For Feather Weather 2, click HERE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422445)
Portrait Version Now Available!
The smallest weather app available has just gone on a diet, it started at 950kb and now comes in at a lightweight sub 850 kb. Its been slimmed down in size but not in weather data available. The new TotalClock cab has the full five day and current conditions within the clock panel itself. Check out the screenshots below, you only see one day at a time for a nice clean look. Hit the right soft key to advance thru the days and when you done, it has a timer to reset itself to current conditions after 60 seconds of non-flipping of the forecast pages.

http://www4.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/e7c2a854ff6411ee1bb007dba77fc7193g.jpg (http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=kymcjyljxye&thumb=4) http://www3.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/c9a608de24d2148328a96e971333c87a3g.jpg (http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=j3l4a4xojm2&thumb=4)

For those who would rather have it seperate, the original version still uses a seperate forecast panel along with current conditions only in the clock panel. But even though it hasn't changed, I have managed to squeeze another 100 kb off of it.
On the original version clock panel you get info for current: temperature, icon, real feel temp, winds, humidity, visibility, barometer, uv level, cloud cover, precipitation, sunrise, sunset, air quality levels, and dewpoint. Also, on the clock panel you get tomorrow's forecast: conditions, hi/lo temperatures, real feel high temps, winds, and estimated precipitation.
On condensed clock panel, there is current temp, current condition icon, time, and todays Hi/Lo temperatures. So if you dock your clock, you will always have weather and time showing on homescreen.
And for a full forecast, there is a 5 day forecast panel that can be enabled or disabled. The forecast pages have info for: day, date, conditions, hi/lo temperatures, precipitation estimates, uv levels, and winds expected.

Both have a user set time interval for the updates depending on your needs, wants, or data plans. Just go to setup and specify the interval in minutes. The default is 30 minutes. The forecast data updates every 8th time weather update runs, that way you get updated forecast info every 4 hrs if you use the default for current condition updates.

To install: For now, install to main memory, I'm working on either or version.

Download the cab. After installation, it should prompt you to restart. If it doesn't, then restart your phone to set new clock panel in place. After reboot, wait about 10 seconds and the FeatherOptions will run automatically. Go to Setup and set all of your info, good idea to go ahead and set your right soft key on the clock panel at this time. After setup, exit options by selecting "Run Weather Update and Exit".
That's it, your done.
NOTE: I beleive I worked out my problem with mortscript registering itself, but if it doesn't auto start the options after 10 seconds, then go to FeatherWeather folder in Program Files and click on Mortscript.exe .

To uninstall: First download the ResetClockPanel.zip below. Unzip and then place the .mscr file on your phone. Run it with File Explorer, this will reset your clock panel. Now go to Settings/Remove Programs and uninstall the cab.

City Location Codes:
For anyone that needs to find their city code, use this link and change the location in this url to the name of your city and then go to it and it will give a list of all cities worldwide that have that name. Get your location from there and enter it exactly as it appears in the quotes, but do not use the quotes.
http://hadle.accu-weather.com/widget/hadle/city-find.asp?location=calcutta
So, for this link above, if you were looking for Calcutta, India. Go to this link, and you will see a line like this:
<location cnt="1" city="Calcutta" state="India(Bangla)" location="ASI|IN|IN036|CALCUTTA" />

So your location to enter in to options would be :
ASI|IN|IN036|CALCUTTA

This should work for cities worldwide.

Feather currently is installed with a slim panel layout only. If you want more dll or cpr options, they are easily installed with FileChanger. Those are more homescreen customizations than they are weather customization, thats why they aren't in here.

For landscape phones: If you don't want the slim panels, I have standard panels cpr and mini panels cpr that work specifically with FeatherWeather. They are in the Featherscprs.zip below. Just install with the FileChanger app or copy into windows folder. Click on the File Changer in my signature below for the File Changer thread and download.

New Portrait versions below, the last 2 cabs that names end with "P" are the portrait versions. Portrait versions updated 8/19/08 with new cpr. If you already installed, you can download the cpr zip only and install to windows directory.

Check out these new portrait layouts provided by Kron2:

http://www4.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/ec3c1baebf39045878b6d44323ce6fea3g.jpg (http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=1vlybybt9xj&thumb=4) http://www4.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/e750dedbfc233422a30ebfbfbea980ae3g.jpg (http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=gmjmjmytmwj&thumb=4)

Make sure you get the landscape or portrait version you need, first 2 are Landscape, last 2 are Portrait

NOTE: There was a slight change in the feed. So after installing one of these cabs, please go to Post #101 and download the forecast fix.

To uninstall: Go to Settings, Remove Programs and uninstall the cab. It won't change your clock panel back, but it will remove everything else. To revert clock panel back, install an original cpr or cpr of your choice.

The app only needs the cpr file adjusted for the clock panel layout to be ready to go. I have no way to test the layout, so it would be a total guess. If someone wants to make the cpr, or I could post a test version. A test version would probably have to be tweaked after installed to get the layout just right. You want to test? I can take a stab at the layout if you want to finish the final tweaking of positions.:rolleyes:

Edit: If you want to pm me your email, I have a test cpr ready if you want to try it.

When I try and run Feather Options, I get and error: There is no application associated with "FeatherOptions"

I installed the CAB to the device memory. I get a generic clock icon and some weather info.

Thanks for any help, and of course for the nice plugin (once I can get it to work) I'm on a Moto Q Global.

Sometimes mortscript doesn't register correctly on my cab installs. Go to program files\featherweather and find the mortscript.exe. Click on it and it will say that the extentions are registered. Now try again.

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply. Now I can run setup and get a forecast, but I still don't have a image, it shown a grainy white clock placeholder.

But progress has been made!

download sktools lite, its free. With it you can remove the notifications which are causing the error. If you want to reinstall, let me know which version you are using and I will get your icon fixed. If its the total clock version, the reason you didn't get the icon is because of not mortscript not registering at the beginning. It writes the value for the iconpath when the reboot occurs, but it needs mortscript to do it. Its an easy fix. After install, if mort doesn't register again, then reregister mortscipt again. After that, while you are in the featherweather folder, click on install.mscr. This will setup your icon for the clock panel and start your setup when it finishes.

I just reinstalled and rebooted my phone, and when the plugin came up, all seemed good then the screen died! It couldn't come on. I just got the phone and the first one AT&T shipped me had a bad backlight so I thought the worst, then I pulled the battery and rebooted again. Now the sun is shining gloriously on my Q :) Thanks, it was a little rocky but it sure looks nice. I really appreciate teh help getting this running, kudos to you sir.

No problem, I'm still trying to figure out why mort doesn't always register correctly because thats the culprit in most problems that have been reported.

I have installed the portrait total clock version in my HTC VOX. It runs fine. But it is not updating weather for my town. I live in Calcutta, India. After a lot of googling for getting accuweather codes, I tried the following in settings but none seemed to work.
ASI/IN/IN036/CALCUTTA
"ASI/IN/IN036/CALCUTTA"
INO36
CALCUTTA
Can anybody help me as to how to insert the code for my hometown Calcutta as I have liked the application very much and does not feel to ditch the same. Although it is not a forum for VOX I had to write in this forum as there are no threads for Feather weather in VOX forum.
Moreover, would anybody please give the link to the slide homescreen in Portrait version as posted in post no. 1.
Thanks in advance.

