Just this morning tried to install Release 3.1.1 WQVGA (240x400-Omnia) version. Managed to put everything on the micro sd card. Even managed to get to the point when asked for the language preferred. It looked like everything was installing. I pushed the soft reset button just beside to the on/off button. Nothing seems to have happened. I don't see any new skins :( What have I forgotten to do or what did I do wrong. Please help!

Went through this Q&A and added 26 by copying 25. They both say external gps under the TEXT entry. The window still pops up ok and now when I touch one of the menu entries it just brings up my comm manager. Isnt this supposed to just turn bluetooth on/off wifi on/off or phone on/off without the comm manager?

First of all, congrats and thanks for this great theme pack!

I found a little problem concerning the Wifi commands on my HP iPAQ 214. My device has a blue led to indicate if Bluetooth and/or WLAN is active. When calling any toggle command from the skin's Wifi menu, the blue led quickly turns on and then turns (and stays) off, no matter what command I sent or what its outcome was.

It appears that the MortScript "Vibrate" command, which is used in the scripts, causes the blue led to turn off. My PDA does not have a vibration function (it's a pure PDA), but still the blue led reacts in that way to that command.

Just to let you know... for another improvement for this already great achievement! :) For a quick fix I'll now simply remove the Vibrate commands from my Wifi scripts.

so...everything works fine and the spb menu is in the right order. From the Now screen, "My Menu" launches without worries, however there is no icon in the space. What are the correct registry settings to remedy this??

1. Settings --> SPB Mobile Shell --> Now screen --> Layout: Classic + Configure --> Set clock to analog here !!!

2. Tools --> SPB Skins 3.1 --> Extra Options --> Choose now screen layout: Single clock, and after that choose a theme for analog clock !!!


--> Now, only if I could remove this (for me unnecessary) calendar tab !!!

SOLUTION TO REMAP SMS AND CALLLOG-BUTTON TO USER DEFINED PROGRAMS

SMS-Button:

Open your favorite registry editor and go to "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\RAI\:MSINBOX" and change the value "1" from "tmail.exe" to the path of the program you wanna launch. And do not forget to set the " " ! For example:

"My Storage\Program Files\VITO\SMS-Chat\SMSChat.exe"

Save and your done, the SMS button on the main screen of spb mobile shell should now launch VITO SMS Chat.

CallLog-Button:

Go to your windows folder on your phone and copy the file CallLog.exe to another directory, just for backup purpose. Open the attached file CallLog.run with any texteditor you have. Change the path inside to the program you wanna open with the CallLog button. No " " this time. Save and copy it with the also attached file CallLog.exe to your windows folder on your phone. Overwrite the existing CallLog.exe, ignore the warnings. Should work now. If not, try a soft reset.

No Solution for calendar yet and i dont use the mail button :D.

Tested on Samsung Omnia with german WM 6.1.
Im not the author of the CallLog.exe. Its based on the run.exe from us1111 from Modaco, full credits to him!

I tried your tweak with PocketCM on my Omnia, and I got the text button to opem PocketCM once after doing the tweak, but after that it only opens the stock texting. Can you post a screen shot of the settings maybe? Possibly I'm missing something!!

I appreciate it!! I have been playing around more and found after I do a reset, it will open PocketCM from the text icon again, but not after that!

OK....as time went on, the change 'took hold'. About an hour later PocketCM opens every time I hit the text iconnow.....COOL!!!!

The task manager problem started about a week ago when I moved the icons around in the Customize Menu section. I will try to find it. Thanks....Now I am going to try the clock and calender icons!! I'll let you know how it goes...thanks for the info.

P.S. I will try to find the task manager in windows, but do you think it could ne exported and zipped so I can try ot that way?

edit...I can't find it anywhere!! Maybe if you can post the exact location (if you know). I would appreciate it!!

edit again!: In playing with Customize Menu again, no matter where I move the icons, which ones are checked...... I either get the navigation icon on the home screen and task manager working, or I get a clean home screen with the navigation icon showing only on the program screen, but task manager NOT working. So I guess another file wouldn't have helped. But if you have all your icins where they should be AND the task manager working, I would appreciate knowing what settings you have in your Customize Menu app.

The file is located in \Windows. As i mentioned befre, it could be hidden, so you n an explorer, that can show hidden ROM files.

In the customize menu, all checkboxes need to be marked, every single one (10 all together).

I played around with it for a long time, and came to the decision to leave well enough alone LOL!!! The only time the task manager will work is when I have the navigation icon stuck on the home screen. What I did do was to go into the settings and add a task manager into My Programs, so now I don't have the nav icon showing and when I press the star icon I have a menu pop up that I can run the task manager from....an extra step, but one I can live with I guess!!

Two things though...

First: I have 11 boxes checked:

Organizer
Internet
Multimedia
Tools
Programs
Settings (not checked, but there)
Messaging
Games
Navigation
[blank](profiles(CT, volume...))
My Menu
Running Apps

All checked and in that order.

Second: I just remembered...I have Greatball's extra icon (games) CAB running. It was make to activate a games icon in the stock Shell screen. Do you think maybe something like that is included in this skinning app so they are conflicting now?

Again, this works from the Program Launcher, but not the Now screen. I've tried both "My Storage\Program Files\VITO\SMS-Chat\SMSChat.exe" and "\My Storage\Program Files\VITO\SMS-Chat\SMSChat.exe" and neither affect the icon target on the Now screen. The functionality is unchanged as before, and I see the list of text messages in the normal windows mobile interface. Perhaps it's a versioning issue with the old mobile shell 2.0?

