Hi all,

yeaterday I installed Nadavi HTC Camera cab file. the installation did not finished, it failed (however I see that the free space on the device is smaller now).
since then, the camera shows me "unable to initialize camera. failed to set up the camera device".

I tried:
to run it from windows/camera.exe
to put out the battary for 15 minutes
read all the related posts
installed the Nadavi_OLD_HTC_Camera_5_0_4_2915_00 - did not helped

is there any solution for this?

thanks,

Royi.

If all else fails you'll have to try a hard reset. Remember to back up all your contacts and messages first.

I would consider reflashing the phone with the same (or maybe a different/cooked) ROM; I'm positive that your problem is related exclusively to software.
Good luck!

i'm a newbe at this...
you got any guide or something like that for this procedure?
plus, what version do you recommend?

Just to rule out a bad ROM I'd flash the original 6.0 ROM first to verify that the camera indeed works. If not, then you must remove hardspl and send your phone to service. If it starts working again you can try the cooked 6.1 ROM again.

the problem is that i'm already using the original ROM.
I never installed a new rom.

my rom ver is:
1.25.405.1 WWE

radio:
1.58.21.23

Protocol ver:
25.65.30.04H

so, is it really needed to install the oroginal rom again?

If it's not modified, then it may worth taking your chance with the service.

I don't know the camera fix you applied, so I don't know that it was trying to do. But since you have not upgraded the ROM or changed the SPL to HardSPL I would send it in for repair if you are still under warranty.

If not, I'd try reflashing the original ROM if you can get it. That way you will reflash everything in case the camera fix overwrote something, but that I find quite unlikely, but it's your last best hope if you are out of warranty, unless you want to pay for a repair that is.

If you have tried both original and cooked ROMS, what do you think? I'd say it's obviously a hardware issue. Reflash original ROM and remove HardSPL and return the device to service.

I tried only to flash to udk7 ROM. is it worth a try to flash to the original one?

Yes, I'd certainly try the original too since it contains OS, radio and the whole lot.

Is your camera work one time or never ?
If never work just send the Phone to HTC or go to your operator ( SAB: Service After Buying ??? like SAV in france ?).
Have you try to flash with a new RADIO rom like 1.64.**.**

Where do you bought your phone ?

Same problem for me.
Send the phone to HTC. It's a hardware problem.
Don't try any flash o fixing. If the camera don't work after a hard reset, you have a motherboard problem.
Send it to HTC and they will change the board. I have now a new IMEI number.

why are you so sure that this is the same problem with the same reasons?
did your issue started as well with an application installation?

Because with the original rom, if a hard reset not resolve the problem, it's a hardware problem.
My phone had also problems with bluetooth. After the service repair (motherboard change) all works great .

Did you d the HARD RESET because I've replicated this issue three times whilst playing around trying to fix the blurry camera problem and a hard reset fixed the problem each time.

Before you try flashing it, (and I'd be cautious about that advice if you dont know what you are doing, as it can invalidate your warranty at best or brick your phone (dead phone) at worst) try this:

Backup your data - PIMBACKUP is good for contacts and messages and its free.

Make a backup of your card on your pc.

Remove your SD Card.

Click Start Menu > Settings > Clear Storage.

Let your phone reset.

Go through the initial setup of the phone try the camera.

If it works and fails again when you put your SD Card in then come back again on here.

If the camera still doesnt function then it might be hardware related but I doubt it.
