I am pleased to release the latest updated version of our weather for wm 6.1.

I have spent lots of hours with Showaco revamping the layout. We are please to see that our old cab had hundreds of downloads, so we're pretty sure you are all gonna love this.

Check it. We have gotten rid of a forecast panel that messes up the layouts for one of your other panels. We went with a complete revolution to the way you display multiple full screen panels, with different info, and pics. Guaranteed no other weather exists like this for your WM6.1 smartphone.

We hope you like it alot. This new forecast will switch between your current homescreen, no matter what it is, EVEN IF IT IS NOT ONE OF OUR LAYOUTS!!! That's right, if you mod your screen, but still want to use the forecast panels, no problem. Just go to the link in your start menu, and it will switch to our forecast panels, and press on any of the forecast days or their right soft key, and BAM. You are right back to your original homescreen. So you can use one of the several layouts we preset for you, or you can make your own. If you do, I highly suggest using Showaco's CPR and DLL switcher app. It is very sweet for us, modders.

Below are instructions on how to install and how to use. Same as before, there are layouts for 5 day,4,3,2 day, and Current Day forecast for the clock, as well as layouts with a monitor with background for the clock or without. I have added several new options in the advanced options menu. One of which is to enable audibles during updates. So, if you want, you can have auditory announcement during the updating process. Use if you want or not. The possibilites are becoming endless.

LOOK AT POST #33, FOR MORE PICS OF OTHER ADDITIONAL LAYOUTS!!!

NOTE: I have added a new homescreen layout for windows mobile 6.1 standard. It is a sliding panel with media homescreen. It is just set up best for our new app. So, just go to the homescreen layouts section at any time and choose, kennys sliding panel. That's it. Your phone will be complete.


Instructions:

******MAKE SURE YOU READ THE UNINSTALL NOTES & BACKUP YOUR REGS BEFORE INSTALLING, IF YOU ARE UNFAMILIAR************

1. Download the cab from xda site from link below.

2. Copy the cab to your smartphone.

3. Navigate, using your phone, to the place that you copied the cab, and click on the cab's icon.

4. You will then automatically begin installing the application.

5. Once install is complete, go to ODSHOWeather Options in your start menu and set up all of your options.

6. Reboot if needed.

7. If weather update has not already been completed at this point. Run weather update. If you are not sure where to start it,
just press on any page in the forecast panel, or access it through your start menu.

8. Enjoy!!!


Uninstall Notes:


If you wish to uninstall the weather app, instructions are as follows:


1. Go to settings and remove programs. Once in remove programs, select the ODSHOWeather WM6.1 Weather

2. It will uninstall, it takes up to a few minutes.

3. If any settings are messed up. Update your regs from before install.

4. To remove start menu links, just navigate using explorer on your phone or pc to remove the lnk to our app. That's it.

5. For any further questions, just Post or pm Outerdepth or Showaco on the xda forums.


Usage Instructions:

1. We have set the clock right soft key to switch to the forecast panels, press it to switch to those.

2. To return to your homescreen, just press the center button on any of the forecast panels or their right soft keys.

3. The radar, hurricane, and air quality pages have center button (actionurl) linked to the apps that update those.

Thanks for the input man. I appreciate it. It is very busy if you have the monitor, but not much busier than it would be with iconbar up top. That has about the same amount of plugins as mine, but I have included a battery meter and system monitor. It's all on one line, just like the iconbar, and with the iconbar removed from the top, it takes up the exact same amount of space. I am sorry to hear that you don't like the busy-ness of it. Just so you know the monitor is an addon. If you don't like it, there are two other layouts without it. So no need to hate. Anything else? That was a really short reply, no other ideas? Well, if you think of something else, please, feel free to respond.;)

Hey dude, good to hear from you. I haven't heard from you in a while. It's nice to know you are still around. I hoped you would like the newly updated weather app. I notice you obviously think it looks too busy for you as well, cool. No need for the monitor, that's cool, I know you already have one anyways. I am thinking about making the different plugins for the monitor optional, so you can pick which ones you want and don't. great app! I do have a question/concern...

