I believe that this is just for you're viewing. You assign an actual signature under options, signature, SMS/MMS.

maybe u need to perform a hard reset
if (me) was registred in the threaded sms/mms it wont change by default when adding the name to my contacts
mybe after a hard reset it will work - cuz ur name will get in the threads immediatly and not to be replaced by (me)
is that make sense??

no... doesnt make to sense... if i make a hard reset... then how he gonna guess my name ? ...
i think that "Me" its the default name that Windows Mobile has to identificate you on SMS ...
look pic below... i am the "Me" ... is that i want to change... to appear my name instead of that "Me"

understand ? ...
so ... what the point of hard reset ? ... system cant guess your name in hard reset... i think you have to set it in registry... because i cant find any option to it....

unless you share your phone, doesn't "Me" describe you perfectly? :)

i cant beleive there is actually a thread discussing this, lol
The "me" in the sms view is just so you know which bits of the conversation are you. No one else sees this, it is not like your name in outlook which makes it appear on other peoples systems like that.
In which case, why does it matter ?

I dont think its changeable like everyone else says its just to show which txts are from you in the conversation.

yes.. its not a big deal .. just wanted to personalize that .. to put my name .. or to translate to my native language :)
but of course .. its not a big problem... but .. you personalize everything... why dont personalize that to ?
