omg - if someone does this I will probably regret it ;)

I have a (almost) 2 year old daughter - and she is alway trying to get a hold of my phone anyway.

It would be great to have something on it she could play with (me holding of course) - so my idea was this:

Display like 6 pictures and assign sounds to them.
Example: farm would be a cow, a pig, a rooster, ... and the corresponding sounds they make
another: family and friends with their own voices stating their names

For occupation in boring places like the doctors or whatever 'waiting-place' this would really be neat.

There would probably be many more ideas for kids - although it might not be to hot of an idea having them play with our Diamonds....

I'm no programmer - but this sounds to me like not too big of a deal right?

Anyone? :D

I've no problems taking this on for you, but you're right about letting your kids loose with your diamond...

What kind of things did you have in mind, like one of those things you get attatched to the side of those kids story books?

Would not take long to generate a simple re-usable interface, with a simple config file for assigning pictures and sounds to little picture boxes.

yeah - that was exactly what I had in mind!
And I am not planing on really 'giving it to her hands' - perhaps if it were to run on different resolution I might give her my charmer (looks like s*** anyway as I dropped it about a zillion times).

thx for posting - was not sure to get an answer since my idea does not include any sensor-functionality ;)

hope to find some spare time tomorrow - I would check for some example pics/sounds

yea i figured this was a start since it does basically what you guys are looking for and it uses flash if you get the ok from the creator you could use a flash decomipler and change the works so instead of accepting text it accepts images because you can add whatever sounds you want
looks like this might be a solution i asked the developer and he said it will load an image so it just takes the user playin around with it to get it the way they want it to be

Bubble Breaker and Teeter work great for my 7 year old twins!

I'm just gonna go have some tea, and feed the dogs, then i'll start on this little project for you. I should be able to make it simple enough to modify, by restricting the config to a single file.

It will most likely have 6 buttons taking up the whole of the screen, which could be mapped to different images and sounds (Any more, and they'd be hard for little fingers to see and press, especially on non-VGA screens). For example:

Cow,./Farm/Cow.png,./Farm/Cow.wav
Chicken,./Farm/Chicken.png,./Farm/Chicken.wav

Hopefully it should be reasonably simple to get the structure in such a way that you could make a new folder for a theme, which had the ini file, along with a collection of sounds and pictures.

Any objections to this kind of layout before I begin coding (In about 30 mins)?

Nope that sounds fine to me, just wish i could stuff like this myself instead of waiting for other people doing for me...

It's quite alright, gives me something to bored, coz i'm bored out of my tiny mind...

Here you go (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428053)

That should do the job for yu, although it was built quickly. If you need it to do more, than ask, but that does all you originally wanted. Instructions are on the page.
