Sorry if this has been answered before, but is there anyway to load an application while it is rotated to the orientation of the phone. I have the Topaz with TEss 1.6, Rhodium Dialer and the latest version of Gyrator installed. Whenever I have the phone in landscape mode and load an app, it always loads in portrait and I either have to shake the phone or rotate it to portrait and back in order to make the app landscape. Also, the dialer will load in landscape and then go to portrait and stay there until I shake it back. Any help is appreciated, probably a very noob question b/c this app seems pretty powerful and capable of doing what I need but I'm still unable to figure it out. Thanks in advance.

hi,
that 's a great soft which is perfect.
In fact, the only thing to improve is how to prevent Manila (which is not very nice in landscape) from rotating. By default it is requested that MANILA shall not rotate but sometimes it does. When you click the taskselector (top right) manila remain in back ground but the window class AATL:12c0510 is active so the screen rotates. Add it into the exception list and that's it!

It works great for all SPB pages except the MAIN PAGE.
The Main Page of SPB Mobile shell 3 works with the keyboard pulled out, but not with Gyrator2
All other TP2 displays work perfect.

I promise to donate when SPB Mobie shell3 main page problem is solved.

Can any Gyrator Guru check this out please?
thanks

I actually prefer not having the main SPB screen change orientation with Gyrator, as it used to shift my homescreen a couple of times when I switched my phone on after pulling it out of my case.

One question that I have not been able to find on the website or this forum....

1. Does gyrator 2 stop polling when the screen is turned off (ie by clicking the power button) ? I hope it does, as it should lead to some battery savings.

OK...126 pages....I will be here all year.... ;)

I would like to turn off ALL rotations except for apps set-up specifically for rotation.

Such as messaging, email, browser, Google maps and TomTom. Everything else I want to keep in Portrait mode when phone is locked or unlocked.

How to set this in Gyrator?

Well, in my case the Gyrator2 hangs up. It works for a while, then it hangs up in the "Indeterminate" position (thus not rotating the APPs he should). You need to close it, then restart, then it works for a while and then hangs up again after 20-30 minutes, always in the "Indeterminate" position. When it is hanged up, the GUI works as normal. You can enter options, add events and such. It just doesn't rotate stuff.

Hi Guys,

First of all, Gyrator is a great job. I use it daily (possibly hourly :D) on my HTC Touch HD and it is very convenient to manage rotation.

However, using Tomtom 7, I found Gyrator was at origin of an issue.
This issue also applies on any application.

By default, Tomtom launches on portrait or landscape.
When launched, it uses the whole screen for its display, and shows important data at top of screen.

If Gyrator rotates the screen, once done, the WM6 taskbar is displayed again over TT screen, hiding the important data. Somehow, possibly Gyrator removes the TT application "exclusive front-end display" status.

Cant tell much more because I am not skilled enough with WM6, but may be it is easy to correct so Gyrator does not change the screen priority of used applications ?

Thanks in advance

This kind of question has been asked before, but I've no idea when, and it's probably long gone amongst the mass of replies now...

I use Microsoft's API to rotate the screen, so unfortunately, it's Windows that's managing the rotation, not gyrator, and you're at it's mercy when it comes to what happens to the task bars I'm afraid. All I can suggest is disabling rotation to anything other than landscape when TomTom is running to prevent the problem from ocurring in the first place.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help...

For the case it may not run with explorer try total commander

Hi and thanks very much for this excellent program. I have been using for a couple of months now and everything works great on my HD except for the HTC album.

No matter what configuration I try I can’t seem to stop the screen rotating when viewing a movie file in HTC Album. I have converted some movie files to mp4 file using Encoder (another excellent program) and then go to view them with Album. When the file starts (and I am holding the device in portrait) the movie starts full screen and in landscape, when rotating the device to view in landscape the movie rotates to portrait  I have tried lots of different settings including matching the ones that are currently used to disable manilla, opera etc but with no success.

Apologies if this has already been answered but I have gone through these pages and searched but still I can’t seem to get the configuration right. Please can anyone help?

