I can't take any credit for this, I just followed the instructions. After trying hundreds of "fixes" I was skeptical, but this is the one that works. If you have a custom rom and are getting substandard GPS fixes. This WILL work for you on the Verizon XV6900. It is a must! 8 satellites in my office on a cloudy day. LOCKED within 5-10 seconds.

So you are saying the XV6800 fix will work on the xv6900? I am not doubting you just wanting to make double sure before I try it. Thanks

The title of the thread and wiki entry should answer that question.

Does anyone know why the ##3424 doesn't work on the 6900 with a custom ROM?

Most likely because you have a skinned phone app, most of them will break the ##codes. You should be able to just go ahead into the windows directory and launch dmrouter.exe

Do the Verizon 6.1 update and then do the Vahalla GPS .cab
I ran both and had it all done in 10 minutes.
Have VZW 6.1 , Rev A and fast gps locks !!!!!
The Valhalla gps cab is over at ppcgeeks.com
Vogue upgrages - Verizon 6.1 update - page 14
post is by neamanracing.
The rom is really fast (data) and really stable.
Getting 6-8 satilite locks in 10 - 15 seconds
on Google maps.:)

do you have unlocked phone and used the "stocked rom" for wm6.1 realeased in the past week but not officially by vzw and htc? I have not unlocked yet but am interested in the stock rom released unofficially this week. I intend to release gps although i dont really need it and i was wondering if i can do this w/o unlocking? thanks.

My phone had stock rom and radio,
all I did was run the update and the
Vahalla gps cab. Had no problems.
If VZW released an update the general
public would not know how to unlock a
phone so the update does it for you.
Lots of info over at ppcgeeks - vouge
updrades - vzw 6.1 update thread ,page 14.

thanks, i havent unlocked my phone and although interested in gps it is not a feature that i have to have but with the stock rom and not unlocking then i can still upgrade to 6.1 and use the valhalla cab to unlock gps. thanks for answering that. i agree about the masses that is why verizon will lock down gps on 6.1 and sell the masses thier nav service. as soon as my contract is up im dumping vzw thier tech hording crap is pissing me off. sprint has done a much better job releasing the tech.

Hi, the first post on this thread had a link to a wiki page, which in turn had a link to a page on cinconet where the valhalla gps fix cab was. That link no longer works!! Anyone know where the file can be found now? Was the poster forced to take it off use???

does this still work? I read on ppcgeeks where several people were complaining that their gps stopped working. I am a noob so please help. I have tried like 10 different things to get this working and nothing has worked. Currently running Kristal v5 rom with 3.37.xx radio. I am going to try to upgrade the radio to 3.42.50 if I can figure out how to do it. Valhalla.cab had no effect on my current setup.
Thanks.

You gotta install the VZW DCD cab and then it'll work

Definitely works. I did this once and the only thing I have to do after flashing is install the Serf Telus aGPS cab.

Hmmm.... I followed the directions carefully (very well written, BTW) but I'm still getting nothing(using GPS Viewer). Could this be because I'm in Montana??? (We do have 'outer space' in Montana.)

Got mine working with the stock Verizon MR2 ROM and radio, never flashed my phone with any other ROM's./radios. Mind you, I am not using any external GPS device, just the phone and google maps. This is what I did:
1) Hard reset, stopped the customizations from running
2) followed these instructions (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=VerizonAGPSFix) for the MR2 ROM but modified a bit here:
3) Step 9: Changed the value in PDE Port to 8888 and Mode=2
4) I soft reset after the registry changes (step 10) and did the rest and it works.

Believe it or not I did search........
I'm just wondering what I can do about this problem. I got the gps to work, but then had to flash back to a stock rom, for different reasons.
Now I want to do the fix again, but whenever I go into the DmRouter, both my PCs say "Generic Serial" found. I've tried re-installing the drivers, but no luck.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Same as above, i have followed all the steps very carefully and mine won't work. Got a stock verizon xv6900 tried valhalla and google and various other gps apps won't get a lock. I tried uninstalling valhalla using the uninstaller and it gives me an error saying it couldn't finish uninstalling it. any ideas?

Just looking for help. I have visited your site for some very useful information in the past. I recently attempted to unlock the GPS on my Verizon XV6900. As a computer technician I thought that I could pull this off, but, I was wrong. Is there a specific link that has all the updated information for unlocking the GPS on a Verizon XV 6900. I have looked at many links, installed numerous .cab files, read many conflicting threads, none of which are newer than 2008. But I still can not get GPS to work. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
