When I was flying on vacation I have decided to monitor the flight progress with the flashy Diamond Touch and made some interesting discoveries:
The best GPS signal strenght on Boeing 737-400 is not surprisingly at the window when the Diamond is either in horizontal position touching the glass with its front edge or sides. The signal is pretty bad if the connector side is at the window. Alternatively the GPS signal is fine when the Diamond is standing in a vertical position. In all these scenarios the DOP was 1.6 or excellent.
Some of the trains that I travelled on are just perfect Faraday's cages, no GPS signal ever makes it through, others were fine again close to the window. I even managed to entertain myself on a long train journey using Google maps and quite surprisingly the battery charge went down only around 25% in one hour, and this is with the GPS on and the phone switching between Edge and GPRS, constantly downloading the maps.
Another interesting discovery was during a couple of long nights spent tasting wine in the wine cellar with no mobile signal at all- I found out that the battery drained very quickly in matter of six hours. This would explain varying battery life for some HTC users- when you are in an area with poor GSM coverage the radio runs at 100% and this sucks the battery bad.

And the last observation made- the photographs taken inside a wine cellar with the Diamond are quite good the only downside is that you need to stabilize the Diamond on a steady surface and try not to photograph people as they always tend to wobble especially after a couple of bottles :-)

On the way back I did not even bother testing the same on Airbus A321 since they had the sat nav system for all on the LCD screen.

Overall- great success and very happy with Diamond.

PS: Using Duttythroy ROM's.

Don't even attempt to photograph people if YOU've been tasting wine for a while :p
