I've already done some improvements to TLock. But I wan't to make some more taking advantage of some of the code used in the last ThrottleLauncher version ;).
Have you softreseted after the install? Also check that you have the autolock enabled in the config dialog...
Sure, everything is enabled and I did a softreset after installation. Its not a big deal because I'm using V0.6 now which is working flawlessly. But of course I'm very happy to here that you are working on a new version :D

Try turning up the 'idle time before lock' up from 0. Then exit the settings program then go back in and move the slider back to 0.
This has worked for me in the past.
(no need to reset)
p.s. I had previously been using this on wm6.1 and experienced the occasional crash ... now using it on wm 6.5.5 (Christians rom) and I've had no issues at all :)
glad to hear your still developing it :)

OK here's what i figured out(on HD2 US version):
1. the Tlock was locking automatically but the second locking app was appearing HTC s2u thing. When i disabled it in the registry Tlock was also not locking automatically. I softreseted a few times turning it off and on, it started to work. I have no idea what was the reason
2. I created my own skin, with 480x800 back.png and it's showing only 240x320 top left side of my creation. I checked all other skins and they have small resolution png's. I found nothing about scaling to the resolution in the xml file also. P
3. 3d effect is working slow and stops working at all. But it works after I tap at the screen, also the background is moving in 3d also.
please help me with the wVGA backgrounds

hi APBilbo,
thanks for the great app, i love it at first slight.
i have one of these problems, maybe i don't know how to setup it up properly.
i'm using the cookie home tab with wm6.5, i have disable the wm default lock function. everything seem to be working fine, except when i'm receiving call.
the slide bar didn't show up, so i have to unlock with my pattern first, before i can answer phone call.
i prefer the windows default slide bar in the middle of the screen instead of the slide bar on top of the page, any suggestion / help how should i setup my setting in both TL and cookie home tab preference?
thanks a million

Amazing product thank you very much.
I second the idea to hide the blue line until after you've entered an incorrect pattern.
really like this but i have two things that i would like to be implemented(or at least considered) in future versions if possible:
1. an option to automatically hide the blue line as you are drowning your combination. should look much cooler and its more secure in case someone looks at your combinations as they they have a much higher chance of not remembering or figuring out your combination.
2. an option to increase the register area around the points(if thats what they call it). this should help greatly in inputing the combination faster especially on relativly small screens. im spending more time than i should unlocking my xperia because i have to be extra slow and carful.
also, why are some people using this AND s2u2. APBilbo, how about you talk to a_c and procuce an application that combines both functions

Hi.
I love the concept of this application and was eager to try it but I can't seem to get it to auto-lock my HD2 when the screen is manually turned off with the call end button.
Thanks,

working great on my hd2 :)
1. there's still a typo when accessing appointments. it says "Weiter sppointment" wich should be "Nächster Termin" if it's supposed to mean "next appointment" in german.
2. lock on startup isn't always on top as it sould be. it gets covered by sense, saying it's starting... you need to turn the screen off and on again to gain access to tlock.
been playing for 5 minutes yet ... maybe i'll find some more...
thanks!

2. I will check it :). Thanks!

Hi!
thank you very much for the feedback. About the issues:
1. Do you have the 3D effect on? That does consume some battery indeed... Also try turning of the haptic feedback, it will also save battery.
2. For the double unlock, have you softreseted after the instalation of ThrottleLock? It theorically disables the WM6.5 lock, but you have to softreset for that to work.
Thanks!

I've been experimenting with a way to show the today screen while the device is locked.... though it still needs some work :(.

- It does support french :)
- CPU usage is 0% unless when you're drawing the pattern and when the time or other notification changes that it hit's a little bit the CPU.
- AFAIK it's safe to install in any WinMo device :)
Thanks for your interest!

Hi. I have tried v0.8 for about 30 minutes, and now I cannot uninstall it.
First I installed v0.7 , then I realized that v0.8 was out, so I uninstalled 0.7 and installed 0.8.
I am on a htc touch pro 2, with an energy rom, and cookies HTeditor.
Throttlelock itself seems to work ok, and its a nice program all in all. But for me its not the right thing, so I want to uninstall.
But uninstalling fails!
If I uninstall with "remove programs", the phone either hangs, or it seems to uninstall normally and rebooting automatically . but the program still stays there.
How can I uninstall it please?
thanks,
sig

First of all, it's really weird the uninstalation is not working for you... I've tried it on WM5, WM6.1, WM6.5 and WM6.5.3 and it works perfectly always... Have installed the app to an storage card or something similar?
Anyway, please try the following:
- Open ThrottleLock settings. Disable the lock on startup and the autolock check boxes. Hit save.
- Softreset
- Try uninstalling again.
If that doesn't work do the following:
- Launch the instalation again.
- It will as to remove the previous version, hit yes
- When you get asked for the media to install hit cancel
If it still doesn't work remove the folder \ProgramFiles\ThrottleLock\... You will still get the item in the uninstalation list, but it will not take any memory/storage space. You can use memmaid to remove the application for the uninstalation list.
If you want to get back the default WM6.5 lock you will have to set the following entry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\keybd\DeviceLockWhe nSuspend = 1
Hope this helps.

I installed to internal memory.
Disabled autolock and lock on startup, rebooted, and still cannot uninstall.
The phone now hangs, (wait animation runs but i cannot do anything).
so I hit the resetbutton. When I run the installer again it just throws the message "Installation of throttlelock0.8.cab was unsuccessful" before the installer starts.
So something fishy here.. I tried reinstalling earlier , I was then asked "do you want to remove the installed app first" , I answered "yes" and then an error came "cannot unsinstall application".
So I'll go for the registry removal.
Thanks for the quick support and giving the registry paths.