You have the right code, sort of. instead of "/" , you need "|". I tried it and it works, so for you code enter:
ASI|IN|IN036|CALCUTTA

For the theme, thats Kron2's theme. You may be able to find it at allshadow.com or by contacting him.

For anyone that need to find their city code, use this link and change the location in this url to the name of your city and then go to it and it will give a list of all cities worldwide that have that name. One thing though. I don't get the animated "sun" on the clock screen. I just get my generic clock. How do I change that? Its not a big deal, everything else works fine, but I'd like to get the animated sun.

Hey, thanks for the App! I also had to run the mortscript file manually, just so you can keep tabs on it, not a big deal at all.

Everything updated fine but when I have the forecast panel on, it's giving me the prior weeks forecast (8-10 to 8-15) instead of this coming weeks. Any idea on what that could be? The daily info in the clock panel is running the right date.

I love this lite file, was running the ODSHO weather but prefer the slim panel and the clear background of this one. Just my personal pref of it's clean look!

EDIT: Looks like it was just a lag on the full update, on the second 30 min interval, the forecast panel fully updated.

is there anyway that instead of using the right softkey to change days, can the directional pad be used?

I am also not getting the chome options settings. It says "Set options can not be found", or something like that.

The only way to change to another key is with another software like smartToolKit or AE Button Plus so you can map it to another key. On the options, are you talking abou the Feather Options? If it doesn't want to start, go to program files/featherweather and click on mortscript.exe and then it should start for you after that.

The 'UPDATED AT' function in clock panel is not showing update time.
How to disable auto update ? I tried with 0 but it started giving perpetual updates.

The update time is the actual time accuweather updated their feed, not when you ran updated.
As for as the auto updates, I will add a turn off feature in next release, for now I would suggest setting the interval to a high number, like 10000 minutes as 0 would make it instantaneous update when one finishes. You might also try using -30, a negative number should also disable I believe.

You can reinstall and use the options to set right soft back to contacts, and then uninstall again. Or you can manually edit the registry if you want to go that route.

The last two cabs listed in first post are portrait versions and should work fine for you. Just choose your option for the layout and pick the corresponding cab from those two. I'll be releasing a new version later this week.

To Finish Uninstall, Unzip and place this script on your phone and use file explorer to run it by clicking on it. Since you have NRG MiniWeather, I know you still have mortscript installed. It will reset your right soft key to contacts, your right soft key url to :mscontacts, and will reset your clock icon to original default icon. Everything else should have uninstalled when you used the Remove Programs in Settings. Reboot after using Remove Programs and your default original cpr should have came back. This script will replace the only things that remove programs does not change back.

that should only show if it can't get the internet connection active for some reason. If it was only once, then you probably just lost signal momentarily? The only time i get it is when i don't have a signal, or when i connect thru activesync it turns off my data connection too, so i get it then.

This looks like a great app! I can't wait to get it working. Unfortunately I am receiving the message below following the reboot process after installing FeatherTotalClockP.cab. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hardware = Blackjack II
Software = 6.1

Couldn't write value in
HKLM\System\State\Phone\Current
Operator Name

Line 4 (\Program Files\FeatherWeather\Feather.mscr):
RegWriteString ("HKLM",
"System\State\Phone","Current Operator
Name","Starting Update")
I'm not sure what would cause that unless its needs to unlocked somehow to let you write to registry values. I'm assuming since you have 6.1 on bj2, that you just updated recently, you might try the sda application unlock. Also, since you have bj2, you should be using the landscape version cab, thats the one without "P" on the end.

Anyone have another idea on the reg writing problem?

I just installed the landscape version on my WM6.1 BJ II, connected to US ZIP code 17112, and the weather shows up. Nice plugin..

I have a problem though. Te detailed weather panel, page 1, says the date is Sun 8/10/2008 and the forecast is 101/79 for today. This clearly is not the forecast for this region and the date is way off (today is 9/5/2008). What's wrong?

It will fix itself after a few updates. The forecast part only runs every 8th time that current weather runs. You can speed up the process by editing the reg at hklm/software/feather/fupdate. Change that value to 1 and then run an update.

Running SDA App unlock and reinstalling the landscape version fixed the issue. Thanks! Great App!

I put this on my Shadow w/ 6.1

It works great. I did have to run the mortscript.exe manually, but no big deal.

One thing though. I don't get the animated "sun" on the clock screen. I just get my generic clock. How do I change that? Its not a big deal, everything else works fine, but I'd like to get the animated sun.

Thanks for this cab!

I have this same problem on my shadow. how can i fix this? I tried reregistering the mort, then clicking on the install file, but it doesnt change anything. any other suggestions? thanks, everything else worked great!

I don't know how I fixed it. It fixed itself I think. It took a few updates.

I'm having another problem though. It keeps updating....continuously. It drains my battery in a few hours. I had to uninstall it just to keep my battery alive. Has anyone else experienced this? I really like the program, but I only need it to update a few times a day....not a few times every minute.

what's your update interval set to?

I had it set to 30 min, but I had go to work out of town, and where I'm working I don't have phone service. I figured it just kept trying to update because it couldn't get a signal, so I set the renew time to 0, and it kept doing it.

I uninstalled it, and my phone has worked fine since.

I THEN installed the other .cab (featherweatherP) and its worked fine also. It doesn't update during the day. I manually update it when I get home at night.

I guess the totalclock.cab is the one with the problem?

Wow, this was simple enough for me to figure out and I know "nothing" about modding a smartphone.

Or maybe I'm underestimating myself. Got it to work on first install. Freaked out when the weather imgs wouldn't load, but found the chome refresh and BAM, pretty weather icons.

Didn't like the slimpanel thing and couldn't figure out any of the how-to's. Somehow I correctly installed filechanger, browsed to the standard one I'd put on my storage card and voila! Old faithful was back.

I love this app, thanks a mil. My weather panel week is incorrect right now too, but I read earlier this will clear up on its own.

Hey, first of all thanks for this great weather app!
Had no probs with it yet!
Just had a few questions, i noticed the app won't update via wifi when connected only through the GPRS, at least for me...
Secondly is there a way to have Celcius instead of Fahrenheit in the detailed forcast panel.

Thanks

Since your using STK, you should be able to map it to another key. I believe you can map keys with smart toolkit, right? If you can make double taps, then you could leave it as a double tap on right soft. I don't know if stk does this, but ae button plus lets you make single, double, triple, and long presses for each key.

I have downloaded FeatherTotalClockP since I have a HTC Juno/Shadow and everything seems to be working correctly (current temp and conditions) with the exception of the forecast updates.

My "next day" is actually showing Saturdays forecast and the remaining days in the 5 day forecast are blank. I did check the accuweather page and I am noticing that the forecast for Saturday is correct so I know the data information is pulling accurately but why would it pull 4-5 days from now? I do realize that the forecast updates on every 8th update but even manually updating 8 times does not seem to resolve the issue.

