The default password is the top left dot (just click on it). Once you have setted your own pattern (you can do that by tap&hold and then select change pattern) it's stored on a file called lockcode.txt in the app folder.

EDIT: First thoughts:

WOW! This app is amazing, especially for the first beta. Honestly, I'd use this as is with no changes. I think I'm going to skin it later this weekend to see how it looks. Therer were a few things I noticed however.

If you enter the wrong pattern, "again" is spelled "aggain".
The load time took about 5-6 seconds on my touch.

That was really all that I noticed with it. Works very smooth and and I really like the transparent affect on it!

Just a few suggestions:

Please keep it simple like it is, too much extra will just slow it down.

The option to overlap existing lines in the pattern would give some extra security.

Making it full screen with an extra row of dots.

Sorry to sound like a pain, but I really like this development and would like to see this grow a lot.

Again, excellent work, keep it up :D!

- Some icon notifications for missed calls, new sms, new mail.

Understand that this is mostly a locking app to secure your device. Any info given on it will be public, so it will not show anything like next appointment, last called id, etc.... Though you're able to receive calls while the device is locked.

After a soft-reset mine does pop up after its been suspended, but it did need a soft-reset first.

Just a little slow to launch (which i can see you will address) - But this little things great :) Ditched the ole' S2U2 for this, as its sexy :P

You need to soft reset or manually execute the lockdemon.exe file located on the app folder.

* cover the winmobile taskbar on the top which can be touched although
lock is enabled
* add bar at the bottom to display missed calls/SMS/etc.
* option to turn off screen after xx minutes

If so, I doubt you would be able to use the locking function of this project with S2U2.

i think it is better to develop a new application to replace to normal wm notification system .. example when i receive a new missed a transparent screen appear with the new notifications in the middle of the page .. it will be great if it support all kind of notification like new appoint ment or any notifications created by other application .. then u can merge notification application function to new lock application

So I have altered it to have 16 dots instead of 9. Simply change the .xml file to read "4,4" instead of "3,3" on the last line. You just have to make sure you change the code to "1" only, once the area is changed, the alingment is different.

The code is read top to bottom, the left to right by column, starting with the top left as 1.

1st .. i want to say .. it's just a very good app .. i love it!

2nd .. i add my vote for many of the requests the guys asked for .. which are
- a fulll screen/fourth row will be great
- i think it will be great to have diagonal support .. like to go from 3 to 5 etc.. it will make the app much richer
- the program can be terminated using Wk task.. and can be minimized too :P .. i think this needs a solution
- I'm using chronos alarm program.. and having some difficulties with the waking up speed and time!
- keep it simple .. i love it this way
- the starting time is relevantly slow.. if it can be enhanced.. this can be greatly appreciated
- the transparent thing looks cool.. but i think it's the reason why the app starts slowly.. cuz it's not actually a transparent background but rather a screen shot.. i tried using the media player .. and the screen didnt update .. so i second a blank screen or a background pic
- i think sms counter will be great.. also a missed calls count will be appreciated too .. no need though for the last caller id.

That's not very nice, to claim something as yours, when it clearly isn't.

Back:
Change the back.png to your preferred Background image and rename to back as png format. In your case for Diamond you must resize for 490 x 650.
**for the Touch as I have its 320x320**

Dots:
Also to create the dot files in your setup you can resize to 80x80 (Depending on images scale), and naming the untouched dot dot.png, selected dot as dot-sel.png and the incorrect dot as dot-wrong.png.
**for the Touch as I have its 60x60**

Lock:
Again do to your setup you can make the lock image as 60x60 and name lock.png
**for the Touch as I have its 40x40**

When ever you create a dot image make sure its about 100x100 or so.. that way when you decrease size to what's needed.. it won't effect your image, but if you do it backwards it would make your image a bit distorted..

Is there any way to disable this from locking when the screen turns off? I have S2U2 for that. I would just like the security to be able to set this for the UnlockRunEXE on S2U2. Right now it pops up before S2U2 but its easily bypassed

It would be very usefull if it could lock the screen during incoming call and then blank the screen within aprox 5-10 seconds in an active call.
Also the start/load time needs to be improved. But still, nice application!

Other than that, this program is solid and more secure than just a simple slide from left to right.

So far this has been working great, friends couldn't open anything tonight :D! Even works good with 16 dots, 4x4, no problems.

My only problem is the fact you can access the start menu and minimize it.

* add bar at the bottom to display missed calls/SMS/etc.