1. No I haven't tried the 3d effect on .8, the haptic is on by default, so I will try turning that off and let you know.
2. Yes I have soft reset after the install and several times since, however, I still have the double unlock.

Sorry to hear that :(. BTW, I've been researching about the issue and I've been able to reproduce it on my WM6.5.3 Herald... I've been doing some tries and this worked for me:
- Download the attached zip file and extract the SetupDll.dll file included.
- Open in ActiveSync your device on the path "\Windows\AppMgr\Alfonso Presa ThrottleLock".
- There should be a dll there with a name like "STPXXX.dll". Rename you SetupDLL.dll file to be named exactly as the other one and then override the one in your device with it.
- Try to uninstall.
Let me know if it works for you.
Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi,
first of all: great app, tried the .7 version earlier this year. I like the "unlock by pattern" idea very much and now that I've seen you are still supporting this software here's an idea/request from a CHT user's point of view:
could you provide a version that is only doing the "unlock by pattern" in fullscreen w/o the clock, top bar and all the previews (of text msg, calls etc.)?
For me, I'm using CHT's lockscreen because of its capabilities to be customized with all its widgets. But I'm still missing an "eye-candy" way to have my cell protected after unlocking. So a kind of double unlock feature is desired, first CHT lockscreen (which is using the WinMo 6.5 lock mechanism) and then your special and clean "unlock by pattern"-only version.
Or mybe there's a way to merge your two great software apps because CHT is still missing a convenient way of protecting a cell imho.
Just a thougt you might want to think over...

what you wrote on first post was catching, "if you didn't install it, tell me why", that was a very appreciated example of opennes :)
I've noticed throttle lock before, and I liked very much the g-sensor support for eyetracking effect.
I also like the fact that it implements a "analog password" which is even unintuitiv to strangers, so that's a pro.
Yet it lacks two things that S2U2 has and that I have grown to absolutely need:
1) Proximity sensor screen off function, since the phone can always get turned oin by accident in he pockets and the lit display consumes power
2) data displayed on the screen. I know that the main feature of the program is to provide a safe way of unlocking, and thus it needs the whole screen to do that, but maybe there could be a way to leave space to display upcoming appointments/tasks, missed calls and whatever the user may be needed to check even without having to unlock

Though I'm thinking of a cleaner way to show them for a further version.
About the proximity sensor (I guess you mean the light sensor), I will think of it :).

Hi!
Thank you for your comments. You will like to know that in next version you will be able to see your home screen even when the device is locked by Tlock. By pressing any button TLock will jump to the front allowing you to unlock. About a cleaner Locking... I think it's possible by tweaking the Skin... almost all of the elements are optional ;). Just by removing the adecuate png files and changing some heights in the skin.xml file you can get rid of anything different than the dots.

great news that you're still working on this one besides tlauncher :)
tlock was for me the most important app for diamond in first place because of sense 2.1.
switching to hd2 with sense 2.5 i felt the unlocking design of manila more comfortable...but on the other hand you don't have any security by just pushing an unlockbutton to the side :P
a combination of those two ideas would be just perfect! integration into manila and security patterns of tlock :) but this would probably mean that you're forced to completely redisign this masterpeace of software ... and i'm not quite sure if you actually wanna do this.
can't wait to see future releases of it ... let me know if you need a tester :)

I like this idea, and I have been waiting for something since i dont have the skills to program. I just switched from my Touch Pro 2 to the Tmous Leo 1024 sense 2.5 manila 2012 and i"m using the lastest Cookies HT 1.8.
I definitely like the idea for security to keep noisy people out of my phone, from reading my tmobile company emails or text messages, or even going thru my pictures. trust me theres stuff you don't want to show off, its private. i've noticed that wm 6.5 has very little security to prevent others from just picking up your phone and helping themselves to your phonebook.
well i read something about integrating your software into Cookies HT. I mean I think the best way to do this is to allow the user to slide the bar at the lock screen, either the mini hd by sliding downwards or the orginal one to the side. * enable this feature to show your Swipe unlock style screen to appear.
[ the problem with swipe pattern is that someone doesn't have to look directly at you do this, just copying the pattern will allow anyone access, plus without any knowledge how difficult is it to guess the swipe pattern. I think if you enabled a multi tap pattern without numbers just circles you'd please alot of people. just create a options to engage one style over the other, and how the user wants the interface, behind unlock slide or placed as the actual lock screen.
just some ideas. thank you

I, personally, find v0.8 to be less responsive than v0.7.1. As result, I was forced to downgrade. Also, in my uninstalls, one'd taken forever, but succeeded, and another installation just absolutely WOULD NOT uninstall. Hopefully, your next ver (possibly a jump to v1.0, who knows?) will be ... Well that's when the fun starts, cannot uninstall the program, it locks during the removal process and I cannot remove the entry from the app remove list.

Thanks for your comments :). I will thing about the multitouch thing.. though TLock it's supposed to work in any device ;), and only the HD2 AFAIK has multitouch support.
About the Cookies HT integration, I don't think that can be done cleanly. Cookies HT takes control of the full device when locked so there's not any integration posibility :(. What I'm going to try is to make the home screen visible while the device is locked.

Hi Alfonso.
I installed it and it was very prommising at the beegining but I found it hard to enter a key path easily in nomal daily use conditions. It isn't smooth at all even if it is a simple line because it doesn't respond as fast as it is required to read my finger movement. I had to get back to S2U2 which I don't really like but it is quite smooth.

