It doesn't have Touch compatibility... and it doesn't have all the other options resco has.. which is why i'm staying with resco.. but the image preview is very useful if you wanna arrange your images.

Only way I have gotten this to work as oem is to separate the fexplore.ex (.exe actualy) and to make a cab file of the exe, not the dll to run in customization. that way the user storage space only gets 8kb eaten.

You can also just add the dll and rgu; then tap and hold for the context menu everytime you start the explorer.

I had big problem on my Polaris. It was giving a hanging twirly wheel all the time even after soft resetting. Only way I could get rid of it was by soft resetting keeping my finger on the central D pad button (scroll wheel button on Polaris) which allowed me to open settings and go to remove files. It might have been luck not sure but I got rid of it and all is well now.

Polaris - had a problem where it would just hang/spinning wheel while navigating through folders - particularly the Windows folder. Had to keep resetting but it would still be spinning away. I had to delete it as it became a real pain.

I'm missing one feature in both big Windows and Windows Mobile for File Explorer -> Copy source (for Shortcuts). This function should be in Context Menu during selecting of a .lnk file and it copies the file to which the shortcut points.

With this we won't have to search where the file is to copy it.
I'd really would like to see it in next FE Extention.

I installed this yesterday and it seems to be working great but there's one thing that keeps bugging me. If File Explorer Extension isn't open and I click File Explorer through the startmenu, it shows the File Explorer in a list view and then in icon view.

I've set it too icon view in File Explorer Extension and I know the reason this is probably happening is because File Explorer Extension isn't residing in memory at that very point and when I click on File Explorer, File Explorer Extension is being loaded a split second later and then refreshing the page so the icons are shown in icon view.

Is there anyway to fix this as it makes it look a bit messy.

The only fix I can think of is to make sure File Explorer is always open and alway's running in memory but how can this be done and would this consume to much RAM?

Simply point and drag. A bounding box is not displayed, but the files you drag over will be selected. What doesn't make sense?

I'm experiencing that too, for both Details with Headers view and Icon view. In short, there is a noticeable lag before File Explorer Extension starts.

Sorry if this is extremely nit-picky, but I love this program in every way, shape and form except for ONE thing... I can't stand the icon that's used for the shortcut and the exe itself... is there any conceivable way of returning the icon to the default WM6 file explorer icon so it looks good in TF3D once again?

scroll your files using D-pad .. it will show preview/thumbnail without opening the album

I think it's not adapted for samsung i900, it doesn't have have a scrolling d-pad as HTC mobiles.

Yes, If I use landscape I can resize and see all the columns again, however when I switch back it keep the previous settings, maybe two different settings .INI. I cant seem to find a solution. I uninstall with SKTools removing all files and registry entries, reboot, Install, reboot but still same off screen columns setting. I still gonna keep this extension. Its great!!

Look in " Menu >>View options " and make sure "details with header" is checked.
If you have "details" there's no resizing possible.

1 for portrait and 1 for landscape I guess.

They both have some hexadecimal values.

Mine were:

ClumnWidth: 1A 01 3C 00 3F 00 00 00
ClumnWidthLS: C6 00 3C 00 3F 00 00 00


I changed ClumnWidth giving it the same values as ClumnWidthLS and the edge of the 1 column appeared on my screen again so I could change it again :)

The file explorer is amazing. But I am facing a problem. I have an HTC Touch 3G running windows mobile 6.1. When I use this file explorer to change the file association, it successfully changes. However, the icon of the program it is associated with doesn't appear on the left of the file name. Only the windows icon appears to the left of the file name. However whenever I click on the file, it does open with the required software/player. But because the icon of the file type it is associated with does not display, it becomes slightly confusing for me to make out with which software will it open.

The OEM version is for ROM chefs, not the average users, so it wouldn't really help you. Check the other thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441087) you posted in, I posted there with two alternatives that would work for you.

