I was just reading a book called "Mythology" by Edith Hamilton and it has been brought to my attention that a lot of the names HTC gives to these devices are derived from mythology (some names are obvious, others not so much). Examples are: HTC Juno, Athena, Hermes, and Artemis. It seemed really interesting to me but the ultimate question is...
Does anybody know why?

Lol. I've noticed that a lot too. But if you think about it, a lot of things' name has been derived from roman or greek influence. I think it's to create an affect. Like (for example) if HTC came out with a phone called the HTC Zeus, I'd probably be expecting the king of all phones.

Mike
This could get silly:D
LOL, i had a huge feeling you'd reply in this topic. That Oedipus one was very clever, i like it :P
I can't find a reason as well so i'm just going with Jimmy's "just cause." I wonder what Peter Chou would come up with as a reason.

Home network is borrowing heavily from AA Milne. My Trinity is a Woozle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woozle), the rest of the network is similarly named, just glad its not overly big as i am running out of names.

I'm in the photo copier business...one of our manufacturers does this for
"new" machines, before they get an official product number.
Black & white machines are named after rivers
Color machines are named after mountains
Why...I have no idea, but it gets to be a pain because every once in a while they will release a firmware update, and give it the river/mountain name instead of the product number, and I get calls from other techs saying which machine does this stupid river/mountain update go to?

greek gods, symbolize power + wisdom, that is probably a message HTC wants to get across to their consumers / competitors, that there phones are the 'gods' of the phone industry.
just my take it on it though :P
