Registry is ok, you don't have to change anything. "Is enabled" is to enable GPS logging, not GPS itself.

but I think I have to deactivte GPS Logging. So should I change "Is enabled" to 0?

Yes, you can do that. Although I believe it's not necessary, because GPS logging is already disabled via AdvancedConfig (logfile is empty, old logfile name is empty, maximum size of logfile is set to 0).

I tried tomtom and igo and both have the problem of lag.
I have tried Amigo, the version of igo for pna, it's not nice as igo but do not have the lag
is the only solution :(
now I can finally use my raphael as a navigator :o :)

Hello together,

I found a exe to bring the GPS back into factory settings. This worked excelent for me.
I had the problem, that after about 15min my GPS sudenly lost the fix and with it any signal from the satelites. The only way to bring the fix back was a software reset.
But after executing the exe from T-Mobile everything worked fine again.
I don't know if the exe only works on T-Mobile branded Phones (I have one) but I think not.
Have fun.

Greetings Pudl

I had the same problems with my touch pro , GPS , max 2 sattelites , no fix ,
so what is did :

1) i did the registery tweaks mentoined here in the beginning

it helped a bit but far from perfect

2) i upgraded the radio rom to 1.14.25.05 - Mirror - Newest Raphael Radio (04-13-09)

tried again and , i got within 15 seconds 6 fixed satelites
tried google maps , and it connected directly to the sattelites , got my fix ; started walking around and it reacted almost instandly , wel abou 5 seconds and you see the arrow move a bit on the map, turning around also about 5 sec before it got your possition . so for me its a good working GPS now.

i use the energy 2 series ROM now with the registery tweaks for GPS and radio rom 1.14.25.05 - Mirror - Newest Raphael Radio (04-13-09)

Trie this perhaps your problems are solved

I hope it helps a bit

Does anyone know the difference between PollInterval setting and Baud rate setting. What does each of them control? Is there at least a theoretical way to achieve the best combination of those two settings?

Best setting is provided by HTC = default.:)

Please tell me you are outside when your having these problems. The gps in these phones is no hyper-sensitive. You pretty much will NEVER get gps indoors with it. Unless you in a shack on top of everest 5 miles above the rest of us. I have not ever had a problem, besides the delay. It always (with clear window) lock up eventually. I geocache almost daily (just got laid off from lucent) and as i have said i have 0 problems.

Sometimes i just picture someone sitting in their bedroom turning gps on going

SEE IT DONT F*CKING WORK!!!!

hahahah

i belive poll ininterval is Pulse Per Second

im using sygic mobile 7.1 with 2009 benelux map and have the latest original htc rom with 1.11.25.01 radio and my gps has a fix of at least 6 sattelites within 20sec! no problems at all, just a little lag while driving but its minimal.

I'm sorry, but that statement is just not true. For most people there is minimal lag when using a recent ROM and a recent radio. People have reported good results with TomTom and Garmin.

I personally use Garmin and it has about the same lag that I had with iGo.

Most programs should be usable. I don't even mess with the registry settings anymore and I get the same results when using a recent ROM and radio.

I have used every official ROM for Raphael and I must say this method make GPS works the best using GPS Test. Im not even talking about the lag, just the fact that the GPS engage with satellites very fast consistantly no matter what ROM im using

With the other methods enabling A-GPS and not deleteing the log files had poor results for me.

Hello, first i'm sorry but i did not readed whole topic becouse of lack of time ( im quite in subject but i'm not sure if anyone noticed what i did) Soo i'm using TT (couple of versions betwean 7 to 8) and different maps (NL/Central Europe/Western Europe/Eastern Europe) on all of navcores and maps my TP is lagging (about up to 20m) BUT, only in 3D graphical mode of TTN. When i change view into 2D in TT setings arrow is perfectly associated with my real position, another thing is that 3D view is "skiping" like frog when its moving what is a way different from my experience with Hermes. So maybe jugling with radios and GPS fixes its not the way to pin the problem of lag and there is some graphic issue ?

Has anyone managed to get their hands on a Touch Pro2 yet to see if the same lag problem persists with TomTom?
Now THAT would be some smart research... If the lag persists on a T-PRO II, i think we can conclude TomTom is to blame for poor graphics coding...

Well I have definitely noticed differing amounts of lag between different programs (IGO8, Garmin, TomTom) so that graphics issue might have some merit to it. I was thinking that it could be how each of those programs interprets the GPS code being sent to it by the GPS chip in the phone. I experience hardly any lag with TomTom but Garmin is just terrible. It shows me at least 200ft. behind my actual position and sometimes the screen doesn't refresh for 2 or 3 cycles when it should've refreshed.