After I installed it and did several updates, the temperatures for the 5 day stayed the same for a while, but after a few times, they finally adjusted to todays date, but with the same temps as before. Example: for wednesday it said low was 72 and high was 98, after updating it said friday was 72 - 98 even though the sliding forecast panel had the high on friday being 86.

Also, the temp. reading next to the clock stayed at 82 degrees all day and still hasn't went up or down. I live in the south and I know when it isn't 82 lol.

Any help would be appreciated!

No problem, if you open your reg editor and go to HKLM\Software\Outerdepth\KPWeather, find the entry that says: fupdate.

Change that value to 1. It will run the app in its entirety. This will then reload your screen at the end of the update. What happens on this fupdate=1, is your phone runs the update for the forecast panel.

We didn't want to update the forecast panel on every update, because it adds time to updating the weather, so we have it set to update the forecast days on every 8 times, this updates the forecast panel, and the forecast icons and data on the clock panel. Sorry for the confusion.

I live in the south as well, Memphis, TN. It has horrible temps here, so I understand. I am not sure about it not updating these values for you.

PM me, and we will get to the bottom of this, quickly I am sure. Sounds like a refresh problem that's all. We will get to the bottom of this. Just pm me.

This is for everyone, if you are having trouble getting the forecast icons to change at 1st, look at the previous post, this should update them once you run weather update. I will also upload a reg key for this. It is located below.

Sorry for any confusion. I will make the updated cab fix this, so when you 1st install it, there is no problem. For now, just download this reg key below, install it by clicking on it in your explorer, then run weather update. Thanks.

I have to. I messed up and left some pngs out of the cab for the storage card. It will not update the forecast icons on the clock panel, so this cab fixes that. Everything else should be good. Sorry for any inconveniences.

I have tried everything under the sun to keep this app smooth. Sorry for wasting time for anybody. This is the breaks when writing software. I am glad though, to see that people don't give up. Hope you all enjoy the app!!

'No data available' - I am disconsolate. :(

I've checked the settings, reset the phone, checked the settings, burned offerings, bought it a beer; to no avail. The cat's made itself scarce again ... :D

So. What have I stuffed-up? :confused:

Does it just need more beer? Or something much more fiendishly clever?

I do like the system bar, although a Bluetooth icon appears even if BT is switched off.

I am glad the new cab seems to have fixed all probs. I want to add that there are other digits you can use that are in your storage card. They vary in color. You can customize this with these. For now, until I get this as an option. You can just copy the digits in any of the digits folders, and paste them over the originals. Then reupdate the weather to see your reflected changes.

There are many to choose from. Hope you enjoy.:cool:

It could be done by addng a current conditions page to the forecast panel. But not with multiple days on one page, only current for one page and each forecast day with its own page.

Another way is I could write you something that you could map to a key which would let you show and hide clock weather with the push of a button. The change would take a couple of seconds it wouldn't be instant.

can this be done already? I enabled full version of display but still get current conditions on the carrier plug and forecast on it's own panel.

Nice work to the coders for creating a great weather application. Have a question about the battery life running this app. Has anyone noticed less battery time because of the frequent updates on the phone?

Also, anyway to stop the flashing text with the barometer and author info? Is it possible to move the author's signature from the homescreen to the setup? Just a few comments, hope you don't mind.

The newest release of this program does appear to have a problem with the uninstall. Tried to uninstall and the home screen was messed up and missing information. Also got error messages with the program looking for startup files after the uninstall. Had to re-flash the phone.

Get a copy of spb backup and you wont have to reflash phone do a backup @ every big change you make.

1. i restored to a stable backup then installed the 1.0.2b without sys monitor. i also noticed left over notifications after uninstall. the app lacked the clean notifications setting which I saw in 1 of the other weather apps I tried. may be this can be added for ease of uninstall?

2. so this build uses accuweather instead of rpxx017 codes [dunno how the codes are called]?

4. I have rolled back to 1.0.2b for the meantime. is it possible to disable all the changes [no weather or sys mon] to the cclock for both portrait and landscape, and have the weather be displayed on it's own panel only? Maybe have the option for it in future releases?

