Hi There,
seems that manila 2D QVGA is out. You can find roms for other device (trinity, polaris ecc) already included it.
Who will be the first to cook an artemis rom with this stuff?
The race started! ;)
Thank YOu
Bye

I'm totally new on cooking ROMS and I've seen the great work that our friend did on creating the Vanilla ROMS...
I'm thinking about starting to cook my own ROMs and post them here for everyone...
Any suggestions on where I can get the Manila 2D to use on an Artemis ROM?
I would love to start with something this great...

UHM... I don't know where get it, but I've read a lot more and seems that 3d hardware is needed... in that case, no manila 2d for artemis.

I have tried the new cab, but with this version my SPB Now screen doesn't work anymore. When I remove the cab file, SPB Now works again.

check this section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=260
Its getting bigger and bigger though that package and it will make your device kinda slowish as it is now.
The keyboard is nice though from it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426281. I noticed some performance lag with the other keypad that was made with the diamond as base.

What language was it programmed with?

If so, we should try to work on that...
BTW, anyone knows if Artemis Screen supports 640x480 resolutions?
Zetsumei
16th September 2008, 01:47 AM
artemis is QVGA meaning quarter VGA (vga = 640x480 / 480x640) in resolution.
So that is 320x280 or 280x320. Applications made for VGA resolution wont work afaik.

Hi,
after my tests:
1st: B&B 5 pretty loaded with stuff + Manilla2D = death, too slow even for snail.
2nd: Oops Black v1 clean + Manilla2D = late reaction, lags, very slow start.
I'll go back to my B&B5 with stuff and wait for complete rom with Manilla2D (instead of HHS). Maybe We can count for now B&B rom with Manilla2D included...who knows.

I'm reading some tutorials on how to cook, I'll try to get Vanilla 4.01 and take HHS out and put Manilla2D in it...Let's see how it will work...
I'll make sure to get everyone updated about it...If anyone want to help me, send me a PM.

if possible just keep manilla2d in that rom by default link all programs to the memory card and give a cab maybe with it with those programs. Since we artemis users dont have that much memory to spare.

What about makin a clean ROM ONLY with Manilla2D and install all the useful stuff in the memory card?
Like....running everything by default from the memory card and only the manilla2d itself in the system memory...
Dunno, just trying to focus on something to get ready to cook...

I would like something like that although i would be nice to have system files in the normal location (os, opal keyboards, manilla 3d, opal volume control, taskmgr, and other stuff that needs to run by default in the os) and all applications in a combined cab for the SD card (Office, MediaPlayers, PictureViewers, Google Maps, InternetBrowsers etc.)

That's another nice point of view, Zetsumei...
I'm studying how to cook a ROM in a nice way here...
Anyone of you got a CLEAN ROM I could use to do the test with the Manilla2D?
I'll open my Vanilla ROM down and check what is in there...
I need to find what to change to free us from HHC and get Manilla2D running smoothly

It's running superslow on my device too. As soon as I enter any other application speed goes up again, but as soon as I get back to TodayScreen it's slow again. After uninstalling my device still needs about 2-3 minutes to start and things lag. Camera doesnt work!

I've tried manilla 2d on touch 4.02 rom, but was really slow and booting-time was much longer.
Updated to YuE v9.1 3.15.20721 ExtraClean WWE rom (flashed with SD-card) and installed manilla 2d.
Works much better, normal rebooting and not so slow.

Man this UI is neat but no where near the actual Diamond UI.
Also pathetically slow! On my ARTE, whenever I get to the music tab, I get WMP opened up with an error, saying cannot play file etc...
With in a day's struggling usage, uninstalled it immediately

I'm now installing it on 10.0 lite. Hope it works a bit. I tried to put back some files from another rom (oops black 1.0) with spb backup, so I hope I didn't mess up the configuration with that. If this is too slow I'll try extra clean

I installed YuE v10 Lite and I'm very happy with my 27MB ProgMem free !
But after installing TL 093 it went down to almost 17MB free after open/closing some Tabs, also Contacts Page hangs.
I tried Manila2D before on Mossis Diamond 1.1 and it also was very Mem-consuming-far from what I can live with.
I now search for an ProgamMemory-friendly UI, without heavy floating or effects. If I could stay with high PM and the fast reaction of YuE v10 that would be nice. Any suggestions for me ? (maybe BS only?)

I flashed to YuE v10.0 3.15.20748 WWE ExtraClean last night, installed Manila 2D 0.07 from this page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398173), and that works great for as far as I can see now. It's a lot faster than Oops black with the home screen.
TomTom 7, iGo 8 work fine, weather is downloaded, Resco File Explorer (7.05) is way faster than on Oops black. I'm customizing some more (get rid of the internet/youtube tab), but this will be my rom for the following time until someone integrates Manila in a rom.

I wrote that I had used TL 0.93 on YuE v.10 Light but for me it wasn't fast and hang on "loading"-state on contacts page. Also ProgramMem went down from 27 to 18 after some minutes !
@Gwystyl
Could you please tell your ProgMem after SoftReset ?
Did you install ALL the cabs/otions from that thread ?

Lets dig in my memory, I did it while I was half asleep (at 3 in de morning:(). I followed the guide, but skipped step 11 and 12 (youtube and flash).
Afterwards I added Resco file explorer (approx 1.5 mb), Tomtom 7 (11.4mb) and iG0 8 (6mb).
After a Soft Reset I have about 21,5 mb free according to Oxios Hibernate, 11,8 in the 'remove programs' section. I don't know if that answers your question? If not, please tell me what memory you're looking for (and where I can find it)

Ok so after some playing with artemis diamondish 6.1 kitchen i managed to cook a rom (after trying the cab install and it being very very sloooooooooooooow) cannot share this rom as it has a lot of presonal info cooked into it (Serial no.s etc) but i found it that by cooking it into the rom it is at least twice as fast and is useable, please note that to cook it you have to remove quite a few Mb from the OEM folder in the kitchen as it is a large package to install, also a lot of files are duplicated in this package but it is easy enough to sort out with the kitchen.
if i get half a chance, maybe next week as i should have a little time at work i will recook without my personal stuff for all to try.

I'm looking forward to it. Which rom do you use as a base? The YuE 10.0 ultraclean is by far the fastest and lightest one around, so I hope you use that one. I don't have a clue about building a rom myself, but I will try to look into it if I find some time next week. I don't know if you can use another rom than diamondish with that kitchen?

I use this rom because i am new to cooking and i can't seem to get any of the kitchens to extract any rom cleanley into the oem and sys folders if any chefs out there could take the diamondish kitchen and replace and remove the nessassary files to make the kitchen based on the Yue 10.0 rom i will have a go with that but i personaly think the diamondish 19965 rom if fairly quick but i am willing to change and try YuE 10.0

I installed YuE Extra clean rom, which was fast & stable, following to which I installed the Manila 2D this resulted in heavy battery drain, while installing, while uninstalling and while every reset/restart. I believe it is the 2D and not the YuE rom that was causing this, anyone else facing similar problem.
Thanks in anticipation

Yes, you have to use SD-card flash (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_SD_Card_Flashing) (As Thormdac (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2643024&postcount=41) said in the previous page)