My Favorites (heart) icon is not displayed either, which I've read will not display unless you have SPB mobile shell 2.1.1 or greater. Is this correct?

Also the wireless connection LED at the top toggles settings as intended, but the LED indicators do not update themselves. For example, bluetooth is turned on but when the shell returns to the now screen no blue LED is lit until AFTER going back into the wireless connections manager. I think I remember seeing something about the vibrate function knocking out this update of the LED bar....

I've got a TON of software installed on this Omnia i910. Can I upgrade to SPB MS 2.1.2+ over the original install without incident?

Hm yeah, maybe thats possible...mikibests skins-pack includes two additional icons for the program tab already, so you dont need another cab installed. When you have uninstalled the other cab, try reapplying your current skin from mikibests pack.*both thumbs pressed*

hmm it makes sense. I have version Spb Mobile Shell v2.1.4.Build.3722 - (Malestrom) now and I will try to install it. Keep your fingers crossed; I have done a hard reset and had to start over more times than I can remember...

OK OK OK!!! I am reaching the end of the line here!!! I just did two things...one....I updates Shell to the current version and second...uninstalled Greatball's Game and Task Manager CAB.

Now I get the front icon not working at all (I can't see it in settings or do anything with it). and if I move anything from where it is now I get the Nav icon (now labled My Menu on the home page) showing on the home page in the normal place I don't want it AND on the top of EVERY page!!!!

Not sure what to do next except possibly downgrading Shell and hoping I can get the old capabilities back!!!!

I had the same kind of issue and found that you have to have the SPB Custom Menu set up in the exact order as found on Mikibest's FAQ page:

I tried changing the order and got a result similar to yours. Worth a shot anyway!

Try to remove the My Menu item (keep pressed over it and select delete). Next run the Install_**.mscr script to reinstall it (skeep the Theme install option). ALL THE ITEMS MUST BE CHECKED (also the Settings one)

so...everything works fine and the spb menu is in the right order. From the Now screen, "My Menu" launches without worries, however there is no icon in the space. What are the correct registry settings to remedy this??

so...I upgraded to 2.1.4 and the favorites icon is visible and working finally. Also, I was able to use the tweak that Vulture posted to change the SMS icon on the Now screen to point to SMS-Chat. Well done!

Unfortunately I'm still having issues getting the Call Log icon to route to iContact properly from the now screen. I notice there was already a file in the Windows folder named CallLogs.exe - is this just a coincidence? I replaced CallLog.exe with the file Vulture posted and edited the path in the CallLog.run file as instructed, but it still links to the Samsung Call log for some reason. Anyone seen this?

Vulture...thanks a lot for the info, I tried to fix the issue, but when I updated to the newest version of Shell, it messed EVERYTHING up....it got to a point where the weather page would sow when Shell was opened, and hitting the back arrow took me to a black screen!! I dia a hard reset and restored to what I had. I have a task manager in the 'My Menu' icon on the home page, and it is really only one extra press, so I am going to call it a day and live with that one nagging issue. Very strange how that happens!!

i modified my previously posted ...

these scripts work like the ones before : change the size of spb phone suite icons (large to small to fit MikiBest theme) & another to change to original size back

the difference is that these new ones posted here also add a registry tewak to add a link under tools---> spb skins
this makes it easier to locate them for people who change the icon sizes alot between MikiBest theme & other themes

if you dont change that much, you can just use my older ones & locate them with file explorer when needed

Perhaps this is outside the direct scope of your work with the skins, but have you considered providing an option to backup not just your skin settings, but all the menu settings and anything else that's tweakable in Spb Mobile Shell settings.

My feeling is that we would all find this very useful.

Am interested if anyone knows how to add a link or shortcut for the \Tools\Phone Profiles and to the \Tools\Task Manager so that I can put them in the favourites menu (My Menu) on the Now Screen.

I have only come across one method at the moment, but this seems rather "clunky" - see link by (bigchrizzieboy (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2508866&postcount=8)). The problem I have with this method is whilst it does work, on executing the link, say to change profile, the change in profile works slowly (presumably as it is calling the main program again), takes you out of SPB Mobile Shell and leaves you at the Today Screen. The link to the same function on the \Tools menu takes you back to the \Tools menu and it works instantly.

I imagine there is some coding somewhere within the .dat files that allows these functions. Perhaps in a future release of the skins these shortcuts could be part of the My Menu but selectable incase people don't want them?

SOLUTION TO REMAP CALLLOG-BUTTON TO USER DEFINED PROGRAM

CallLog-Button:

Go to your windows folder on your phone and copy the file CallLog.exe to another directory, just for backup purpose. Open the attached file CallLog.run with any texteditor you have. Change the path inside to the program you wanna open with the CallLog button. No " " this time. Save and copy it with the also attached file CallLog.exe to your windows folder on your phone. Overwrite the existing CallLog.exe, ignore the warnings. Should work now. If not, try a soft reset.

No Solution for calendar yet and i dont use the mail button :D.

Tested on Samsung Omnia with german WM 6.1.
Im not the author of the CallLog.exe. Its based on the run.exe from us1111 from Modaco, full credits to him!

has anyone been able to get this hack to work on an Omnia i910? Mine seems completely unaffected by the changes. I have ContactUs BE 6.4.5 with SPB mobile shell 2.1.4 and the latest mikibest skins....