Dual display: curr cond on CClock forecast CPanel1 [how it is now]
Full display: curr cond/forecast on CPanel1, CClock is system default [can be added as an option]

Hey this is Outerdepth. I have been working on some fixes for this app. I know that if you do use the settings page, that the pictures are messed up. I have fixed pictures for all your settings pages. I will be coming out with an updated cab in a few days. Hopefully by this weekend. Also, I have made this to where you screen is not so full of stuff. Feather Weather is a great app and for the same reasons it is nice, I am going to prune this app. I have got it looking great so far.

I am also finishing up a new app that will spice up your weather for your phone and be some neat eye candy to show your friends.

As I mentioned earler, I have worked out all of the bugs, I believe. I will include a more user friendly installing cab and hopefully an exe. I will have a short readme and a detailed one if needed. There will be 5,4,3,2, and Current only layouts with and without the monitor for this weekends cab.

As far as the monitor is concerned, I have noticed battery life draining faster. All I can say for now, is get the extended battery, or don't run the monitor if you are having any battery drain issues. I will look into this further, but for now. That's all I have.

I just wanted to make it clear to you and for everyone else, that I use the 5 day. Look at the other possible layouts below. Some have backgrounds, if you desire to have them. We have tons of other layouts to choose from again, so don't knock it til you try it. It is very user configurable. Enjoy all.

Most of those pics on post 1 are of the second homescreen, since with the new app you now have two homescreens with a seperate cpr for each, so no, you don't need wallpaper for the second homescreen. Only for your first primary homescreen.:D

EDIT: I noticed some cpr issues with the days being displayed for 4,3,2 day in the clock panel. All things good, now. Cab reuploaded in the 1st post.

So far, in the past 2 days I have had over a total of 40 downloads of this new app. I have had 3 people post something basically, that have downloaded the program.

All of these posts given are greatly apprecitated, but I wish, especially since the app is free, that people post what they think. Also, if you have any probs running scripts from this cab, install mort from our link, this doesn't appear to be affecting everyone's phone, just some people, so that being said, Showaco and I are at a standstill as to figuring out why this is randomly happening. Until we get some further feedback, we cannot do anything as of yet, other than to tell you to download Mortscript.cab. Install it, and then try the app again. So please, give us some feedback. Ok I have done everything you guys have suggested and still can't get it to work...When I go to Program Files/Outerdepth/ there is no KPweather folder don't know what the problem is. Really would like to use this but until I can figure it out I will go back to the latter....Thanks for your help

I think I know what the problem is, YOU don't have any program files! :D Sorry, must be a problem with the cab install, can you try reinstalling, if it still doesn't give you the kpweather folder, then post again, and outerdepth can send you a zip with the files.:)

OK, well I do have a KPWeather folder, however it is empty. I found the files in Program Files/Outerdepth/ . I then copied the 2 files to the KPWeather folder and ran mortscript.exe. I don't get the error anymore, but I still can't get to the forecast panel. Is there supposed to be other files in the KPWeather folder? Thanks!

Also, after reinstalling again, I get the following message: The program you have installed may not display properly because it was designedfor a previous version of Windows Mobile software. I am using WM6.1 By Kavana

First of all, with OD's new weather app, it has a lot of corruption in the fles. I had to borrow mscr files from a older OD weather app version to get things working correctly. Another thing, I was not interest in all the features OD's new weather app had to offer. I only wanted the hurricane map, radar map and the loop on the homescreen, that's it, I can do without the rest. OD you still have a lot of work to do to get this app right, you are doing a good job, just don't give up on this app, hang in their...............!;)

I think I know what the problem is, YOU don't have any program files! :D Sorry, must be a problem with the cab install, can you try reinstalling, if it still doesn't give you the kpweather folder, then post again, and outerdepth can send you a zip with the files.:)

Hey guys, I guess my brain went to lunch when I made this cab. I screwed up on item location for you phone itself. I got everything ordered correctly.

If you after you install this new cab, if there are files in the Outerdepth folder on your phone that are also in your Outerdepth\KPWeather folder, feel free to delete the ones in the Outerdepth folder, not the ones in the KPWeather folder.

