I have searched the forum and I keep finding sources that say you have to have data plan and use the e-mail function in order to send pictures. Am I missing something or is the TILT capable of sending picture texts? It seems sort of ridiculous for such an expensive phone to not have such a basic capability. Sorry if this is a retarded question but I cant seem to find the answer on the forum.

You don't need a data plan to send MMS. aka Picture text.

Keep one thing in mind when using MMS. Pictures & text cannot exceed 600k. It has something to do with AT&T's OTA servers or something.

so i tried to send the picture text and it seemed that i had to connect to the gsm network in order to send it. i have picture text in my plan but no data plan, is there any way i can do this for free without having to get on the network?

It will temporarily connect to Media Net. Don't worry, as soon as it's finished sending/recieving it will disconnect. If you have a picture messaging package, then any picture message less that 600k is free for you, unless it's sent to someone not on AT&T. I've been doing it for years & trust me, I don't get billed for internet usage. I promise!

Lets put it like this. When you send a picture, you do in fact access the internet. It is called a MMS (Multi Media Message). AT&T says as long as you have a SMS plan that allows MMS to send and receive, you will not get charged. However there is a size limit of 600k. As for my tilt, I keep the internet disabled. I Am too cheap for a data plan right now. I only enable my data when I know a MMS message is coming. If you don't have an internet plan through AT&T you can have what they call pay as you go data. You get charged for the usage by KB (Kilobytes). With the tilt and how it likes to access the internet all the time, this can get pricey. Just a FYI... :D
