[THE] MRE TFL3D Icon theme - MODIFIED 14.09.2008 - New Icon themes added

First of all: Special thanx to Zitoun for the initial icons and D-MAN666 and Sushilange, the developers of the Manila Editor tool. THANX !!!!

Ok, have been playing around with the Manila Editor and created my own Dock only theme. So only the dock icons will be changed when you install this.

Installation instructions:

- Disable TFL3D
- Install .cab file
- Enable TFL3D

Theme shows up in the Add/remove programs on your Diamond and after uninstall, your normal TFL3D icons will reappear.

WARNING: I created this icon only theme based on the 1.37 Manila files. I use a 1.93 ROM on my Diamond but reinstalled tlr-manila.cab to get the animations back. On my Diamond it works perfectly.

Use at your own risk, I won't take responsibility for your own actions !!!!

UPDATED New Calender icon added to the theme. Removed the HTC Diamond call history icons as they didn't work. Call history icons remaind the same, the yellowish ones with the white phone.

I don't use the call history tab, but it can be implemented. It that only 1 or 2 extra manila files ?

Would be nice if you could supply me with 256x256 vga icons for the camera, music, program launcer and call history tab. Took me a lot of time to find icons though. I can use the "old" icons Zitoun used for camera and music, but program laucher and call history....will look for that....

It doesn't matter on which language you install it. It replaces only the icons, not the language files. So it can be installed on any language....

There is a program in one of the kitchen files named QuickCab.exe. I use that program. Works ok for me. Attached it to this post. The other program in this post is to extract .cab files. Also very handy.

Cabwiz is a wizard like program. First select the files you want to add, then select the directory you want them to be copied to. Make sure you close manila editor before creating the cab file. That's all. Good luck....

Make sure your .png files are resized to 128x128 and 64x64 and insert them with Manila editor. As soon as you insert your .png file in manila editor, you will see that the file has been changed. You can see that in your windows explorer because the time and date stamp are changed.
Then use the Quickcab.exe (see my post earlier this morning) en select the manila files you want to add to the cab. Select the \Windows folder and create your cab file (leave the registry options blank).

Also, the zip file in my earlier post contains another program which will allow you to extract cab files.

I don't know which program you use to resize your icons. I use Photoshop CS3 and when I resize my icons, I use the Save for devices and web option in the File menu to save the files.

There doesn't seem to be one yet. I'm going to have a play around with the Theme Editor and .cab compiler. I won't hold my breath; some one else will probably have made it before I get it to work!

hi, no joy at the moment. ive gone simple to make sure im doing it right.

what ive done is...
- extracted the 'noapple' file.
- used manila editor, taken one of the png, opened in paint, scribbled over it and replaced it back into manila editor.
- opened quickcab, selected all the files in the extracted 'noapple' folder including the one i've replaced, created a cab and copied and installed on my diamond.

the cab installs, but im just left with the original diamond icons...?

do i need to specify a custom .dll in quickcab? (ive tried both ways)
do i need to copy the '_QUICK~1.000' and setup.xml from the extracted 'noapple' folder into the cab? (ive tried both ways)

Ok, nice. You can use the cab extractor tool in the zip file which I posted earlier. That one works perfectly. Don't use the 037DEF~1 files. You really need to insert the images in the real manila files like 8e4773_manila.

Also make sure that when you use the Quickcab program that you select the windows folder on the right side of the screen to put the files in. They should be in red color then.

hi, ok here's my first cab (ever). it replaces all the icons on the dock with more light-hearted stuff. it is tested and working on my diamond 1.94 from swift. i couldnt find a suitable icon for call history or email so pelase suggest and ill add them to the cab. no screenshots either unless someone can suggest a program to use. big thanks to mre-net for helping out in the thread :)

I can't confirm it because I haven't tried. But the manila editor program only supports .png and jpeg I believe. Furthermore, it's hard to find really nice gif animations.

Ok thanx for your feedback. I know you aren't picky about this, I had the same remarks with other icon themes, that's why I created my own.

No, I can't make an "icon manager" program because I'm not a programmer. I only used the manila editor posted here on the forum. So I can't help you with that.

About te weather icon: It's flat because I'm Dutch and if you've ever been in Holland, you know that Holland is as flat as a piece of paper, so I took a picture of it and made an icon out of it ;) No, just kidding. I liked that icon myself, so if you have an nice 256x256 icon you would see in the icon set, I could implement it for you. Just make sure it has a transparent background.

Also, It's very simple to create your own icon set. Just download the manaila editor and my icon set and replace the icons for your own icons.

Can you make a screenshot of it and post it here ? The problem is probably that the original icon isn't in the right size format. I had some problems converting is to the right size. I can reupload the theme with the old call history icons if you like...

You meen docked as in charging it with your usb cable or standing in a docking station ? No, dock icons are just the icons on the bottem and will always work...

I haven't tested it on cooked roms, but I know some guys who use my icon set with coocked roms. Just download the file and copy it to your device, disable your TFL3D and run it. Reboot and enable TFL3D.