Remember, this is only necessary if you have duplicates, so don't worry if you don't.:cool:

1) Its actually already installed on both main and storage the way the outerdepth split it up.
2) You have to reinstall another cpr to change icons and panels back to normal size.

I appreciate the kind words. Once I get a "feel" for what everyone likes as far as layout are concerned, I will update screen layouts, but for now, what you see is what you get.

I am working on a new app currently that will change the way sliding panels looks on the homescreen. I have got a functional layout right now, that will allow the user to change the icons I have default for the layout to any of their choice. I will post a screenshot later.

I hope this new cab solves everyones problems. If there are any issues, please feel free to let me know. If there is any praise, please let me know. Take it easy.

If you still have mortscript, you can run this script and it will set it back to contacts and change clock icon back to original.
If not, you can change it manually in the registry. Setting SK2TEXT to "Contacts" and SK2URL to ":MSCONTACTS"

1. I'll check into it with outerdepth, and see if they need to be big for some reason.
2. Look in options and there should be an options for changing right soft key on the clock panel, one which should be for contacts. You can also use the reg hack to set your contacts back to right soft, but don't use the zip file I posted, as that will change your clock panel icons to originals and lose the weather icon.

Here is a zip that has all of the settings panel icons in it. Just drop them where they need to go, should be your \Windows folder. Hope these solve your problem.

outerdepth, love the last version youve done, you two are genius'. however I prefer the last version, just a personal preference. the second screen with the daily weather just isnt for me. but I want to thank you for the work youve done, and I show it off to all my friends.

I do have a question though.

I couldnt get it to work for either version, the Monitor...just doesnt work...I have the icon bar on the home screen but other then that nothing else.

Also, is the hurricane panel supposed to play an animated gif or show just a hurricane png file?

hey caesar, your missing the forecast cpr or its not loading. the forecast cpr is what gives the panel the fullscreen effect instead of the normal sized panels your seeing. I believe the name of the cpr is fullscreen.cpr and should be in the application data folder, check that first and let me know if you have it. If its not there, check to see if its in one of the outerdepth folder on main or storage card. If it is, try moving it to application data.

sorry, but your missing more files. I'll send them to you. The freeram you can delete, it was to some app outerdepth was using to free up ram on his phone.

Is there a way to set an interval time for the auto updates as it seems like it updates very often on "auto" so I have to use the manual feature instead. I looked through all features and did not find a way to set a time i.e once a day etc.

Ok, there are several different apps available that will take screenshots, the one I use is Screen Capture(attached below). I would like to see a shot so I can see how to help on the small images.
On the main screen problem, do me a favor and look in your \program files\outerdepth\kpweather folder and see if you have CHomeRefresh.exe in there.

It runs invisible,basically. If your in file explorer and run it, it will probably be finished before you ever get back to homescreen. Did you unzip that file and put it in windows? Any luck? The pics you showed me are the same problem txcaesar had. Your getting the forecast screen to show, but it has the wrong cpr layout, grab the cpr file from post #83 and put in \application data\ folder. That will fix that. The other cpr i posted a couple of posts above this one should give you a five day forecast on your clock panel. Don't worry about the chomerefresh.exe, it will run when you go to the forecast screen , and once again you when you come back. After you copy both cprs where they go, then click the forecast button, check it, and then return to homescreen and check it.

OK, well I did copy the chome_320x240 file to the /windows folder (by the way I also have a file called chome_240x320 there also). I have also copied the fullscreen.cpr to the /application data folder. Still no 5 day forecast on my clock panel. I have also rebooted twice and run the weather update twice.:(

sorry, but its not compatible with the wm professional, which is why you can't install it. I've been working on setting it up to work with Homescreen PlusPlus on my tilt. If there's not one, you can add one: Sleep (500). You can also put the character # in front of the line to skip that line, but you might have to manually close PIE after update.

its brand new, ya all the options work, ive been trying the old trial and error, got the location to update.. but screwed up the panel look, looks like sh!t, want to change to the original sliding theme, cant figure it out.. all i see are cursive font thats way to small to be read.

thank you Showaco, and I'm sorry for not being specific. it happens when I run the radar update but NOT when I run the Hurricane update. I see IE coming up, but it just stays at the homepage, (in my case, google) and not going out to the accuweather site..and it just sits there, and then finally that error comes up.

