Hiya,
I used to use my XDA as a phone/pda/etc but along the way decided to upgrade my phone and got tired of lugging the XDA around all the time.

Anyway, I'd like to still use it just as a wireless enabled pda but still have to go through all the start up hassle of it thinking that it's still a phone.

Is there a way of doing something to the XDA lli so that it will start and operate just as a wireless enabled pda without prompting for sim cards, etc.?

many thanks,
Michael

The really easy way is to get PAYG SIM and never put any credit on it. The Alpine stops moaning and you never have to shell out any money.

and thank you deedee for your thoughts. Yes that is an easy and relatively painless way forward. If I can't find a way of 'amputating' all memory of being a phone (crikey, that sounds savage) then I'll go the dead SIM route.

Not sure if you are UK based or not, bu tif you are then Orange and T-Mobile make it fairly painless to get SIM cards for free. Tesco are another easyish freebie as is O2, actualy if push comes to shove PM me an address and i will post you one. Wouldn't go the O2 route as their SIMs tend to get bored if activated and then not used and they whinge eventually.
