TT6 maps are compatiable with TT7, you might want to try bugging TT support.
Otherwise I'd just try uninstalling TT7, and re-installing TT6 from the SD/CD OR you could try the TT7 cab file thats floating around somwhere, I've had it working with TT6 maps.

I'd the same problem on my orbit2. TT6 maps cannot be used with TT7. Because TT7 is implemented in the ROM it cannot be uninstalled. Therefore I dumped out the ROM. After that I removed the package/directory "TomTom Navigator.exe" and the link file TomTom Navigator from the dump. Then just re-build the ROM and flashed it to the device. Then I got a ROM without Tomtom. At least installed the ttn6.cab from the original ROM.

you'll find some useful hints here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=379559. You have to use NBHexctract, the ImgFsTools and hcrt.exe to rebuild a NBH. How it works is explained there.
This is also the solution for your other thread.