The Reg edit by Vulture does work from the NOW screen after a while......just stop using the messaging shortcut in the programs screen as this seems 2 reset it. Soft reset sorts it out but it amazes me th@ people cannot work this out 4 themselves. If any1 uses thumbcal as well then download this badboy. It really is as easy as it says in the read me file so don't even ask 4 help on this as if u cannot get this working then u really should just go & buy something like a dumbfone!

ElDiablo77 is correct about the MMS/email button seeming to 'reset' the texting app to stock from the one you set it to with vulture's tweak, but you don't have to resort to a reset...just open a task manager and close out the stock messaging app. I have this happen all the time when someone sends me an MMS. I open the message, and then just make sure the app is 'truly' closed.

P.S. He is also correct about the ThumbCal, it works great, and more tweaks are promissed for future versions.

I just tried running the app from imarche, but when i click on the first .mscr, i get a pop up saying it cannot find Spb Mobile Shell version 2.1.2. I am running 2.1.4....Can i not run the skin app?

I don't have this issue, but I went back to 2.1.2 after I had other issues with 2.1.4, so if anyone can shed some light on this I would love to pass it along!!!!

i am using one of the skins in this package but where is the symbol for a reminder... when a appointment/task goes off... if i go to my default today screen i see the left softkey saying reminder and i have the bell in the taskbar.. but in spb there is no notification that an alarm went off.....

am i missing something?

I wonder if MikiBest (or someone else) can suggest which registry keys to backup so I can reinstall my menu assignments easily. I can save the theme settings and retrieve them (thank you for this facility) without a problem but the contents of the menus seems more difficult?!

Looking at the registry this key seems to be a likely candidate?

SPB Skins 3.1 --> Extra Options --> Customize the Layout --> Layout - Now Screen --> there is only option Double Clock + Big Analog which provides Big Analog Clock as a third clock on today screen.

I don't want two other clocks (digital & small analog) beside Big Analog.

How to remove them, so that it remains only Big Analog Clock ?

Your correct about the resetting of the button, but theres a simple way to get around this: Just use a program to close an application when you press "x". Like tman, inclosemobile or anything else. Im using Wisbar Advance 3, this function is already included there.

To thumbcal: You mean when you press a day in your calendar on the nowscreen thumbcal starts? I wasnt able to get my omnia to do this, even though i've set thumbcal as my standard calendar and the original calendar.exe is replaced by a new one...

Alright guys, so here's the deal: Vulture's tweak for routing to a 3rd party contact application by tapping the Call Log icon from the Now screen DOES indeed work as outlined here:

HOWEVER......

Just to prove to you that I am not incompetent or crazy for not getting this to work before, here's the explanation:

All works as outlined above, EXCEPT if you have applied the registry change to remove the Samsung Dialer skin here:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin]
"Enabled"=dword:1, you should change to 0 and reboot your Omnia

If you apply this registry change, you get a much cleaner keypad during calls, not to mention it saves about 10MB of RAM to boot. There is a Call History button from this screen that when tapped brings up a completely different call log app. It is similar to the Samsung factory call log interface, but slightly different. THIS is the one that is launched if you apply both the registry hack above AND Vulture's Now screen tweak. If you re-enable the Samsung dialer, the Now screen tweak works perfectly. Now, if we can just figure out how to make them both work together that would be great. I can't figure out what .exe is being called by that Call History button that appears after removing the Samsung Dialer skin, but if I could I would just replace it with the files that Vulture provided and we would be in business. Anybody got any ideas here?

Why am I getting those two lines in the red circle shown in the photo?
I'm using the QVGA version on a HTC touch cruise phone.
I tried using various other setting but those two lines are always visible.

does anyone know how to fix the place where spb suite icon appears in the spb today screen with the skins installed? it doenst fit well into the skin.

and does anyone have tips on to keep the speed of spb similar with or without skin. In my opinion, let me know if you disagree, the skin slows spb down significally.

possible improvements:
- one thing i really miss on the skin is the end button to go to normal todayscreen.
- when your in a menu (lets say programs) and you slide some pages, there is no way to return directly to the main menu. it would be great to have a main menu button between the two arrows in a menu page..

jvlist...it isn't really a 'fix', more of a band-aid, but for closing Shell to get to the Today screen you can just swipe upfrom the bottom and it will close Shell. If you have Watcher Shell will open back up to the Home screen. I guess to have both functions you want you can not use Watcher and swipe to close Shell...that will get to the Today screen....to get back to the main menu page you would have to open Shell up again.

As I said...a band-aid, but it may help!

Your right, it would be cool to have a button like that, but as I mentioned...if you use Watcher, swiping upward will close Shell and automatically open Shell again to the main screen....works for me!! (until something better comes along of course) LOL

I'm trying to using a decompiler to look at cprog.exe to find out what callLog this is calling after you disable the samsung dialer, but the phone won't allow me to copy the cprog.exe over to my desktop for some reason. I can copy over other executables, but not this one. Anyone know why or have a better way of troubleshooting this problem?

Nevermind, I found a free way to do it. Here's How.

Download and install this DLL File installer (http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/download/mwgfxdll.EXE) from http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/graphix.htm

Download and install Show image converter (http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/download/show.zip) from the same location.

