Hallo friends, I'm a newbye here.
I've got a little big problem and I'm asking you to help me.

In Italy H3G, my mobile operator, sells one internet flat in UMTS and HSDPA mode. This is because H3G hasn't got GSM antennas and the roaming connection costs 2€/MB (3$).

Can I disable the gprs allowing the 3G and 3,5G only? I'm becoming crazy :eek::eek:

Thanks to you all,

Dario :)

Thanks unwired4 but I need to recieve the GSM calls (they are free of charge).

I need only to block GPRS internet traffic. Any other suggestion?

Dario,

You cant block diff data based on GSM or WCDMA or (2.5G or 3G). I can see at the moment only option is to make it UMTS.

Thats a shame... been looking for a solution to this problem also. Due to the structure of the data packs on my carrier, blocking roaming data and allowing the rest would be the perfect application for many users to avoid excessive usage charges.

I am in support for this project and willing to donate if someone will take up the task :)

Hi all,
I'm another Italian H3G user and got the same issue! :(

I'm ready to donate together with others if anyone will pop out with a working solution for that project!!!

So what you guys are asking for as no-data when only when on GSM.

Since data is automatically part of the standard (as much as asking your hands to feel cold and not heat), it could be "interesting" to try to keep flipping it on off.

Closest behavior would be if you're on 3G voice call and it locks out data only when it flips to GSM.

I am guessing here, but something worth looking at for an example may be like the TF3D Weather. In Settings, it has an option to tick "Download Weather when roaming". As far as I know, if you don't tick this, it won't download when you are roaming, only when your on your home network.

So a similar feature for all data. In other words, don't download when on Roaming. At other times, ok to download.

That's right.

Great, Flux, you've got the exact point here! :D

BTW: I found an application -which does in effects many, many other useful things- but it can explain what we're looking for: phoneAlarm (http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.html)

It seems it can stop data connection depending on many parameters.
For our pourpose, it would be enough if data connection gets disabled when not connected to the home network!

phoneAlarm doesn't go. It doesn't block EDGE (2,5G gprs) traffic. :-(

That's very strange! :(

If you lookk at the phoneAlarm product page (link (http://http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.html)) where the new v2.0 features are described and search for the 7th element in the features list, you can read:

[B] - Data completely disabled per profile (for roaming etc.)

This should mean that, when roaming, no data connection is made available and this is exactly what we need! (not paying for data roaming when H3G has no service and the phone swithes to TIM).

I thoutgh it worked...

(video)chiamate/sms sotto roaming TIM.