Any ideas as this seems like a new problem based on reading the thread.

Edit: I am also noticing that on the Air Quality / Pollen / Updated At screen a time is not shown for the last update.

Not sure, the fact that the update time doesn't display suggests that the update never completely finished. When you ran the 8th update, did the clock panel text say getting the forecast for all 5 days? How long have you had it installed and has it ever worked for you?

The panel did show that it was getting the forecast, however I did not notice it saying day 1, day 2, etc...

I did have the standard feather weather program working before, however had some other issues with another program and then did a hard reset. Have been having this problem ever since. I did notice I am having the issue with both feather weather and total clock. :confused:

I have since uninstalled hoping for some resolution. I can reinstall and provide screenshots if you think that would help.

Did you install anything else that uses mortscript? If you got the wrong version, it will mess up the script. The fact that you didn't see the "Getting Forecast Day 1", "Getting Forecast Day 2", etc, means that it never ran a complete update. Thats why your not getting the forecast. If you have any other mortscript.exe files installed, delete them all, including the one in Feather, and then install the mortscript 4.11b7 version.

Ok, understood and that seems like what the problem might be. I am definitely not seeing "Getting Forecast Day 1" etc, like I used to see before.

I will make sure all of the mortscript files are removed, do you have a separate download for the mortscript 4.11b7 version or is that included in the original .cab file?

After uninstalling all the mortscript.exe files, try to run the weather and you should get an error message. This will confirm you have all removed. Then install the new one.

Well unfortunately I have checked all of my other program files, deleted the original mortscript.exe file w/in feather weather, installed the mortscript.cab file in the first post of the thread you linked me to, however that did not fix the problem. Current conditions appear fine, I do get one day of the forecast but it is for Sunday (4 days ahead) and the remaining days are blank.

Would a mortscript.exe file be anywhere else in the file manager?

Should I try another hard reset to see if that fixes the issue?

Very low resources nice job, and I see your post here at xda-developer forums:

My issue is similar to this....as when I scroll down one panel on my sliding/media panel homepage, (it is presently now 36 degree F, and the temp is only going to get up to @50 degree F).....but its states:

38 degree------>79 degree F

You replied:

"It will fix itself after a few updates. The forecast part only runs every 8th time that current weather runs. You can speed up the process by editing the reg at hklm/software/feather/fupdate. Change that value to 1 and then run an update."

Hey

I'm living in Denmark and uses dd-mm-yy - 24:00 - Celsius.

The only setting possible in Fetather Setting is F or C.

This setting only gives the correct temperature a couple of places. Other places only the unit has changed without recalculating the value like 102 C - that a pretty high temperature.

Also the time is like that - the "big" time is 24:00 but on the details it's still AM and PM.

On the forecast panel it's taking the wrong 5 dates because we use dd-mm-yyyy.

Thanks for the good work.

I'm usually no dummy to modding things on the phone but I still haven't grasped chome modifications as yet. Now that I've found FeatherWeather I would really like to implement the design below.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=126009&stc=1&d=1225395829

It's a modification of the Kron design included with FeatherWeatherP.cab - the weather icon is 64x64, the temp overlay can be left off if not possible, the rest of it is fairly self-explanatory. It manages all the same elements of Kron design but in a more balanced layout that fits in a standard panel. It would really take too much work to make it fit a shorter panel either.

As for a collapsed panel, smaller weather icon / temp / alarm icon / time would be perfect.

Any help Available? As pre-payment I've included an archive of the weather icons I created. They'll work in FeatherWeather AND NRG Mini Weather. Just extract and replace the condicons in the folder of the same name.

No problem on the help, editing size and locations of temp, icons, text, and alarm is easy. I just don't understand exactly how you want it to look. Is that a actual screenshot or just a mockup of how you want it? Give a few more details and I or someone else will help you edit it.:D

As for the icons, last I knew of NRG's weather, it used yahoo and twc for weather data. Feather uses accuweather, so a single set of icons won't work for both. They use different numbering systems.
Edit: I just downloaded the zip and checked the icons, they are for yahoo/twc weather. For feather/accuweather, you will have to check them against the conditions list and renumber them. Here's the condition/icon list for accuweather: http://accunet.accuweather.com/wx/accunet/symset.htm

Edit: Here's an attempt at the layout cpr, I don't have access to a portrait device so I had to guess at layout. Try this one(make a backup of your original first!) and post a screenshot with results and we can go from there.:)

This is a mockup as you guessed. I'll get back to you asap after trying your draft layout of my design. Thanks!!

I'll also reorder the conditions icons to match AccuWeather - I foolishly assumed this was a standard across services and didn't check.

Here's the latest screenshot. Can you get the temp to overlay the icon and make it a few points smaller as well? Also, can you show the long format of the date so it reads, for example, "Friday, October 31, 2008"?

And I must agree this is very very very cool. I already was using Feather Weather and now it's extra cool for me. So add another 'very' to it now. :D

Could you add extra comments to this to document everything you're doing? I'd really appreciate it as I'm still trying to understand editing these more. It's a shame WM 6.1 is so sensitive to errors in the .cpr as it makes experimenting difficult.

You oughta offer several designs... or if that's what those feathercprs.zip are perhaps add this in and offer screenshots to show what they all look like and explain how to use them or offer an option in your options to switch between them.

Also, I really like your separate weather panels in FWeather2 and it occurred to me that you could use something like those to show very detailed information on each day's forecast.

Also... is there some way to make the text in the Weather forecast panels smaller without making the text in the other panels smaller?

No problem on the changing the temp, I'll do that and post it in a bit along with which values you need to change to move it so you can learn as well. The date you will have to change the format in the registry. I can't remember the exact location right now, it's something like hklm\nls\overides and may involve creating a key or two. I'll have to find it again.;) For FW2, I don't have a portrait layout for the forecast panel, or I would have released it in portrait as well. Maybe when you start editing the cpr you will want to help design the layout?:rolleyes:

Here's an Accuweather version of my weather icons. BTW, I did create these and instead of renaming the TWC/Yahoo versions, I made a slightly different set for you and FeatherWeather and you're welcome to distribute them so long as you credit me for them.

I also included a Sliding Panels style icon for weather that was based on the HTC icon for same.

Here's the new cpr, try it and see. For the date, you will need to edit this reg key, HKLM\nls\overrides\SSDte
To make it like the long date, enter: dddd, MMMM dd, yyyy
It should show up after a soft reset.