Make your image in whatever graphics program you want and save it as a standard 24bit or 32 bit bmp then open it in Show image converter and save it as "WindowsNT 16 bit bitmap (565)"

and you are done. :wink:

Note: Make sure your image is 24 bit or 32 bit before opening it in Show otherwise you might not see the "WindowsNT 16 bit bitmap (565)" option in the dropdown box.

If not, you should use one, cause when tmail.exe is not running, SMS-Chat will be launched. Try to close it manually with the built-in windows taskmanager, you should see the effect right away, if everything is setup correctly in your registry.
I suggest you try tMan to get this thing working.

That LOOKS like the image you sent me, if it is, you didn't do anything wrong with the image. The fact the generator accepted the image means it was good.

It looks like your in landscape mode in that shot, if you do, it looks OK....I know the top bar looks strange, but that is just the way it looks. The only other thing I notice is that you have PhoneAlarm installed, and the icon is out of scale....there is a fix for that somewhere in here!!!!

Anything I missed? Please ask, I may just be missing what you meant.

I sent you two pictures. Both of them are named "Separator2". The first within the zip was the Landscape, the second, in a zip within the zip, was portrait. The one you did for me is the Landscape. Here again is the screenshot.

This background is a modified Manila2d background, Not one of the default SPBMS backgrounds.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk. I'm just really frustrated. I'm not a total NOOB. I've done custom skins for several programs to match everything else on my phone, but this one has me feeling like a total idiot. I know that you can photoshop circles around me and I respect the work that I have seen you do in the S2U2 forum. That's why I asked you for help. I sent you two pictures. Both of them are named "Separator2". The first within the zip was the Landscape, the second, in a zip within the zip, was portrait. The one you did for me is the Landscape. Here again is the screenshot.

So the thread title outlines it:

Vulture's Call Log tweak for launching a third-party Contact Manager (ex: iContact BE) from the Now screen works like a charm, provided you are using a new build of SPB mobile shell and the latest mikiskins.

It fails to work however if you have disabled the samsung dialer skin by editing the registry.

I know that CallLog.exe is part of the Samsung GUI that replaces the original windows call log file, so it would seem that by disabling the Samsung Dialer, this also disables the command that calls CallLog.exe. So...if we are changing/replacing that CallLog.exe file per Vulture's tweak, it makes no difference because some other file is being called that is the windows call log. Make sense?

Now, if we knew WHICH file is being called, we could replace THAT one so that even after the Samsung Dialer has been disabled we would be calling up iContactBE or whatever 3rd party Contact application we want. Any of you guys know what's being called?

AAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! I still get the same thing! I've used photoshop, I've used the program you suggested, I even used the images that you gave me, and it still doesn't work. I don't know what I'm doing wrong! I've drag and dropped the images directly into the dat files, I've unziped and reziped the files, I just don't get it. I'm obviously missing somthing but I just don't know what!

I wish I could do more....maye one of the skinners here can help more. I know if your using them in the Imache background generator they should work, but for inputing them into the existing dat files I could never get the hang of that...I think it has something to do with the locked zipping.

I was wanting to add the "start button" tweak like is in the diamond skins. I've tried comparing the qa_layouts.dat files and made some adjustments but I can't get it to work. I also tried just copying a qa_layout.dat from the diamond skins which of course resulted in a muk'd up alignment.

Is there a documented way to do this with the skins included in the Fast Switch?

I searched for start menu / start button in this thread but couldn't find anything relevant.

I have been playing around with the customizer from imarche and the main problem I am having is that I actually like the default skin and I only want to change the layout. I have a VGA device and would like to remove the bottom bar change to 9 button apps page and 9 button contacts page. I have attempted to do this myself and will continue to do so but I have royally mucked things up so far. Any help would be appreciated.

Firstly I should say that this a great app.

I am trying to change the background using the background changer script.

After several attempts at creating the correct image types I finally succeeded and created my images. However when I run the script, I am able to select my portrait and landscape images but it fails to load the portrait image. Landscape is fine.

I notice and error when the script is running about 'separator something' but the screen changes too quickly for me read the entire warning message.

Can I set something to write the error to a file, to see what is failing?

Any one have any ideas what the problem may be?

How to set only Big Analog Clock on SPB Today Screen ?

SPB Skins 3.1 --> Extra Options --> Customize the Layout --> Layout - Now Screen --> there is only option Double Clock + Big Analog which provides Big Analog Clock as a third clock on today screen.

I don't want two other clocks (digital & small analog) beside Big Analog.

How to remove them, so that it remains only Big Analog Clock ?

As I can see, this code is switching clocks on Left and Right slide. I don't want that...

I want to have only BigAnalog clock and when I slide right on the touch screen -- that it goes to calendar tab, and when I slide left, that it goes to contacts tab.

If someone could edit this .xml code, delete the digital and smallAnalog TAB, and rewrite code:

that on GestR it slides to calendar tab

and

on GestL it slides on contacts tab

However, there is a workaround for the Calendar icon (but only at the moment for ThumbCal.) They work for me with the standard-skins too ;) . And yeah, i know this program from the thumbcal forum, works nicely.

Hi guys, first off, thanks very much for this skin, it makes using my phone a pleasure.

Theres been some nice helpful stuff in here, especially the part about how to get the "star" button to do something useful and also replacing the call log.

