View Full Version : Tilt's speakerphone performance?

Has anyone had good results using the Tilt's spearkerphone? I just got mine and everyone says my voice breaks up and theirs sounds like it's emanating from a tin can on the Tilt's speaker. My old simple Nokia 6102i performed better than this on speakerphone so I expected at least the same quality on this phone. But I want to learn if others have the same issue or if I got a defective phone.

Or perhaps a certain volume adjustment is needed?

(???)

If you're not going to search, at least keep your questions in one thread ;)

The speakerphone has been okay for me; not the best thing but it runs fine. It's a little harsh so you can't understand a lot and the microphone isn't very sensitive.

Yeah, sorry for jumping the gun instead of searching first. :o

Having done a search here for speakerphone I found at least one person with the problem and what he thinks is a fix here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=388331).

I was facing the same problem. After upgraded to WM6.1, problem solved. I think it is the speakerphone algorithm problem with the WM6.0. Please check your windows mobile version.

Dumb question, but where do I find that? I opened ABOUT from SETTINGS and found:

Windows Mobile 6 Professional
CE OS 5.2.1662 (Build 18128.0.4.4)

I don't see 6.1 anywhere... so wuddya think?

This means your phone is using WM6.0. Upgrade to WM6.1.

My speakerphone sounds tinny; I have to turn the volume down to about 80% to even understand the caller.

The real problem is that no one can understand ANYTHING I say when using the speakerphone. This is my third Tilt (one just died, one had a screen die.) Kinda defeats the purpose of having a speakerphone!

try garmin's v2 rom! for some reason it has worked wonder with my speakerphone! I was even able to talk in my car with both windows rolled down and the party still was able to hear me with no problems! Never was i able to achieve this with stock or any other rom out there!

try garmin's v2 rom!

What is that and where can I learn more about this.

Also, are you talking about any additional hardware devices such as external speakerphone devices to use with my phone?

Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback. At least I know it's not just me. For anyone not using the speakerphone, I guess it's no big deal. But for someone who makes real use of it the Tilt is very disappointing and perhaps impossible or useless to employ.

Wouldn't that void my phone's warranty? (AT&T)

I am from Malaysia. I sent my Kaiser back to HTC Distributor side and they upgraded WM6.1 for me. It works fine for me. The speakerphone now is lough and clear. I am not sure about AT&T, you may call them.

Yeah, WM 6.1 is not yet available for AT&T Tilt users. It has been released from MS to AT&T, though. They are still in pre-release testing and such I guess. Upgrading a non-AT&T release would void the warranty.
