I get an error similar to

the file *nowscreen* can not opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.

the correct chosen skin will come up though, but only after a soft reset.

otherwise the ability to change skins quickly and their assortment is nice.

UPDATE

For some reason the nowscreen link in my registry was "broken". I pointed it to the correct settings again and everything works fine.. without soft resetting.

It makes it very easy to set up new themes by simply editing the .mscr. I've also changed some of the weather graphics around with no issues.

I believe you only download the path and not the full version. Please download the full version which in Italian then download the English path and overwrite those files in the full version with the files in the patch. Remove the file SpbMobileShell.txt inside \SpbMobileShellSkins\Scripts. Hope that help

Ok, I'm having tons of trouble installing this. The main problem at the moment seems to be that mortscript.exe in the scripts folder is showing as a FOLDER, not an executable. Thus, I cannot complete the installation.

Anyone else having this problem? I've re-downloaded several times, all with the same result.

Ok, fixed this by downloading mortscript from the official site. Still, someone might want to check this. :) Great program!

I love this program. I am having a backlight issue with it, though. Even though all of my backlight settings are set to never turn the backlight off, every time I end a call, the backlight dims and stays dim until I start another call or program. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Does anyone else have this problem?

I don't think this is a problem of Spb MS, try to check your display configuration into the Windows Settings.

All of my settings are correct; this issue has only occured with this program. Has anyone else experienced this?:confused::confused::confused:

- or (suggested) get the update file from the release 1.2

I think is possible from the 2.1.2 version (if the layouts include the new plug-ins). Not available in my new release 1.3.

I had no trouble with the install - read the instructions a few times and its pretty simple. Just make sure you change the option script to point to your memory card if you install it there ( its a big 24mb+)

My only issue are:-

1. I lost my "my menu" icon which was replaced by a "navigation" icon

2. I prefer a large page of 9 icons but I tired a layout ql layout file from greatball diamond 1.2 work and it seems to work fine on the kryo skins but you have to reboot for it to work and it will need to be done everytime you change a skin

Overall this is a must have and a superb bit of programing many thanks:)

Sure it's possible.... create another folder inside the SpbMobileShellSkins and put your .dat file into it. After that, make a copy of Original.mscr, and rename it with the name of your skin (ie. "MySkin"). Edit the script changing only the paths and the parameter where you see the word "Original", replace it with "MySkin". it's all...... after you run the script for the first time you'll find a new item "MySkin" inside the Spb Skins folder, to change to your skin.

1.Yes, my menu will be truncated by the install script. You can create a menu inside one of the other 9 launcher items.

2. create a full custom folder as i've suggested to jadesdan in the previous post.

I added the OSX skin and it works good (just don't have the white top bar) and i tryied to add the greatbal Omnia theme but i don't have the down icons maybe cause of the différent layout ?

I installed version 1.3 QVGA last night for my HTC TOUCH CROUISE (Polaris).

It works perfectly, it's really simple to use.

Congratulations and thank you, what happiness no longer make soft-reset, and it's fun to change the skin simplement!

Where did you find a 9 icons contacts page? Usually this page contains 16 icons. I don't think to apply this variant to the new releases, there are too variables to set... it will be too difficult to maitain all versions. Sorry :(

I'm sure you already know how cool this is. You have no idea how happy it makes me to have the functionality of Phonatic's theme, the elegance of mtkate's WM7 theme and the pizzaz of Greatball's Omnia theme all available at the touch of a button. Truley a crowning jewel in the Mobile Shell world. It sounds like your going to have a lot or custom requests for different icons and layouts and everything else (I'm know Greatball and Mtkates know what you're going through) that I'm afraid might hinder your development of this great tool. I say, focus on the features and functions, because you'll never make everybody happy with one (or two or five) skins. One thing I would like to see is a function that remembers individual settings (i.e. if I like the Classic Analog of one theme but the Professional layout of another, that the script would automatically set that when I change themes). Things like this would make a great thing even better, but you have already improved or phones (and lives) so much that we cant complain. So thank you again and Keep it up!

P.S. One of the bugs I've found is that when ever I swich themes, it creates a new selection in the SPB skins menu. Right now I have 4 'original' selections, and two or three of everything else. I know I can go into SPB Cutomize Menu and remove these, but I't a pin to do it every time. Just thought you should know! Thanks!

This is a really fantastic application! Thanks much.

A couple things I noticed:
1. In the Luna themes, when you tap & hold in the MRU page, the menu that pops up has a black background and black text, making it nearly impossible to read.