I was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to use the skin to take me to a different a different clock/alarm program than the windows one when i click on it on the organiser page?
The windows one isnt finger friendly at all and there is one built into the omnia (possibly due to me having a non standard rom, or it may be samsungs) but its much easier to use.

ok so if we go the contacts screen (the one with the thumbnail pics) and choose a contact, we are taken to another screen with the thumbnail, and buttons for Mobile, Send SMS, Work, Open (for editing), etc....

Choosing 'Send SMS' opens up SMS-Chat as I expect, however it does not pre-populate the message with appropriate recipient; it merely opens up the program and then you must choose the recipient normally. Conversely, iContact DOES open up SMS-Chat with the appropriate recipient when choosing to send a text message. Any way to get SPB Mobile shell to do this? There is obviously a way as this is similar functionality to opening up ThumbCal from SPB MS to the appropriate day, which we thankfully found a solution to.

In addition, we should be able the open up FunContact (or whatever contact Program) to edit the contact details instead of being taken into the Windows mobile interface.

What files can we hijack for these two?

This looks to be a fantastic Mobile Shell Skin but unfortunately it does not work for me at all. The install runs fine, it goes through all the motions but then brings up the Shell and it looks like I only get to see a quarter of the screen. It looks like I loaded a 960x1600 theme instead of 480x800. I downloaded the WVGA version and I ran the WVGA installation script a number of times.

Is this not compatible with version 2.1.4 of Mobile Shell or does it not like the new firmware on the Xperia?

Edit: Just to update this: I reinstalled the R2A ROM, hard reset the device and installed Mobile Shell 2.1.2 and, sadly, it still looks the same...
Edit2: I re-downloaded the same WVGA file from somewhere else and it now seems to work. It looks like some ........ ........ replaced files in a non-WVGA version of the archive!

This has really turned my i780 into a fantastic little gadget. Much more usable than with the default mobile shell skin too.
I wish there were a good gui editor to customize the skins further, but I'm really quite happy the way it is. At least untill mobile shell 3 arrives. :P

One issue though: The calendar entries in the Now-screen stretches outside the screen to the right. They appear to be centered (they are not placed fully to the left), but trails of the screen to the right.

Hey, I've just started using this program on my Omnia - PERFECT man. Awesome job.

I just have a question - I only have 3 icons on the bottom of my now screen (not the pages, but just above) which are my email, sms and call log.

When I have a missed call, my call log icon is replaced with a voicemail icon.

However, I've noticed in all of the screen shots there are 4 icons there, but in the email, sms, call log and a star in most cases.

How do i get 4 icons there? it's frustrating the hell out of me cause with only 3 and them being left justified i feel so unbalanced!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have searched the forums and found several references to the issue of SPB Phone Suite's profile icons being too large for the staus area of the PPC.

I have even found a few "profiles.dat" files containing alternative icons available for download and have installed and tried these.

Still not quite right and I am seeking some help.

I must be missing something and it may simply be related to the different screen resolutions from my old Dopod P800w and my new HTC Touch HD.

On my Dopod the icons in the status bar are nice and compact and display each profiles icon in a different colour. Great!

Why when I install the safe "pofiles.dat" file on my HD are the icons not only bigger but they are different shapes and are black and white?

The icons are not distorted they are just different icons. What's going on?

If you have a set of colour tiny spb phone suite profile icons which work well on the HTC Touch HD could you please share them with me.

SOLUTION TO REMAP SMS AND CALLLOG-BUTTON TO USER DEFINED PROGRAMS

SMS-Button:

Open your favorite registry editor and go to "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\RAI\:MSINBOX" and change the value "1" from "tmail.exe" to the path of the program you wanna launch. And do not forget to set the " " ! For example:

"My Storage\Program Files\VITO\SMS-Chat\SMSChat.exe"

Save and your done, the SMS button on the main screen of spb mobile shell should now launch VITO SMS Chat.

CallLog-Button:

Go to your windows folder on your phone and copy the file CallLog.exe to another directory, just for backup purpose. Open the attached file CallLog.run with any texteditor you have. Change the path inside to the program you wanna open with the CallLog button. No " " this time. Save and copy it with the also attached file CallLog.exe to your windows folder on your phone. Overwrite the existing CallLog.exe, ignore the warnings. Should work now. If not, try a soft reset.

No Solution for calendar yet and i dont use the mail button :D.

Tested on Samsung Omnia with german WM 6.1.
Im not the author of the CallLog.exe. Its based on the run.exe from us1111 from Modaco, full credits to him!

One question: I am using Vito FunContact as my contact manager. A tap on the missed call icon on the SPB Now Screen does indeed open FunContact, but it seems it opens it at whichever page it was left on, not always the call history (missed calls, etc) page. It's not a major problem to flick to the right page, but I wonder if there is a switch that would open the correct page as the app opens? Maybe something like:

Program Files\VITO\FunContact\FunContact.exe -calls

Do you know if these apps support this type of function?

Those items are in the correct order, and that resolves the issue with 'My Menu' not working at all. This isnt the issue we are having.

