After countless hours on this website and others, I still have not been able to find a place/way to get WM 6.0 or 6.1. I know it was limited release, but surely someone, somewhere has it? I had my baby in March and was severely ill for some time afterwards, so upgrading my At&T 8525 from WM 5.0 was pretty much the farthest thing from my mind. Hubby called AT&T, but they said it was on the website. I can't find a download anywhere.
My ultimate aim is to update the rom--first to WM 6.1 hopefully, and then play around with some of the cooked mods. I'd like the look of an iPhone. I've managed to unlock my phone using the cool SIM/CID software. Unfortunately, everything I do is thwarted by
1. Needing new .net (3.5 I guess, but I can't get it to work!)
2. Having the old 5.0
Alternatively, are there any cooked roms out there for 5.0? What should I do?
Thanks, very, very much. I've tried really hard, but I can't figure this out. (Yes, I've been to the HTC noob guide, etc.) I'm back at work now, and need my phone to be super awesome because I travel.

God bless you, zocster! I'm downloading right now and hopefully will have a shiny almost-new phone. I was really considering an iPhone, but the 8525 is already paid for and does a good job syncing with Outlook at work.

aha.. I just recently dove back into HTC phones. I went outside the box for a little bit and took a stab at the Pantech Duo.. what a worthless piece of crap that thing is. Traded it and 100 bucks for a brand new in the box Tilt.. first 10 minutes of having the tilt I was hooked on HTC all over again. :) gosh I missed this place. :-P

All links for shipped ROM is on first reply by me :D I am sure she downloaded that, all she needs to do is install .net 2.0 and active sync 4.5 and run the .exe file and that's it! bob's your uncle. :o

Yup, just stick the stock rom on.
Btw, you dont need to copy .net to your phone, it will come with most cooked roms!
just make sure you have the newest one installed on your desktop for the custom RUU.

Yes, unplug the phone while you doing it, don't worry about flashing OEM, DR P's instruction has WM6 official from ATT. just follow the doctors orders.

It can take up to 20 min to run the process, and you WILL LOSE Active sync during it.

When I'm trying to load the AT&T WM6. I hook the phone to the computer via USB and start an Active Sync connection. I execute the file and it does its thing--checks my computer, has some boxes for me to check claiming I understand, etc.--then I hit the appropriate buttons to tell it to upgrade/update. About 2 of 3 minutes, I get the screen and it says there is no connection and the only option is an exit button, which I assumed was my only option. Maybe I should let it sit for awhile?
I just want you to know that you've been great to help me. I've been on a lot of forums, and would have been roundly denounced at this point. So...thanks! :)

Second option, download this (http://www.4shared.com/file/61372397/e2bf76c0/official_ATT_WM6_striped.html), format your sd card with fat32 through your card reader, and ... follow this instructions (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_SDCardFlashing). I think you have dodgy cable, have you tried different cable or different USB port?

If she is using Vista, she might have problems running RUU as well.. I think there is a VistaRUU fix somewhere with a set of instructions... I had the problem when I was trying to HardSPL my kaiser... not sure if it is strictly a Kaiser thing or if it's a Vista thing... ?? not sure.

You should be fine flashing from vista with custom RUU, you just need to update to the newest WMDC(I think its called that) or use the old XP active sync drivers, ill dig out the links if she is on vista (there on the wiki I think)

Yeah. You shouldn't have any problems with Vista, providing you've got the latest updates.
When you connect with ActiveSync, Vista uses the Remote Mobile device drivers to communicate.
The moment you hit "Upgrade" on the RUU install, the mobile goes into bootloader mode, and Vista has to install new USB drivers to maintain communication. With the latest version of MDC, this happens without a hassle, but if you've got a pre-SP1 version of Vista, you may have some issues. Firewalls don't help either, if you have one turned on.
Otherwise, put the device into bootloader mode (ok+Power+stick in the soft reset hole) and run the RUU again. It won't be able to detect the SPL, but that's OK. Just pick the recommended one and continue.

Vista used to be a PITA, however im sure with the latest WMDC you should be fine (as another member has said), hence why ive removed the vista RUU guide from my site....just not needed anymore.

I got the AT&T WM6 to work! Hooray! I have to have an ActiveSync connection but no relationship I think. I also did ifonz, but it's not really what I'm looking for, and it made my phone a little slow. I'm going to experiment. Are there any ROMs that I SHOULD NOT TRY because they would be way too hard?