I could open File Explorer but I kept getting error messages saying there was a problem with FEE and it would offer to send an error report to microsoft. It did this pretty much over and over until I closed File Explorer and then I decided to just uninstall FEE. I'd love to have it. It looks great and has awesome features that I think are seriously lacking. I'm glad I didn't lose File Explorer like Serkot.

Hello guys.

I just installed this app on my HTC HD2 and got issues like mentioned before here. Cannot open File Explorer and it crash all the time. It gave those error messages almost non-stop. The performance is very slow now even if I had uninstall the app.
When I start the phone and give SIM code I need to wait too long.

The image preview would start up but it didn't seem to work properly. I was really hoping it would but what ended up happening (for me) was that it started a tiles-based format which I've always thought was silly and a waste. I just makes big icons and that's useless to me so in short no the image-preview did not work. Plus I think the image-preview was causing some of the problems and making it crash. I've updated recently and am trying out Sergio76's The Cell EVO v3 ROM which is a WM6.5.3 based ROM. So far I'm having pretty good luck with it and have thought about giving this extension another shot, however, it didn't work for me with WM6.5 so I'm kinda doubting it'll work with 6.5.3. If File Explorer was stable with it installed I'd keep it but it just wasn't. I use FE too much to have it continuously crash like that. I would love it if this could be fixed. FE needs help bad and Total Commander does not solve the problem.

i cooked version 2.06 into my rom (tmobile us 6.5 recooked)

it crashes on the exit button. At first I thought that if I recmoded file explorer the problem would be solved... but it is not. I am also suspecting the storage card as a culprit. it seems to crash when I exit while in a folder on the storage card. it also crashed once while installing a cab (also from storage card).

I am currently working on a project to "FINISH" and optimise the tmobile rom update.. it could really benefit from FE. browsing trough image folders works, viewing the extension of the files work. maybe I just need a propper oem.. or maybe it has something to do with modules.

for now, the only option is not closing file explorer once it is open.

I hope that the issue can be resolved soon. I miss using this program a lot since 6.1

I like this extension because FE doesn't use too much resource :)

Tested on my Prophet with WM6.5.3.3 works without any crash or problem,
EXCEPT after installing a CAB or JAR/JAD files and then clicking the "X" button to exit FE it hung the whole system.

I also tried to use TaskManager to close the FE and it still hung the system after i push the "EndTask" button on FE (no other application was running other than TaskManager and FE)

And It only hung after installing CAB/JAR/JAD from FE, other than that it works like a charm :)

It also hung when i:
1). Run FileEXplorer
2). Go to "Storage Card"
3). Drag the scroll down to see all the file names
4). Click the "X" to exit and then hung

Also when i install a small CAB from my Storage Card(SD) and then exit (without changing directory since the time i run FE and exit, because FE already open the Setup directory in my Storage Card from beginning) it didn't hung O_o

The file explorer is amazing. But I am facing a problem. I have an HTC Touch 3G running windows mobile 6.1. When I use this file explorer to change the file association, it successfully changes. However, the icon of the program it is associated with doesn't appear on the left of the file name. Only the windows icon appears to the left of the file name. However whenever I click on the file, it does open with the required software/player. But because the icon of the file type it is associated with does not display, it becomes slightly confusing for me to make out with which software will it open.

Thanks for replying. I am using stock rom, but have never had any problem with mp3 ringtones/alerts, I always have copied mp3s to internalStorage/My documents, then they're selectable in my sounds/notifications tab. The morning after I selected an mp3 and associate with winmedia player, I noticed that ringtones were silent, and text alerts silent (they were set to mp3s and for the last year have worked fine). Only a few of the alerts I select on the sounds/notifications tab will preview or play any sound at all. Only thing I can think is it's from the file ass'n, as that's the only thing that's changed recently. Also, as I said, media icons are no longer next to the files, just standard windows icon. I even sometimes cant 'x' or 'ok' to close my sounds/notifications tab if I have an mp3 selected for sound. Not even close with task mgr, have to SR.

I will look @ total commander. But even if I could force 'open with...' a system software to reedtablish my ringtones, not sure what I would choose to 'open with...' .