2. Also in the Luma themes, if you don't have a picture for someone in the contact pages you often end up with a white font and a white background, making it very difficult to read the contact.

These are two very minor things. Not sure there's any fix for them or if it's baked into MS 2.1.2

I agree though, can animated gif files be used for the weather? Then we could have animated weather conditions. I'd like to be able to see all of the icons along the top that you can see when you're in WM6 Today screen. ie. connected to a bluetooth device, etc.

I have installed on my Omnia works perfectly.

I am trying to do a custom theme as I like the iphone buttons on the electric blue background. I also prefer large signal and battery indicators (see top bar).

I am wondering if you could help me add MRUs to the Now page the same as the ones you have on the Programs page.

I have tried but they do not appear.

I have attached a sample screen I would like and the layout.dat file where I have tried to add the MRUs.

Yes.... you can choose only from 5 languages ENG, FRA, ITA , GER, SPA. Please post your SpbMobileShell.txt in dutch language (you can find it into the \Program Files\Spb Mobile Shell folder), i can add it as new language. If you have also the qa_weatherdescription.dat file in your language post it too.

Same setup here, and it works just fine... did you run the script after copying over the files, as per the instructions?"Extract the .zip file into the device memory where you have installed the previous release 1.2 (for example "\My Storage"), overwriting existing files.
Execute the script named "Install_*QVGA.mscr" using "File Explorer" from folder ..\SpbMobileShellSkins\Scripts."

The only problem I have (not a problem with the skins) is that I would like to display the "now" page at startup.

I have installed on my Omnia works perfectly.

I am trying to do a custom theme as I like the iphone buttons on the electric blue background. I also prefer large signal and battery indicators (see top bar).

I am wondering if you could help me add MRUs to the Now page the same as the ones you have on the Programs page.

I have tried but they do not appear.

I have attached a sample screen I would like and the layout.dat file where I have tried to add the MRUs.

"My Menu" is included into the now screen, while "Navigation" into the Programs page. They are different.

This is the index entries:
0...6 the standard Spb Items, 7: games, 8: navigation,
9: wireless (on/off switches) , 10: my menu (heart icon).
0-8 (9 buttons) are displayed into the program page
9-10 into the now screen page (without icons).

Is not possible now, with release 1.4 (you can only remove the icon, but not center the others) ..... go back to the release 1.3 or edit by yourself the qa_layout.dat file ( LockScreen*.xml )
If you want to change the icon look, you can change the Favorites.bmp file into qa_battery_small.dat.

I have had the same problem, then upgraded Spb Mobile Shell to 2.1.2. (as stated on the theme omepage) and now clicking the operator logo shows the new wireless screen.

You have some problems with menu item indexes; Running Install_QVGA should set the correct values; otherwise check them manually:

Thanks for the index info, that did the trick for me. I have one remark about the 1.4 release, its about the favorites icon. The hart icon looks a bit lost. I think something like the HTC button style windows flag icon for programs is a better match with the other icons. I also have one request, can you make the number indicators of the status icons in a contrasting color, like the ones in the blue ray style?

Unfortunately, running the script has no effect on the order of the menus - I tried it several times and also on a fresh installed Spb Mobile Shell (at least with the WQVGA install script)...

Maybe you could add the hint re the order of menus on your website or on the first post of this thread.

Miki would you be gracious enough, to have an option for displaying due task in the home screen (not just upcoming appointments).

Its the only thing missing for me.

Also a suggestion for v1.5, the wireless manager you have included always pops up a script msg after it completes the task like "phone switched off" and we have to click "ok". I think this is completely unneeded. Could you remove the msg?

It's strange, you should see the 3 status icons aligned with the MyMenu button on the right. If the MyMenu icon is placed over the Callerlist icon, somenthing on the layer is wrong, try to change a skin or select another layout.

I've installed (clean install SPB MS2.12 and then yours) the app. The appearance was all OK but the wire menu function. when I tried to turn on BT, the phone just vibrated but nothing happen to my BT (still off) and the same thing for phone and wifi. Thanks a lot for your revolution program and your creativeness.
I've installed (clean install SPB MS2.12 and then yours) the app. The appearance was all OK but the wire menu function. when I tried to turn on BT, the phone just vibrated but nothing happen to my BT (still off) and the same thing for phone and wifi. I put the whole folder in SD card while MS installed in main memory. Pls help me work out. Thanks a lot.

Miki would you be gracious enough, to have an option for displaying due task in the home screen (not just upcoming appointments).

Its the only thing missing for me.

Also a suggestion for v1.5, the wireless manager you have included always pops up a script msg after it completes the task like "phone switched off" and we have to click "ok". I think this is completely unneeded. Could you remove the msg?

