Tried it on Elf, stock wm6 rom. Works quite well, both from internal memory and from Storage Card! Eats about 2MB of memory while running with 6-7 tasks. Definitely awesome for a beta version, didn't try to figure out skinning yet so I don't know if it works. Only complaint is the bottom bar, it would look much better full screen. Super thanks for taking the time to update the code!

edit: and about 1.5MB without any tasks open. Wheep, that's a lot!

well, can't argue on that.

even worse, not only it keeps snapshots of all running apps. It takes new ones from time to time, so some productivity overhead as well.

for me, just keep Vista in mind. ;)

seems to not play nice with throttle today, just like alt3d. is there a fix for this?? cuz unless i remove throttle as my today plugin, i cant use this.

I have MWC2 cursors installed and everytime i use dynamo the cursor keeps on running and running... I have to either exit dynamo (completely stop it) or completely exit MWC2 cursors..

Hey gps-lover. Huge thanks for taking the lead on this. Couple of things that I think should be addressed. First of all, I agree that the bottom bar isn't really necessary. Full screen would be welcome here. Also, the re-addition of settings back into the program is needed, and I'd love to see the ability to set a background image, not just a color. Another thing I'd like to see is to have tap-and-hold close a program. Having thumbnails of programs, but then having to click a teeny tiny X if you want to close one kind of defeats part of the purpose to me, and since tap-and-hold presently does nothing, that seems like a logical choice. And finally, is there any way to have Dynamo take a screenshot of a program running in the background? I ask because sometimes (many times) it will take a screenshot of a program as it is being minimized, or else it won't have taken it before something significantly changed on the screen so that the thumbnail displayed does not match up with the program. If Dynamo could take screenshots of background programs and display those, it would solve this nagging issue.

Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to work on this great program!

I found this to be a bit on the slow side on Diamond, but it's still a terriffic start. Keep optimizing and you'll have a legend of a program that'll be included in every custom ROM on the planet. :)

it works from file-explorer, but mapped to a button it runs the first time and doesnt work anymore... except if runned from the file explorer... strange no?

A few things:

- Themes don't seem to work, or I don't know how to set them.

- Program crashes when I select anything in the menu

- Would love a setting to adjust animation speed. Everything runs smooth for me, but I would love if it only took a half second or a second for everything to stop moving.

Just wanted to say this app is pretty awesome. Works great on my titan though i do run into some never ending wait scrolling every once and a while.

With a few speed improvements (launching), and the ability to customize (background?) and slide tile orders around, this app could become a must have.

I have the same issues as galmok with version 3.01 on my Touch Cruise.
With version 3.0 though something strange happening and after I launch Dynamo I have not any icons on Settings menu tabs any more.
In order to see the setting tabs icons I need to reset.
Any idea why happening this?

Could you do it so that it works with CF2 ?

2- it crashed as others reported. I installed the netcfv35.messages.EN.wm.cab to see the error messages but it didn't work :(

You're very welcome. I didn't give it without thought. I tried dynamo 2 long ago and was very disappointed when it wouldn't work on WM6. I think that this new version is spectacular and when it is finished, will become a standard on all ROMS.

3.02 actually works quite good on my Diamond. Trying to close StartMenu-Programs on the Dynamo interface resulted in a crash, but such things are expected at this stage.

What I need is an option to exclude applications. Some apps should be invisible. At this stage, we can simply enter the names of these apps to a file like exceptions.txt and Dynamo can read that on startup...

Since it is constantly taking snapshots of all the programs we have opened, does it put a drain on the battery at all?

I'm asking because I really loved S2U2 but after a while of using my phone my battery would drain quicker, and S2U2 wasn't even in use!

I am currently using the ALT-TAB from SPB but this looks so much cooler. For sure will install after fixing the close-crash issue in 3.02.

The cab posted in this thread works fine.