Thanks in advance

I've created a 'today screen' event that should only rotate when it's not at portrait. ie If today screen is as normal it will do nothing but if after closing something else you come back to the today screen and it is landscape it will let the screen rotate back to normal when you straighten the device back to portrait. I have two issues,
1/ Portrait and Landscape seem to be mixed up, I have to have landscape unticked to achieve the above.
1/ All works fine except that it continues to allow the today screen to go to reverse portrait!
I thought I could get round this by deleting every event (inluding the rotate all option) and only putting what I want in but it still rotates to reverse portrait if you either tip phone on it's end or carry on rotating past landscape towards reverse portrait. Any ideas?

So ever since installing gyrator I noticed my phone was hanging up on phone calls, accepting call waiting without me clicking anything... I suspect what is happening is that every time I put the phone to my ear, it rotates to landscape, which happens to put several buttons right next to my year. This then causes the phone to randomly end calls or accept call waiting without my attempting to do so...

For the life of me I cannot figure out how to disable the rotation for the phone app.

I tried creating a new event, associated it with the phone app, selected landscape orientation, then made sure for action all were unchecked... Am I missing something? Orientation is enabled for the event and it says 1 next to it.

is there any version for the touch pro2 ?

The latest version runs on my touch pro 2, with a few issues that I was fuming about in the previous post. I did figure out how to fix them.

1. there is a default action to hang up the phone when it is turned up side down. The TP2 has a built in mechanism that turning it up side down is used ot activate the new dual mic speakerphone. Hence, if you don't delete that rule, every time you turn it over to use the speakerphone, it gyrator will hang up your call!

2. There is a another default action to answer a call for you when in portrait mode. This wreaks havoc with call waiting. If I get a second call, the TP2 reactivates the screen, assuming you may want to look at it. This triggers this action to answer the call automatically. Disabling that rule helps a lot.

3. I would also recommend adding a new rule to exclude rotating the dialer. When it goes landscape, it puts many buttons near your ear. If you are holding it tightly between your chin and shoulder (no hands), your ear can hit the hangup button.

I've never used a Rhodium before, so i've got no way of knowing what it does and doens't support hardware wise, so I had no idea it would cause so many problems for you. It was designed for a Diamond afterall...

All I can suggest, is making your own rules file that best fits the device you have and IM it to me. I'll add it to the site as a suggested download. If other people want to make rules lists for their phones, I can also add them.

I don't see any updates happening to the program for a while, for as far as i'm concerned, there's not actually any faults with it. the only issues now are with the library not passing the correct status of the hardware to the program. If anyone knows of a more recent library, then i'll hapilly integrate it into Gyrator, and make a new release.

I am trying to set Gyrator 2 to do the following:
(I am running EnergyROM WM 6.5)

When Phone window is active : NO ROTATION (for both Phone main window and when I receive an incoming call)

When in SMS/email window: I wish to enable portrait and landscape mode

The problem is the Incoming Call is a DIALOG window class
and when you write a SMS it is ALSO a DIALOG window...so both share the same window class...

So I cannot have my desidered behavior: either both phone and SMS are set NOT TO ROTATE or both ROTATE...

My question: is there a way to set my desired behaviour? How to do?

Thanks

in the revison history is says
"New options have been included, one to turn off the device when it is placed face down, and another to keep the device awake, when it is not flat on a table. This will be useful for when you are waiting for something to happen, and you don't want to keep having to touch the screen, or bress a button. As soon as the device is placed on a flat surface, it will then continue to power down as usual."

is there a way to turn the device ON when you turn it faceup?
I can turn it off when I put it face down.. but I just want the screen to go blank, and then trun on again when the device is faceup

Currently, S2u2 is installed, and I have it set to NOT turn on with blank screen, and I have Gyrator set to turn screen off when face down.
no when I turn it faceup, I have to push the power button to get the screen, and s2u2 has locked the device..

This would be so awesome if it simplly turned off the backlight when facedown, and turned the backlight back on when faceup.

thanks!

Hi!

I'm giving this very nice application a spin on my HTC HD2 and so far it works like a charm !

I'm only experiencing an issue with the fact that the HD2 has no stylus, is there any other way to help Gyrator learn an application Class ?

I'd like to create a rule for Mobipocker Reader, that seems to change it's title according to the book i'm reading, so no luck using a window title. To learn the window class, there's not stylus to trigger the event - so i'm kind of stuck..

I have the same phone and same problem. The lack of stylus means i cant use the learning feature of this great app. I have been looking for application names and process names in Task Manager views, but the window title might be different. Is there any way to get this info ?

How can I extend the Application.ini file with correct values?