For editing the cpr, moving images and text is fairly simple as long as your not deleting or adding new stuff. To move the clock panel like I've been doing on this, these are the lines in the cpr you will need to look at. You can open and edit the cpr with notepad.
<!-- HomeHome==Clock layout templates -->
<Layer ID="ClockExpanded" Visible="False" Width="240" Height="130">
<Layer ID="Page">
<!-- Icon on left side -->
<Image ID="Icon" Left="8" Top="8" Width="64" Height="64"/>

<Image ID="CTempDigit2" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\digit2.png" Left="55" Top="10" Width="12" Height="20" />
<Image ID="CTempDigit3" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\digit3.png" Left="67" Top="10" Width="12" Height="20" />
<Image ID="CTempFC" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\degree.png" Left="81" Top="10" Width="18" Height="9" />
<!-- Title text -->
<Text ID="Network Name" Left="18" Top="83" Width="210" Height="80" FontFamily="Nina" FontSize="7" FontStyle="Bold" Wrap="True" HorizontalAlignment="Center" Trimming="EllipsisCharacter"></Text>
<!-- Time -->
<Text ID="Time" Left="0" Top="0" Width="232" Height="40" FontFamily="Nina" FontSize="20" FontStyle="Bold" Wrap="False" HorizontalAlignment="Right" Trimming="EllipsisCharacter"></Text>
<!-- Date -->
<Text ID="Date" Left="0" Top="38" Width="232" Height="25" FontFamily="Nina" FontSize="9" FontStyle="Regular" Wrap="False" HorizontalAlignment="Right" Trimming="EllipsisCharacter"></Text>
<!-- Alarm -->
<Image ID="Alarm" Left="105" Top="7" Width="10" Height="22"/>
<!-- WiFi -->
<Text ID="WiFi" Left="0" Top="50" Width="232" Height="25" FontFamily="Nina" FontSize="9" FontStyle="Regular" Wrap="False" HorizontalAlignment="Right" Trimming="EllipsisCharacter"></Text>
</Layer>
</Layer>

Most of the lines have same basic info. Left="" value is number of pixels from left of screen. Top="" is number from top of panel. Width="" is the width of the image or text rectangle. Height="" is the height of the text or image. These numbers can be changed without screwing up much, just remember that you are putting location on the panel, not on the screen. In this cpr, panel size is 240x130. The cpr will resize the images based on these numbers regardless of how big the original image is. On the text lines you also have the fonts. FontFamily is the name of the font you want to use. FontSize is the size of it. FontStyle is for either Regular or Bold, and I think it could be Italic, not positive on that. Wrap tells it whether or not to wrap to next line when it reaches the end of the text rectangle or to trim it off. Vertical and HorizontalAlignment can be right,left,center,top,or bottom. Trimming is how it trims the text when it needs to, EllipsisCharacter will put "..." when it trims the text. Just keep a backup copy, and play with it a little. If it won't restart, then overwrite with backup copy and reboot. Have fun:);)

Here's a question for you -- how do you specify the icon to use for the collapsed version of the panel? It just seems to make a generic reference to the icon and it's size so that can't be the right area?

In the cpr file, you would have to edit the operator services panel to change forecast panel. But this is also the panel template used for program panels and dialer panels among other things. Thats why it stays with a pretty generic layout.

The only other one that I've found to work is the settings type panel. With featherweather2 , i was able to bypass the conflict with other panels by using a seperate cpr just for the forecast panels. You could try it, but you would have to replace the default cpr with your current one and then the forecast cpr would have to be adjusted for portrait devices along with the background image. I'm waiting to see how some other stuff works out before offering anymore updates.

I was using your featherweather totalclock portrait version without any problems. Of late I have flashed my VOX with Dr Gonzo's Rose ROM (s740 ROM customised for VOX). This has a weather panel of its own as you might be knowing. I have disabled that default HTC weather panel annd installed your app. But no icons etc are shown on clock panel instead a slim line showing the conditions are dispalyed alongwith a small icon (in the green screen only). I copied the modified cpr file (pasted in post no. 110) and the result was same. Screenshots attached. Please guide me for overcoming this problem.
By the way I am having eight cpr (4x2 for portrait and landscape) files in my windows folder with the following names.
1) chome_240x320
2)HTCslidingpanel_240x320
3)Slidingpanel_240x320
4)Reddress_240x320 - This is for red dress theme made by Dr. Gonzo

I looked into the xml files and found that none of them are using the chome cpr files. So I think that I have found the problem. I will now have to install a theme using chome cpr files. Anyway I am waiting for any additional advices by Showaco.

Thanks

So what file did you have to modify to get the display? If it wasn't chome240x320.cpr, could post it so I could take a look? On my bj, I don't have the htc panels, and this is the second thing that makes me to believe they are slightly different in design and actual files used.

Has anyone got this correctly working on a Shadow. In my first couple of tries, the main panel never seemed to populate the weather icons. I'd appreciate knowing if this would even work, or if I'm wasting my time.

Thanks for all the help on learning the CPR XML ins and outs. I've gone ahead and finished this up to match what I was after. In addition I also edited your Mortscript files to produce the weather information in what I felt was a more readable format. The Weather/Clock panel still shows all the same information but I reduced the amount of abbreviations used and changed the formatting a bit a well. That all said, here's the final condition icons, scripts, screens and more. All may be used freely so long as a nod is given my way for anything I actually did.

Let's see...what else did I do to the CHome display? Made the default icon size for weather, contacts, Chome_configuator panels and such 64x64, standardized font sizes (might have already been on some people's system but not on mine!) and made the weather forecast sliding panel more readable for a portrait device.

FeatherWeatherCPRsMORE.zip contains everything but the icons. Use whatever you want of it that you like - copy these files over those in the FeatherWeather folder and Windows folder where appropriate (ie: .cpr goes in \Windows\ and the rest goes in the \Program Files\Feather Weather\ folder basically)

condicons.zip are my final and correct icons for FeatherWeather weather conditions.

Enjoy!

I was so excited when I saw this post!! Mostly because out of all applications, I have found this to be the one I like the most.

So after installing FeatherWeather again, I rebooted as the phone asked me to do. I copied over the cpr files and the icon files.

1. I still don't see the extended forecast panel after multiple times of enabling it in the options.
2. The town I live in Lansing, IL (zip code 60438). In the main panel, I see the town as Crawford (TX?). George Bush is on his way out.. I don't need any more reminders of him.. :D

Any help please??

After playing around with the program some more, I've made some headway. I was originally installing FeatherTotalClock, and this time I decided to install just the regular FeatherWeather.

Now when I clicked on Enable Forecast Panel, by magic the panel appeared! Whoo hoo! I guess success.

Now come the actual feeds. In the first one, the hi/low is totally off! It wasn't a high of 101! Crawford again?

The next is the extended forecast panel. The date shows Sunday 8/11. Ummm.. that's not today (Tuesday, 11/4).

Any help or comments?

I would also love it if the current conditions icon showed up in my clock panel! It looks so cool, but it doesn't work for me for some reason - all I get is a whitish clock icon. Updates and weather is working just fine. If you know a fix I would greatly appreciate it! I am running WM 6.1

First... LOVE the app! It's the best weather program I've tried on my Dash.

Second... How can I get the the "today" icon on the clock panel to match the today icon in the forecast view. The forecast view seems to always match the actual weather (clouds, snow, rain, etc.) The clock icon seems to just show how cloudy it is.

Third... If I *really* overclock my phone and set all the icons to "sunny" can I get it to be nice outside? I HATE winter! :)

2) The today icon should be current weather icon, while the forecast view should be the predicted weather icon.

it has to do with the rose panels, If you rename the cpr file to same name as the rose sliding panels. I cant remember the name right now, but you have two slidingpanels available, one is htc and other is standard, the standard is the name you want to use for chome320x240.cpr installed by feather. I remember covering this in the featherweather2 thread, you should be able to find more info searching over there.