Firstly, just let me say how brilliant this UI is for Spb. Great work Mikibest.
I do have a couple of questions (please refer to the attached screen shot)
On the "now" screen, behind the clock there are what I think is termed as "curtains", one for the clock face and another for where the calendar would be (I have pointed to them with red arrows).
Is there any way of getting rid of these curtains, and also, dare I say it, getting rid of the clock altogether so all there is on the now screen is the date at the top and the status & shortcut icons at the bottom.
I tried looking through all the settings but I couldn't find any so I think it may be a matter of altering the code.
I haven't the first clue about fiddling with the code (or script, sorry note sure what it's called but I do have a limited knowledge of xml (very limited though)) but I don't mind having a go if anyone could point me in the right direction.
The thing is I love this skin but I also like a very uncluttered now screen.
I do understand that I’m asking for help on a matter that could be very complicated so if I am asking too much then don't worry as I can live with it.

Hi all--

After dl'ing and installing "mortscript.exe", the directions for 3.2 say to run "Install_QVGA.mscr". When I run that, I get the error "Mobile Shell 2.1.2 not found". The TITLE of the 3.2 file is SpbMobileShell2.1.x-QVGA-Skins_Release3.2, so I'm not sure why this isn't working. I'm running SPB MS 2.1.5, Build 3774, and the prog seems to indicate I need to be running 2.1.2...does this make sense to anyone? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks--

i am using one of the skins in this package but where is the symbol for a reminder... when a appointment/task goes off... if i go to my default today screen i see the left softkey saying reminder and i have the bell in the taskbar.. but in spb there is no notification that an alarm went off.....

am i missing something?

I just installed v3.2 and noticed this also. Can there be an icon or something that shows a calendar reminder has gone off (like where the email/sms/missed call icons are)? If you don't happen to hear it (or are in silent mode) then there is no way to see you missed a reminder. Sorry if this was answered - I searched for 'reminder' but this was the only post that came up in this thread. Thanks.

Problem solved !

The problem was that I didn't close SPB Mobile Shell and SPB Watcher from the today screen before installing SPB Mobile Shell Themes v3.2.

So, first, close SPB Mobile Shell and SPB Watcher from the today screen and then install WQVGA themes again.

Everything will work then !

Hi. New user and I am really digging the skins, but I have a few questions.

1. What is the 4th notification icon on the Now Home screen? I understand the others are Email, SMS and phonelog, but the last icon on the right does nothing when I tap on it, so I cannot figure out what it's for.

2. Why does the Now Weather screen have a back arrow instead of the icons like the other Now screens?

3. There is no icon showing up for the "My Menu", yet when I tap on it, it opens. Am I missing something?

4. Why are the "Tools" and "Settings" icons grey when the rest of the "Base" launcher icons are so nice and colorful?

There may be a solution to my problem but I am sorry to ask the same question if it has been answered.

Well my problem is when I press "Weather" and after I updated it and the large Icon still shows "Sun" during my night time. If I click to check the details, it shows "Sun for Morning" and "Cloud covered moon for Night". But on a full size mode it doesn't shows the Night time mode. Maybe with Moon or dark night. Is there any way to fix this problem?

If this is fixed I think my Omnia is flawless with this skin. Thanks in advance guys.

There are few animatied weather icons but the problem is, the newer version of SPB Mobile Shell has a limitation over Flash, that means Animating things using SPB mobile shell is not possible if I'm not mistaken.

The fourth icon should be My Menu. You have to set-up the menu by adding items to in in the settings, but that is what the icon does (as long as you have your initial menu setup like posted in Imache's FAQ page).

Then I did a complete reinstall of everything (hard reset is what it's called, right?) to clear up all my space and to remove all old programs I didn't like.

Now the heart icon does not show up!

That's actually pretty funny because I'm having your exact opposite problem.

My "My Menu" or heart icon is not showing up on my screen. If I press the area where I know the icon is supposed to be, it takes me to the correct screen, but the actual icon is not showing up. I've rebooted the machine many times and changed themes but to no avail.

Does anyone have any ideas what's up?

Check you transfered the whole folder properly on the phone.
Or run the uninstall script -> tranfer the folder again -> install.

- Enter into the folder \SpbMobileShellSkins\Scripts and run the Install_*VGA.mscr script.
- If the problem persists: enter into the Spb Mobile Shell "Advanced" options as you want add a new program item and check the Spb Menu tree. You should see EXACTLY these 11 items, all checked:
0 [x] Organizer
1 [x] Internet
2 [x] Multimedia
3 [x] Tools
4 [x] Programs
5 Settings
6 [x] Messages
7 [x] Games
8 [x] Navigation
9 [x] -must be empty- (Wireless Manager)
10 [x] My Menu
(The folder names should be translated to your language)

If you miss one of them you have to add it manually to the registry key:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Spb Software House 2\Spb Mobile Shell\Menu\Root
(the numbers on the left are the Index values to set )

It still doesnt work. The weather icon still shows in the bottom, but when i flick to the right, it skips that page.


Also, in the spb mobile i see my appointments like when i flick my finger to the right and go to the calendar page and underneath my clock, but when I click on them or go to my calendar in windows, .it shows that I have no appointments...uhh help??:confused:

Lastly when i go to my calendar, and try the top to bottom swipe, i dont see all the other windows that i can choose from like the video shown?

I missed the part where all the icons in the menu list had to be checked. I had unchecked "Games" and "Navigation" as they were empty.

On a side note, I tried opening the dat file for the "Base" icons as I wanted to colorize the "Tools" and "Settings" icons, but the file was password protected. Does anyone know what the password is?

it's a list of the most recently used applications.

