View Full Version : Crap... JIM... I think I may have BRICKED it

Well I was enjoying my Diamond today (picked it up from my local Telus store here in Vancouver, BC.) I was disappointed with the aGPS functionality so I tried to enter into service mode and load up the recommended applications (in other posts on PPCGeeks - I think the code was ##3326 or something like that...) Well - tried to install the application from the PC but unfortunately my PC didn't have the necessary file to do it. I started on my merry way using the phone anyhow and things were working fine without a hitch until I tried to take some video and the device slowed to a crawl. I decided to go ahead and soft reset the unit to clear things out. Right after I did this I the machine went into boot mode (where Touch Diamond heading appears and the red ROM information displays.) This is exactly where it has stayed. I thought maybe the battery was dead so I plugged it into the wall and let it sit for a while. Then I picked it up to see if it would boot. No go - WM 6.1 will not boot up. After to attempting to boot again several times through soft reset I decided the only choice I would have would be to hard reset. I held down the volume down button and held down the enter button, pushed in the reset button with the style... let up the reset button (still holding down volume down and enter...) and waited for the impending message to appear confirming a wipe. No Show Dorthy... nothing - zilch, nadda noonkah. So now I'm sitting here looking at this beautiful piece of equipment wondering if I have bricked the unit by entering the service mode and not getting out (pardon my ignorance on the topic... I'm a rank noob.)

Long story short - I'm looking for assistance, guidance, and help. The Touch Diamond screen just stares me in the face every time I try and reboot and I'm getting frustrated. It was by an act of the high heavens that I actually got the unit (the store only had 2) and I am praying there is hope for my lovely piece of lush ... albeit useless... Diamond...

SOS to the masters.

Sincerely,

Tweaking Diamond User:confused::confused::confused::confused:

I don't know what you mean by service mode. Does it display SERIAL or USB? What do you exactly see. Don't think you bricked it, you need more for that :)

Not sure what you did to the ROM but it doesnt sound like you went into boot loader - rather just reset the device.

Hold down the down volume button while you hit reset and keep holding the down volume until the unit goes into a three color screen. Once its there that is the bootloader. Probably best to Hard SPL it from there and then load another quality ROM onto it.

open the back take out the battery for 10 seconds, reinstall battery, boot it up!
.it should work. if not, then you have one very expensive BRICK!

I second mr_cat's solution. You need to enter in the bootloader mode...

This is a CDMA device... do not use hardspl or any roms on here, as there is no good reason to believe the gsm roms will help you... I suggest as gtpete does... remove the batt for a small period of time then try again. When trying to hard reset make sure you keep the vol dn and enter buttons held until you see the clear storage screen... don't let up too early.

Failing any of this return it to telus... no damage no foul...

Well, for clarification, what model of the diamond are we speaking of? The DIAM100 is certainly NOT a CDMA device. I'm in the US and use a GSM provider so I can't speak of Telus.

I have both an asian gsm diamond and a telus cdma diamond... it is consider model diam500 or p3051.

I would assume he means that he took it back to telus.

And what is this service mode you speak of?

Mathew

It is CDMA specific
