GAHH!! That's it :( I'm SICK of not being able to send and receive texts from my office since I got my Diamond!

Is there ANY way to update the Radio without re-flashing to a hacked ROM?

I really don't wanna have to re-do all my settings and install my apps again :(

I don't think so. If there was, we'd all be using it, don't you think?

?? what do you mean where do you live?

I have no problems at all sending and receiving things with original rom and the radio came with this 1.93 version.

Which connection is not good enough for you?

Grtzzzz

I don't have the 1.93 ROM, my Orange branded beast came with .37 tosh.

Ah well. Looks like its time to take the plunge...

1) do full backup of your diamond using for example SPB Backup.
2) do whatever you need to update radio firmware
3) flash back hacked/cooked ROM you are using now
4) restore backup made in (1)

after that u will exactly the same settings and installed software as before. but with new radio.

Updating RADIO does not alter any settings and does not remove any apps.

Pretty fast? This place is like a rollercoaster on steroids. By now, TouchFLO3D can have custom themes, landscape mode in the Diamond is confirmed and working in Bepe's bElite ROMs and they're working on getting TV-out on the Diamond.

the process itself does not, but the installation of the needed HARDSPL does.
or isn't it necessary?

Trust me mate, just do it, and you'll have no worries.

I have the same orange phone as you on a .37, and I was apprehensive about flashing the Radio. I understood from this forum that it was ok to do this without upsetting the main ROM, but I was still worried I'd need to start again after all the time I'd spent setting up this little thing.

Anyway, I backed it all up on Sprite just in case, and chucked in hardSPL 1.24. I then flashed in radio .05, and I needn't have worried, it went smooth as silk, and my main ROM was untouched. The procedure seems quite invasive as you're doing it, but don't let it put you off. The ROM Update Utility is not totally clear about what it's doing just as you're about to hit the go button, but if you follow the procedure to the letter, it will all go swimmingly.

I'm now on Dutty's .07 radio, and can say it is an improvement on .05, and it's streets ahead of the old one it came with, especially for GPS.

You have nothing to lose...
