and show them

Are your manila files flagged as read-only? Maybe this causes the error you got. Tomorrow i will release a version, which remove the read-only-flag before replacing. For now, please try to remove the flag "Read-only" and maybe "System".

Make a empty image with full transparency.

In the future it would be possible to edit the home.mode9-File so that you really can remove the bar or rearrange all graphis in a different order :-)

Wow, what a nice app! This means you can change the default background (black with grey blocks; in the HTC Black theme) to anything you would like right AND it will be shown on each page in TF3D?

If so, I'll definatly have to check this app out. Will check it out later though.

little (2c) suggestion.
I've seen that there is a section of "frendly" name...
Maybe there will be usefull if, when it will filled with names, will be "coded" in a certain way, like

wheather - sun01
wheather - sun02
...
phone dialer - blablabla
...

In this way will be easier to sort files :)

We will parse the original filenames out of the mode9-Files.

So you will see in the friendlyname-column values like "background.qtc", "012.qtc" (for clock), "titlebar.qtc", "dottedline.qtc", etc. :)

This was our first idea, but why to do hard work with naming the files, if we can get all filenames out of the mode9-files? The original-filenames (without hashing) are very friendly named so that everyone understand what the file is for and you all don't need to sharing a xml-file, because each time you will select a path the friendlynames will parsed just in time out of the mode9-files in your selected path.

Because you have to change DPI to 96 in photoshop. The exported files have a DPI of 72.

oooooooook!
I'm not a lover of wasted time! ;)
If you're telling me that the name are friendly, I trust you! :D
The editor will just create a "template" xml file out of your manila files (just seeking & saving all .qtc references it finds). You will then be able to edit that xml manually :)

Use these files!

I don't understand. It's a 1 pixel backgroundpattern and a mode 9 file. What do I need to do to actually get a background in there. The default background of the HTC Black theme is black with grey boxes. I want to change that one. Are these the files I need to change? If so, where are the grey boxes?

Use these files!

Only one file can displayed on Manila editor: 2bd5bb26_manila, other one no.
you can see the result in the att.
it seems not to be a background.
thanks in advance for managing this topic!!!!

edit: ooohps!!!! sorry, now i have see the difference between the two file but still confused about how to use it. only one line no background image.

Have a look at the registry (HKLM\Software\HTC\) ;-) Or look at the changetheme.xml in my *.theme-Files, after that you know how to change all those color values ;-)

In my *.theme-Files. You can find it in the theme-thread.

Sorry, I would like to help you, but i have no time at the moment to search for all the reg-keys.

In HKLM\software\htc\enlargestartmenu you find the color values for startmenu, also you can define a background image for the start menu. there is also a simular reg key for the tast-manager.