Now all we need is a way to set a long end key besides camera button. IE Middle button or end key.

im running it on my vogue and everything runs great till i try to close an app using the x button on the panel, and the program freezes and i have to use sktools free up ram to get rid od it or soft reset. i thought is was throttle today like dynamo2 that did the same thing with the plugin running but i unchecked throttle and i get the same thing. anyone else have this issue???? or a suggestion would be great

Some suggestions for the version 3:
- it could be good if some applications could be excluded from the task switch (like the today screen, or activesync...)
- full screen looks better (without the bottom bar)
- the speed adjustement (like in version 2) is cool

Using 3.02 - see a couple of issues so far. 1) The little 'x' button locks up the program when you tap it. 2) The preview thumbnails don't always match the program they bring up. 3) It keeps showing Settings and Programs windows, even when I close them. Is there a way to add certain windows to an exception list so you don't see them? I looked through the config file (default.txt) and didn't see one.

Ok, got a couple of problems with the new version. For the record I'm on a T-mobile Wing, using one of Aserg's ROMs. I've never had a problem with NetCF 3.5 working with any other programs including some that other folks did have problems with depending on the version etc of CF they had, so I'm fairly sure that isn't my issue.

It opens ok, and shows the screen shots fine, but shows no menus, exit etc at the bottom at all.

Also as reported, hitting an x to close a program locks up Dynamo, it has to be closed through TaskManager.

As another note, installing from the cab originally provided in this thread, the program seems to work fine, although obviously without any of the new features. But as soon as I copy the new version into the existing folder I have the lockup problems etc. I've tried copying it into both the original folder with the old program intact and overwriting, and into the same folder after deleting all the old files.

Also having lockups with the X-image to close. I am still very much hoping to have tap-and-hold to close implemented though. Also, was wondering if you would consider having a settings page that was separate from the program similar to the way A_C's S2U2 works. There you could have theme, animation, and exclusion settings.

Btw, Dynamo showing the wrong screenshot is still a problem. If memory is an issue, what about just having it take one screenshot of the program 2-3 seconds after it has been minimized to make sure that it displays the proper image?

well at first i tired that cab but the cab is a diff app all together and it gives me meny issues. so then i downloaded the zip attached to first post and extracted it to \windows\start menu\programs\dynamo3(so i could map it to a button) and it works great...so far the only issue i have had is as mentioned above lock up when closing with the x button in dynamo...the only thing i changed in the xml is the anim speed.....tho i'm wondering how i can chage to another theme....

It only does that at first startup. After that, it stays in memory.

Again, I just wanted to express my thanks for continuing this project. v3.02 is very good, but of course still has a few quirks.

1. (as everyone has mentioned) Dynamo hangs closing apps.

2. It occasionally shows more applications open than are really started.

3. It occasionally shows the wrong image for an application.

That being said, the speed up in v3.02 is great. Dynamo is so much more useful now. :-D

Reducing the snap shot quality from the theme setting to anything less than 100 would cut the memory usage down to 1/3.

I was wondering about the themes as well, they are there, I'm not sure if my PPCs issues are causing the menu to not show up, or if the feature just hasn't been enabled yet. Maybe we can get some clarification from, gps-lover. Great little app, once the issues get worked out it's gonna be a must have app.

I have used Dynamo before and thought it was a great idea but too slow to be useful. I'm certainly going try this new version out!

I was wondering about one thing. It's nice that it takes snapshots of programs, it looks great. But it's not really necessary. What if you could just assign thumbnails to installed programs and let the program show these? This could speed up the program while retaining it's functionality...

Apart from the fact that both dynamo2 and dynamo3 are freezing when I try to close app (I'm doing it different way any way) there is one thing that I'm missing: wallpaper!
I'm designing a new theme (slowly but still) and I could really use a background when you switch your applications. So instead of just black colour, you can add jpg or other png?
Is that possible that new version will have it?

Not sure how it would be implimented though. I suppose it could be set up so that you could manually pick an icon, etc from the menu, or in an .xml/config in the program folder. I don't know how hard it would be to have the program automatically detect the icon from a given programs exe for instance, but I guess that would probably be the ideal.
Just some thoughts, thumbnails will work if all else fails.

Man, re-writing most of the prog, did you get your self in deeper than you thought? :D

Not having problems with speed, running very fast on my Touch Cruise.

It's a nice app, still needs some improvements but you're doing a fine job.