I think I read somewhere on the forum that a nitrogen plugin was possible to do. Are there any plans to create one? Because the only reason I still use s2u2 is because of its integration with s2p. I would love to use throttle lock instead.

Saludos.
Hi Jaime!
thanks for the feedback :). Please try the new 0.9 version. It works a lot faster in old and in new devices.

Hi!
I think you've missunderstood that plugin thing ;). It was for ThrottleLauncher not for ThrottleLock... Though it might be possible in the future to control S2P and nitrogen forn TLock ;).

Is there any way of stopping the home button on the Leo bringing up the Manila home screen despite the lock screen being activated? It effectively renders this application useless which is a shame.

Actually, come to think of it, the same thing happens with Pocketshield so maybe it is a rom thing.

Sorry... I didn't saw your signature :o... My appologies.
ThrottleLock uses a method to lock the hardware buttons based on a Windows Mobile private API... I don't know if they may have changed something on WM 6.5.5 causing that method not to work :(. I don't know any other way to do it... so may be PocketShield is using the same method and that's why it doesn't work.
For me, using the stock WM 6.5 rom is working perfectly... I'll do some researchs ;).

Please DO ME A FAVOR... help me make this app better!. Tell me:
- If you have not installed the app: why?
I tried different lock screen applications including throttle lock and s2u2 and I turned back to the standard lock screen every time. The reason is simple : although at first everything is very smooth, after a few days the apps managed to frustrate me. :( Either the alarm (Klaxon, G-Alarm) did not fire up one morning, or it was impossible to stop the alarm sound (because the lock screen somehow decided to ignore my touches:mad:).
I have not tried the recent versions, maybe these issues are gone forever now. I will try when I have my phone back from repair. :(

The lockscreen turns into my home screen in a few seconds, that works great. When clicking unlock the lockscreen appears and it can be unlocked correctly, ok too. Only thing is that i have to draw my pattern slowly, otherwise it does not take.
When home screen is showing and i click the windows logo, on the bottom left, the start menu comes up and the phone locks up, have to reset. Also when home screen is showing and i click on the green talk button, the lower taskbar of my home screen shows up and goes not away anymore, so i cannot unlock anymore, soft reset again.
When lock screen is showing and i click on the windows logo or the green talk button, an error message comes up (see enclosure) and the phone locks up again, soft reset to get out.

ThrottleLock v0.9's introduced some really bitchin' features. However, although more responsive than v0.8, it does not reach the responsiveness (or speed or sensitivity) of v0.7.1, which I still find myself reverting back to. I don't know what magic you'd sprinkled into that version, but v0.9.1 (or, whatever the next iteration is) could really use a schtikel of it. Please, please, PLEASE let that version be the one.

@everyone:
Here you have a little patch to get it working better on 6.5.5 ROMs (hopefully).
It will:
- Look the start button when locked to desktop
- Ensure that TLock is the active application if the device is locked.
- Solve the exception error reported by claus1953
To install:
- Open "Config ThrottleLock" and hit save. (this will make ThrottleLock close)
- Copy the ThrottleLock.exe file to your device overriding the file at \Program Files\ThrottleLock\ThrottleLock.exe.
Let me know if it works better :).
Thanks!

Weird :(. 0.7.1 was using a very "dirty" method to update the screen. Is might be faster sometimes but it was definatelly worse responsive and buggy... I'll have another look at the code to see if I can improve the speed.... Wich device are you using? (Sorry if you already answer thsi question...)

the new version works great on my hd2 with artemis rom v18 :)
i'd like to make some feature requests if you don't mind.
1. the possibility of removing the clock for minimalistic people as i am :)
2. possibility to choose between the tlock and wm taskbar.
3. the default taskbar icons of tlock seem to be kinda low resolution.
4. and for me the most important: maybe just patterns with a transparent background so you're able to see desktop/sense all the time ... kind of integrating tlock into manila sense like co0kiemonster does with his variations of lockscreens: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625483

CDMA Rhodium. Sorry, I'd neglected to mention that. But, yeah, on my device, v0.7.1 flies. Btw, I'm talking about the actual lockscreen, specifically. "Invalid pattern. Please try again" could allow me to "try again" quicker, though. 'Always, felt that message was displayed a li'l too long. But, other than, I can swipe my somewhat complicated 4 X 5 grid pattern pretty quick and with little pressure.

Thank you for your comments. The number 1 is already included in this FP2 (attached). Just overwritte the skin.xml file at \Program Files\ThrottleLock\Skins\Default\ with the one attached.
For number 2 you mean changing between the default method and ThrottleLock? I will try to include it on further versions ;).
You're right about number 3... they actually upscaled versions... I will look for some better icons...
And number 4. I'm sorry :( but it's not possible... ThrottleLock works in a different window and WM doesn't allow window transparency.... The peek desktop feature is the further I can go :(.

Hi!
I've tested it on my herald (very very old device, 850 OMAP 201 Mhz and 64MB of RAM) and it uses arround 1.5 MB (but it depends on the amount of graphics displayed). About the CPU it ofocurse uses some when you're using the app, but when it's on the background it uses 0.00% ;).