Guys first I would like to say this is one sweet application. One of the first things I applied after upgrading to wm6.1 on my Q9h.

But like most in here, I have large panel icons now. Installed the icons in the zip file on page 8, but still they are huge. Couldn't really find any other answers in here on how to really fix this issue, thoughts?

Otherwise application is working great for my needs, but few suggestions when you get around to it:

1) Combine all the fixes in new release or update the first post with all the other fixes/files listed in the rest of this thread. Consolidation of these into one place would be sweet.

2) Varibable to let me change how often it goes for updates. Would like to see this be multiple: One for forecast/general info, and maybe another for radar updates.

I am having a problem after uninstalling I keep getting a little popup Notification Error that says:

Cannot execute \program files\Outerdepth\KPWeather\KPWeather.exe

How do I stop this from occurring every few minutes?

You need to remove the entry from the notification queue. To do this, use an app that will let you look at the notificaitions queue. SK Tools Lite is free and will work. Just find KPWeather.exe and remove/delete it.

Program works great but icon for settings that looks like a speaker is huge and I cannot figure out why. Does anyone have any ideas.

Outerdepth was going to get back to me about a month ago about the setting image icon issue as he thought he might know what it was.

BTW anyone know of a HS that works with this and shows tasks?

The .cpr normal size for the icons is Width="44" Height="44" from what i can see from a default .cpr

Same as the last post. Loved your old weather app. You finally convinced me to upgrade. Have the same issues as the last post and the icons were just red x's. Tried re-installing and kept rebooting. Now I un-installed and have a home screen that has the place for a weather app and just a red x. Hope you can fix it for us.

I was running into some problems with it working correctly. I'm in the process of installing this updated rom right now. Love this App so much, been using for months now but finally had to uninstall as it eats my battery like crazy. The battery will not even last a day let alone hours. Is there any fix for this as I really would love to keeep using it.

It the battery/system monitors that are killing your battery. If you remove them and use the weather only, then you will see big improvement.

Very nice looking app, but I am still trying to get it working correctly.

I have update the zip code and I do get correct information temp/condition for the current weather.

However, for the forcast information, the information is not from where I live. Am I missing something?

I tried the ODSHOWeather app. Then I uninstalled it. Now I'm getting strange errors under very specific conditions.

If the phone is unplugged and wakes from a sleep, 2 error messages come up. As it just so happens, I've taken a screenshot of these errors. If the phone is plugged in, no errors will show up.

I have tried and tried to get rid of these errors using PHM registry editor, but I can no longer find anything peculiar about the registry. I've searched for remainders in the file system, but I can't find any. So I thought to come on here and ask the developers of the app for guidance in removing it.

It doesn't seem to be an isolated issue with your app either, another weather app I've tried does it too. (NRG Mini)

Please please help me get rid of these errors. These errors are driving me nuts! Is there some sort of file that I need to edit lines from?

If it's of any consequence, the device I'm running is a Samsung Omnia i910.

I have searched both on my card and mobile files for these files have not been able to find it.

I had downloaded a Demo of SK Tools which was limited to only 6 items. Downloaded the Lite version and was able to find the monitor.exe and kpweather.exe and deleted.

I had the same issue and this what i followed in order to fix it.
Showaco gave another member this direction:

Make sure that you download the Lite version, it is the freeware and it will show more than 6 entries. Once installed go into Notification Queue and and scroll down til you find both the monitor.exe and kpweather.exe place a check mark on the left hand side and choose the delete option. That will fix it.

Found the NO DATA error. The accuweather connection u have isnt used.

USE THIS: Open KPweather.mscr with notepad and look for Sub Accuweather and below it youll see link=ReadFile.

Replace with this:

link=ReadFile("http://wwwa.accuweather.com/adcbin/forecastfox/weather_data.asp?location="&location&"&metric="&metric)


Save and replace KPweather.mscr and when ask to replace click YES.

Reboot phone then update