Freezes when trying to close one of the opened apps.

The process file was only 759KB when running. Improvements are needed, like make a cab file, maybe an wallpaper, but the work is very good, thanks.

Not sure how it would be implimented though. I suppose it could be set up so that you could manually pick an icon, etc from the menu, or in an .xml/config in the program folder. I don't know how hard it would be to have the program automatically detect the icon from a given programs exe for instance, but I guess that would probably be the ideal.
Just some thoughts, thumbnails will work if all else fails.

Man, re-writing most of the prog, did you get your self in deeper than you thought? :D

I don't think having a simple, standard thumbnail for given programs is really practical or ideal. Besides, there are programs where the screen significantly changes from a "standard" so it's nice to be able to show that. Maybe the screenshot taking is using too much memory on older devices, but any newer device has enough memory that it shouldn't be a problem, so I don't think inhibiting a program's features to cater to older technology is the way to go. If it is too much of a strain on your PPC, you can always just decrease the picture quality and it will make a significant difference.

Actually the speed wasn't my biggest concern. It runs just fine on my wing, and I haven't noticed much in the way of slowdown overall with other programs while it's running. While that would be nice for slower PPCs, I don't think it's a big enough deal to dumb it down. What I was actually thinking was that it can be confusing looking at low res thumbs of say 2 similar looking windows. Say a fexplore window and a total commander window. If nothing else it might be a good option to add, especially if you could set it to do either/or for given programs. Also an exception list would be great. So say you could not have it show your PocketCM thats always running in the background but you don't need to switch to manually, or so you can hide your desktop instead of having it shown.
All that said, if it has nothing more than it does now, but the task closer part of the program gets fixed to work properly, I'll use it regardless. These are just some ideas on things to look at and think about adding. When it comes down to it, gps-lover is the man doing the work, I'll be happy with what he thinks is best.

Yes, I definitely agree with a need for an exception list. I have no need to have 2-3 windows showing for the phone program that is always running in background and can't be closed anyway (plus is activated by the green phone button). This is one of the big things I'm hoping for in a future release.


Also, an option to have the desktop screen always stay in the upper left corner would be really welcome too.

Though it dont work on my diamond correctly. As i've seen from other posts, it crashes when trying to close an running app. and then it causes my phone to lagggggg and crash :confused:

Would be nice to see a more user friendly menu system to edit settings or themes in future releases

Hmm, this new version is really not so good :-(. First of all, the wait sign is always on whenever the program is brought up, even though it is still responsive. Secondly, it seems that DPAD navigation has been removed. Third, it exits after a few seconds of inactivity, which I guess is a matter of preference, but I'd prefer it stay open until I tell it which window I want to go to. And lastly, but most significantly, the images do not update! I know there is a problem with taking a snapshot of the wrong thing as the window is changing, but this is a very bad solution to the problem in my opinion, and hardly one I would consider a "fix". One of the neat things about Dynamo is that it captured and displayed a picture of what you were last doing. Granted, having it display a page in realtime like the xperia panels are going to do is even cooler, but not realistic I think as far as a program like this goes. But to only have a snapshot taken when a program is first opened?! I hope it does not stay this way!

Oh, and the desktop shows up twice. And sometimes it exits immediately, not even waiting for a few seconds of inactivity.

Yes, I did clean everything up. The doubling persists, especially if I open and close it repeatedly. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the screenshot refresh and perhaps putting a new screenshot as a new window rather than replacing the older one? Btw, how often is it supposed to take a snapshot now? Because it still only takes one at startup.

Oh, and when it opens up for the first time, the wait cursor appears, so when it initially takes a snapshot, ALL of them have a big fat wait cursor sitting in the middle of the image.

Version 3.1b feels faster and more fluid. Nice change.

But I also see the problems reported by the other users of 3.1b (except Dynamo doesn't cancel its navigation when left untouched).

1. Double icon for 1 app (in my case it has been the today screen).
2. Snapshot only made when Dynamo is started.
3. Hourglass shown before Dynamo is shown.
4. Dynamo crashes when fingering an empty spot (e.g. show 5 apps, finger the 6. spot).