After dl'ing and installing "mortscript.exe", the directions for 3.2 say to run "Install_QVGA.mscr". When I run that, I get the error "Mobile Shell 2.1.2 not found". The TITLE of the 3.2 file is SpbMobileShell2.1.x-QVGA-Skins_Release3.2, so I'm not sure why this isn't working. I'm running SPB MS 2.1.5, Build 3774, and the prog seems to indicate I need to be running 2.1.2...does this make sense to anyone? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks--

After running Mortscript, I try to run the Install_WQVGA but I get the following message:

"The file 'Install_WQVGA' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of the components cannot be found..."

Any ideas on how to get this to run? I've copied the folder to my device in /MyStorage

I installed SPB 2.1.5 fresh, then installed the iMarch skins. I have it on another phone too.

Now, on this new phone, I installed a default skin, and I liked how on the NOW page at the top the indicators for BlueTooth, Wireless, etc, were there, and I could click that from there to change them. I don't have that on my other phone...it's on the programs page as an icon there.

Anyway, on this new phone, I went through the options to add the MRU page to the program folder, and the option to select blue tooth etc disappeared from the NOW screen and moved to the programs page.

So I went back and got rid of the MRU page, and that didn'dt help. So I thought "I'll uninstall iMarch and reinstall". To my surprise, the uninstall removed all the files, but left the iMarch theme active. So I recopied the zip over and expanded it again and reinstalled.

Now iMarch won't come up at all. When I click the soft key on the Today screen to bring up NOW, nothing happens. So I uninstalled SPB and reinstalled it, and I can get it up, but if I apply iMarch, nothing happens again.


Any suggestions. (Seems I've made a mess here).

Well, not having all that much done, I just did a hard reset and started over. Got it going.

One thing I have found out is that if I turn off any menu item, then that one that shows on the front page goes away. It seems that the 9th item in the list gets put at the top of the front page. Strange. I'd think it would be the 10th.

The other thing I need to figure out is why the My Menus has no icon.

I finally figured out that the My Menu needs to be at the Bottom of the list of icons, and that it becomes the rightmost tab on the Now screen. That's actually pretty good. I couldn't find any documentation telling about that, but what got me headed down that direction was threads earlier in here about having to have your folders for the program tab in a certain order.

Now, an intersting thing I'd like to do is to create shortcuts inside that to change profiles in Phone Alarm, and have the icon that opens that change depending on what profile I have. It looks like it'll take a lot of research on my part to figure that out, but I'm thinking it is possible.

Mate, you have to extract the files onto your storage card!!!!! You cant open the files once their still in the rar format, you must extract them. Use ZIP Mobile or Rar mobile :)

If you mean a case for my Omnia, I did not wind up getting one. I got a nice billfold one off ebay that has a card slot on one side. I keep a paperclip in it for the emergensy reset (hardly ever use it), and RESCO has proven to be a great finger-friendly keyboard, PocketCM Keyboard has a few great skins for the Omnia as well and it is free (I switch back and forth depending on my mood).

I have actually become more stylus-free than I thought I would, if you need any tips, or help with the Omnia, feel free to IM me (or just post here if it is Shell/Shell theme related)!!

I have tried using this tonight with both versions 2.1.2 and 2.1.5 of Spb Mobile Shell. Both times that I've gone to run Install_WVGA.mscr, it has said "Cannot find Spb Mobile Shell version 2.1.2". I'm totally stumped. The folder with the scripts is on my memory card, and Spb Mobile Shell is installed on my phone and not the card. Could this be one problem?

This is my first post here. As somebody has said here before. The only way of installing the skins is to extract the files. Here is guide for people like me. Put the folder into your memory card. Go to file explorer and locate the folder spbmobileShell. Double click on it and another window showing spbMobileshell.will open. On the left bottom of the phone hit the expand button. Select the spbMobileShellSkins folder and hit the expand button again. You will see 4 folders. Hit the Scripts folder followed the expand. Scroll down to find rar.exe. Click on that. You will see a window open saying the program being from unknown source and blah blah.... Hit yes. You will various options appear at the bottom of the screen like file tools, a rar icon etc n etc. and a folder icon. click on the folder icon and locate the spbMobileShellSkins folder. Open it and from the file tools an the extreme bottom left select all. Once selected again from the file tools menu hit extract. Hit will ask you where you want to save the extracted folder. Select My Storage. and hit ok. Now it will extract all the rar filed into the new folder. Once done go back to the folder just unzipped (which should be on your storage card and follow the instructions given else where on this thread to install the skin.

So the bottom line, you have to extract all the files in order to install them.

Ok here is my problem now. I could successfully install the skins and as soon as I finish installing it and do soft reset, my SPB manu on the today screen gets non functional. I can not get into the contact, calendar and the other screens i used to with SPB only. So is there anything I need to do different? I want to keep my phone the way it was without the skins but this time only use a different layout (from the spb skins.

Any help would be appreciated.

Problem solved: Figured out that I was using the skins not meant for Omnia. Installed the right one and its working great.

I just installed Mobile Shell 3.0 (trial) and I would think the code is so different with all the widgets and stuff that this wouldn't work on it without revision. I haven't tested it yet. Still not sure if I'm going to upgrade yet, but I do like it a lot.

i am using one of the skins in this package but where is the symbol for a reminder... when a appointment/task goes off... if i go to my default today screen i see the left softkey saying reminder and i have the bell in the taskbar.. but in spb there is no notification that an alarm went off.....

