Can anyone with HTC Branded Serial download this:

It used to check this a lot and it's fresh since they redsigned their update pages a day ago.

Let's see what this puppy holds.

Let's hope for Jblend Java and maybe just a little maybe the official wm6.1 goodness.

Please report which language versions work and which version number it has so we can check it with the available list we already have.

DO NOT GO OFF AND FLASH IT TO THE DEVICE.

It will take any cook using HyperCore 15 minutes to make a version without the SPL and IPL.

Would not be the first time HTC updates the SPL and IPL with new security Methods.
Just being precautious.

Might even be that the updates aren't even that new.

It might just be that they added the new Lay Out and Download for nothing.

It might also be that it will be tied down to serials from a specific Region.

And they only made some sort of announcement to american market getting WM6.1 upgrades. But those are mostly Vogue's.

Why put up a new Download Button and not have any.

Might Frickin Be indeed, that they added the module to every device, but not have the downloads in database for the device.

...just as we guessed, their servers had gone bonkers, since they are trying to roll out upgrades to all devices except carrier devices.

last nite were able to see a page where we could enter a serial to get to the ROM download (which was of coz denied!!)

and now today if you look again and press the ROM update for elves..

There are currently no software downloads available in this category.

They could have build this baby weeks if not months ago.

And they have believe me but they want non CDMA Touch owners to upgrade.

The most important ain't even the WM6.1 upgrade.

It's if they have adjusted/update the device Drivers and DLL files to Work better with WM6.1

We can do a lot, use drivers from older version and they seem to work without issues.

It might even be that the drivers do not even need any changes or updates at all. Technicly we all know there should be no reason there ain't an official Touch WM6.1 Update.

They also put a Press release on their site (don't have the link at hand), stating that WM6.1 updates would be made available for Touch in the american market.

But it looks like this is only for CDMA devices which arived later then the Original touch

That was my dumped ROM.. It is basically the Operating System dumped from my Rogers branded Elfin. Since Rogers do not have an official update ROM, I had to dump it from my own phone.

The main difference between the dumped ROM and original/official ROM is that the official ROM can be used to unbrick a CID-locked phone that is stuck in bootloader, if the DEVICE ID + CID of the ROM match the phone. You can't do this with dumped or cooked ROMs since they're not signed.

EDIT: the one you uploaded also includes IPL/SPL/ExtROM/GSM/Splash. SPL is 2.20.0000, IPL is 2.20.0002. Not sure about Radio Version, as I have not flashed anything yet. Device ID = ELF0100*0, CID = HTC__J15

Dumped 2.2 roms can go unto ELF and ELFIN.

Not sure about undumped original Dumps (out of not e=seeing it with my own eyes and not being on Bricked my phone threads enough)

Yeah could have phrased that in a better way, was quickie right before leaving for work

i really see no diff between 6 and 6.1
thats why i stopped using cooked rom till i find something like dioxda2 prophet roms that guy is awsome at cooking

i ove the cube thing it seems usefull while driving

6.1 has better Memory management and what looks to be quicker handling of the ROM partition making overal performance a bit quicker.

Maybe seperating The Taskmanager from euhm ,.. i even forgot what it was binded to (oh yeah it was storage). But at least removing it does not influence performance. They replaced/combined all the driver to be handled by a new one. This is not fact this is a conclusion taken from how the Boot.rgu file now revers to euh initvmap.exe, i think..

If anyone has the exact explanation, please share, i don't want this to be taken as 100% information just because i think so.

All the rest that is new is just Bling.

Those use 6.1 from other devices such as the Touch Diamond, the Kaiser, the Sony Xperia 1, and so forth.

No one has been able to obtain an official 6.1 ROM for the Touch GSM yet.

Essentially Windows Mobile ROM's are portable amongst all Windows Mobile devices, hence all HTC PDA Phone devices.

So You can pretty much take the core from any WM Pro phone, tweak it, and cook it to your phone, which is cool.

I have been using parts of that rom, his Big storage came from an official HTC build.

But 2.26 and 2.27 Builds have come out before and after that build.

We mostly only use the XIP parts from other phone builds.

OEM part is as much as possible from any original ELF build.
And SYS parts can also come from almost any device, this is where most the new stuff like threaded SMS, Taskmanager and Welcome will reside.

So the most important part of any new Touch build found is the contents from the OEM part. As it is likely to hold updated Drivers.

But Tabi13's Build did have a some settings referring to 2.27 (or was it 2.26) Very good build close to a stock rom but without 6.1 goodies.

How could you have done this unless you obtained the actual ROM.

Not to be condesending...but are you sure you did not just use the 6.1 ROM kitchens available.

Those use 6.1 from other devices such as the Touch Diamond, the Kaiser, the Sony Xperia 1, and so forth.

No one has been able to obtain an official 6.1 ROM for the Touch GSM yet.

Essentially Windows Mobile ROM's are portable amongst all Windows Mobile devices, hence all HTC PDA Phone devices.

So You can pretty much take the core from any WM Pro phone, tweak it, and cook it to your phone, which is cool.

But I still would much rather have an official update from HTC!!! (Man they are getting lazy!)

This ROM turned out to be 2.20.456.1b which was already available previously. Its not 6.1
Its a 6.0 Rom with BIG STORAGE and variable Pagepool settings

But Making a WM6.1 Rom would be a lot easier then fixing the Graphics driver.

But it does also shine the light why many turn to XDA.

I think this is a mix-up on the part of HTC. If you go the HTC Touch CDMA (Vogue) section, it says this if you go to the Rom Upgrade:

"There are currently no software downloads available in this category."

Of course we know there was already a 6.1 update for Vogue users, so why is it saying there aren't any?

HTC hasn't hinted that 6.1 will be out for the GSM version of the Touch. As someone else has mentioned, they must have mixed up the Vogue with the Elf. How sad.


BTW, I've tried punching in the serial number for both my English and French Rogers Elfins, but no luck.