If it's a VGA device it definatelly not an old device... let's call it, a little bit outdated :P. My herald is a 4 years old qVGA device... THAT'S an old device :P.
Well it may take a little bit more memory if it's VGA, though, it will never reach the 2.5 MB that it uses on my wVGA HD2.
It will work in Windows mobile 5.0 / 6.0 / 6.1 and / 6.5 without any problems ;).

thanks, is there a way to remove the tlock taskbar too? :) (ok, figured it out by myself) but an option for it would be nice for lazy people like me :D
if you're changing the wallpapers quite often, it would be lovely if tlock would memorize the path of the folder where the wallpapers are stored in. it's a pain to navigate to that folder each time you want to change the wp.
installed your skin (without clock) and fp2 and each time i'm accessing tlock config, the bottom bar is showing save and exit on the pattern window. i was able to exit config before entering the pattern.
edit: was checking the time it takes until the screen turns off when desktop/sense is showing. it takes 30 seconds until the screen is dimmed and another 30 until the screen turns completely off. maybe you could include some options in tlock config to set those values by yourself? :)

For the bottom bar when entering the config.... I noticed that too on my Herald, but I take it as a minor bug as it still doesn't let you access the config settings ;).
The dimmed time and the off time are controlled by the OS, not by TLock... I think you can change those settings in the Power options of your device (at least it's there in my HD2)..

edit: tried fp4 now. phonebutton lock is gone now, thanks! :) entering config without security code entry worked on the first time after installing tlock. opening config a second time it popped up as before beeing accessible without entering the security code :(
lock automatically, lock on startup, shwo desktop while locked, exit on hibernate are the only active options here. and i changed the background image. that's all... maybe there's a bug hidden in those options?
Aaah! I think I know what it's happening :). I think you have not closed the settings application, it's running in the background... That's probably why when you "start it up" again it just pop's up. Please try hitting the exit button and launching the settings again :).
hmm how does it work on i900 when there is no accelerated graphics??
I works great! :). ThrottleLock doesn't use Hardware acceleration ;)... So it's even slower in (w)VGA and wVGa devices than in (w)qVGA ;).
i'm using CHT 1.8.5 and i can't disable the default lock screen so both is coming up right now.
i did a quick search through this forum and i can't find a solution. (maybe i such as searching)
but can anyone help me? thanks!
Please try the regedit by kain144000 and let me know if it works :).
I'd recommend trying the following reg edit...
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight]
"AutoDeviceLockEnable"=dword:00000000
And, @APBilbo, I don't know what it is, but you're startin' to lose it again. v0.9_fp2&3'd felt more responsive and required less pressure, and seemed to keep up with my swipe better. Anyway, still leaps & bounds ahead of v0.8 & v0.9.
Thank you for the reg. I'll check it and may be include it in further versions by default or like a checkbox in the config.
About the responsivenes... you mean that FP2 or greatter is getting a lot better, right? I've got a little bit confused about the "lose" thing (didn't get if it's positive or negative :P ).
I had FP2, but I will try FP3 tomorrow. Not bad, but the 3D effect could be done a bit better... I think that the biggest problem is the background not giving you the full 3D feeling... but it is very good... this has been getting better and better as years went by :)
Sorry about the title of the article. I ended up posting it as ThrottleLauncher instead of ThrottleLock... Luckily someone caught it and let me know almost at the time it got posted
Nothing to sorry about... I make that same mistake everytime :D.
About the 3D thing.. I will think in a way to improve it for further versions :).
Thanks!

Your application is really cool, really better than the 0.8, more smooth and clean! Nice one, Thanks!
Bug i repport you a small bug... (On my HD2 my own rom)
I set see desktop after 10s.... The first time i launch Throttle, the lockscreen pattern appears->10s after, my desktop appears! -->No bugs!
If i launch again Throttle, i don't see the pattern... It shows me dirrectly my desktop...
Maybe be it's just a settings... ??
Have a nice day!
Thanks for the report! :)
You're right... There's a little inconsistence there... When TLock startsup it covers the screen, but when it's already start, but in the background, it goes to the desktop lock... Wich of both actions do you feel more conftable with?

... you mean that FP2 or [greater] is getting a lot better, right? I've got a little bit confused about the "lose" thing (didn't get if it's positive or negative :P ).
Unfortunately, I'd meant in a negative connotation. I was saying v0.9_fp2 & fp3 were more responsive than fp_4. Also, I hope you do understand what I mean by responsive. The actual lockscreen coming up isn't the issue, but how quickly it responds to user contact. So, by this I mean, the pressure necessary, how fast ThrotteLock draws the touches, and how quickly it takes the input, as I swipe my pattern pretty fast, which v0.7.1 had no problem picking up. Also, I've noticed that when the device wakes up suspend for an incoming call, ThrottleLock (which I've set to Do nothing) does not allow me to mute the ringer with volume keys nor with Mute Ring on the HTC incoming call screen. Also, the screen fluctuates between ThrottleLock and the incoming call dialog whenever I press the on-screen Mute Ring button. Lastly, although Show slide to answer is disabled, ThrottleLock is still trying to display the incoming caller. I'd recommend removing all call related features when Show slide to answer is disabled to avoid conflicts with the user's actual incoming call dialog, which should just be brought to the top, with TLock just under it. And, if I do answer the call, perhaps you should implement a TLock screen that has call options that still allow NO access to the phone, such as Speaker, Mute, and perhaps even a Volume slider so that you can adjust volume on-screen, or at least see where your volume is if using volume buttons. These options added coupled with the Tlock screen sensitivity issue would DEFINITELY make ThrottleLock very for primetime... v1.0, perhaps. :)

Hey,

The time shown in the appointment is formatter acording to the regional settings of your device ;). If you change the regional settings to display 12 hour format and softreset TLock will display it that way :).