Could I suggest the option to make a new snapshot when activating Dynamo? This way Dynamo would always have the newest snapshot of all applications.

3.1b is faster and on the right direction fixing some issue.
On my Touch Cruise works ok without double screens.
It adds screenshots of the newly opened programs (after launching Dynamo).

It crash when tap on the empty area of the background.
It leaves open some screens that shouldn't. e.g.
It leaves screenshots of Programs folder then a screenshot of SUS2 folder and then
a screenshot of SUS2 Settings (although closed).
If I try to tap on SUS2 setting screenshot or SUS2 folder screenshot it ends up in Today screen but the screenshot of still remains in Dynamo.

When close the program and re launch it flash in full screen all screenshots
available and at the end appears the Dynamo with the small Screenshots.

Exception list should be a good thought to exclude programs like SUS2, Phone, etc.

+1 on the listed bugs above.. all these seem to also happen on my device..

i admit, it's a hell faster and consumes a lot less ram than before, and it is a very big leap.. but these bugs must be really paid attention for the next (i hope) beta release

(same as above, i have these bugs)
* tapping on a blank space crashes Dynamo.
* tapping a snapshot of an already closed application zooms in on the snap and returns to the today screen (but remains as the Dynamo panel)
* multiple screenshots (doubling and more) of a single program.. especially S2U2. and persistent snapshots of albeit closed programs/windows

after 3 hours of standby and occasional text messages, i have now:
12 S2U2 snapshots (at average of 10 minute intervals)
2 snapshots of the S2U2 volume control screen,
1 snapshot of the SMS list
3 snaps of different opened text messegages i received (and read)
2 today screens
1 snap of the phone application
a snapshot of a call i didn't even answer
2 snapshots of the standard WM settings (1 for the settings>system page itself, and 1 for the backlight applet)
and a snapshot of the alarm clock program that activated this morning (that was like, 11 hours ago)

i checked the list of windows that is currently running (and in the background/invisible)
and i only have, tmail.exe (the messaging inbox), S2U2, the phone app, and the settings page..

for a total of 3 running applications, i have ,like, a total of almost 30 dynamo snapshots..

fortunately, i don't experience any rotating balloon problems when snapshots are being taken..

hope the problems get fixed soon.. i'll watch this thread every day for news..

3.1.1b is clearly an improvement. So far it hasn't crashed on me or shown double icons. :-)

However, I just noticed that when S2V (image viewer) is started, it completely blocks Dynamo from being activated. I have Dynamo put on a hardware button and still nothing happens when I press it.

At first I thought it was because S2V used Direct3D (guess) but Tomtom 7 can be controlled by Dynamo (although the Tomtom ikon isn't updated). Hmm after having run Tomtom a while and used Dynamo, Dynamo is now not able to give focus to Tomtom anymore(!). Tomtom is still running and does show an icon in Dynamo, but the icon focuses another running app instead of Tomtom.

Also, I am concerned about cpu usage by periodically making snapshots. Wouldn't it be enough to make a snapshot of all apps when starting Dynamo and then update them when the app loses focus? (or is it too late at that point?).

the only way I can reset it so it will show the actual apps I ONLY have open is to close Dynamo (with the little OK button - topright).

kind of inconvenient.. and I miss the names of the programs when you hold down!

There is a most serious problem with Dynamo 3.1.1b. Its cpu usage is a constant 10-15%! It has drained my battery from full to nearly 0 in about14 hours. I normally expect quite a few more hours of that battery. :-P

Also, when I close Dynamo, it causes a lock-up of the phone(!).

So, we are not quite there yet. Features can wait, but please get the cpu usage down and allow Dynamo to exit gracefully. :-)

Hey gps-lover. New version is much better, but still some issues. It updates photos now which is great. I still get some funky issues with the wait cursor being on for a long time, doesn't seem to be a good reason for it. Also, the doubling issue is better but still not gone. If I have a program open, go to Dynamo, select it, then open up the taskbar, and go to Dynamo, it has now made a new image with the taskbar overlapping the program, but still has the other image too. Tapping either one brings me to the same program. Hope you can get that sorted out.