I just tried to uninstall this until I get the display issue resolved, and I get the following error occasionally: Cannot execute \Program Filea\FeatherWeather\Feather.exe

Please help.

download sktools lite, its free.

I uninstalled and am CONSTANTLY getting an error message "Cannot execute \Program Files\FeatherWeather\loop.exe". I installed SKTools but I don't see any notifications pertaining to this to get rid of it. There has to be a notification otherwise you wouldn't be getting notification that \Program Files\FeatherWeather\loop.exe couldn't be run. Did you go to "Notifications Queue" in SKTools? It has to be there, if its not there then you are hallucinating these notification issues.:rolleyes:

I don't think this is a hallucination (see attachment). The notifications queue shows many named "\\.\Notifications\NamedEvents\SCRIPT:0x00xxxxxxx" at odd intervals throughout the day and other days listed. Other than those there's nothing pertaining to FW at all. Since I have no idea what these notifications are I'm reluctant to delete them.

BTW, the phone is an AT&T Fuze, I know I'm in the Excalibur thread but I did a search for this uninstall error and came up with this thread.

I have a fuze as well, and have a version of this installed. I removed the loop from ppc version and so I had to remove this notification too. I also used sk tools, so I will reinstall loop.exe and take some screenshots showing the removal. Check back here later.

BTW, you might want to fix the removal of the Programs icon on uninstall also. As I noted before, I installed and uninstalled FW several times thinking the uninstall didn't go properly since I was getting the errors, but each time left a new shortcut in the programs folder, they weren't removed during the uninstall.

I never had trouble with icon removing from start menu after using RemovePrograms in Settings Menu of phone.
Here's a step by step of removing with SK Tools, with photos :rolleyes:.

http://mobile.txcaesar.net/mobile/siteadmins/Showaco/pics/sktools.jpg

1) Shows working notification before uninstall of loop.exe
2) Shows missing/broken notification of loop.exe. Make sure it is checkmarked.
NOTE: YOURS WILL BE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT FILE NAME, SHOULD BE
\PROGRAM FILES\FEATHERWEATHER\LOOP.EXE
3) Press Action soft key to bring up this menu. Choose Delete Marked.
4) This popup for confirmation comes up, Choose YES.
5) Processed popup comes up, click OK.
6) Shows Notification Queue without loop.exe being listed after removal.

I assumed that you already know how to open Notifications Queue using SKTools.

MaxxPower
1st January 2009, 10:10 PM
When FW was installed, I went to the FW options and clicked uninstall, then it told me to go to Remove Programs and uninstall from there which I did. Every time I uninstalled, the shortcut remained in the Programs folder with a blank icon. When I installed again it made a new shortcut and added a sequential number to it.

So this process you're showing here for the removal of loop.exe in the Notifications queue, is this with FW installed on the phone? Meaning I would have to install FW, remove the notification, then uninstall FW? As it is right now I don't have this notification in the list.

EDIT: Well, I just installed FW again and I still don't have any notification in the queue pertaining to loop.exe or Feather Weather at all.

showaco
1st January 2009, 10:25 PM
NO, don't install again. Go to \Windows\Start Menu and remove the feather entries from the start menu. Then go to \Windows\StartUp and see if loop.exe is there, if it is, delete it as well. Those are the last things I can think of if notification queue is without the loop.exe entry.

MaxxPower
2nd January 2009, 07:38 PM
I already got rid of the leftover shortcuts, and loop.exe isn't in the startup folder. Nothing in the notification queue in SKTools. The only thing I can find left on the phone pertaining to FW is a registry entry in HKCU\Software\Mort\MortScript\Processes, there's a DWORD value named \Program Files\Featherweather\featherweatheroptions.mscr. I can't delete this entry with Total Commander, it won't let me, and I can only change its values in a registry editor. I am assuming this is what is causing the phone to still look for loop.exe, any suggestions?

EDIT: OK, I was searching for a way to keep ActiveSync from starting all the time for no reason and found a task manager program with instructions on how to turn off the notification for it, and wouldn't you know it the loop.exe notification shows up in this list also, so I was able to disable it. Have no idea why SKTools didn't show it at all.

Hello,

First and foremost I have to echo all the appreciation for this unbelievably awesome work. Thank you very much!

I'm using the TotalClock version on my Shadow running the Erofich 6.1 ROM. It looks beautiful.

Three things I've noticed, in case you start updating this again...

1) The FeatherOptions.mscr has an error on line 84. It says "Call AdvanceOptions" instead of "Call AdvancedOptions" - was a quick and easy fix obviously so if others experience this they can just edit their file with notepad.

2) For some reason, I never get a value for the wind gusts. It just says "gusts to mph". I checked Accuweather for my zip and they are indeed listing a gust speed on the "regular" website, but I can't find where Feather stores its weather data so I can't check to see if it's in the feed. Any thoughts?

3) At the end of the conditions cycle on the clock panel, the last page is just blank (well, it still shows the current temp and conditions icon, just nothing on the bottome portion where the conditions go). I assume this is the page where "user defined" text would go, but I don't have any user defined text. Is there a way to make this last page not show in the cycle?

Thanks again,

Jeff

1) Thanks for posting that.
2) Yeah, accuweather changed the feed and removed gusts from current weather part of feed. In featherweather2, we changed it to grab windgust from that days forecast windgust instead. Look at the feather.mscr, and you can find the url for the feed(have to add in your location and metric info, metric is 0 for farenheit, and 1 for celsius). You can access the feed from pc and take a look at it.
3) You can edit loop.mscr to remove the last regwrite part that is for custom text.
I would highly recommend you upgrading to featherweather2, its downloads for the weather data are incredibly faster. Now full updates take about 10 seconds compared to close to minute on this version. It also should have all of your issues accounted for that you listed. For loop, you can change individual text on/off, turn all off, or turn all on.

You rock man. Thanks for the quick reply.

I had gone with the TotalClock version simply because my first couple times trying the 2.14 version the forecast panel wouldn't work - it would go to it, show only one day, and the "Back" option wasn't there so I'd have to go into the Chome Configurator and reenable everything. But, I think this was my fault somehow. I've just reinstalled 2.14b and everything works perfectly.

Man oh man are the updates ever faster! Sweet!

Everything is running wonderfully now. Thank you very much for your hard work and great support!

Two more questions if I may,

1) is there a quick and easy way to slighty increase the main current conditions icon on the clock panel?

2) Can the speed through which it cycles the current conditions on the clock panel be increased? I'm just impatient. ;-)

THanks once again,

yes and yes:)
1) You'll need to edit your CHome xml file to increase icon size.
2) Open the loop.mscr file with notepad. Notice where it has the Sleep commands. The number following( I think it was "Sleep 2000"?) is the time delay. 2000 is 2 seconds since time is in milliseconds. You could change it 1000, 800, or whatever time delay you want. You can set different delays for each text if you want more time for some and less for others.

Thanks. Piece of cake. Made the icon bigger, looks great. :-)

Not to be a pain, but I've found another question...