For the call related function, you can disable the "Override notifications" option and even set the action when a call comesin to "Unlock" so you get clear path to answer ;). Don't forget, the on-screen Mute Call button in the HTC incoming call dialog doesn't work either. And, I actually have all of the "Advanced Options" disabled. More importantly regarding the phone is the screen fluctuation, ThrottleLock trying to come to the front. Again, with no phone options enabled, ThrottleLock should just allow only the incoming call dialog to go to front (can't think of the word for it, I know it's not maximize, but you know what I mean :)). Lastly, setting the "When call..." option to unlock leaves the device unlocked once the call's completed. Perhaps, you could make the (or [I]an) option where the device is unlocked for an incoming call, but upon any attempt to change the screen from "Phone" (or cprog.exe), ThrottleLock should be activated. This way, you could use all of Phone's functions, but anything else (opening "Contacts", minimizing "Phone" to access the device, etc.) would not be possible without first unlocking the device. C'mon, I can't leave my device unprotected ... I'm a super secret agent SUPERHERO. ::shhh:: :D

First, I wanted to say that this is a very well done program! I have a small list of things that don't work for me with ThrottleLock:
- The Alarm doesn't work properly. This is a real big one for me since I use my phone alarm as my alarm clock. It seems to start going off but then stops. I have to unlock my phone and see a notification that the alarm went off.
- The wallpaper option seems to stretch and distort the wallpapers when enabled (yes I'm using the 3D).
- The wallpaper option only seems to support JPEG images, while most of mine are PNG. It would be nice if it could support other formats besides just JPEG.
I'm running a stock t-mobile us rom and it all seems to run well on the HD2. Sometimes it takes a couple seconds from switching the screen on before the lock screen comes up. I like that you are keeping it simple and not adding too many functions and features that end up slowing down and ruining a good application. I did notice (not sure if its just because of the bad touch response of the current rom) that unlocking the screen can be difficult as it doesn't always recognize my finger movements. The vibration when hitting the points is hit or miss too. Sometimes it will give a small vibrate, other times nothing, and sometimes, a giant vibrate even in the middle of the combination.
Anyway, good application!

You can stop the default windows lock with a registry hack.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Backlight]
"AutoDeviceLockEnable"=dword:00000001
Change the dword to 0
After changing make a soft reset.

When I select Autolock, and set it to 1 minute, it doesn't autolock at all. But, if I lock using S2U2 or HTC Lock, it will autolock, meaning I have to unlock TL and then S2 or HTC's.
Does anyone know why it wont autolock unless the phones already locked?

Thank you very much for the detailed feedback :). Much apreaciated.
About the issues:
1. You're right. As reported above it will be solved in 0.9.1.
2. TLock actually makes the background fit in the best way it can inside the bounds of the are behind the dots. This is usefull as it let's the background show both in LS and PT mode and it allows you to select any photo sizes... Do you feel some kind of quality lose or similar?
3. Added PNG files for 0.9.1 :).
For the haptic feedback I've also added for 0.9.1 an option to select how long the vibration takes. Though, note that the time is thread based (in order to keep the UI and the phone smooth) so it will not always take the exact same time.

Thank you for the help! :).
kepping my fingers crossed that there will be an update this weekend .. can't live without tlock anymore :D
Hehehe... Working on it right now. Hopefully you will not have to wait for the weekend :).
I posted this issue at ThrottleLauncher site, and was wondering if you guys could help as well.
I am using ThrottleLauncher 1.1.10, Throttlelock .9, and have an HTC Imagio with WVGA and running WM6.5
Sorry for the lack of answers this days... I'm a little bit overruned :-S, bad days at work :(...
The autolock timeout feature doesn't actually lock your phone when you don't use it for a time. What it does is waitting for that amount of time before locking your device after it went's to sleep mode. This is usefull in case you use to turn your phone on and off very often when working with it. That way TLock will only lock it if it takes you more than X minutes to turn it back on after sleep mode ;).
Thanks!

0.9.1 Version is now ... let me know how it works for you.
Sensitivity is spot-on again, so'm sold. Haven't tested the Incoming Call dialog yet, so'll have to keep you posted. I've gotta say, though - not to sound like some kinda APBilbo fanboy, or anything, but ThrottleLock is the BEST locking solution across the board (WM, android, iOS, etc.), hands down!
UPDATE:Okay, so apparently, not as "spot-on" as I'd believed. Seemed it when I'd first changed to my 4 x 5 pattern after install, but now ... not so much. Also, tested the Incoming call dialog and, well ... ::tsk, tsk, tsk:: 'Makes me wish I was a programmer and not an CG artist (well, in training, anyway), so that could I help in a way other than complaining about what doesn't work. LOL As far as the incoming call dialog goes, it's buggy as H3LL! ThrottleLock keeps trying to take over and show it's dialog whenever I tap "Mute Ring" (on HTC dialer skin), which for some odd reason shows the caller info twice. Once at the regular size, and again in the upper left corner at maybe 1/4 the size. Still can't mute the ringer with volume keys or HTC dialer skin's "Mute Ring". ::sigh:: I know you'll fig it all out soon. Just, uh ... just use the force. ::shrugs:: :) Again, I really suggest removing all "Phone"-related features when "Show slide to answer" is disabled. Godspeed, APBilbo. Godspeed!

did a fresh install of rom and tlock 0.9.1
i'm still able to access tlock config without entering the security code.
i see the dots in the background but the config itself pops up in front of it.
edit: same goes for the selection of connectiontypes when connecting to pc. might be a security hole when you're able to access the internal storage card without entering the patterns for unlocking :)
I see you've added your own bottom bar. found just a little bug there. press the start button and let the device lock itself (or use tlock to lock it while start menu is still open). when unlocking the original wm bottom bar is completely gone (you're stil lable to press the start hardware button to get it back)... as i said, just a small bug :D
here are two screenshots.
the first one shows the start menu bug.
the 2nd one the config bug (i removed the top bar so you're able to see that tlock is still active in the background)

I have the same problem as jmsnyc, i can slide the slider to answer but noting happens.
Next to that i also found that it takes throttleLock about 4 seconds until it locks the phone and hides the default windows incoming call dialog.
other than that the app looks great.
I am wondering if this would help.... I have not had time to test as I had to wipe my phone due to other issues....

