Try loading the carrier .cab file. I was having the same problem until I loaded the .cab file; then I was able to use ##778. In fact once I did that I did not even need to change any of the EPST settings, but I was able to verify them.

I have a loaner phone from my carrier that they are trying to help me by installing dcd 3.2.6 on it. Everything is going well so far. This is an AMAZING ROM. Very quick, efficient, stable, etc.

The only problem is when you try to go into EPST, it looks as if it is trying to go into EPST, but then it blinks out of it right away.

Any ideas why this would be?

##778 or ##778# do not work either (same result as trying to run EPST).

Thanks for the quick reply... Unfortunately, I am with a smaller carrier and dcd does not post a carrier cab for them. Therefore I need to find a way to fix this problem. Do you think I can take the EPST.exe file off of the old phone before I upgrade it and then use that EPST.exe on the phone once it is flashed with dcd 3.2.6?

When I ran EPST, it flashed the screen like you said... then after that, I ran it immediately again and the screen came up. Give that a shot, twice in a row....

I thought I member discussing some other stuff with you. I thought you may be on Cellular South like me, I used the cab with the name something like "USCS" or something. I would try that because there was not one specific to my carrier either but that one worked. I don't think it will harm anything. After that you should be able to ##778.

OK. I may have some information to add. On my test phone that my carrier provided me to play with over the weekend (this is the one they flashed with dcd3.2.6, but no carrier cab, and EPST does NOT work), I noticed there are only 2 EPST files in the \Windows directory which are...

EPST.EXE (the executable)
EPST.LNK (the equivelent of a shortcut in Windows XP)

On my actual phone there are 3 EPST files in the \Windows folder which are

EPST.EXE
EPST.LNK
EPST.EPST

I am assuming that the 3rd file is the one that actually contains the data that EPST stores (and is put on your phone when you use DCDs carrier cab).

Can I take my working phone, backup EPST.EPST, install dcd's rom and then just put my EPST.EPST back on the newly flashed phone and be back up and working (data, voice, etc)?

I know others have had the problem with EPST not working after flashing. Have they figured anything out yet? Does this info help them?

What are the major differences between DCD's kitchen, and the one posted on PPCkitchen.org. I'm still trying to catch up as far as knowledge in all these different ppc's. kitchen's, oem's, cabs, radios, etc.etc.etc.

Arbywan, I recommend that you take the time and read this post through, and then also read related info at PPC Geeks site. SPL 2.47 is a bootloader, and you will need to install that prior to updating your radio and ROM files. You will also need to install a carrier cab file for your particular carrier.

This is all not especially difficult, but it is not something that you just want to dive into, because it is possible to brick (render useless) a fairly expensive mobile phone if you don't do things right.

As they say in the *NIX world, RTFM!

I have used a lot of different roms but for the Titan this rom really works well. It is very clean and stable and is very accepting of just about any program you want to throw on it. The switch to landscape is quick and the memory usage is very good. Great job and thank you again for all your work.

I'm preparing to flash from a stock rom to one of dcd's. The dcd roms that I found are all packaged in an exe (I think this is called an RUU). Is there a place that I can download a dcd rom so that I can put it on an SDcard and flash with SPL2.47?

Drewcam is mostly correct. Don't forget that a flash file needs to be renamed to TITAIMG.nbh. You will need to therefore flash the SPL and ROM separately, because you can't have two files named the same thing. Also, make sure your card is formatted correctly, and not larger than 2gb.

Also, please remember to upgrade your radio. Check the wikis on this forum for complete guides.

I got an xv6800 phone when it first came out and it was windows mobile 6.0. At some point I upgraded to 6.1 but I don't know if it is MR1 or MR2. Some of the forum posts indicate that I should revert back to 6.0 before moving over to dcd's roms. The SPL that I have on the phone is the stock 2.07. Any ideas why I need to revert to windows mobile 6.0?

I'm not Verizon, so I can't answer 2 or 3 well, but for #1 here is the answer. SPL first. Radio second. Then ROM. And there is no particular need to hard reset before/after flashing; some people recommend it, but I've never seen a change.

(I tried to do a soft reset between the radio flash and the rom flash but the phone hung at the vzw splash screen. i'm guessing the stock rom would not work with the latest dcd radio. so i entered back into the SPL after putting an SDcard in with the rom and from there all was good.)

The ROM is working great except for 1 minor issue I seem to be having.

- Sometimes it still says New Text Message even after I read it.

- The TIME on incoming texts are WRONG. (eg: GF texted me at 8:59am, but it says 12:59pm, and I reply it shows the correct time of 9:04am)

Is there a fix for both of these things kicking around?

I have a quick question before I flash my phone for the first time. I have nueSPL-2.47 uploaded and I'm all ready to do the ROM and radio. I haven't switch my current cell number over to my new 6800, yet. Does my phone need authenticated by my provider (verison), before I mod the ROM?

You can flash the rom/radio/spl before or after you activate it on vzw. It won't make a difference to vzw.

If I provided a link to the kitchen would anyone be willing to cook a basic ROM with just microsoft office, advanced config and the nuekernel? I'd like to disable the camera sometimes for a real boost in memory, so I can try and run things like M2D or throttlelauncher, etc... Would anyone be willing to cook this? I have a 6.5 ROM with nue kernel but really it only gives the same memory as DCD's does without it. I'd greatly appreciate it.

i have titan (originally from USCC) but it currently has spl-2.40 and ppck 23569 (which is wm6.5) and it seams to act slow...

anyhow USCC never came out with wm6.1 as other carriers did.

i would like to have sprint wm6.1 and maybe another good wm6.1 (that the camera works on)

i tried the reaper 666 one and i think the camera dont work with that one...


basically i would like to use that youtube player so i can watch videos and i want google maps to work.

note: i dont have any cell service i just use it over wifi and google maps works wether i have wifi or not already.

i would also like a better wifi finder app as the one that comes with it isnt that good i dont think.