I have been trying to change the font size on the forecast panel. I think it's too big, as I'm getting "..." after the sunset time. Please see screen capture.

I changed font sizes in the Fullscreen.cpr, and then refreshed the homescreen as well as rebooted. Neither action seems to help. Am I in the right spot? I apologize if this has been covered.

Thanks for the support, (I'll be hitting your donation box on payday!)

Actually, looking at your screenshot, your fullscreen cpr didnt' activate. Your still seeing the default cpr with just the new panels for forecast. Make sure the fullscreen cpr is copying to right file name/location. Open the forecast.mscr and check these lines:
Copy("\Windows\CHome_240X320.cpr","\Program Files\FeatherWeather\cprbackup.cpr",TRUE)
Copy("\Program Files\FeatherWeather\Fullscreen.cpr","\Windows\CHome_240X320.cpr",TRUE)

There is a couple of set of lines like these. Make sure it has correct names and locations. It should have worked if you have the correct orientation for your device(landscape or portrait version) unless you have different cpr names.

Back to bug you some more... ;-)

Is there a way to have the clock panel on the homescreen always show:

Feels like
Wind data
Last update time

On three lines, and not loop through the data? I found that increasing the loop frequency too much made the homescreen run rather sluggish. Figured having that data all shown at once, and not having it loop, would keep the homescreen running smoothly and allow me to see the info I want with just a quick glance...

If it'll take a lot of tweaking with size/positions, etc, could you just point me to what/where I need to edit and I'll work out the positioning myself?

Greatly appreciate it!

Sure you can. To get that data, you will have to edit the feather.mscr so that it writes that data to the txt1 in registry. Then you can edit loop.mscr to a longer Sleep delay. Then go to Feather options and set text loop so that is the only one that is used. You'll have to play with the spacing in feather.mscr of txt1 til you get it to display correctly. The other way(and I'm not sure if it will work) is to check out a app called Personalizer which can be found in develpment and hacking forum here on xda. It sets a string to operator name and prevents operator name from overriding it. With this(if it works on smartphone) you could do away with loop.mscr and just have feather.mscr write directly to the registry for current operator name(which is where loop is writing to currently).

Nevermind, it was easy to figure out. I think there is an "error" in the CHome cpr though. Here is the relevant part:

<!-- HomeHome==Clock layout templates -->
<Layer ID="ClockExpanded" Visible="False" Width="240" Height="130">
<Layer ID="Page">
<!-- Icon on left side -->
<Image ID="Icon" Left="6" Top="8" Width="100" Height="90"/>
<Image ID="CTempDigit1" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\digit1.png" Left="55" Top="10" Width="14" Height="25" />
<Image ID="CTempDigit2" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\digit2.png" Left="51" Top="10" Width="14" Height="25" />
<Image ID="CTempDigit3" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\digit3.png" Left="66" Top="10" Width="14" Height="25" />
<Image ID="CTempFC" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\degree.png" Left="80" Top="10" Width="18" Height="9" />

It's the Left="55" attribute for the digit1.png. I set that to 41 instead, but right after when I updated the weather the damn temp went up to 8 below, so I can't see how well it worked. Argh. Oh well, I'm sure that's all it was.

Glad you got it, BTW, did you end up using Personalizer or did you just edit loop and feather scripts to only show that info? I'm sure lagasi can address that digit1.png since your on portait version. Did you set it to around 40 or 45?

I just ended up having the Feather.mscr write all the needed data to txt1, and then set it to only display the cloud cover in feather options (as this corresponded to txt1). I assume I could change the Feather.mscr to put the values in any one of the txt* fields as long as I pick the proper one in the options. Then I set the loop to sleep for 20 seconds (20000). ;-)

As for the digit1, I set it to Left="37" since the width is set to 14 and the left for digit2 is 51. It looks very nice.

THanks!

EDIT: poh, and I moved the current conditions icon up two pixels to Top="6" just to even the Top vs Left distances...FYI...

Okay, hopefully this is all it is. Open up your Feather.mscr file locate in \Program Files\FeatherWeather\ and go to line 124...

YOu can either try replacing your entire line with this one:
RegWriteString ("HKLM", "System\State\Phone","Current Operator Name","Connecting to AccuWeather")

Or just make the same edits if they are indeed needed. The edits are:
1) remove the "\" before "System" in the registry path
and
2) add the closing parenthesis to the end of the line.

Then run it and let us know.

Good luck,

Hmmm... I was afraid of that. :-(

I guess first off, make sure that path exists in your registry. Hopefully you've got a registry editor by now. If any part of that path does not exist, create it.

THen, if that still doesn't work, try replacing the Feather.mscr with the attached one and run it. Make sure to copy your current Feather.mscr somewhere else before you do.

Oh, and I guess I should ask - have you app unlocked your device yet? If not, that might be all it is. Search for app unlock to get that...

Thanks for helping me. Yes, my phone is app unlocked. I replaced the Feather.mscr with the one you sent, but still get the same error message. notaliberal
5th March 2009, 04:35 AM
hmm. well, I'm only used to using Rescoe registry, but I imagine they're similar.
the HKLM stands for HKey Local Machine, so once you've got the registry editor open that's the first thing you'll click into. then, just click through each of the remaining items in the path; first go into System, then State, then Phone. now, look for an entry named Current Operator Name. if you don't see it, figure out how to create a new string value, and name it "Current Operator Name" (without the quotes). make the value whatever you like, perhaps just "test".

save it, if applicable, and exit. now, tri to update feather. if no go, try rebooting the phone once and updating again.

let us know, and good luck,

jeff

On further review, I have found the registry files in TC. There is a \registry\HKLM\System\State\Phone\Current Operator Name. When I click on Current Operator Name, it says T-Mobile. I don't see anything about "Connecting to AccuWeather". Does that need to be written in somewhere?

notaliberal
5th March 2009, 05:52 AM
okay. well, if that already exists then changing the value yourself won't help. seems like the Feather.mscr doesn't have the needed permission to change that value. coincidentally, its the first system value (meaning one NOT created by featherweather) in the registry that is getting written, which is why I suggested the app unlock. are you positive you app unlocked (with the utility found on this site) BEFORE you installed feather?

you could also try making sure mortscript is registered correctly. go into the FeatherWeathe folder in Program Files, and click on the MortScript.exe to run it. it should bring up a window saying some file types were correctly registered.

NOW try updating the weather. crossing your fingers, of course...

EDIT - I updated the mortscript file name, its MortScript.exe that you run to register mortscript.

showaco
5th March 2009, 06:53 AM
I think notaliberal is correct, it must be a permissions issue. What did you use to app unlock? SDA Application Unlock? If your running a custom rom, then you probably don't need it. Mortscript is registered and running fine, otherwise it wouldn't run the script at all. Writing to Current Operator Name is a big part of feather, so if you remove those lines it would probably run, but you would be losing lots of weather info.

Thanks for sticking with me, Jeff and Showaco. I had app unlocked with SurrealNetworksAppUnlock.cab. I have been able to install some other programs, so I assumed it had unlocked OK. I reinstalled it and guess what, no more error message on Feather.

