its not new. its been done in the past to fix VZ users who let Sprint customizations run. I think the trick is properly sending the /Refurbish parameter. I once made a cab with a shortcut to launch the .exe with that parameter, but it seemed to only work for about 50% of people who tested it.

Is it possible you still have the cab, I loaded Vista and haven't gotten all of my tools working yet.

Are you 200% sure that whatever you are using to execute the command is correctly sending the parameter? this is all the verizon customizations do. config.txt should say "EXEC: /Windows/RadioRefurbish.exe /Refurbish"
I know I spoke with NexxVision in the past and he had no problems using it outside of verizon customize. I think I also remember reading that /Refurbish is case sensitive.

Yes I'm 200% sure. I've made my own shortcut link with the parameter included as well as tried with Resco Explorer 2008. Both /Refurbish and /refurbish did not work. Nitro, it must have been a fluke, I don't know what to tell you.

LOL...it really doesn't matter if it works on the stock rom. If you have the stock rom flashed, it already ran as part of customizations. The entire point behind the thread on ppcgeeks was rolling back the PRI without having to flash back to stock, which as I've stated, is not possible.

its absolutely not impossible. there is no ability that the stock rom gives you that any other rom doesnt. it is simply executed by autorun. other people have been able to run radiorefurbish.exe within custom roms. talk to nexxvision. its an issue of correctly passing the parameter, the exe seems to be touchy.
i've personally rolled my PRI back using radiorefurbish in the past when i was messing with it before. i've never had the verizon stock ROM on my device.
i am sure that if the exe is run with the parameter by autorun (config.txt has to be modified) then it will have the same effect in any rom. if anyone wants to test, it would be a quick change to the UC package.

I'm not doubting that it's never worked before...because I too have had it work a while ago when I had to roll back from the Sprint PRI. Since then, I've tried to use it on several different occasions on several different roms not changing my method that worked the first time whatsoever, and it does nothing. That's all I'm saying. If you can somehow get it to work, more power to you.

I flashed the new verizon rom and had the customizations run before I knew it was a bad thing. I am on the new verizon radio and dcd 3.2.6.
Just need some prompting on how to run it. I usually flash via sd with uc via sdconfig.

if you just want to try... copy the radiorefurbish.exe to the /Windows directory. Then in Resco explorer... highlight the file... then go to Run... type /refurbish in the paramaters part. If that does nothing... try /Refurbish

I'd test it, but my PRI isn't screwed at the moment, and I don't feel like screwing it on purpose just to test it. If anyone out there has PRI 2.03_002 and wants to revert back to 1.35_002, I'd be happy to instruct you on how to do it.
As far as the RadioRefurbish from the MR1 rom goes...I believe you're right in that it's the same as from the stock rom. Momentary brain fart as I knew it was PPST that writes the PRI. The actual customization that does it comes from signed_080313_7500_VZW_2.03.sa.cab. The config.txt then execs \Windows\PPST.exe and \Windows\WriteDMData.exe.

here is a link for all the files you need to get gps back after the new update messed it up.
Steps:
1) Use Titan to Stock Verizon.rar, use the titan_relocker.exe (do not extract the file, just run the exe) then use the RUU folder and run the update to fully return it back to stock. LET CUSTOMIZATIONS RUN!
2) Use nueSLP2.47 to change the bootloader
3) Flash 3.42.50 Radio via SD card! (easiest method!)
4) Flash custom rom
5) Use TitanGPSfix.rar (has all the files and instructions how to do the fix)
just another method to get gps back.. peace :P

I have xv6800 and am willing to try...on step two of GC's fix...let me know what I would have to do find out if the new pri and 2.47 allow gps
from ppcgeeks.com - (courtsey of madjoker)
Steps:
1) Use: "Titan to Stock Verizon.rar" and use the titan_relocker.exe to relock the titan to the older 1.xx bootloader.. then use the RUU folder and run the rom flash to downgrade to the old verizon rom with the old radio. after LET CUSTOMIZATIONS RUN. (you would think that the old pri will override the new one, but it will revert back when you do step 2)
2) Use nueSLP2.47 to upgrade the bootloader (just use this, instead of 2.40 because this will allow the pri that the new verizon rom installed (2.03_002) to work with the custom rom you flash later.)
3) Flash radio 3.42.50 via sd card (or another way u perfer), if need be take out the battery and put back in if you stay in bootloader after this flash, then you should be able to boot as normal)
4) Flash custom rom (i used ppckitchen 20273 build)
5) Use TitanGPSFix (instructions to do so are in the rar file.. and you are done.
After all this I still did not need to reset my A-key or call verizon so it worked out great!
Do you think this will do the trick?

Step 1.
Update VZW ROM from UTstarcom website.. Let Customizations run after install..
__________________________________________________ _________
Step 2.
Unlock you're phone using NueSPL 2.47.. Found here:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=30561
If you have problem flashing from SD card then follow these steps:
*1. Download NueSPL2.47[Newest Release]
*2. Back up your files on you mSD card to your PC
*3. Extract and place NueSPL2.47.exe on your SD card
*4. Run it.. this program will format your SD card to enable flashing from SD [if its not already formatted CORRECTLY]
*5. NueSPL will place the BOOTLOADER file onto your SD card and name TITAIMG.nbh... Let it run.. it will now update your Hard SPL to version 2.47
*6. it will automatically put your phone into Bootloader mode
*7. The gray screen will pop up indicating that its flashing a BOOTLOADER
*8. Press the power button when prompt to start flashing after it finishes.. allow NueSPL2.47 to clean up..
*9. your phone will restart..
Steps to Flash your Radio in Step 3.
*10. Extract and place RADIO named TITAIMG.nbh onto your SD card
*11. put your phone into bootloader mode by pressing POWER+CAMERA+RESET buttons
*12. Bootloader should now recognize TITAIMG.nbh as CDMA not Bootloader..
LET IT RUN AND YOU'RE DONE!

