View Full Version : TouchPal 3.5 and HTC Diamond = incompatibility !!!

Does anyone else have the following problem ?:

When you go to the SMS tab, and press the small box to start writing new SMS, if you use the original Diamond keyboard, you can just type a few letters of your contact and it will fully appear. If you use TouchPal (I'm using version 3.5), this feature is disabled, you have to type your entire contact name every time, it doesn't recognize the first few letters and try to find a match. This is SO annoying !

Please tell me there is some workaround...

Could it be that the Diamond's original keyboard stores all the contact information in the Keyboard dictionary ?, if this is true, it means no keyboard apart from Diamond's original will allow quick find of contacts in SMS...

no problem with me..
say for eg you wanna call "home"
just press H O and enter and then it will detect home in my contact.

i suspect the problem may be.. touchpal "store" what you pressed in its own list instead of going up to the SMS directly..

The contacts don't display when you start typing, but if you only type a few letters and then press send a page appears with all contacts that have the letters you've typed in their names. You can then tap the contact you wish to send to.

I don't find it a problem.

How the hell did you figure that out ?, I would have never tried it myself...

Please tell me there is some workaround...slide up the 'enter' key on single-key layout for disable word prediction. then u can get back the single letter search and few letters matching feature just like original Diamond keyboard

desol, does it work for you if you don't disable word prediction ?, Wizard claimed in this thread that even in word prediction it works...

Here is the quote of Wizard:

yea i think touchpal has alot of problems. liek the new v3.5 when i ever type in the word "its" or "were" in my sprint diamond, phone restarts wtf and same thing in the htc mogul.
Anyone have this issue to or a fix to it?

Yeah, I would be interested also to know if anyone managed to solve this restarting issue after typing "were" or "its".

I just noticed it this morning. Although I wrote a lot of documents so far using TouchPal, I do not remember having this happened before (probably I didn't use these words until now, could it be possible?)

Did anyone contacted their Customer Support?

EDIT - SOLUTION - go in Tools (the 5th upper button on the keyboard), and uncheck "Predict based on context". Voila. No more resets.