It's strange, you should see the 3 status icons aligned with the MyMenu button on the right. If the MyMenu icon is placed over the Callerlist icon, somenthing on the layer is wrong, try to change a skin or select another layout.

Could I ask a favour to be considered for your next revision? It would be great to have an icon to quickly access the screen brightness on the Now screen or even better, on the top bar. Sometimes when moving from darker areas to sunlight outdoors, it's a great struggle to read what's on the screen.

Is not possible now, with release 1.4 (you can only remove the icon, but not center the others) ..... go back to the release 1.3 or edit by yourself the qa_layout.dat file ( LockScreen*.xml )
If you want to change the icon look, you can change the Favorites.bmp file into qa_battery_small.dat.

Ah , I was already searching for the right xml to change the layout.
Thing is: I prefer the 1.3 layout but want to have the added functionality of the 1.4 release (bluetooth, wifi shortcuts when clicking on the operator logo)

Thanks for the index info, that did the trick for me. I have one remark about the 1.4 release, its about the favorites icon. The hart icon looks a bit lost. I think something like the HTC button style windows flag icon for programs is a better match with the other icons. I also have one request, can you make the number indicators of the status icons in a contrasting color, like the ones in the blue ray style?

With new new upgrade, you will be able to set also the Status icon style for each theme.

Blimey you have found yet another thing we can customise, at this rate it will be making me cup of tea and controling my TV by version 1.6!
Version 1.4 is working great on my Touch, anyone who is having trouble with mucked up icons needs to try the fix listed a few pages back by reordering the menus- it really does work.

If you do find a way of adding a brightness switch can it be made so you cant lower it to make the screen invisible - that can get annoying as its very hard to get the screen visible again as you cant see anything! Making it work from half brightness and upwards would work best.

I know I keep on about it but is it possible to have an option for a single page of 9 or 12 contacts in next release? Keep up the good work - I am still amazed at how great this is.

Thanks, MikiBest, you have a great collection. v1.4 worked OK on my Kaiser with MS2.1, just was missing the wireless icon up top. So, an upgrade to MS2.1.2 was part of the answer. In looking at the code for portrait, you have not put the plugin="Wireless" icon in the potrait section of qa_layouts.dat...it is in the same files in the landscape section(near call to plugin = "m9"). anyway, I added it to Basic and Full +16 to check and that took care of it for me. I love it.

p.s. for those who have been using the original 'ninth icon' hack you can mod the install to not destroy any of your previous selections by commenting out these lines:

You can remove the messages yourself, just edit the script files and add a comment-sign (#) at the Message(...) command at the bottom of the files:

Example: BT-On.mscr

Sorry, but I'm a slow learner. I've read through all the messages and still can't figure some things out.

1. Where is the "Operator" button? EDIT. NEVER MIND! I figured this one out.
2. Must all the Customize Menu items be active for the Favorite button to work? And must they all be in a certain order?

Also, I have found a problem that I don't see addressed in this forum. I have the contacts set to 3 screens with 16 buttons each. If I add a contact to the "Contacts-Personal" screen in position 12, it changes the contact in the "Contacts-VIP" screen, position 12 to exactly the same contact! If I remove either of these entries, it removes it on the other screen. Anyone else have this issue???

The new Kyro Omnia is a killer. One thing you might have over looked tough. If you select the Omnia buttons and status bar (to go with the new skin), in the home screen all look fine except the heart icon, which remains grayish. It looks weird with all the colored icons next to it, could you add a little color to that please (maybe red would look fine, with the Omnia icons as they are green, yellow and blue).

Unfortunally the tab icons are included into the same background .dat file, so they are strictly related to the background you choose. Is not possible to separate this choices. :(

Just noticed something wrong on v1.41 - the drop down menu for phone / wifi / bt works and all seems ok but my phone does not get a signal when I select it via this menu. When I check in the standard conection manager it reports phone as on with no signal. If I turn phone on and off from conection manager then it gets the signal. Its no big deal but thought I should report it. :confused:

Somehow I missed that in the FAQ. The steps are not clear though. I know that the profiles.dat needs to be updated if you are using Phone Suite with custom Mobile Shell skins and have done that before with custom skins, but the steps in the FAQ are not clear on where to get that. It says:

"Extract from the full package the file "profiles.dat" and copy it into the Spb Phone Suite installation dir."

What "Full Package"is this referring to? Profiles.dat does not exist in the download at http://www.imarche.net/omnia/download/SpbMobileShell2.1-QVGA-Skins_Release1.4.zip and I can't find any place at the site to download the full skin releases on the site either.

