I a week i am about travelling through Europe. From Denmark to Italy. I wanna use TomTom7 and my Diamond as Navigator. I thought about using the inbuilt USB plug in my car. But im only allowed to use 500mA. Does someone know how much power Diamond uses when plugged in USB and GPS active?

Look under the gps threads. You will surely experience some sort of collaps after 4-5 hours as the TD runs hot and stops charging. The trick is to place it so it can stay cool and let it rest (switch off and let it recharge) while you rest on the way. I'll advise you to consider a second battery as it will collaps just as you need it the most.

Edit

And do get a proper car recharger as well as the spare bat (e.g. Happii.dk sells both battery and the original HTC car charger CU S170 cheap - I got mine there and it features the HTC logo rather than the usual LED - cool. Also the pouches are more than cheap there should you need one).

Just place it in front of an air conditiong vent and you will probably be OK. When in doubt: check if the LED-circle around the centre button is flashing or burning (this can be tricky to see in bright sunlight).

Indeed - You'll get involved in an accident (in which case it dosn't matter if the phone is charged or not). The problem with iGO8 (my navigation) is it has a remaining bat. bar which shows full bat. in blue when connected to the car charger, even when it does not charge (I verified this by looking at the absence of the blue ring). Putting in fron of the vent is quite imposible not to say inconvient location, but a fan might do. I am also not sure if condense could become a problem.

The car charger gives between 1 A to 1.5 A depending on brand.
