I have just received my athena and it allready is a mess. I have installed tomtom 6 (legal) and the europe maps. When i try to use the GPS it does not find enough satellites, no matter how long i wait.

I have set it to other NMA receiver and baud 4800. I have also read all the thread i have been able to find here but there is not really a solution in there.

It does find a few satellites but not strong enough to lock. The athena is not in a case/bag and should work a lot better.

Any help here? Thanks

out of the factory box, my X7510 works fine when i'm outdoors

but when i'm indoors, it complains it can;t find any satellite, even when i'm right next to the window.

i'll try those settings

it's all a matter of sky/satellite visibility
one person may, another may not.
i'm in mahnattan, it's impossible unless you overlook central park from 10 stories up facing west (more sats there)
nothing's broken, it's just how gps is....

Yup, mine has almost never gotten a lock indoors (maybe once in the last year). It also rarely gets a lock if I'm already moving, so if I know I'll need it I get a lock before I start the car - but it might take from 15 seconds to several minutes. Once I have a lock, I can go just about anywhere, including deep inside my house.

It just has poor reception. My old Palm with an external GPS can get a lock anywhere within 15 seconds, every time. I'm considering trying that external GPS unit with my Athena but I need to get a 4-in-1 cable first.
