Radio and IPL/SPL

Hi, I am looking for some information on updating the Radio and IPL/SPL. How dangerous is the upgrade process and what are the benefits for both?

There is no any unofficial IPL/SPL upgrade available. The latest is 4.01 which is in Cingular latest official ROM.
You can just make a SuperCID (if your device is not a Cingular) and flash this Cingular ROM. Or use a SoftSPL instead of SuperCID.

One of the benefit of 4.01 bootloader is less risk of error(brick) when flashing unofficial roms. There is 3.06 bootloader also which is very problematic - many startrek devices became dead with that version.
