Diamond Camera Issue! Please Help

Hi Guys,

My apologies if this has been posted already, but I couldn’t seem to find anything on it.....I have had my Diamond for about 2 weeks and the camera hardly ever works. 90% of the time when i start it all i get is the Photo logo and then a blank screen. If i push the capture button, a few seconds later I get the error "Unable to capture photo. Unable to get frame data from camera device". I have done the latest HTC official update to ROM 1.93, I have soft reset and hard reset and no luck :( Sometimes if I do a soft reset it will work for a little bit and then just stop working again.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

you may need to install one of x-dev custom ROMs, or try hard reseting your diamond. if the problem still exist after Hard Reset, probably it is hardware trouble.

read read and read before you install Cooked roms from xda-developers. you need to do HardSPL before instaling any other ROMs

I have hard reset the device a few times, and no luck. I dont reallt want to install a cooked ROM, I dont think I can handle it to be honest. I will take it that it is a Hardware fault and I will be sending it back tmrw. Thanks again!

Hi Grim! I have the same problem. I've installed 1.93 official ROM and even SwiftBl 7.5, I've upgraded my Radio From .05 to .08 , but my camera is still like yours.
Have you find a solution? Did HTC service Center change your device?

I have same problem. Camera crashes after 1 or two photo. I have black screen.

Tried many Rom's. no fix .

This issue realy bugs me now. Every time I've change the OS it work for a bit then it dies. realy anoying. Anyones suggestion may be usefull.


If it is the hardware - is it the camera? Could it be just gone loose?

There´s few steps to take.

If camera works sometimes, I think, it´s not a camera problem on itself.

(IF YOU HAVE ACCESS TO PARTS AND YOU KNOW WHAT U`RE DOING)
Try this:
Exchange flex and flash (use official RUU htc).
Or:
Put phone inbootloader, disconnect flex from board (while working and booloader on) and flash.

If everything else fails, I´m affraid the PCB has internal flash IC problems.

Dont have parts but will open it and check flex. If flash is gone how come mtty does not flag some segments as bad. Checking around the web looks like I am not the only one with this problem.

this camera for touch diamond is screwing..

tried various methods.. flashed everything possible..
still no luck..
if any xda user outthere.. who has the solution for this problem..
please help up..

I've found out if you take the battery out for 10 secs and put it back the camera works again untill you run another app. It feels like as soon as you run something else with camera it is screwed!
