Call me stupid.... what's XIP?

XIP is kernel of OS.

You can see a version of XIP: Start->Settings->System->About
OS CE 5.2.20721 is current XIP.

To build ROM with new XIP you must: put "MSXIPKernel" folder to "SYS" folder. Then build you new ROM with new XIP. :)

For Example you can use Polaris Kitchen v1.3 - WM6.1 (Build 19214.1.0.4)

Unfortunately all ROMs I tried (Glass 0.4, UDK R7 GER, bepe) which

It's a real pity! Seems the only way is using WWE for getting
the advantages of the new builds....

First off let me say thankyou for putting this package together.

I have cooked a rom and it boots up fine so I have started to customize it. Run into a few problems that I am hoping someone will be able to fix.

Here goes

I have used the package creator to insert some cabs into the installation. 3 of my cabs went in fine the rest create errors when building the registry.

So I am looking for a way to auto run the cabs. When the OS loads it seems to run a UC application from 2 places.

config_operator.txt
config_PT.txt

These point to cabs in the \windows directory and are installed upon first running of the rom. Brilliant I though. I copied the cabs i wanted into the OEMAPPS folder. Now when the rom is flashed my cabs are 100% copied OK into the windows folder as I can see them and run them.

So I edited the config_operator.txt

CAB: \WINDOWS\googlemaps.cab
CAB: \WINDOWS\coreplayer.cab
CAB: \WINDOWS\3iepatch.cab
CAB: \WINDOWS\opera1938.cab
CAB: \WINDOWS\advancedconfig.cab
CAB: \WINDOWS\keyboard.CAB

XML: \WINDOWS\Menu_Operation.xml

Now when I re-flashed and the OS boots and I can see it in the install run my cabs and it looks like they are installing. The last one restorepie.cab then resets the device.

Upone reset my cabs have not been installed even though it looked like they were. Why is this?

Also is there a switch I can put to delete the cab after install? something like

CAB: \WINDOWS\opera1938.cab -d

Trying to use your kitchen but got stuck on how to change the automatically splash screen already setup in the BAT file? I was looking for NB file so I could just change the path but didn't understand those files named polarishtcrtproj.....:o

CE OS is fine. Already done and is ok. Now, build isn't correct. Showing like I said 20275 cause I'm working on this build prior 20721 have been released.

I got the 20721 SYS folder from Niki's Forum which you probaly knows the source already:p
So, that's where problem arises. If I use it, got stuck during the splash screen. to go away, I have used 20275 sys part.;)

Hum....right.:) So, verifying that SYS which is original from Diamond, there's no WinCENLS_WWE folder. But .VM and Shell ones are there. If I only getWinCENLS_WWE from my working 20275 SYS, would it work? If not, from which original are you talking?:rolleyes:

That's what we are facing right now....
You don't need a exclusive reg key for settings. It's done and already in SYS. This reg keys is working fine over my 20270 ROMs. :p

So, any other thing is causing this...

couple of other things I have noticed.

When launching windows media player from the touch video browser it loads toa blank screen.
When i press green to enter the phone the display is messed up and some buttons dont have text.

Seems to be an issue with threaded text messages. Turn off threaded text and you can read SMS ok.

These are used to cook your own ROMS. They are OS system files so its just like a later build of windows.

If you use the polaris kitchen you can copy these files in and cook a rom with a later build of windows mobile then the kitchen provides.

I build my own custom rom now with all my apps built in like core player,tomtom7,google maps etc. Its brill.

That is until udk releases his diamond9 with those sexy looking performance enhancments!

Open the file in notepad and you can see all this guys reg edits to be installed when cooked in. I removed this folder then re-cooked. The build now reads as 20721.1.4.0 rather than 20721.1.4.4KhanX as it did before.

I also replaced a .dll so now threaded text messaging works OK.

Those Reg keys are there cause wanted!:p Don't understand why removing all of those specific lines could solve the rows issue as my previous roms were using it without any problems. :o

1. It is not the registry issue. It is related with some of the \sys module. I am confirmed..
