Great looking, I'll try it out later. I was looking through the TOOLS folder and noticed the older PagePool app was still used... You might want to update the kitchen to this one so everything is newer ;)

Vista works fine with alexs kitchen, i have been using it for 3 months with no issues, sounds like you have removed or edited something you shouldn't, unfortunately there is an element of trial and error to cooking, especially when removing stuff, switching to this kitchen will probably still have the same issue, try again!
Good luck

Ok, so since I got my replacement the other day I have been sorta quiet. Well let me explain my scenario....
WHen I use the Extract command in your kitchen then B for using the RUU_signed.nbh it works fine....
My problem is that for some reason the xip.bin and XIP folders are empty????
I know it makes a ROM folder on my desktop with an XIP folder but it too is empty. This didn't happen on your first release...
Any ideas.

hmmm, do you have .Net installed on your computer? also, once you install that, try it again and see if it still happens
@ryncppr: ive only encountered this problem when trying to set a base rom other than a shipped rom. try settin a different rom as your base, preferabbly a shipped one, and see if the same thing happens

Hi,
Thanks for this great way to cook. Before I start, there are a couple question I would really like answered:
How does putting things in ROM affect the overall memory usage in my Tilt?
Do programs in ROM get executed from ROM or are they loaded from ROM to RAM and then executed?
If that is the case what is the advantage to having an app cooked into ROM vs just having it on my SD card?
The answers to these question will go a long way into understanding what should be cooked and what should not.
THANKS!

Hi man, thanks for the response:
1. By memory usage do you mean RAM or ROM?
2. I believe they are loaded from ROM to RAM, but someone please correct me if I am wrong!

I am referring to RAM. You are probably correct that a program when it is executed goes from ROM or RAM into program RAM and is executed there.
That being the case, does it load faster going from ROM to RAM then from SD card to RAM? That would seem to me to be the only advantage to ROM - loading speed. If that is really the case. It sure would be nice to know this for sure.

Ok so sometimes the XIP is extracted other times its not. It seems to work perfectly except when I am doing things in the background. ie surfing the web.....
So here is my latest problem and its killing me...so any insight will be wonderful!!!
I am trying to cook using the newest ATT 214 ROM. Cooking goes fine all seems to work but when the Customizations box pops up that says " in 3 seconds" it starts the customizing processes then it disappears. The phone completely locks up.
THis has nothing to do with your Kitchen just wondering if you have any ideas...

actually, I've heard that it is the ROM that takes this long to load because of the cabinet files it loads during this period. Have you added your own .cabs to be installed during this period?

I have completely stripped the OEMOperators Package and have my own...
WHats happening is the ROM loads, go through the calibrating the screen, click skip a few times and the Green Windows screen loads. THe box for Customizing will begin in 3 seconds pops up and it starts.
After starting it changes my .tsk file and starts to run the NetCF3.5 cab file like instructed. It then quits. The screen that shows the progress disappears.. and it shows the homes screen. Problem is the phone is not usable at this point and I need to soft reset...
Once I soft reset it goes through the same thing over and over!
I am going to post this in the main section of the forum to see if anyone has an idea too...

The weird thing that I am seeing is that some of the packages that I didn't add are showing up in my ROM. And the Ringtone Icon on the HTC Home is a different type then the others. It's a Vista 6 one I believe while the rest are default. And QuickMenu was also installed when I had not selected it. Could just be weird occurrences I'll try to build it again. Other than that everything seems to be going awesome!
**Edit**
Rebuilt the ROM and the HTC Home is fixed, but for some reason Quick menu is still being installed even when not selected. Oh well not a big deal! :D

OK I'm getting farther along in the process. In Ervius Package Tools I get an error "Error, last status: "Creating initflashfiles.dat" it's the String reference not set to the instance of a String. Parameter name: s. Similar to a poster before.
I got the smae error in the Ervius Packaging BuildOS thing. It's in everey kitchen... :(

Can you not just cook the exe into the rom and then run it via config.txt?

Excellent -I will need to do this myself in the next day or so.
This kitchen is definitely the best one I have tried by the way.
Would you know if there are any instructions as to using the advanced features on BuildOS in this, or the package element?

thanks man ;)
I don't know if there are instruction to using the advanced features in BuildOS, but most of them are made for other devices anyway, so I don't think we'll see those for the kaiser unless it gets updated. The Package tool doesn't have any tutorials, but once you learn a bit about packages, it comes naturally :)
good luck cooking ;)

OK, I just thought at some point I might look into this porting business in the future, and there looked to be some tools there. - the only other thing I have added to the tools folder was the OEMizer, and I also have used a sdconfig builder for UC.
Incidentally, when I changed to using Solace as the base, my UC did not run - dunno why. I swapped out the UC folder from solace for one that worked with my previous base, rebuilt it and this time it ran. It could well have been something else that I did though, but hey ho.

When cooking I get "data exception" and then after all seems to go well it will later on stay in the bootloader if tried to flash. =/ tried it with a clean rom from the list and a rom I added an app too so I'm not too sure.
