View Full Version : Easy way to stop screen blank on making call...

After messing with reg tweaks to no avail, I came upon this solution to stop the screen going black after making a call and putting the phone to you ear.
I don't know if anyone has made this suggestion before, because I'm too lazy to check.
Before pressing the call button, place your thumb (or other digit) over the light sensor on the top of the phone. Then make the call.
I suppose as a permanent (although ugly) hack you could black out the sensor area with some tape or something.

Hi paulkorosi,
You could also try Diamond Tweak (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409540) and play with the # 1.3 tweak.

:) Sweet - I missed the light sensor setting in the registry - works an absolute treat... Many thanks.
And here I was thinking I'd come up with my very own bio-hack.
Now all I need to do is work out how to get numbers and arrow keys to display on the keyboard like most other pda's and I'd be over the moon.
Cheers,
me.

Trouble is this tweak does not work for a lot of Diamonds. I have the light sensor disabled via Tweak #1.3 and it is not really disabled at all. Also tried placing my finger over the sensor before making the call and the screen still blanks. I am starting to suspect a hardware/phone specific factor to this issue. I have never been able to prevent blanking with 5 different ROMs and trying numerous cominbations of the 5 different registry tweaks floating around these forums.

Hmm - I only tried the thumb thing after changing some registry settings as per the tweaks post, as well as messing with another one - HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\FastDormancyRule - set to zero, mind you, I have no idea what this actually did. It certainly didn't blow anything up.
Maybe check the registry for the tweaks as per the tweaks thread (HKEY_Local_Machine\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\EnableFast DormantDisplayDuringCall and HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone\Sleep) and then try the diamond tweak app again??? (You've prolly already done that anyways)
DUH - I just read the rest of your post - you've already done all that.

Make sure you have keyboard selected and not qwerty.