thanks for the Radio Refurbish..
For anyone who want to upgrade their PRI to 2.03_002 without having to flash the new VZW Upgrade..
Place it into /wimdows directory.. Click and hold.. select "open".. select "Parameter"..
type in"/Refurbish" ....without the quotations..
THIS WILL UPGRADE YOUR PRI TO VERSION 2.03_002.. GOOD LUCK

Are you sure about this? I did this and I am still running 1.35_002. Is there any message I should be looking for after I run this?

yea.. instructions are provided by NexVision.. look here
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=282968&postcount=33
I, Myself also tried it..
ran it from parameter.. there are no confirmation after you run it.. but you can see that your signal will disconnect and reconnect again.. then you might have to reset..
I just tried to run this Radio Refurbish(2.03_0020) from the earlier post.. but no luck.. I don't know whether he uploaded the right Radio Refurbish or not..
But then again.. NexVision did mention that you might need to reflash your ROM or do a Hard Reset..
thats why when you flashed the new MR1 Upgrade (with PRI 2.03_002).. And then Relock and flash the stock ROM (with PRI 1.35_002).. it seems as though the PRI had reverted back to version 1.35.. and then if you flash a custom ROM after.. the PRI 2.03_002 comes back..
I guess that explains why you still see PRI 1.35 after you run the 2.03 from parameter..
give it a try and tell me how it goes..
hmm.. will look into it and report back

I have completed the steps above and still have no GPS after the "Official Update" ran customizations. Any body else get this process to work for them?

I recall GC saying that NueSPL 2.47 won't work for the PRI issue. You must use Olipro 2.4

Only in the process of coming back to custom after rolling back the PRI. Once you have your custom rom/radio flashed and the PRI set, updating to 2.47 is ok.

Right. I didn't read the whole thread... but being that it's titled "PPCkitchen.org's alternative solution for restoring VZW PRI 1.35_002" and someone mentioned 2.47... I was making it clear. :D

I first tried the above mentioned process with 2.40, then tried again with 2.47.
Guess I have to do the titan to stock method, does anyone have a link to that stock ROM?
I've seen it mentioned previously.

Yeah I've said it many times...there are others who disagree with me.
The only way I've seen the PRI get rolled back correctly is the method I laid out in the other thread, requiring going back to stock.
There should be a link to the stock files in the wiki.

hmm.. it should work.. i just did it last nigh.. my GPS locks almost instantly on a cold start..
here is what i did... I was using the ppckitchen build 20273.. then I..
*flashed the VZW upgrade.. let customizations run..
*Relocked and reflash to stock.. let customizations run..
*unlocked it with NueSPL
*flashed Radio 3.42.40
*Flashed my kitchen..
*applied the GPS Fix..
then did a reset..
hope this helps..
BTW.. I noticed you are using DCD's ROM.. there are people who are having problems with the VZW upgraded PRI and DCD ROm..
Look here..

Well believe me, I tried everything but the PRI from hell fix and nothing was working. Till I read this thread. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2596918#post2596918) Now GPS locks super fast and is super accurate in Google maps.
I'm the posterboy for this fix too. I flashed from stock to the MR1 update, then to the newest DCD rom & radio. The fix at the link above works great.

I suppose I will post test results from installing the VZW Radio.. with PRI 2.03_002..
10 minutes ago.. i had radio 3.42.50 installed with PRi 2.03_002.. PPCkitchen build 20273..
*Tomtom 7 GPS had 2 bars.. and was searching for about 45 seconds before picking up any satelite and getting a lock.. Keep in mind.. GPS reception inside my home is extremely bad.. I normally get lock within 5 seconds on the freeway..
I've just flashed the VZW Radio 3.37.. still sith PRI 2.03_002.. PPCkitchen build 20273..
Tomtom GPS has 4 satelite on a cold start and now has 8 bars when locked..
this is a significant change for the better..
both test were made sitting here on my couch..
so i guess my conclusion is.. the new VZW Radio works best with this VZW PRI 2.03_002..

I'm seeing a lot of conflicting information spread across all these threads... I was under the impression the new PRI actually broke gps... in another thread people saying new PRI yields better performance with the 3.37 radio... and in here the topic is how to revert back to the old one? so what's the point of going back to the old one if people are saying the new one works better?
if it is better... i assume upgrading the PRI with thise .cab is actually recommended then? I thought the PRI upgrade is what made the vzw update horrible and breaks yer phone?! Ahhh! IM CONFUSED. lol

and you should be... I originally posted this thread right after GC posted his PRI FROM HELL thread.. because his method works.. but was said to be Highly Risky.. so I asked around and found a different way to change the PRI back to 1.35_002 without Re-locking your device..
and then some people played around and figured out a way to get PRI 2.03_002 to work with GPS on custom ROMs..
and then I tested the VZW Radio 1.37.75 with the PRI 2.03_002 and got AMAZING results.. that why I posted a thread to confirm if anyone else got the same results that I did..
so you see.. you're just confused because you weren't following these threads from the beginning.. many solutions have become available since the VZW MR1 release..
so everyone who is getting great results with their GPS actually have the following configurations..
GPS Enabled Radio (.30 .40 .50 or VZW .37)
PRI 2.03_002
GPS Enabled Custom ROM
GC's Titan GPS Fix
GC's VZW AGPS FIX
works great.. give it a world..

have all that... I guess I can give it a try but I'm still wondering what's different between NOW and when people were saying their gps was broken? and why it's broken in stock vzw rom but not if you just do the PRI manually and install a custom ROM?