But I'm still not 100% there. I am seeing some scrolling textual weather info on the home page, but no graphics. The first line of the page says:
Wi-fi Off Winds(E) at 3/5/2009 3:12AM

The "Winds(E) at" part scrolls and changes to other weather info, but not the full line (Winds E at ???).

How do I get the graphics and the full line of text?

In Display Options>Set Feather Panel Location, it says Select an option, then push OK, but the only "option" I am seeing is Return to Options without changing.

I turned off the phone when I went to bed, and when I turned it back on the error message returned on Feather. I reinstalled SurrealNetworksAppUnlock.cab again, and Feather works for now (still just text, no icons).

Somehow the phone must be "relocking" evry time it is turned off. Maybe I should try the SDA Application Unlock you mentioned, if that is something different. Where to find it.

okay, this is getting weird.

I'm starting to wonder if this is a feather problem, or if perhaps you've got windows issues.

are you running WM6 or WM6.1? if you're on WM6, you should really consider making the switch. I forget which ROM I out on my dash, but I got it here and it runs awesome. that's for another thread though...

Hi,

Well, here's the link to where I got the 6.1 ROM I'm using on my Dash. Might seem complicated, but it's really not if you read through everything first.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=374890

If you decide to do this and have questions, please make sure to post them in that thread.

As for your layout and display, try dropping the files in the attached zip into your \Program Files\FeatherWeather folder. Back up the current ones first, as usual. Then run a full weather update and see how it looks.

billdz
5th March 2009, 09:28 PM
OK, I installed the files you sent and ran SDA Application Unlock. Still looks the same, and still getting the dlfile error message. Despite the error message, the textual weather info is still scrolling.

Checked the phone and it seems it is running .NET Compact Framework version 2.0. I see there is a version 3.5 available. Could that be the problem?

I'm sure that WM6.1 is nice, but it does seem complicated and I'm a little afraid to try it. Everything seems to be working fine except for Feather. For example, Weather Watcher is installed and running OK. However, WW must be clicked to start it, and I was hoping to run Feather and get the weather right on the start page.

notaliberal
5th March 2009, 09:38 PM
I suppose it could be the .NET version. Might as well try it, don't think it'll hurt.

As for the layout, what homescreen are you using? Do you know the name of your cpr file? For instance, Feather is expecting it to be named CHome_320X240.cpr but on my shadow I'm using one named HTCSlidingPanels.cpr. So I had to edit that in the Feather.mscr and perhaps elsewhere. YOu can find out which one you're using by looking at your homescreen xml file located in \Application Data\Home and opening the .xml files with notepad. Look for the following part:

CPRFileName="HTCSlidingPanel"

that's the name (minus the .cpr) of the file in teh windows directory that your homescreen is using. You need to change the name of the file in Feather.mscr, as well as copy the from the windows folder into the FeatherWeather folder. That might explain why you're not seeing the icons, etc.

Keep us posted,

billdz

Downloaded 3.5 and it seems that the dlfile error message is gone, at least for now.

In the Feather folder, there are 2 cpr files: CHome_320X240.cpr and Fullscreen.cpr. I do not see a mention of either of these files in Feather.mscr.

In the Application Data\Home folder, there are several xml files: full.home, green.scheme, guava.scheme, largefont.home, simple.home, nomru.home, and livedefault.home. These seem to be for the various homescreens I can select in Settings. None of these appears to contain the CPRFileName line.

I changed my homescreen in Settings from T-Mobile Blue to some of the others, and most of the others provide the scrolling weather text on a separate line, easier to read, but still no graphics.

Oh yeah, duh! Can't believe I didn't think of this. You'll never get the homescreen to look as it does in any of the screenshots from this thread, UNLESS you update to 6.1. All these homescreens are using what's called the "Sliding Panel" layout, which replaced the NEO homescreens from WM6.

This isn't to say you can't get the icons, etc to show the way you want them on whatever homescreen you ARE using, but I won't be able to help as I have none to reference. The Sliding Panels use a .cpr file to control the placement of everything on the screen, which is where you control where the icons are, where the weather test is, etc. Not sure where any of that goes in Neo. Maybe Showaco could help, but most users are running 6.1 now.

The upgrade is simple, you run the JumpSPL thing to unlock the phone, then the RUU_xxxxxxxx.exe to update while connected via ActiveSync. Man, the threaded test messaging alone was worth it for me!

Good luck, sorry I can't be of more help,

Jeff

Thanks, I had a feeling Feather might need 6.1 to work properly. The installation of WM6.1 seems easy enough, but I see in the 51-page thread that quite a few folks have had issues. I'll probably give a try.

Sure do appreciate the help,

OK, successfully upgraded to 6.1 and then Feather worked with no problems. Nice!

Showaco, I'd suggest editing your top post to mention that Feather ONLY works with WM6.1.

Thanks again for the help and the app,

Thought I had it all set up, but I can't figure out how to get all the weather info. I now have nice graphics on the start menu with the temp and other info, but I can't figure out how to get the full forecast, 5-day forecast, or radar.

I see from some of the screen shots that the right soft key should say Weather Options or Next Day, but mine just says Contacts. And I don't have a 1/6 slider like some of the other screenshots.

Any advice?

Alright,

I have wasted half a day searching this bloody site and no one has a concrete answer or solution to the icons not showing up in the clock panel.

The scrolling ticker is a nice function and all, but I don't have ten minutes to spend waiting for the temperature to appear amidst all of the other info. I see all these beautiful screenshots of great clock / weather panels, but I cannot get it to function on my phone and no one has bothered to actually write up a CLEAR AND CONCISE fix or work around for this.

Once again, could some one please (and clearly) state how it is I can get my phone to display the actual icons and other information correctly in the clock panel. Thank you!

I am running HTCS620 w/ WM6.1 Rose R&S mod with HTC default theme and their "top bar" skin. I have gone through so many files and just cannot get it to work. Anyone?

And the clockpanel reset keeps crashing my phone. I don't know why, but I am having far too many issues with this app, which sucks cause the weather applet that comes with WM6.1Rose, is completely botched with process that has a massive memory leak. Is it just THAT hard to program a weather applet or what?

Nice app. I wanted it to scroll across my screen when its in portrait, but it only goes a little , then the next line comes up. Also, how do you change to see the next days and the radar? I haven't figured that out.

I am using a moto q9c, WM6.1, unlocked, 2.14b feather weather. I have used it successfully for a long time now, but I just changed locations for the summer, and updated the zip code. After this update, feather no longer updates. It shows that it is connecting to accuweather, but it never pulls any info. The name of the town doesn't display, and the weather hasn't moved in weeks. 52* and foggy all the time.

What do I need to do?

Here's the link stylez in referring to...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422445&page=12

That's all you'll need to do, update the server address in the feather.mscr file in the feather program directory.

Good luck,

Here is the new server

Find:

link=ReadFile in .mscr and change to quoted.

link=ReadFile("http://wwwa.accuweather.com/adcbin/forecastfox/weather_data.asp?location="&location&"&metric="&metric)

b.t.w it's metric on end seems posting into quote splits it.............