- Fullscreen (can be disabled throught config.xml mod)

- Tittle bar to display time and missedcalls, sms, mms, mails and voicemail notifications (can also be disabled through config.xml).

- Startup time improvements (still it's not automatic)

- VGA compatibility mode. Will display correctly qVGA themes (like the default one) on VGA devices by using a x2 scaling.

- Answering calls should be possible by using the answer button, or by clicking on answer on the screen on the bottom left when call is taking place.

I don't know if it's intentional but if you press the "red phone button" in non-fullscreen mode, you can then have access to the start menu of WM by pressing the "start menu button". It won't happen in fullscreen mode.

But I got a problem whit the new version.
When the app has been used one time the top bar doesn't close, it lays over the start button and blocks me from using the original top bar.

And sometimes the app starts itself two times, and you need to unlock it twice. But you know this already.

It stays at the same time as when you hit the power button. Is there any way to get the clock to update so you don't need to unlocked the phone just to see what time it is? Thank You, BOO

in the config.xml, You might try setting both of the fullscreen settings to "false" at least until he fixes the problem.

You also might want to try a soft reset after installing the new version. That made the top bar exit correctly on my iPaq 111

Strange, notifications works on my Diamond, keep in mind that the TL doesn't update in real time. I takes the notification status when it starts. So if you get a call when the TL is visible it will not update. (Correct me if I'm wrong here APBilbo) I use vga compatibility true on mine.

Hi folks,

I have updated my Matrix skin for ThrottleLock v0.2.
This one will, again, only work on VGA devices since the background is 480x640.

I have reduced the size of the background from 476k to 170k. Hope this will reduce the loading time as well. Also I changed the 'dots' into 'pills'. Just to make the skin as authentic as possible :)

To make the notifications bigger with VGA I needed to make them bigger as well.

hey as a little feedback, i suggest having TL load when the backlight turns off either by idling or by pressing the power button. that way, when you turn the screen on, it will have already loaded which means you dont have any load time (duh). i believe S2U2 works in this way.

Yes zir..!!! lol (Art is Life).. I've written my input in regards to the updated app (Nicely Done) working well, there's a glitch during a phone call as throttle lock activate's your unable to unlock.. you'd need to soft reset.

I am assuming that you are required (e.g., by syncing with Exchange) to have the standard lock screen enabled. If not, just disable that one.

If you are required to have that one enabled, then just change the timeout for it. I have my default lock setup for 24 hours of inactivity, which will never happen....so the ThrottleLock kicks in everytime!

few issues with 0.2:
-screen doesn't lock when media player is active with headphones (also with previous version).
-screen locks when backlight goes off during a call. Atleast after a couple of minutes while talking, don't know about when call is ended.
-top bar gets replaced sometimes with the app's bar, only reset will work. Like mentioned, this will occur when pattern is changed.

Dude after an evening playing i worked out a few of the bugs i had ok after turning screen on i get my home/today screen then it loads and locks (this needs speeding up) i have to unlock to answer call's, this is fine but its so slow once i turn screen on and have made it to my pocket and wresteled my phone out that i keep missing calls. is there any way we could get this to a slide to unlock standard with fetures such as the weather and patterns to answer calls and stufff like having the home screen updating? im running throttle launcher and the clock in the background wont update could this be because im running the flash one?

Look great APP. I use HTC Diamond but when unlock still the system unlock comes first and after I do as normal the pattern scren is appear then can unlock. So how to make system lock disappear and I only need to act once? Thanks!

Big improvement in 0.2 ;)
All that is needed for ME is that the program loads when screen turns off to speed up loading time and lock the screen during incoming call or like the S2U2, with small icons so I minimize the risk of touching the buttons when reaching for the phone in ie the pocket... =)

Yeah thought so, but I've seen larger files and incomplete files caused the same error before. Still don't understand why the cab file fails to instal on my Diamond though. When i open it I get an instant message that the cab file was unable to install. Could this have something to do with my ROM version? I have a Dutch 1.93 version

This seems to be ok after two soft resets. Maybe this was solved in the new 0.2b as well. But for 0.2 I had to soft reset my device twice. And then the application started to behave :)

Great job on the update! (0.2b) I have the htc touch 6.1 rom. The only issues I was having, was the clock not updating, and covering part of the bottom of the keyboard. Your update took car of both of those. I've been running it since this morning, and it's working flawless. Thanks for developing a great program. P.S. Have a good vacation.

It seems that v.2b is slow to load after returning from suspended mode. I have a suggestion that could be used as a workaround.