However although i have found all the icons i like i just cannot get the whole Manila editor and cab thing working right, now i'm usually quite good at figuring these things out however on this occasion i'm wll and truly stumped.
So the favour i want to ask is that if i send you all the icon files i want would you mind throwing together a cab for me? No problem at all. Just zip them and attach them to your post or give me a download location. Also make sure you put in a text file with the names of the icons and which ones you would like to see where, like:

House.png - Home tab
Camera.png - Pictures tab
Sun.png - weather tab
etc...

The Call history - Messages - Internet - Photos and Weather icons i made myself using various downloaded icon files and a bit of 'cut and paste' wizardry. The Home - Contacts and Music icons are files i downloaded without any editing. As far as the other tabs are concerned i used MRE-net's original Programs icon and the Swiss army Knife for Settings.

In my opinion they look great on the Diamond, a touch more 'cartoony' than MRE's but i like them.


Now figured out how to do screenshots, so here they are.

Install V3 please.....But V2 also has the calendar icon. Make sure you've added the calender to your tfl3d. If you haven't done this, the calender icon won't show up.

I made the NoApple icon set before I enabled the calender tab, so I think the NoApple Icon set hasn't got the calender icon included.

For those who want the calendar icon to show up, you first have to enable the calendar. Follow the steps in this thread:

If you don't enable the calender tab, the icon also won't show up. First enable the calender tab, then install the icon set.

Also, I'm thinking of adding a tab for the Comm Manager...you wouldn't happen to have an icon for that that matches the rest?

Sorry for all the requests. If it's a hassle then don't bother. I'm just not a big fan of the iPhone so wanted to stay away from Apple-ish icons :P

I don't use a tab for the Comm Manager, but it would be possible to add an icon. I don't have an icon which matches the other icons, so if you have a suggestion for an icon, I'd be happy to add it. Make sure the size is 128x128 in jpeg, bmp or png format. Don't know what the manila file is for a comm manager but that wouldn't be too hard to find out. More than enough info here on the forum.

and make sure that your calendar tab and calls tab don't have the same page order. If both have page order 5 for example, only 1 of the tabs will be shown. Make sure that the calender tab has page order 9 (or some other number) and the call history has page order 10 (or some other number)

That'd be great. No rush so take your time. I'm actually debating whether to include a Calendar tab or not lol (since it's basically a useless Calendar right now and doesn't have the ability to set appointments etc). If you do get around to it...please throw in the Call History tab into the NoApple set too? :P

As for the Comm Manager icon...maybe the current icon in Programs for Comm Manager? I think it'd fit with the rest of the icons in the set.

You'd need to find out which manila files are for the Music Tab icon. Then simply replace those manila files in the original icon set by MRE-Net with the manila files in the NoApple set.

There are two manila files: one for the small slider icon and one for the big icon that shows on top when you're sliding.

Use this program (see attachment). Rename it to MSCEInfen.exe and execute it because it´s not really a .zip file.

To all others, I don´t have too much time the next couple of weeks. Doing 60 hours a week at work and i´m tired as hell when I come home. Please read the forum on how to create your own icon theme. It´s not that difficult. :)

So i'm kind of fooling around with Manila as well. My plan is to make a theme from the best game out there, StarCraft! Of course with StarCraft 2 graphics :)

What I do is export an excisting image as PNG, open it with Photoshop, edit it without changing the positioning, save it and import it again. But somehow the saved image shows up at a completely different location, and is larger then the original. How can this be? Manila clearly states that (for example the 012 clock image) is 256 x 256 pixels. Somehow when I save the same image with different colors it shifts and enlarges...

Anyone familiar with this problem? If you don't know what the heck I'm talking about I'll post some screenshots.

Did some digging on the forum, and found a threat that discusses pretty much the same problem. It says to use 96dpi (Photoshop CS4 automatically made it 112dpi, no idea why). This however doesn't solve the problem...

Attached cab uses MRE-net icons, includes missed call tab, calender tab, & communications tab. I use the knife icon for comm tab, the mac computer with programs running for the programs tab, and the ipod with headphones tab for music tab.

However - and it's mentioned before in this thread- : with none of your cabs I can get this icon to work. I installed the calender tab with active icon exactly as described, and it works fine, but only the original red and white icon appears, whatever cab of you I install...
Maybe you can give me the manila files so I can copy them in my windowsfolder?

Sorry for the late reaction. Still very busy....But you are right. I don't use the active icon. The icon I use in my set is the icon before the active icon. So that's why rjh62 can't get it to work.

@rjh62, you should use the non-active icon instead.

DOn't know what you did, but the home icon should be a tft monitor with green background. THis is in the cab. Dont' know why it shows the gray icon. Please deinstall and reinstall....

I tried to install even the taskbar that can be found on the web page you provided us with (http://www.xs4all.nl/~mengelsm/HTC) and everything works fine too, except one thing - the battery status shows always 15% even when the battery is fully charged :confused:.

i installed this on a sprint touch pro 2 stock rom. im attempting to remvoe it but i get the "not completely removed" issue... i quit touch flo and attempted a removal but the icons are still there... any workaround?