Also, as somebody mentioned, Dynamo will not pop up when S2V is on screen. Tom Tom does not work either. Dynamo 2 handled these applications perfectly, so I would suggest you look back in the source code for some important code you may have cut out.

Edit: Nevermind, 3.2.01 solved that. As for the wait cursor, it doesn't show up anymore when Dynamo starts, and it is not imprinted on any of the screenshots (woohoo!), but for some odd reason whenever I bring up Dynamo after it's already been opened, the wait cursor appears and stays on the screen. The program is still responsive, it just has the wait cursor image on the screen until I click on a thumbnail and open up that window.


Also, and this is a very minor point, I have noticed that when I use Dynamo to go from one program to a new one, the thumbnail zooms in to full screen, then for a split second it shows the old program, and then reverts to the new one. I remember Dynamo 2 did this as well. Not a big issue, but was wondering if there was a fix for that.

I mapped it to a button just as I did before, by creating a shortcut in programs (that worked last time and is the only way ive gotten it to work)

with the newest version, when it is running it works great (however I changed the exception to INCLUDE programs and settings, but they still dont seem to show up)

hoewver, sometimes Dynamo will activate, but often it wont, when started by pressing a hardware button it is mapped to.. it will work if I open it via Total Commander, but not the hardware button (most times)

basically sometimes it will work through hardware button, but most times it wont

im tired ;)
hopefully this can be addressed in upcoming version?

That is what I am using. I was just writing 3.2 but I meant I was using 3.2.0.1 and that is the one crashing. I have not used 3.2.

Also, would it be possible to have Dynamo update its snapshot when switching to an application? Currently that is not possible unless polling is enabled (which it too costly in terms of cpu usage).

When setting "snapshot update rate" to 0, snapshots are never updated. Wouldn't it be nice to have it update once the switched-to application has finished redrawing? Maybe take 1 snapshot 5 seconds after switching to an application?

Hmm after having successfully started Dynamo 3.2.0.1 once (using TotalCommander), I am now able to start Dynamo using a hardware button. This is a tad weird...

Also, when starting Dynamo, it cycles through 3 apps, Today, Comm Manager and Total Commander and end up showing only 2 snapshots; one of the Today screen with half of TotalCommander showing as well, and one of TotalCommander. Comm Manager isn't shown, but on the subsequent activation of Dynamo, Comm Manager does show up (3 snapshots showing).

Also, when programs are minimized, Dynamo does not initially show them. For instance, I have PocketCM minimized and it does not register. If I bring that program up and THEN activate Dynamo, it will take a snapshot, and work from then on, but not until I've brought the PocketCM screen up.

Ok, sorry I'm posting so much, but have another thing to add. I've discovered that the wait cursor problem only happens when I use Wisbar Advance 3 to skin the wait cursor. If that program isn't doing its thing, the wait cursor does not stay on screen. I don't know whose issue that is, but is there anything on your end that you could do to resolve the conflict between the two programs?

I'm also seeing Dynamo quit whenever I open ThumbCal. It's fairly specific though. If Dynamo is running and then I open up ThumbCal, if I call up Dynamo I get the shutdown. you know, IMHO we should first polish the main functionality, not going too deep into one and every special case caused by those quasi-system programs. i mean cursors, shell extenders etc.
when the main thing is done possibly we could go a bit deeper to handle such exceptions.

If the problem is finding somewhere to post the source, google code provides excellent hosting for gpl projects with svn source control, a built-in wiki, and issue management. Sourceforge is nice too.

I think Dynamo is pretty cool, and I admire the original author for releasing the source under GPL. And since he released under GPL, it is his intention that you should release your derivative works as well. I don't necessarily like the WAY the source was requested, but do think it should be released.

I specifically released the source code for my free projects as MIT so someone else can steal it, take all the credit they want, and not be forced to publish their crappy code. But that's just me. I have nothing to hide, I know my code is crap half the time.

