View Full Version : Can someone tell me if it's possible to sync your wm device with vista via BT?

I just got a new computer with Vista installed (enjoying it) but I really would like to sync via BT. I'm not real knowlegable about working with BT. When I get it to sync with my devices, I just leave it alone. I have a kensington USB adaper and it connected to my phone one time and it won't connect again. Even when it was connected I couldn't get it to sync with WMDC. I don't even know where to begin to diagnose my issues. Kensington has no directions at all.

Yes it is possible to sync via bluetooth.Do a search.

Yes, it's actually easier synching with BT than with USB, sometimes.
Just make sure that your BT on Vista supports ActiveSync. Go through the usual motions of pairing and all should be sweet.

Yes, it's actually easier synching with BT than with USB, sometimes.
Just make sure that your BT on Vista supports ActiveSync. Go through the usual motions of pairing and all should be sweet.

Thanx e_gregious, I figured it out. The drivers I installed for the USB BT adapter was screwing with my options in Vista. It wouldn't show me the "BT Devices" option to set it up with ActiveSync. I had to uninstall those drivers that came with it, and just let Vista install the drivers automatically. After that, I saw the options I was looking for and it was very easy. And you're right, syncing via BT is a whole lot easier than I though it would be. People bash Vista, but I'm fully enjoying it. (until I want to flash a new ROM) :)