What "Full Package" does the FAQ refer to?

It would be great to have alarme/apointments notifications icon on NOW page. Perhaps replace Favorits icon by alarme/notification icon. In this release it's impossible to dismiss a notification alarm within the Now page ;)

I too need some help along with mskovrinskie. I have that huge SPEAKER at the top of my shell (phone suite profile). There seems to be no "profiles.dat" in anything other than the phone suite. Is there supposed to be one in shell skin?

ive been playing around with mobile shell and your skins the last days. Because of the unflexibility of Mobile Shell we cant use our own calendars, call logs, sms chat programs cause the buttons on the now screen directly link to the windows mobile programs.
But maybe, with your help, we could find a way to compensate this odd behaviour. Do you think it would be possible to add another line of program icons on the today screen, below the standard ones for mail, sms and calls? Something like the icons on the programs launcher tab above the big icons.

So if theres a new call, sms or whatever we could start our favorite programs right away from the now screen with the buttons we have set there. I think theres enough space above and below the clock to move everything a bit upwards to get the room we would need for those new icons. Your favorites menu on the now screen is a nice idea, but its one click more to do to start my favorite app for sms, phonebook and so on...so thats why im suggesting this.

So what dou you (all) think?

Thanks for the update Mike... this fixed the SPB Phone Suite icon for me, and I love the new little lights that tell me what's on.

One problem, though, is the Wireless Manager that opens from the Carrier/Operator button at the top. I get the full list (BT on, BT off, WIFI on, WIFI off, Phone On, Phone Off), but no matter what I select, the phone vibrates a quick burst but nothing happens. I can select the Bluetooth Off, but it doesn't turn it off.

I am using an HTC Touch...

Thanks again for the fast update, I don't know if its a bug or if its intentional, but the new feature "connections status" is only available under today and programs view/tab. In calendar/weather and pic-contact tab its not there. Also this applies to the ability to click on the top to get to your wireless management page.

I know some ppl asked for the calender to be removed from the front page "now". How ever I am sure other like I need it, its the one page i look at all the time to know whats up, i need my appointments there. Could you make it optional, so the ppl that dont like it can hide it and the ppl that need it wont.

Actually even my appointments are gone from the now screen (only seen in the calendar skin). I thought that was an option for one to select in the SPB Shell menu, professional or classic look.

For the mean time i have to go back to 1.4.1 cause for me the appointments on the now screen is more important than a connection status. In my opinion the "now" screen is supposed to be a summary of important things, for any professional user, the appointments is one of those.

P.S: also staring at the empty space between the time and the icons below (almost 3cm empty) is a waist.
BTW in the screen shot you added for the new version 1.5. You have your appointments listed for the day??? Mine are all missing.

MikBest - latest upgrade is worrying me as you are removing the calendar page and I am sure most people want this page. Gota agree with Oalex's comments. :eek:
All releases prior had it and i think its a change too far - v1.41 is almost perfect for me, all it needed was a few tweeks as follows:-

1. Make the new fav/my menu icon match to the others (as in v1.5)

2. Option for 12 contacts on a single page - any more seems to slow down speed and are to small to see

3. Fix the phone menu issue that stops the phone getting a signal

Greaballs first Diamond version was great but then the second version started to muck about with the lower butons and removed weather and now you seem to be going in the same direction.

For me your program is the best thing to happen for mobile shell but little things can make it unusable for some people so please bring back the calendar in v1.6 and maybe look at the contacts page.:)

I installed 1.5 (deleting 1.4.1) and i can see my calendar in now page. The only problem at the moment is the new spb phone suite icons because the profile is only in white and :

You can't see it using luna skins.
In the last spb phone suite you have some marks to know you are using automatic profile and if you change the icon by another smaller the automatic mark remains in the old position outside the screen.

I also have to agree with Scorpion... please bring back the calendar items on the NOW page... the blank spot actually brings up the calendar if you select it, so it looks like it's working but with no picture or data displayed in the box.

hello

nice work on this new way for fast theme changes

i am attaching a SMALL version of the colored spb phone suite profile icons

this is not my work, i found it long time ago from the PS theme maker (sorry dont recall the author name for proper credit) and i was using it with greatbal themes

it works here good because its colored similar to the original icons but small so it shows on all backgrounds well

I also would like to report that the appointmants are not showing on home main screen (but i am OK with that as i use the calender page anyways).

lastly i have a request: is it possible to have an option to choose witch TAB (bottom bar) icons with different backgrounds?

