I'm annoyed in waiting for the promised Niki Lite Project v1 and so I played for myself with the Niki Kitchen from jerpelea (really great app)!
I build a clean and fast ROM based on OS 5.2.20275 Build 20275 in a pure black style! Hope you like it and give some feedback! :)

Update, 17.09.2008:
I've added as an attachment the solution for the german version with the non-working hardware keyboard! If you want to re-enable the hadware keyboard as an input method, install this little CAB and the problem is gone!

Don't forget to do a softreset after installing the CAB if your device doesn't softreset automatically! :)

Added TouchFLO 3.0 build 29946 from Diamond
This ROM has about 5 MB less free RAM as the ROM without TouchFLO!


Please note:
Radio 1.65.14.06 and above aren't working with this ROM, because I haven't added the neccessary OEM-Apps/Drivers for these Radios! I suggest you use Radio 1.58.21.23 from Sedna or 1.64.08.21 from Kaiser (like me)!

No but I want to add this in the next vesion! I found some bugs (I think) and so I have to bugfix this ROM a little bit!

Bug: When I install a XT9 languagepack (German, Dutch from the XT9 multilanguagepack on this forum) and choose a different language, it stays on "XT9 English" in stead of the selected language.

Also, in the Language dialog it shows XT9 languages that aren't really available (Italian, French, Italian, Spanish)

You are right. The languagepacks always need to be installed on the device.

The packs assume that when they are installed there is a WWE rom on the phone, and as far as I know the WWE roms always have those 5 languages installed. For cooked roms it's different of course.

Therefore the registry key is updated by the cab with those values, otherwise other available languages aren't available anymore after installing one of the cabs.

Well, Im using it for 1 full day now and havent found bugs, only software needed for some applications, but I can get it myself, of course. Thanks again...:)

One strange thing, I didnt installed all of the software I usually use and it already has the same 74bm of free RAM that I have AFTER all is installed...
If it doesnt have a lot of things, shouldnt it have much more free RAM than Mary or BlackDragon ROM's? :(

I build it mainly for my personal use and I don't use the video calling feature! If you want to use it, search for a cab! ;)
I'll build a video call enabled version later! :)

It was an endless wait for Niki Lite V1. No idea when he will release that. Thanks animie for coming with this version. Wondering, will you be able to add the SRS WOW sound feature like him.:) That would make this rom the best choice for all.. So far Good Work...

This line is WkTASK, a better Taskmanager than HTC X-Button I think! If you don't like it, delete shortcut "wktask" in StartUp folder!

Or you can take a look in wktask preferences and untick(remove) battery gauge, this will make disapear upper battery line from screen.

This new software is very good, it has room for improvement, but since I installed this rom I didnt used wisbar again... :)

Can anyone upload this to somehwere else apart from rapidshare or a work firewall friendly server as most are blocked for me and I need to put this on a friends device today before 3pm, if possible.

Wktask is made in Japan. I udesed fist time about a year ago, on my trinity. Best task manager ever made.

And that bar is also a battery status bar. ;) Thought this means it's not a *totally* clean ROM, but I think it is very nice that you included it. Battery, reboot function, brightness setting... Very neat indeed. :)

Maybe you should mention the inclusion of the Wktask software in your start post?

yah i trying to tweak the registry, everytime i enable the default word completion in the soft keyboard im messing up with the hardware keyboard (only inputs numeric no more abc).

This ROM defaults to abc mode. I looked around in the registry and found out you can change it to default to xT9 by editing the following DWORD value from 0 to 1:

2 questions:

- is the ROM-image intended for the (unbranded) HTC model or is it intended for the T-Mobile derivative, which is part of their MDA series?

- if the second applies; ist it compatible with the different keyboard layout of the MDA?

The reason, why I am asking all this is that I have got the MDA, and I would do anything to get rid of their ugly magenta-design - but before I am going to replace the original firmware, I would like to know what I have to expect.

I've testet it on my own MDA Touch Plus but it should work on all HTC Niki models!

I haven't testet it out, but it might work because the keyboard drivers are for both variants of the HTC Niki!

It means that you cannot write letters with the hardware keyboard, only numbers are possible and I still don't really know why! :(


I've asked some other experienced cookers and have to wait for their answers!

It's bad to answer your questions both with no! :(

Office isn't inluded but you can install it separately! And the two mentioned CABs from Blackdragon_860 didn't helped! I will try something new this week but can't say when I'm uploading the new version!




P.S.:
I plan to release an updated version and a new one: Black Basic! :D
It will have only the Core OS without ANY additional software or tools! So there will be no TouchFLO, too!

I found the solution to fix the non-working hardware keyboard with the help from vcdwelt! If you want to resolve the problem, simply install the attached CAB without reflashing your device!

I'll update the ROM with including this fix as soon as possible! :)