It seems that right now, ThrottleLock loads after being "woken up." What if you made it so ThrottleLock loads when being "put to sleep." That way when it's "woken up," it has already loaded.

1-real transparent background, I mean window under throttlelock can be alive not just snapshot, for example I'm using WAD and my first page have all phone inofrmations and status, it's would be good to see it in live
2-diagonal motion
3-configuration tool, for example to edit quickly texts
4-long tap (like 3seconds) in lock picture automaticly open new pattern
5-button to cancel new pattern editing
6-different picture ofr lock status (normal, error, change pattern ..), after we can remove text
7-option to display or not the top bar
8-starts speed improvement or minimize when unlock

APBilbo, I noticed a couple things today. The lock doesn't stick after a soft reset in other words if you don't know the pattern just soft reset and you have access to the phone. Another thing happened after a call with the phone in my pocket it it start tap..tap in my pocket when I pulled it out it was in an endless cycle of invalid pattern. One dot would lite...invalid pattern another would lite...invalid pattern this went on for a couple of minutes I even hit the power button and turned it back on to the same process then I soft reset to get it to stop. A suggestion a small box that pops up that says invalid pattern that you have to X out to try the pattern again. Just a suggestion and Thanks again APBilbo, BOO

love the idea for he program but defenetly needs some work for me. i eventually have to uninstall if because it ran to slow for me :(

just a couple things i think would be awsome if you could add....

first of all obviously i think it lacks on preformance performance (maybe run it in the background instead of having to boot it every time)

option to over trace dots you have already traced and diagonal traces

Very cool app. I like how it is transparent over S2U2, so once you unlock with ThrottleLock, you are at S2U2. Only problems: cant answer call with S2U2 screen, and it locks during phone calls. So I have to unlock to hang up or check call status.

I saw that too using Firefox 3. Comes up as an "Attack Site", which it explains "steals personal info". If there is some malicious software on that site, I am sure it is a mistake...or it was hacked.

There are some things I want to be corrected.
When the phone rings sometimes ThrottleLock is still active and locked the screen and I can't see who's calling, only showing the ThrottleLock screen :/
Also during a call ThrottleLock locks the screen, need only to turn off the screen instead of locking.

Mine does the same. i uninstalled the app because of this a went back to S2U2. I will wait for all the bugs to be worked out on this program before I put it back on.

I'm having a problem with this software...im using Quickmenu and i can bypass throttlelock by disabling it from the password screen thru the start menu. I can get to the start menu with the lock in place. Once im that far i just "x" out of it with Quickmenu. So my phone isnt really locked at all....

It's the built in protection firefox uses. It scans everyw ebsite through a list of "banned" websites, and checks. The list is constantly updated by lots of different sources.

I was having this problem but figured it out, what is happening is that some how (I usually do it when i'm talking on the phone) you are "pressing and holding" one of the nodes and selecting "change pattern"

Next time you have this problem, hold down the first node and select "cancel" then enter your pattern. It should work fine.

I LOVE this lock. s2u2 was always a bit buggy for me.

Thank you for this great little app, no problems with Hermes. I have two power off buttons now: one is set up with Solid Orb for power on and off (for regular use or just showing off) and one with standard on/off (this one shows throttle lock, whereas the solid orb one won't). I have deleted S2U2 and my battery drain issues have gone with it (a nice bonus).

Incidentally ,elsewhere on this thread, is that the first time God and Scarface has been in the same post???! Perhaps a John the Baptist/Terminator theme could work !

I agree withis. After finishing the call when the phone comes back from standby, I have to again unlock the device. And the delays at this time is very annoying.
Other wise the utility is really a gem..

Tried that but it didnt do to good and it didn't clash.. (j/k) wanted to do "The Good & Bad" themes, I think the idea came across and others can develop a "Broader" horizon.. I will create more "The Good & Bad" Themes.. :)

Love this app APBilbo!...but had to remove for now.

Had an incoming call....I just missed it, but still tried to answer. Then I powered off. On next power on, my screen was totally blank. It was on but I could not see anything...I could even connect to my PC via Activesync.

I was able to actually still do my pattern just by guessing at the starting position and it came back to life...but that scared the crap out of me :eek: :D

I will certainly try new versions when the come out to see how they work.

It starts with unlocking S2U2 and it needs about 4-5 seconds to open. Not a big problem so far, but it would look much cooler when it would appear just the moment I unlock my phone?!

Or is there another way? For example it runs when locking the phone, but stays in the background of S2U2?