On a different note: I managed to create a rule to prevent Google Maps from rotating, however if the phone is in reverse-landscape and I press the volume buttons the volume screen pops up in portrait i change the volume then when I return to Google Maps it is rotated to reverse-landscape. if then I turn the phone to portrait and Google Maps will aligns back to portrait and will not rotate again, until I change volume :)

Thanks.

I am having a problem with the Gyrator on my Alltel Diamond. Whenever i install it, everything works fine, even adding new events and i got the phonecalls to stop flipping. BUT, whenever i have Gyrator installed and in use, when i have an incoming phonecall and i move the phone even just a little bit, it will answer. This really stinks because if i answer my phone when my work calls me i have to come in. A couple times i almost had to haul my butt to work, lol. Can anyone help with this? I LOVE Gyrator, but cant use it with this problem.

3. I would also recommend adding a new rule to exclude rotating the dialer. When it goes landscape, it puts many buttons near your ear. If you are holding it tightly between your chin and shoulder (no hands), your ear can hit the hangup button.

I searched a bit more and found the solution. You can find it here. Very detailed instructions. The thing I was not doing was that I failed to choose "Orientation" after adding a new event. I incorrectly chose "Edit Event" and chose orientation there.

I'm wonder that nobody has this wish too, what I'm searching for long time...

I'm searching an application, what can be rotating all thing to landscape mode (so manila too) if I push a button. I need this because if I drive in my car, my PDA is in a vertical cradle. I'm using often navigation and phone in the car.
First I'm assigned the <screen rotation> to the longpress of sendkey (green pickup phone button on PDA). Everything was okay, but when I tried making a phone call, then the phone dialer has jumped to portrait mode. So it is very hard typing a number. It's okay I pressed long the send key again, and the dialer was in landscape mode. If I became a phone call then the screen was right in landscape mode. But when I picked up the call, then the next screen where I can see Speeker, Mute, Keypad, End Call, etc buttons, has jumped to portrait mode too. Grrr.
Second I found this Gyrator. I'm played a little with the settings, but a solution to my wish was unsuccessful. I enabled the rotating of manila too and it works fine. Now If I try to make a phonecall and I press the phone button (or I press my radio, because I'm using it with a BT-radio), then I see, that the PDA (actually the Manila) goes first into portrait mode (why???) and the it will appear the dialer screen, of course in portrait mode! Grrr. It's okay the problem isn't with the Gyrator, because when I simulate this into my hand, and in this case I moving the PDA a little bit, then the dialer will going in the right landscape mode. But in the car in the vert-cradle I can't do this. If I'm (un)lucky and my car goes through a pothole, then this thing is "automatically". But luckily potholes are not everywhere in my country... What can I do.
And of course if all are in landscape mode, and I become a phone call, then first I see the photo of the caller and the Answer or Ignore button in the right landscape mode. But when I press to Answer the next screen will appear in portrait mode. Grrr. Again with the non-automatically option I can rotating it to landscape mode. But after I finished the phone call it will appear the dialer screen (of course in the wrong portrait mode), and after a seconds it will be closed. Then I see the Manila in portrait mode too, but it was before the phone call in landscape mode.
The Gyrator screen show this state wrong too. See my pictures!
Screen01 - Gyrator base screen - everything is okay
Screen02 - become an incomming call - everything is okay
Screen03 - during call - it is in portrait mode
Screen04 - after anding call and a few seconds the Gyrator base screen - it seems that the Gyrator can detect that the PDA is in landscape mode, but if you see the base screen must be ordered like the first pic (Screen01)

I'm sure that the problem is with the phone application. But can I make a rule for the landscape mode in all case?

I have a Blackstone and I'm using it with a rhodium dialer rom.

Please help me!

The lock function works perfectly, but can you configure unlock as well - e.g. on stylus removal ?Its already configured

is it possilbe to add an unlock option without stylus? My Samsung Omnia Pro B7610 doesn't support stylus actions.

I would like to make Gyrator lock my device when put in my pocket (reversed portrait + dark) and to unlock when taken out of my pocket (changing from reversed portrait to portrait + light + previously locked). Are such more complicated rules possible?

Request for the developer: I've used your app for a long time, but without a stylus free learning system, capacactive phones like the HD2 are out of luck. Since almost all new phones are going that route it would probably be a good idea to look into an update to support them.

