This is really for the cooks to have a look at
http://www.viddler.com/explore/WMExperts/videos/2/
The Omnia has some really great software features built in maybe some of them can be ported into a custom Diamond ROM by the cooks. Haptic feedback with sensitivity control, alarm app, barcode reader, google launcher, etc...
What do you think?

The interface is much smoother on the Omnia than the Diamond, very noticeable when he scrolls in the programs folder compared to the stuttery scrolling on the Diamond.
Would also love to see that zoom out then zoom in when the phone is tilted, that looks awesome :D
Samsung has done an excellent job on that interface.

Personally, I don't like much the Omnia interface, but one thing is a fact: Omnia is much much faster than Diamond...

Crap. Nothing more. You must realize, that Omnia redraw about cca 3.5 times pixels less than Diamond. That is all. That is why she is fater. Nothing more. Samsung did excellent work? Why? Let me prove my words - these benchmarks are from Omnia by SPB benchmark: CPU:1847 , Diamond: CPU: 2299, OK, and dont forgett that Omnia has 624 MHz CPU, But Diamond only 528! And he is still much faster. You may say that new Marvell 624 MHz CPUs are bad, but they are not - HP Ipaq 214 with same CPU as Omnia has 2500 spb benchmark CPU test points. OK, you could say that Omnia has 5500 points in graphic test, but Diamond only 1600 - yes, but Diamond has VGA screen. Ipaq 214 has VGA screen too, and has 1600 points too. So, Diamond graphic points are 1600*4. So, Samsung did relativelly bad job, compared to ather phones with same CPU like Omnia.

are you mad??? ;)so U can count how long it takes to do the screen rotation and compare it to diamond with gsen, another thing diamond rotates VGA 640x480, Omnia only!!! WQVGA 240 x 400 so U can count again... and I ll give you my Diamond if samsung omnia will have such a forum and amateur development and support as Diamond :D

Yeah and also, the Omnia interface doesn't seem to use a lot of ressource, that is why it is fast.
Graphics from HTC Diamond are more beautiful => more ressource (RAM + CPU) => slower
That is all ;)

Yeah, but it would be great if we had other alternatives to the Toucho3D, besides SPB mobile shell...

looks very slick ..... i like it! Only problem I should think would be because the samsung is a non-vga screen

one more reason to keep it off and solve important problems like mp3 lag, lock display when incoming call etc..;) no fence

One of the great "features" with being a community is that some ppl will focus on those particular problems whereas another user might choose to focus on this.
I doubt that the problems that you list will be resolved quicker depending on whether someone chooses to try porting the UI used on the Omnia.
I would love to try out the Omnia interface, after all, the diversity of windows mobile is one of the stronger points in buying/using a HTC device, at least for me...

Aww come on guys..
Not another "diamond vs omnia" thread.
We just wanna know if we can port the best of Omnia onto the diamond. Thats it!. I am looking forward to the haptic feedback though. I think our gurus can easily develop a similar one, but.. whos gonna do it? :P

One of programs I like in Omnia and want in my Diamond is the Task manager in one buton. Diamond only shows it in TF3D. If you are reading an e-mail you canīt switch to another program if you donīt go to today and click on task manager. Today Iīm using SPB Pocket Plus that I can set one button to do the same of the alt+tab of a PC. It shows all the programs runign in background. Does anyone have another idea besides the SPB Pocket plus to do this?

I totally agree that this thread should not be another Omnia Vs Diamond thread.
I’m fully aware that the Omnia has a smaller screen resolution hence it has less work to do which is the reason the animations are smoother or appear to be faster. To be honest I’m not bothered about that.
What I want is for the cooks to look at the Omnia ROM and see if anything useful can be ported over to the diamond. If they have haptic feedback, why can’t we? If they have a task manager why can’t we? etc...

Hi guys,
just wondering if anyone came across a cab file or or a rom dump of the Samsung's Omnia to install the TouchWiz UI on the Diamond or Diamond pro.
Could be interesting.
I'll start investigating.

How about porting the Diamond interface to the Omnia? This is something I'd be interested in seeing.

Don't you need a special screen for haptic feedback or vibrating motors under it?

the interface es very simple, only are shortcut to wm applications, it havent new applications.
i think that these todays are very easy to make with spb...
i think the diamond interface is better (but it could be even better)

I guess I'm the only one who really likes the Omnia interface. I would like it as an alternative for the Touchflow.