The only issue I had w/ .9 was the alarm only sounding half a second, but now with .91 all is well. This may be too much to ask, but is there any way you could add a lock status in the registry as I'd like to use flashlight program in conjunction with your lock program where upon unlock the flashlight program is shutdown too by monitoring the registry. Or can you let me know if ThrottleLock has a Windows Class name when active that I can reference? Thanks again for the awesome app!!!!!!!

You can stop the default windows lock with a registry hack.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Backlight]
"AutoDeviceLockEnable"=dword:00000001
Change the dword to 0
After changing make a soft reset.
I just noticed the reg fixes are in the changelog for 9.1 Thanks. My registry entries were 0 before I installed it?
Ok - just test 9.1
Issue still persists with s2a - I cannot answer my phone while using Throttlelock while keeping it locked on answer. Slide to ignore side I think works - answer slide does not.
If I enter my code I can then use default HTC slide to answer but by then it is usually too late as the call has already gone to voicemail - I dont think that is how it is suppose to work because then what would be the point of displaying the S2A?
Update 1: Another locking culprit
In my start up folder there was CHTLockscreen.ink. Deleted that and a softy anr it worked perfict. No lock on screen off.
Update 2:: I can answer with the hard key.
(right now when I hit the hardware end key the default s2a lock is triggered)

I'm sure it's been mentioned but with 114 pages I don't feel like looking for it
But why is the quality of a custom background so bad? I havea very simple background with only two colours in and it's still terrible quality but looks perfect when using default lock screen.
What can I do to improve the quality?

Great job on the update! We asked and you delivered!
You asked if the background image was distorted, I haven't checked in the update 0.9.1, but in 0.9, when 3D is enabled, it seemed to stretch the image too much (I understand that it must be stretched some to enable the 3D effect). It looked like trying to view a 100x100 image on the HD2, just really blocky.
In normal 2D mode of version 0.9.1, it looks fine.
I found two problems, or rather issues:
1. The alarm is hidden by the unlock screen. So to disable the alarm, you gotta unlock and then tap the notification bar and select the alarm. It would be nice if either the phone unlocked for the alarm, or the ThrottleLock to allow the alarm to come to the foreground while locked.
2. The phone functions very well when receiving phone calls while locked. I have it set to use the HTC/Windows phone menu, rather than your built in one. My problem is that when I start talking on the phone (holding it up to my ear), the screen shuts off like it should. When the screen turns back on when I take it away from my ear, it is now locked and I cannot use the phone menu. This is really annoying when I have to enter any numbers after I have started a call. I can still hang up by hitting the red end button on the phone, but it may delay as much as 6-7 seconds. This is kinda annoying too. I would rather just have the phone menu come up and stay up while the call is connected (phone remain unlocked until the call is complete).
Nice job with the program!

Working much better know.
Still not very responsive when haptic feedback is active. Could be better if we just get feedback at the end of pattern trace and not in all the trace way.
It doesn't overrides system notifications.
I would like to have S2A even if I choose unlock when incomming call.
I would like incomming messages being prompt automatocly and not just with gesture.

... Still not very responsive when haptic feedback is active...
I don't even have haptic feedback enabled, and I find the responsiveness to be an issue. @APBilbo, the new bells & whistles're pretty sweet ... but, I've found myself, yet again, bein' happiest w/ v0.7.1, which I've recently just sucked it up and downgraded to. Usu, I'm a "GOTTA have the latest version" kinda 933k, but this time, I gotta choose functionality over that sentiment. I'm tellin' you, APBilbo, there was somethin' you were doin' very right in v0.7.1 that these latest iterations are lacking. I'd advise going back into v0.7.1's code one more time. It's lightning fast (Btw, all off the advanced options disabled).

O.K.
I've decided to stay with ThrottleLock after some days of testing. It is working much better now. It is responsive enough (without haptic feedback) to have it as my regular lock/unlock system besides the new improvements I really like.
-I think it needs to be more responsive.
-It would be better to have incomming messages being promted as soon as they arrive.
-I suggest a small haptic feedback at the end of pattern trace instead of feedback all the trace way.
-S2A should be an option even if "unlock when incomming calls" box is selected.
-It doesn't override system notification some times and never for caller id so I find myself answering phone call with default system notification and not with ThrottleLock S2A notification.
S2A isn't very useable because it takes a lot of time to load and caller id takes even more time so I find my self trying to answer when I still don't know who is calling.
I am runnig ThrottleLock to lock/unlock in combination with S2U2 to S2A. S2A from S2U2 is faster, more responsive and its caller id is almost instantaneous.
Saludos.

For those w/ double lock issues it may be due to another app that might have enabled autolock on you device. I had the double lock issue too, despite having both reg keys set to 0. I later found that my Pointui Home2 OS had a default autolock option to always lock the device using WM's default lockapp upon suspend or turn off. After I disabled option in Home2, no more double locks with ThrottleLock.

Only way I got it to stop locking while on a call unfortunately was to disable the "Lock Automatically" function in the config. Since I don't like auto-locking its no biggie for me.