Hey gps-lover. Still problems with this version. Still does not capture minimized windows. Sometimes doesn't even capture active ones. Also doesn't work in landscape. Have attached a picture of what happens. Also have noticed that if I map it to a button I still get the cursor problem, but if I execute it from the file explorer, I don't. I know you've rewritten most of the code, but could you think about looking at Marek's source some more? His code may not have been optimized, but it worked. I never had a problem with Dynamo 2 not recognizing a running program.

I had some apps that didn't show up until I pulled them to the front so it would take a snapshot...you might try that and see if any of them show up.

Here's another request to press and hold to close.....I use wktask's 16 icon launcher for launching apps...I use hbutton to allow multiple apps on same button based on time you hold it...currently ie button calls the visual switcher and if you hold it down calls IE.... the Mail button calls wktask launcher and if you hold it calls mail.

I am also finding that now Dynamo sometimes stops displaying a thumbnail of a program that it was before. For instance, I opened Pocket Player then used Dynamo to go to the desktop, then when I clicked on Dynamo again Pocket Player did not show up, even though it was still active and in fact playing a song at that moment.

I have a question and did not found a answer and must report some bugs:

1. There are graphic files and themes, i renamed another theme to default, but dynamo looks always the same, there are no graphics, or highlighted windows (like its written in the txt files) ?
2. Can´t close the htc comm manager anymore, its always on and present in Dynamo ?
3. The button to start dynamo doesnt work with A_Cs s2p and s2v ?

i use resco explorer to create a link for it, you can try that

Nice - copying the .exe didn't work but I was able to copy and "paste shortcut" into windows/start menu/programs and that did the trick. I was then able to assign it to a button.

I must say - this program kicks ass. Very cool - just like expose on my mac. It should create a shortcut in programs by default though, and it should have an icon.

It's great ! Not (yet) the fastest way to switch, but already both the most convenient and pretty.

Your last beta is working fine with (at least) opera, but also the phone dialer and few others while the previous one didn't show them.

All I'd need now would be some optimisations at startup. I saw you already did a nice job in this area, I guess it can still be improved, and it will be perfect :)

i need an advice - from all of you, guys.
in previous versions we supposed the program to be launched in the middle of device usage. therefore it was necessary to take all snapshots during the start. of course, it gave a massive impact on starting time, plus, imho, was not very straightforward for the enduser. :(

now, as soon as the program takes only 1 Mb in memory instead of previous 9, and is only 100 Kb size, i think it's time to switch it to autostart.

in this case we do not need taking initial snapshots (you've noticed it in the last beta, right?), and we have speed optimized.

what do you think?

I did not encounter an app that doesn't display up now.

Any app can (only one at a time) display twice, one of the two thumbnail has no title.

still doesn't display right snapshots until you select them in dynamo (one by one), build 03 worked better from this viewpoint.
edit: It's looks ok once dynamo has been started manually though, I have to check if that startup thing is enabled or not..
edit 2: nop, snapshot even got black again while nothing else happened..

I did not encounter the crash I already reported for beta 7 up now, still testing.

By putting the refresh rate to 10 seconds you've decreased the risk of Dynamo capturing a false image while a program is being minimized. However, I would like it to refresh faster than this without the false image problem. I don't know how Dynamo handles snapshot storage, but I'm guessing it probably keeps only one snapshot per program in memory. What do you think about it keeping 2 snapshots just for whichever program is currently active, and when that program is no longer active it automatically discards the last screenshot taken and displays the previous one? I think this would solve most problems. So for example, if you have a 3 second refresh rate, it would store two images, each 3 seconds apart. When the active program is minimized, it would discard the most current picture so that if that picture happened to be taken as the program was being minimized this would not be displayed. That way, each screenshot displayed would be at minimum 3 seconds old and at most 6 seconds old, which is better than 10, and deals with the false image problem. I know it would take up more memory, but it would only ever be one extra screenshot at any time, and all newer devices out now have more than enough RAM to deal with it.

No, it is done for productivity only. Following proposal from galmok, I added capturing last active window right before going to snapshots tile. It is done however only for the program from which you call dynamo. In case that you minimize programs with red button, and then call dynamo, those minimized were not captured.

