I have installed and reinstalled Quake Mobile and Quake SOA bought from Handango but everytime I try and run it I get an error message saying a certificate may not be trusted or a component may be missing. Any ideas? Have received no joy from Support@Handango.com to date.

well i have quake working but its not the "official download" that sucks if you payed for it. im using a shareware pak file so i just have the demo, but it works.

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me how you installed it and what files you have present in the Quake folder I may be missing a file or something. Cheers.

I have the PPCARM2003 versions of both which were on sale as a package on Handango.

If its the certificate error maybe try kaiser tweak? I think it has an option to rid installations of that message.

To be honest with the TyTn II's graphics issues ( lack of drivers etc ) I would be suprised if this would run well on it anyway..

:(

Cheers, sorry for the noob qstn, but where can I get Kaiser Tweak, I had installed Advanced Config Tool in the hopes of perhaps some tweaking as you mentioned but it says I have the wrong version of NET.CF I'm assuming it requires 3.5 which I'm told will kill my other .NET apps that run on 2.0 so I'm kinda going round in circles.

RE: the likely sluggishness of Quake on the Tytn II, I have Tomb Raider running on it seamlessly and had also hoped that with the performance boost I've gotten from Samsung Omnia D3D Driver (SJ SamsungOmnia_Driver_D3D.zip - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416474), that I could hopefully get it running. Maybe even with some quakebots, which I saw on another thread today. That would be worth the $20 I blew at Handango.

Any advice appreciated.

ok the original link that i used is no longer working. however try this

http://handheld.softpedia.com/progDownload/Pocket-Quake-Download-16367.html

make a quake folder on the root directory of your phone. in this directory place Pocketquake.exe and another folder called ID1. in the ID1 folder put autoexe.cfg and pak0.pak. pak0.pak contains all the levels and game info. ull have to use the shareware demo, unless u can find the real one. i have a config file in my folder but that was with the old link. you shouldnt need it. if you want full screen paste this into the autoexe.cfg file

// Start in portrait
vid_mode "1"
viewsize "100.000000"
togglemenu
unbind "alt"

let me know what happens. message me if u need to i can email you exactly what i have if u need me to.

i had to play with the controls in the auto.exe file to get them better so just experiment with it.

quake mobile? or pocket quake?

quake mobile is a OpenGL accelerated pocket pc version of quake. it is only for VGA devices, preferably on ones that use an accelerating chip. It's not the real port to quake 1, but it's pretty damn close. Unfortunately you will not be able to get it to work on your Kaiser, it's not meant for that device.

pocket quake IS the port of quake 1, nothing different about it, it's the real stuff. unfortunately on all these new wm6.1 roms it wont work. so unless your using an older rom, or one of dutty's older wm6.1 roms (which aren't based off of the kaiser wm6.1 released by htc), that is the only way you can get it to work.

im using dutty's wm6.1 hybrid, it works fine on that

Yeah I just realised that..it's Mobile Quake the Open GL version for VGA devices. Bummer, on Handango you log in and have your device registered with them or select it then they provide a list of compatible apps. I clearly selected Tytn II and the first package I get offered to buy is the fricken Mobile Quake Package with Quake SOA thrown in. So aside from that rip off...let's see if I can't get this Pocket Quake working. I have the ROM that the Kaiser came with out of the box which I assume is ancient as it's carrying WM6.0...not too keen on installing to the root of the phone as I'm pretty jammed with apps. Maybe a Duke Nukem port or some other suggestions for a decent fix for my FPS yearnings I could install to SD would do the trick. Any suggestions? Both as to whether I am in dire need of a ROM upgrade and/or ports of any of the popular FPS's that I can get to work on my Kaiser. Cheers fellas.

at one point i had duke nukem on my phone, but you had to tap the screen to fire. im sure some key mapping could fix it but i havent had time yet. let me know if anyone get bots to work with pocket quake. it works with the pc version so theres no reason it cant with the ppc version

Ok thanks for that, I have pocket quake in the phone's root and the pak0.pak (am trying to track down a full version) used your edit on the autoexec.cfg and it's flying. Now is there any way I can play it fullscreen in landscape mode? That would be slick.

My bad nix that request above...I just realised it IS in landscape...ok I'll take a RTFM on that one..

Struggling here as well. It had worked fine on older WM6.1 cuts. Quake will start to load, I will see it load the config files, then the intro screen will pop up momentarily, and then it crashes.

My autoexec.cfg already has the lines above in it. Any ideas?

Well, I narrowed it down to the vid_mode parameter in autoexec.cfg. If it is set to 1 or 2, pocketquake crashes. If it is omitted or set to 3, it starts, but is not in landscape and is about 1/2 screen in size.

Any ideas on what to try from here?

Just a thought but if you have the landscape cleartype tweak on, then try turning it off.

Duke Nukem didn't like this and the screen was garbled till I turned it off.

If there is any mention of GAPI in the config, then also try setting this to 0.

To the poster commenting on Duke3D and having to tap the screen to fire, I have a full keyboard use setup.

I can send you my config file if you want.

IK-

Are you referring to this regkey?

HKLM\System\GDI\ClearTypeSettings\OffOnRotation

It didn't work for me, but thanks for the tip!

It is April 2011... (Yep, still using a Kaiser!) and I had to revert back to Dutty's WM6.1 hybrid (based on a WM 6.0 kernel) to get Quake 2 to work in landscape on my Kaiser. And just like it hasn't already been stated at least 3 times in this thread - I can confirm that if you want it to run in full screen landscape, you need to be on something older than the proper WM6.1.