I just installed v3.2 and noticed this also. Can there be an icon or something that shows a calendar reminder has gone off (like where the email/sms/missed call icons are)? If you don't happen to hear it (or are in silent mode) then there is no way to see you missed a reminder. Sorry if this was answered - I searched for 'reminder' but this was the only post that came up in this thread. Thanks.

Fantastic. I can't wait. I have been using v215 with the skin changer and I love it. I tried spb ms 3 but went back to 215 because I love my TouchPRO white clock and theme and the ability to change things on the fly.

The Lifestyle wallpaper doesn't change when i change themes.
Can i make Favorites the default screen when clicking on the lifestyle launcher button
Digital Clock styles don't seem to work on the lifestyle screen
There are 2 Professional home screen on the carousel - one has the skins settings ( digital clock skins work ) the other has the normal skin settings

Works and looks great otherwise.

1. go to the Windows\AutoRun folder and remove the SpbMSSkins.lnk file
2. soft reset the device
3. go to your Storage card and remove the SpbMobileShellSkins folder

I know we can select our own background for the Lifestyle Home screen, but would it not be more logical to have this selected automatically and be "themed" with the background (ie the same) for the rest of the screens? If it is not too much work in the interim, could your backgrounds be made available for us to load ourselves for the Lifestyle Home screens?

You can extract them from the qa_custombkg.dat files (rename as qa_custombkg.zip) using the usual password to unzip it

To remove panel from the carousel you can edit the registry and cut it from the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Spb Software House 2\Spb Mobile Shell\NowScreen\Panels (the "12" folder is the 3rd lock screen )

It should open the My Menu list with favorites links

You can see circled numbers when you receive messages or calls ( when the number is greater than zero)

If you feel the application too slow you can go back to the original skins coping all .dat file from the Original/Q folder into the \Program File\Spb Mobile Shell folder on the device.

It installs the 3 leds to show the WiFi / BlueTooh and Phone status in the customized lockscreen page (you can access it with the carousel)

I have extracted the image but it's the 240x400 size - what I expected. But what do you recommend as the procedure to enlarge it to the 960x748 size that is suggested by SPB for the Lifestyle Home background. Or do you have another source image available that is bigger? I am using the Blue-Ray skin.

Omega, I had same problem, you need to go in your caroussel view and find the NEW Professional homepage. You have 3 homepage now..

2 professional, and 1 lifstyle. The clock is for the professional page only.

okay, sorry for the double post but...I removed this and got my MS3 back to normal, deleted the file for this program, now when I reset it keeps looking for ScanStatus.mscr which is no longer there. How do I get rid of this error, do I delete a reference in the registry, and if so where?

edit: nevermind found a link in \windows\startup and removed it, problem solved.

First let me say I only recently learned of this set of tools, and installed on 2.15, and love it. Very nice.

Re: V4, I saw mention of 'screenshots' earlier, but the only one I see is 1, which is of analog clock and a grasslike background. So, question on functionality with this, compared to installing on MS2.15.

When installing on 2.15, you can select from different icons; different number of pages, etc. There are several pages of custom setup questions.

Does this have that same type of customization? Or is it just allowing for changing backgrounds?

I have read here about the 'blue icon' to load the My Shortcuts folder, but don't see that on the 1 screen shot on the home page for downloading.

Given that uninstall requires a reinstall of MS3, and that I have made a lot of changes already, I'm a bit hesitant as of this moment to install. In fact, I'm having a couple issues with MS3 itself that makes me consider removing for a while.

You must have the Auto run or Auto start folder into the Windows main folder in the device. Maybe the name is different if you don't use the english langauge.

1) In the communication settings there is only a GPRS off, no GPRS on and every time I click on it it says "GPRS is already off", something missing?
2) Is there a way to include a "3G" on/off as well?
3) I like the communication status bar on top of the add. panel, is it possible to add more info (or to include here info from other tools like homescreen plusplus?

NOOOO - please don't stop. I agree - why complain when you are doing this FOR FREE! You are doing better support than some software packages that you have to pay to get. I don't know why they are so negative on something you are not charging them for.

Having tinkered a tiny bit with the files behind SPB MS it is a pain and time consuming. To have scripts that do this for us is very good indeed. Perhaps some people feel they do not provide the ideal look / feel for them - well it strikes me that we may all want something slightly different and individual.

Personally I think the benefits and flexibility the skins bring far out way any small compromises they don't address.

OK. Realised that MS3 will not reinstall after uninstalling as it needs at least 10mb in device memory. Sorry.

Saw your uninstall script, maybe you can include how to remove mortscript if the user wants to completely remove everything. Like deleting mortscript.lnk in Windows\StartUp, soft-reset, then remove mortscript.exe

EDIT: The picture background "tears" when finger scrolling, maybe you can add an option to restore the original MS3 theme color background which does not "tear"

This is the part of uninstall code to remove the StatusScan auto launcher

Do have one question though, I now have a Games & Navigation icons in the app section, which is very cool. They are empty though. I have downloaded the SPB menu editor so I can add shortcuts to them but when I click on them from the editor all the options are grayed out? I am unable to add links or menu items like I can on all the others. I also cannot Edit, remove, or change menu options for these two new shortcuts.

Any ideas?

To add links inside the Games and Navigation menus just enter (click over the relative icons) and tap on the right bottom button.