However, I would like it to refresh faster than this without the false image problem.

it's another story, not a bug at all.
the problem is the poutlook.exe program (scheduler of the calendar), that starts up with normal window properties, but does not display itself. It changes its state to the normal one only when you call the Calendar program. From that time, its window becomes called Calendar and is visible as all other programs.
So, when it is only a scheduler launched by the system, d3 recognizes it as a usual window. When you try to switch to it, it does not show itself, and another (previous) window is being shown.
So this case is a kind of exception which we will record and exclude later.

maybe this occurs after a silent program crash. I just noticed it while d3 didn't respond on first call, I had to call it twice, so maybe it crashed first then loaded again fine.

I didn't mean it crashed, like the crash I already reported before with dump details (I think it does not happen anymore btw..), I just thought d3 sometimes failed at taking snapshots, and thus displayed black boxes (with program icon) instead. That was just an idea, please ignore that :)

Just tested with opera, I minimized it (with the cross), and it's still a black box in d3.. it's only fine once I call d3 from Opera, now..
Isn't d3 supposed to take snapshots at regular intervals anyway ?

anyway, I still have wrong snapshots, from a wrong program.
check the screenshot, both window at the top are resco explorer, but the left one brings opera (which was not displayed) when selected.

edit: I found another application with same behavior than poutlook.exe, regarding unshowed windows: mortbuttons.
If you can add it to your future 'window-monitoring' list :)

No, it is done for productivity only. Following proposal from galmok, I added capturing last active window right before going to snapshots tile. It is done however only for the program from which you call dynamo. In case that you minimize programs with red button, and then call dynamo, those minimized were not captured.

Yes, that's what I'm getting at. I, and I'm guessing many others (for instance lastnikita who also mentioned this problem), do not always switch programs EXCLUSIVELY through Dynamo. My suggestion was for solving this problem specifically. If you keep two images in memory and discard the last one when a window is inactivated, you are basically guaranteed not to have the "wrong window snapshot" problem.

please check the last version (since 3.2.9beta3). i added capturing snapshot when a new program is detected. so now it captures before program goes minimized.

If you use wktask launcher it shows in the list of running programs even after being "ran" and clicking on it shows the desktop. Not sure what to tell you to look for to exclude it though...I guess it would be safe to exclude all the time since you'd never want the launcher showing up in a task switcher..it would lauch an app and exit.......???

please check with a regular task manager, if the program is running. possibly, it is not closed properly, maybe just minimized

Googlemap launch is showing instead, I guess the snapshot was taken too late.

The excluded list seems to work with poutlook but as you can see mortbuttons.exe was still displayed, and activesync as well..
You can see Act.sync and phone dialer in my screenshot from the post below, cprog.exe is supposed to be the dialer right ?
My edited line is: cprog.exe,poutlook.exe,repllog.exe,mortbuttons.exe ,pccommloader.exe

ps: way faster, no more flickering, no crash so far, it's reached a new stage ;)

no report, just closed and I needed to open again (got black boxes then, which sounds logical)

there was that tile which was showing twice (for 'notes' app), one with wisbar advance 3 start menu open on it, maybe that was the cause (it crashed when I selected this tile)

Maybe I should exclude wisbaradv3.exe too..

edit: it is reproducible, I think it's wisbar "fault", see attached.
See the 2 same tiles near the down-right corner ? The one on the left is activesync, and the one on the right is activesync with another title (I think it's the process name for wisbar start menu), when I clicked that one, it crashed again : freeze until I hit 'enter' key, then d3 opened & closed on next call, then one can call it again and it restarts correctly.

Also, I had the programs file window open and even though I closed it, Dynamo kept it in its list but chose to remove the today screen from the list instead.

Also, I am not quite sure I like that the new way of ordering the icons. I would like to have the option to have the icons sorted according to when they were last used.

Actually, desktop, commManager, Activesync, and Phone are all running, it's just that HTC TaskManager automatically excludes them. You can add them to exclusions in Dynamo3 if you wish, but I personally am glad that there is at least the option to show them as opposed to with HTC's. With the second desktop, was there a different label at the bottom of it?

please disable wisbar. if it happens again then it's my fault.
if not, i'm not gonna check it this time.
