No keyboard is a big con for me as is the non-expandable slot.

IMO the worst downside is the Windows Mobile itself (it still needs couple of versions of work before it is fun-to-use).

Pros are that it actually is a beautiful pda with lots of power.

Aaaaa you guyzz suck!
Im starting with the Goooodssss:

-Looks like a little black Diamond. IMO best looking phone out there by FaaarrrRRR.
-WM +TF3D+Cooked ROM+Tweaks=Easily the coolest Phone UI around. You can do EVERYTHING, customize every little detail. I think of it as a custom tailor made suit:D.
-VGA Screen IS awesome!
-Last but not least. Its not a fruittyyphone. I'm sure you will be the ONLY guy in the room with a Jewwelll.

I could go on but have tooo work!

Hi guys, a friend of mine plans to buy a diamond, just want to know how good or how bad is it? is it a good buy or what? :D

thanks!

This is just my opinion:

Pros:

* The size of the device, it really is a great looking device,
* Beautiful VGA Screen (not seen anything like it on any other device!)
* It does everything! (GPS, MP3, Internet, Has Wifi etc...)
* The cameras great (outdoors! and in good light! hehe!)
* XDA Developers - There really is everything you could want on here to make the phone do what you want
* Great for tweaking! For Free! (donations to the relevant creators are obviously accepted)
* 4GB Storage built in (more than enough for what I use it for, TomTom, Plenty of music, a few games, a film and just general program storage)
* Latest Rom version is pretty speedy which makes navigating around the Diamond alot smoother. (this can be improved with alot of the Cooked roms on here, I havent used any of them yet as i can never be bothered with restoring all my data everytime BUT if you like tweaking, this is the phone to have!)

Cons:

* I should of waited a while until it had been out a bit longer, could of started a new contract and got myself a PS3 for free!!!!! (hehe, not really a con but hey, could of done with the extra money! hehe!) ;)
* Windows Mobile is behind the nice TouchFLO 3D front end, this will appeal to some but not others (i happen to like it)
* Device can get hot (this is happening to some peoples devices and not others. Think if you friend purchased one now the problems sorted. Prob just on a few of the first batch of the phone - My device seems fine)
* No removable storage - No MicroSD Card slot (again this is a bad point for some people, and not others)

This, is just my opinion and please dont flame me for it.

Conclusion:

I love my Diamond, i have used many phones and devices over the years and this one ticks all the boxes FOR WHAT I WANT TO USE IT FOR. Its small, compact, has an excellent screen (which can even been seen in sunlight!) and its perfect for me. Thanks to this site which has made the phone even better!

I would suggest you find out what you friend is wanting the phone for, that to me often determinds what phone I go for.

Hope this helps!

:)

A good buy compared to what? If your friend considers a $1000 glorified telephone only consisting of bling (like any given top range so-called MP3/camera phone) then yes, its a good buy.

Why my HTC Diamond was a good buy: There was this store which had the SE G900 at a decent price compared to everyone else. I never even considered the Diamond, dismissed it long ago due to its pricetag. I wanted a new phone that could handle much more than my old K600i, more of a PDA for work and fun. Looking more into their inventory, I saw that the Diamond was the *exact* same price for the same contract. It didnt take many hours to compare each phone and come to a decision, lol.

Yes, it's a good buy if you're looking for a powerful, all-capable Pocket PC without keyboard and expandable memory. Yes, it's a good buy if you're looking for a well-designed, slim and customizable mobile phone. Yes, it's a good buy if you're looking for a finger-controllable ánd stylus-controllable device. Yes, it plays MP3, video and games pretty well.

If you prefer a keyboard or expandable memory, the Diamond Pro is a good choice. The downsides of that one is that it's relatively 'thick'.

This post pretty much sums up how I feel about my Diamond. More Pro's than Con's.

IMHO, a great little phone, and with the aid of some ROMS from here, does everything I need at a speed I find acceptable. :)