With the Peek Desktop feature this application has really become a full featured locking app! I still don't understand why people want a different lockscreen when they go through a lot of trouble to get their homescreen just right.
I have a TouchPro with a 6.5.5 rom. I have configured my screen to dim after 1 minute and to suspend after 2 minutes. When ThrottleLock is active the screen still reacts to touch in such a way that if you touch it say every 90 seconds the screen becomes lit again and the phone won't suspend. If the phone is in my pocket I could imagine this being a big battery drain.
Is there a way to tell ThrottleLock to just suspend the phone again if it hasn't gotten any usefull input after 30 seconds or a period like this? Or would this be a feature request?
Another thing. Is it possible to activate ThrottleLock only when I manually put the device to sleep and not when it goes to sleep by itself? I know this was a "feature" in an earlier build of ThrottleLock :D The 'lock x minutes after suspend' option can be used to avoid the situation I'm experiencing (reading a book and the device goes to suspend and locking itself) but I think the option I'm describing would be more battery friendly.
Thanks for the app, I'm still exploring all the possibilities!

I would agree with you completely if (@APBiblo ::hint, hint:: ) the lockscreen would go to/or show only the Home tab (w/HTC Sense), so as not to leak any important intel.

PS What does "Use Info Layer"
I've only just discovered this lovely little bit of software. Have been trying it out, and I really like it.
I'm a little bit confused about what some of the settings actually do - is there any documentation?
1. I tried seaching the thread about "use info layer", but only found jmsnyc's question above. So, what does it do?
Is it related to the lines in texts.txt saying "Missed calls", "Unread Mails" etc? I haven't seen these lines appear anywhere, although the related icons on the top bar are showing ok.
2. Also, I've got a rough idea of what "override notifications" is supposed to do, but would appreciate a proper explanation of that too.
3. I've come across a loophole on my rhodium, where my windows hardkey still functions and allows me to bypass the lock. This happens regardless of the Lock settings.
This is most probably because I've re-mapped this key using the rhodium keboard remapper so that it bring's up SPB Mobile Shell's task manager.
I successfully did a workaround by telling the remapper not to change the key when ThrottleLock is active, but it's interesting that it was allowed to work in the first place.
Anyway, I'll keep trying it out for a bit, and if I decide to keep it, a little donation will be in order!
Cheers!

The skin xml for the newest version is messing up my custom skin for some reason. It worked perfectly on all the other versions but I've noticed there have been many things added into that file that I don't understand. And for some reason it's scaling down everything on my skin. To make my custom skins I start by scaling down everything in the default skin folder to match dimensions for my tilt 2 (touch pro 2) and then writing those down for later use. I do this because throttlelock never really comes with a default skin that is set for WVGA. Does anyone have any workarounds to make custom skins work on a WVGA screen, or an updated skin.xml that works for custom WVGA skins.
Thanks

How can I completely remove the throttle lock notification and call screen?
I've turned off override notifications and stopped it from showing the dekstop, answering the call uses the original answer screen but when I go to end the call it uses the throttle lock end screen and not the default but only when I chose not to show the desktop.

i see there's no way to get the phone locked by just pressing the end button and having the option lock automatically set to 1 minute in case i want to lock it before that time :)
an option for disabling the phone lock on calls (not the incoming ones) you make. i know the phone display gets dark and you need to move your phone to get in on again but the automatical lock on calls is annoying. what happened to those requested features like disabling the top bar and clock by tlockconfig instead of rewriting the skin.xml? :)
is anyone else able to access the tlockconfig without entering the security patterns?

Hi AP,
first of all, thank you for your hard work. I found and tried your ThrottleLock 0.9.1 with the default theme on two devices, Omnia i900 and Omnia II i8000. I do not use S2A.
Omnia 1 works perfectly, but little bit slow, compared to Omnia 2, but if I try to lock the screen manually with the hardware button, the original WM6.1 lock screen comes, and stay at the front, while in the background TL locks too automatically after a minute... If I wait a minute to lock automatically, only the TL locks.
Omnia 2, I use PhoneX call manager instead of default one, and sometimes they like to fight until freeze, for my incoming calls if I set TL to "do nothing". If I set to unlock when incoming call, TL seems to work fine, but the hardare keys are active, so I used to take a photo sometimes when I hold the phone... :)
I also noticed sometimes a double lock on O2 too, but only at OUTGOING call.
I hope I could help to you in the bugfix.

for those who have the doublelock issue the best fix is to rename the devicelock.exe program in the windows folder. Then it can longer be invoked. i have found the need for this with most locking software
I tried throttlelock fr the 1st time this evening, it shows custom wallpaper pretty bad, and im sure the effect is made even worse by the fact i use my maxsense wallpaper (very wide)... and if you add the 3d effect the image certainly aint pretty - though im sure it could be a good theft deterent :D
I will be keen to see how battery consumptio is overnight with this installed, as its the main reason i do not like the default WM6.5 lock

Just found this at the weekend and started playing with it.
Seemed to be fine, however have hit upon a show stopper which I see has been mentioned before, pushing the volume control with the lock in place doesn't change the volume as it does under the normal screen lock.
Are there any plans to offer an additional lock mode 'No buttons' alongside 'All buttons' and ' All but phone buttons'?

Does anyone have an old copy of ThrottleLock around, a version that is compatible with WM2003 (NOT SE)? I tried the oldest one website (3.0c), and that threw me a whole bunch of errors. I've seen the early reviews with a different version that runs on WM2003, and because I can't find one on the interwebs, I came here.

