quick questions about flashing my rom

well, right now im using the tmobile rom and get about 4 mb free of program memory on startup and i am sick of it. my questions are,

1. What is that chance that i will brick my phone
2. What rom should i flash to
3. Where is a cab file for fav 5
4. Is flashing your rom illegal

3. you don't need the cab to use fav5, just set them through tmo and calls shouldn't be charged