Heya guys,

Sorry I've not been paying attention to this thread lately. I moved to a Sony Xperia X1 sometime last year, and have since completely left Windows Mobile as it drove me mad towards the end with constant crashing and abnormalities. Simple things like an alarm to wake you up in the morning is nice, and when your phone can't even do that, there's a problem :p

I've moved over to the Android platform now, with an Acer Liquid, so when I've finished things up with my thesis, I'll likely be making programs for it.

As such, it's unlikely I'll be adding new features to Gyrator, especially since I don't have any of the newer devices to experiment with. I do see the problem you are having with the later devices without stylus', but I can't personally think of another way of doing it in a way that won't affect the program you're trying to learn the name/class of.

If anyone can think of a sensible and simplistic/easy to execute method of confirming the learning action, like the stylus was used for, then by all means suggest it, and I'll see if I can think of a way I can implement it. I still have my Diamond to experiment with if need be, but I don't have any of the new devices to work with, so I'll not be able to do all that much.

Finally, I just want to say a big thank you for all the continued support I've been getting from you all reporting problems. I don't think it would have become as large as it has without your support...

So I found BsB Tweaks here on XDA that works really well for rotation and other tweaks with the HD2. Not sure if it would work for other phones.

It handles adding an app by selecting the option to add and app, at which point it backgrounds itself. You then start the application you want to add to the rotation list, and once it's running, shake the phone. BsB jumps back to the foreground with the application added to the list.

Does anyone know if it's possible to use Gyrator to turn the alarm off by simply turning the device over (rotate)?

TIA

how do you disable this at startup? I browsed in file explorer to Windows/Startup and I don't see it in there.

Is there a way to get htc messaging to rotate? If I add a TouchFlo event, it rotates everything in touchflo. I only want HTC messaging to rotate. What is the app name for htc messaging? It already rotates the windows sms / mms by default, but I want htc messaging to rotate as well so I can type on a landscape keyboard.

I'm really appreciating this program. It's working better than any of the others I've tried. I'm using the TMOUS Hd2. I do have a problem though. I tend to put the phone in my pocket upside down. When I reach in and pull the phone out of my pocket, the screen has rotated upside down and it takes a little while to right itself. LOL I tried to prevent the lock screen from rotating itself, but it causes the program to crash. Even after restarting the whole phone, the program continues to crash. The only way to prevent the crash is to actually reinstall the application. So, is it possible to tell the lockscreen to never rotate? Thanks again for the really helpful application. I can barely type on the portrait keyboard so I really needed the landscape keyboard to be present everywhere.

In the next post to yours there is a suggestion : shake the device. Alternatively rotate from landscape to portrait or viceversa. What do you think?

Hi,

I'm just getting into Windows Mobile software development.
Using vb.net and Visual Studio 2008 Professional
I can form my app into portrait or landscape

I'd like to monitor the gyro of the phone and if its in landscape
for my app to display in landscape.

Just wondering if you have this is a control or .dll form so I can query and monitor via my own app?

Else a way for Gyrator to log changes in perhaps the registry.
And my app could monitor the registry?

Also when my phone is in landscape position and I start Gyrator 2,
Gyrator 2 recognized the phone is in landscape,
but Gyrator 2 itself is still displaying in portrait.

HDC HD2

Thanks,
Barry G. Sumpter

Is there supposed to be sound on the Gyrator 2 - Demonstration video?
http://gyrator.brins0.net/?page=videos
YouTube post says no. OK.
Just thought there might be some verbal instruction describing how to use the event settings etc.

I have just come across Gyrator, which I'd like to use for my HTC HD2. Given that the HD2 doesn't have a stylus, how do I get Gyrator to auto-detect the class name of running apps' windows?

For instance:

(1) The built-in IExplore entry doesn't work with Internet Explorer.
(2) I want to disable rotation for Spb Mobile Shell windows.

I have installed this on my touch HD. Can someone advise ow I add an exception.

I assumed it was add event, then edit event. The programme I want to exclude is not in the programm list. How do I add it? Is there a way to navigate to it. Cant see it.

Hi brins0!

Found this app very useful in my Fuze and had it cooked too and modified your CAB to set the option to always hide even after install and added a new shortcut in StartUp.

hideOnLoad,1

I have little request though because I notice your form shows up first before hiding causing some tearing which is a bit ugly. I wonder if you could make some update on your code? I willing to help you out in case needed.