in order for the following to work, unzip my attached file...place the included 2 files in the "scripts" folder inside "SpbMobileShellSkins" folder

i noticed that going back to spb original theme script had a little bug
it copied all needed files but it would not restart spb shell...needed a soft reset

so i fixed the script file....now it will restart by it self like with other skin switching
i also added a vibration notification when chosen like the other and a confirmation message at the end "original skin restored"

I also had a theme that i been working on fo r a while with a lot of modifications
so in order not to loose my modified theme ....i wrote a new script & called it "my theme"
here are the steps needed to keep you modified theme & fast switch in & out of it:

inside the "SpbMobileShellSkins" folder ...create a new folder and call it "my theme" (note: has to be exactly like that lower case & space in between)

then go to your \program files\ spb mobile shell folder....copy all the qa_ & ql_ files from there to the "my theme" folder that you just created in the previous step

after playing with the skins available ...if you want to go back to your saved theme...go to "my theme" script & click it
it will vibrate, restore it, then give you a confirmation message "your theme restored"

here is my tweaks for the iphone theme

i adjusted the background to be all balck with carbon fiber bottom bar
i also changed the bottom bar icons to match iphone design

here is what you need to do:

unzip the attached file
then copy the 2 included files to: "SpbMobileShellSkins\Kyro320\Backgrounds\iPhone" folder
go to spb tools -->spb skins---> choose "Kyro iphone"

i choose simple layout with glass clocks, iphone icons, multicolor status icons, and blackstorm weather to be like the attached picture

to get the small spb phone suite icons...use the file i attached few posts up to replace the one in your \program files\spb phone suite ... then soft reset

finally go to settings, system, screen...and check enable clear type

For people using Omnia skin , you can use the attached file to have all the skin Omnia looking.

Unzip the file and copy over your 1.5 instalation.

After, select "Omnia" in the weather's icons list when you change your skin.

Hello again

here is another adjustment

i noticed that on "Luna" Bright backgrounds that it is hard to see the details of the calander
also the alarm icon was still white & hard to see as well

so here are the steps to get them to show better:

unzip my attached file
copy the 2 included files to "SpbMobileShellSkins\Luna320" folder
(the main Luna320 & NOT layouts or Background)
go to tools--->spb skins---> chose another (or the same) skin & let spb shell reload
now you will have a dark one like the picture below

I'm having the Dutch version of SPB and I'm using the Kyro HTC skin (on my Kaiser)
Last version (1.5) is installed.

Few "things" I found were:
1. ......."Your new status icons work like a charm. But they are a little bit mispositioned. The ones on the now screen should be about 5 pixels more on the left to match the position on the launcher screen".......
2. the weather-tab containing the blackstorm images.......the descriptions are in Italian now
3. the gaming-icon in the programs tab is called "Wild" > please change this for the Dutch language to "Games" / the navigation-icon can be called "Navigatie" in stead of "Navigation"
4. Maybe add the status (switch on/off) of the data-connection (GPRS...)

And I agree with:
X the calendar on the now screen is definately missing
X "why dont you add the status (wifi/phone/BT) icon on top of all screen"

As you see these are all minor thing compared to the great functionality/use of your program!!!

I detected a bug with my Omnia weather icons. Selecting Omnia weather icons the spb-phone-suite icon is missing.

I think this bug is fixed in v2.

A couple of things:

For those who are having trouble using the SKINs connection manager (which by the way rocks), you need to edit the script files located in \Scripts\Switcher. On the BT-On and BT-Off scripts on line 30 is a SendCR (send carriage return). Delete this line and replace the file on your mobile. It will work now.

Also, Is it possible to have the weather tab display the current weather on the today screen with script editting, or is it built into one of the .dat files?

I must be missing something (or NOT missing something!), since I have what I think is the calendar both on the Now screen and the Calendar screen. What else should be there?

EDIT. Never mind. I figured out what you are all missing. It's not something I miss. I never use the calendar to access future dates; have Pocket Breeze on my Today screen. In fact, if I could I would eliminate the calendar from the Calendar screen completely and add more calendar events. Just my opinion. ;)

The connection status can be visible only for the Now pages and Program/MRU pages. It's intentional. Next release maybe will include this in all pages.

The calendar in the now pages WILL BE OPTIONAL in the future.

To show the appointments on the Now screen with version 1.5 active the option on the Spb Mobile Shell settings (for the Classic view)

1.The calendar will be optional for the new release upgrade 1.5.1, so you can have the fav icon match to the others.
2.I don't know if I'll add this other layout.
3.I don't have this problem, describe it and when it happens.