I love this thing, but I have one question. I downloaded a couple of skins, but none of them show the clock. How do I get the clock function to work on different skins?

I don't know if it"s the right place to post my message but I really need held.
I'm coming to you because I have a problem with Throttlelock 0.6 that I intalled earlier on my HTC HD on the main memory.
My problem is that I've forgotten my pattern that locks my phone and I have no access to it even when I connect it on my computer.
I've read few forums where they advice to connect the phone and read the document which content the code to unlock it via Activ Sync but my computer cannot get into the main memory.
So everytime I try to reboot it I'm facing the same problem, to the screen where you have to draw your pattern.
My question is: Is there any way to undo the code, reinitialise, uninstall or whatever solution, the program so I can access my phone again.
And I'd prefer avoiding a hard reset since I don't know if my data had been saved on my computer.
Thank you for your answers.

Is it possible to lock the screen with power button while in call ? Sometimes I bump into taskbar with my ear, which brings up HTC Notification manager, and it's just 2 more bumps until I accidentally turn off phone connection & end the call. Happened to me a few times. S2U2 allows locking while in call, but TL is easier on RAM so I'd rather make it work. Besides, I much prefer sliding from top down vs side to side.
I saw that there were several requests earlier to NOT have it lock while in call. So I assume this was the default action which later got changed. May be make it an option ?
Also, I have a couple of other issues:
- S2A doesn't seem to work, I slide and nothing happens. Disabled it for now.
- when I receive an incoming call, there's a blank black rectangle in the top left corner, next to the caller ID. I assume this was supposed to be caller's picture ? It stays black even when I get calls from contacts that do have pics assigned. Is this skin related ?

First, thanks to APBilbo for this fine app!
Tested the ThrottleLock 0.9.1 Lock/Unlock App (http://www.throttlelauncher.com/portal/Products/ThrottleLock/throttlelock-09) on two HTC TP2/Touch Pro2/Tilt 2 with a physical keyboard & touch screen. One running Energy.RHODIUM.28244.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.Feb.27 and the other Energy.RHODIUM.21916.Sense2.5.Cookie.Mar.08.
It's great to be able to see your home page with all your notifications while locked and the idea of simply entering your own custom finger gliding pattern on the screen to unlock (or using a stylus) instead of entering a PIN is cool & faster. :)
It's using only 1.86MB of RAM memory vs. 2.81MB for S2U2, 5MB for the cooked-in Android style and 6MB for the Windows lockscreen on my spare Tilt 2 running NRG ROM Mar.08 21916.
Contrary to S2U2, the hardware keyboard is disabled on my Tilt 2 when locked. Clicking the FN key for example, the white LED does not turn on. I tried the fast clicking or keys combos that unlocks S2U2 circumventing the required PIN and those tricks do not work w/ ThrottleLock 0.9.1. All physical buttons are disabled except the top power button & that's a good thing.
A phone reset does not bypass the locked state contrary to S2U2.
Security wise, is just good enough to prevent the phone from turning on by itself in your pocket if the top power button gets bumped by accident (a.k.a. anti butt dialer) because you can access all the phone's files including the memory card simply by connecting it to the PC and the Chose a connection type pops up on the phone. Also Activesync starts automatically on the PC if selected on the phone & connects with full access.

This said it seems to fare much better compared to the numerous S2U2's security holes (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11893700#post11893700) when used on HTC TP2/Touch Pro2/Tilt 2/Rhodium. Just keep in mind that the phone is not fully protected with this app.
For me the choice is investing 5MB of memory RAM for the NRG's cooked-in Android style lock screen that's secure vs. 1.86MB for the ThrottleLock anti-kids or anti butt dialer.
I'm still looking for a SECURE lock/unlock application that uses less memory than the two found in the current NRG ROM's for Rhodium.

Hi guys .. I've made a big mistake, while installing this great app I've just didn't know what I did but my htc HD is locked and I couldn't unlock it again .. what to do .. please help
NB! I tried to see the lockcode file (located in the Program Files\Throttlelock folder) which has these numbers 1,2,5,4,7,8,9 and tried this pattern .. but it didn't work.
NB!! there's red "UNLICENSED" word on the right bottom corner .. is that a problem?
Thanks,
Sufian

Hi again,
I couldn't sleep before I get my Blackstone running again.
YES!!! I made it .. I solved the issue of blocking my htc HD .. it was so simple that I couldn't think about at the beginning :) .. but now I'm happy and can go to sleep.
Sorry for bothering guys ! .. goodnight.
ah how did I solve it? ok .. simply connect to PC via activesync (Windows Mobile Device Center, in my case) and do remove program .. simple isn't it .. ;)
regards,
Sufian

You should add functionality in the next version for ThrottleLock to display your information...that way WM doesn't try to display it, and it would be inbuilt into the program.

really cool!
i had no idea i could get a free license from that, just by the way, i have two more i think that you could also upload to your forum if you want
i think there is one in the wm7-style theme
and one i havent uploaded i might upload with transparent bg
thanks a lot!
really appreciate it, its a great app :D
htctoucher
Ofcourse you could... making themes and skins for my apps it the best way of helping me :). Tons more than donating (not that I don't appreciate dontations ofcourse...). I use the licensing system to make ThrottleApps comunity grow. For people don't wanting to help or donate... hey what less that visiting the web once a month to get their license and check for updates....
Thanks for your skins, and thanks for your permision to upload them to my forum ;).
Hola Alfonso and guys,
I just wanted to make a small contribution with the enclosed.
Feel free to upload it to your forum in case you find it interesting...
Btw, great app., thumbs up ;)
Cheers!