Yep. Go into feather options (go to the feather panel on the homescreen and select the right soft key for options), Then select Forecast Options/Setup and hit the left soft key (OK). Now select Forecast Update Interval and hit OK, then for the number enter 0. Then hit Done, cancel out of everything else until you're back to the homescreen. That should stop the forecast from ever updating unless you go into the forecast screen and manually update it.

Good luck,

Jeff

Oh, sorry, re-read your message. Sounds like you found another way around the updates.

As for getting rid of the temp text on the right hand side of the "condensed clock view", here's what you'll need to do. FInd the .cpr file you're using (Mine is called HTCSlidingPanel_240x320.cpr located in \Application Data\Home), and look in it for this exact section:

<Layer ID="ClockCondensed" Visible="False" Width="240" Height="36">
<Layer ID="Page">
<!-- Icon on left side -->
<Image ID="Icon" Left="70" Top="0" Width="24" Height="24" />
<Image ID="dash" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\-.png" Left="213" Top="6" Width="0" Height="10" />
<Image ID="today" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\today.png" Left="149" Top="4" Width="35" Height="15" />
<Image ID="Day1Digit1h" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\day1digit1h.png" Left="185" Top="6" Width="7" Height="10" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="Day1Digit2h" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\day1digit2h.png" Left="192" Top="6" Width="7" Height="10" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="Day1Digit3h" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\day1digit3h.png" Left="199" Top="6" Width="7" Height="10" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="Day1Digit4h" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\day1digit4h.png" Left="206" Top="6" Width="7" Height="10" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="Day1Digit1l" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\day1digit1l.png" Left="219" Top="6" Width="7" Height="10" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="Day1Digit2l" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\day1digit2l.png" Left="226" Top="6" Width="7" Height="10" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="Day1Digit3l" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\day1digit3l.png" Left="233" Top="6" Width="7" Height="10" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="CTempDigit1" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\digit1.png" Left="5" Top="3" Width="15" Height="18" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="CTempDigit2" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\digit2.png" Left="20" Top="3" Width="15" Height="18" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="CTempDigit3" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\digit3.png" Left="35" Top="3" Width="15" Height="18" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="CTempFC" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\degree.png" Left="52" Top="4" Width="10" Height="8" Opacity="1" />
<!-- Title or Condensed Line 1 -->
<Text ID="Text 1" Left="43" Top="7" Width="0" Height="0" FontFamily="Nina" FontSize="9" FontStyle="Regular" Wrap="False" VerticalAlignment="Middle" Trimming="EllipsisCharacter" Opacity="1"></Text>
<!-- Condensed Line 2 -->
<Text ID="Text 2" Left="98" Top="2" Width="75" Height="19" FontFamily="Nina" FontSize="8" FontStyle="Bold" Wrap="False" VerticalAlignment="Middle" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Trimming="EllipsisCharacter" Opacity="1"></Text>
</Layer>
</Layer>

Now, remove the parts that say the following (I'm going to try to bold the pertinent stuff, but don't know if I can in a code box)

<Image ID="dash" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\-.png" Left="213" Top="6" Width="0" Height="10" />
<Image ID="today" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\today.png" Left="149" Top="4" Width="35" Height="15" />
<Image ID="Day1Digit1h" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\day1digit1h.png" Left="185" Top="6" Width="7" Height="10" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="Day1Digit2h" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\day1digit2h.png" Left="192" Top="6" Width="7" Height="10" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="Day1Digit3h" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\day1digit3h.png" Left="199" Top="6" Width="7" Height="10" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="Day1Digit4h" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\day1digit4h.png" Left="206" Top="6" Width="7" Height="10" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="Day1Digit1l" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\day1digit1l.png" Left="219" Top="6" Width="7" Height="10" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="Day1Digit2l" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\day1digit2l.png" Left="226" Top="6" Width="7" Height="10" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="Day1Digit3l" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\day1digit3l.png" Left="233" Top="6" Width="7" Height="10" Opacity="1" />

Now mind you, that's the stuff you want to REMOVE from the code in the first box. Leave everything else so it basicall looks like this:

<Layer ID="ClockCondensed" Visible="False" Width="240" Height="36">
<Layer ID="Page">
<!-- Icon on left side -->
<Image ID="Icon" Left="70" Top="0" Width="24" Height="24" />
<Image ID="CTempDigit1" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\digit1.png" Left="5" Top="3" Width="15" Height="18" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="CTempDigit2" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\digit2.png" Left="20" Top="3" Width="15" Height="18" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="CTempDigit3" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\digit3.png" Left="35" Top="3" Width="15" Height="18" Opacity="1" />
<Image ID="CTempFC" Source="\Program Files\FeatherWeather\panelicons\degree.png" Left="52" Top="4" Width="10" Height="8" Opacity="1" />
<!-- Title or Condensed Line 1 -->
<Text ID="Text 1" Left="43" Top="7" Width="0" Height="0" FontFamily="Nina" FontSize="9" FontStyle="Regular" Wrap="False" VerticalAlignment="Middle" Trimming="EllipsisCharacter" Opacity="1"></Text>
<!-- Condensed Line 2 -->
<Text ID="Text 2" Left="90" Top="0" Width="75" Height="19" FontFamily="Nina" FontSize="10" FontStyle="Bold" Wrap="False" VerticalAlignment="Middle" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Trimming="EllipsisCharacter" Opacity="1"></Text>
</Layer>
</Layer>

Now, I did try to tweak your clock a bit there, so here's what I changed in case you don't like it or it didn't work as intended. It's the last line of the last code box that starts with <Text ID="Text 2". I changed the Left="98" to Left="90" to try to move it slighty left, and I changed the Top="2" to Top="0" to try to vertically align it better. THen I upped the FontSize="8" to FontSize="10" but it'll be your call as to whether or not that's too big. I don't have a landscape device to try this on.

IMPORTANT: Once you've edited the .cpr file, copy it over into the following 3 folders, just to be safe. (back up the one in the feather program directory first!)

Copy to:
\Windows
\Application Data\Home
\Program Files\FeatherWeather

Overwrite whichever ones it prompts you to...

THen just click on the feather panel on the homescreen to bring up the forecast panel, and when you hit "Back" it should load the newly edited homescreen layout.

Let us know how it goes.

Good luck,

Jeff

Thanks for the update 0 though as that helps ;)

Hi again,

Just to confirm, you DID change the feed info in the feather.mscr file to read like the following:

link=ReadFile("http://wwwa.accuweather.com/adcbin/forecastfox/weather_data.asp?location="&location&"&metric="&metric)

I think you mentioned this in an earlier post, just wanted to make sure you carried it forward...

Good luck. Post us a screenshot once you've got everything the way you like it please.

THanks!

Hi Guys,

Dont know if it is me alone, i have Shadow 2009 and these are the issues i am facing:

1. I dont get any image in the sliding pane, all i get in its place is a enlarged analog clock icon.
2. Inspite of changing the location, its not changing it in the sliding panel.
3. The weather forecast is not for my area although i have given my zip.

Yeah, i am using the new link.

Thanks in advance :)
