Not anymore you can't, they stopped doing it for free in may unfortunately. So now we have to shell out £15 for virgin to unlock them.

In answer to the original posters question. I have spent days searching the internet recently for a free or at least relatively cheap way to unlock the lobster and the cheapest way I have found is to contact virgin and cough up £15.

I can find the unique 8-digits SIM unlockcode with the help of two files you must dump from your phone and email to me. Contact me by PM and I will make you a reasonable offer.

Connect the phone with a usb cable and make sure activesync is ready with syncing. To produce the required files run "simlock.bat" from the attached zip file on your PC. There will be two files called docid.bin and simlock.bin in the subdirectory "1" on your PC.