I hope this post makes sense, typing fast to try to catch you while you still logged in. Thank you for your reply, but with this added info, do you possibly have any other suggestions. Or just how to Undo file ass'n? Thanks TONS.

If I remember right, stock file explorer has a 'set as ringtone' option thru long press or menu. After uninstalling extension, that option no longer exists. Am I remembering wrong?

Well i am running stock WinMoPro 6.5 rom so this may not apply. But my phone (HTC Imagio) only recognizes ringtones on the device and in the "My Documents" folder. I saw you tried them on the device- just not sure if you stuck them in "My Documents".

I appreciate your reply. I have always used InternalStorage/MyDocuments for ringtones, that makes them show up in the dialog box under settings/sound&notifications. Now my 'set as ringtone' option is gone from my file explorer altogether, and if i use sounds/notifications to select tone, if I select an mp3 now, it crashes when I try to close it.

I just picked up a samsung intrepid on 6.5 for my little brother, and showed him to put mp3s in storage card/MyDocuments and will work for ringtones. worked fine. That is wierd. Thanks for reply though, much appreciated. Sprint ordered me a new diamond when I went in to ask about insurance process. Not sure I really want a new one though; I've spent the last year tweakin this one exactly how I want, AND it's been a super reliable build of 6.1. They told me I had a new one on the way before I evdn asked thdm to. Not sure how I feel about a new one. Surprisingly, not real happy about a new phone :/ Soooo much time spent time tweaking.

For me the problem with the freezes doesn't occur anymore since I flashed the TP2 with the latest official ROM by HTC and patched it with "Duttys Task Manager".

problems with freezing in 6.5.xx can be fixed by adding "fexplore.exe" and "shell32.exe" processes to the exclusion list in the task manager that you are currently using.

If you mean create a shortcut to start menu/programs...yes. And it does it much nicer thsn default explorer which would make shortcut, but your icon in Start menu/Programs would be labeled 'Shortcut To GPS Compass' (for example)n rather than just, simply 'GPS Compass', which is what this extension does.

can you pm me version 2.06 2.07 does not preview pictures for me on my lg expo.

here is 2.06 cab. I'm on Android now, and just installed opera to upload this to you (default browse doesn't support upload- unbelievable!). but I BT'd this from my WinMo. hope this works. this is 2.06, it is version I used.

after install fexploreext v2.06.CAB, I find that my HD2 easily hang .. especially I go to "task" end all ...

Have to remove battery cover to press small "red" button ... after I uninstall this cad .. it more stable ..

If you would have bothered to read any of the last 1~10 posts you would notice a reason for this... v2.07 BREAKS the quickview function (preview of pictures if you will)...

Can anyone explain to me why it is that I seem to be unable to permanently change this program's icon? Or why when I change the icon initially, opening file explorer sometimes takes 2 or 3 taps? Someone mentioned that there's some sort of known issue in changing this icon. Anyone know anything about it?

Yeah. Absolutely awesome. After using this, you wonder why it wasn't included stock by M$. Leaves you wondering how Microsoft dropped the ball so bad. And the "Open with..." feature is absolutely great (just like on a desktop, how it SHOULD be). That and thumbnails. Man, just superb software. I'm gushing, sorry.
Anyhow, great, reliable software on my WM6.1, never have had a single issue with it, nothing but great functionality. An absolute must-have for any WinMo phone.

It also hangs my Diamond when I try to close it by tapping and holding on the icon in the taskbar (Wisbar Advance Desktop 3.5.5.7). I have WM 6.1 and SPB MS 3.5.5 UI

Liking the extensions so far, thanks a lot for making this!

If I could make a request/suggestion, could you add the ability to paste a cut/copied file/folder into another folder via the click-hold menu of the target folder? I hate having to go into the target folder and choose Menu > Edit > Paste, then go up a level all the time.
I find I do this repeatedly when I've transferred a group of files via BlueTooth to my phone since they end up in the same folder and often I move them into a folder one level down for organization.