I'm using the latest official HTC ROM with Radio 1.14.25.35 and the lag is the same as the older official ROM. However the GPS locks a hell of a lot quicker than it did and it locks much more consistently. At least they've fixed that problem.

I don't know if this is even possible but consider replacing the code thats being sent by the GPS chip in the TP with the same coding in a Kaiser? Don't they have the same GPS chip? I guess someone would have to edit the Radio to do that and thats why I think its next to impossible to do.?.?

What materials will a satellite signal pass through? I am looking to build something to hide my satellite dish and was wondering what I can make it out of.

I have a Diamond2, and the lag is still there. I've tested it under three different ROM's including stock, and three different radio versions, and used both TomTom 7.x and iGO 8.x. TomTom was better, but not by much.

I have and the lag dissappears , except a small amount of lag in Garmin XT which is visible on the PNA for my car also. However the static lag (when stopping and starting + speed) is als fixed with external GPS..

fixed the lag on my touch pro 2... with igo 8.0

takes about 10 seconds to get a fix, thats nice =D

(previously, it's really hard to get a fix)

I think it is specifically related to TT7, no sattelite at all, it seems almost like it does not enable the GPS, while gpstest 1.04 on the same position gets a sattelite immediately

Excelent!!

Registry tweaks applied and the problem is gone!! Very fast sattelites fix (11 !!!). In warm boot Just took 5 secs to fix them and in cold boot almost 20 secs.
Mostly of time it's just received 8 sattelites before to apply the tweak.
In my opinion is amazing! :D
Tomorrow i'll do a test driving around and i'll post the results here.
As you can see (pic attachment), i'm using tomtom 7.915 with maps 830.2306 (western europe) and driving using GPS i allways got a couple secods of lag... let's see tomorrow with this new trick. :)

Thank you buddies!!

Has anyone tried these post Fuze rom update? I'm running A-GPS on since the update but have not reapplied the regedits or disabled the logs. Do the logs serve a purpose now?

TIA,

A lot of people have problems with the TouchPro GPS especially for pedestrian use...

From stock the TP GPS is quite unsable in car especially with TomTom 7 and totally unusable for pedestrian use.

After 2 weeks of reading and testing tweaks, here are the results of my tests and the applied tweaks to enhance the GPS performance

A. With Advanced config 3.2 http://www.touchxperience.com/fr/outil-de-configuration-avancee/telechargements/40-advanced-configuration-tool-downloads/9-advanced-configuration-tool-32-cab.html

1. disable A-GPS
2. disable GPS logging
3. logfile name must be empty
4. old logfile name must be empty
5. maximum size of logfile must be 0
6 delete the files : \windows\GPSLogFile.txt and \windows\GPSLogFileBack.txt

7. it seems that if TomTom is installed on a fast microSD decrease the lag(have to test to be sure)

With those changes car usage will be quite perfect

B. Then edit registry with TotalCommander http://ghisler.fileburst.com/ce/tcmdpocketarm.cab

Under: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\

- Drivers\GpsOneDevice\PollInterval -> 100 (default is 1000)
- Drivers\InputBufferSize -> 512 (default is 4096)
- Drivers\OutputBufferSize -> 512 (default is 4096)
- Drivers\SleepOnNoData -> 100 (default is 1000)
- Multiplexer\MaxBufferSize -> 512 (by default not present, you have to create it)

Tests to be done with buffers at 256...seems to be a little better
Tests to be done with other PollInterval value...seems to "drain" battery

With those tweaks pedestrian usage will be much better but not perfect...I explain.

You have to walk for a least 250m in order to have a reposition with mouvement on the map (before that, speed is always 0km/h) and then if you continue to walk there is quite no lag...and the speed reflect reality

...BUT if you stops you have to walk again for a least 250m in order to have a reposition with mouvement on the map and then if you continue to walk there is quite no lag...

Very strange indeed...

I hope this will help people...please test and feedback.

PS : tests were done with

Problems:
- 1 - 2 sec. gps lag
- open google maps -> no sat fix ->
- open google maps -> get sat fix -> found my location -> gps stops tracking/loses fix
- open google maps -> get sat fix -> found my location -> Instantly soft resets (now thats frustrating.)
(For the most part all of this happened randomly even after a hard reset with and without "tweaks".)

I installed the HTC GPStool from post 71. It now seems to get a fix and keep it reliably. :)
-I have my location on (phone settings)
-Applied tweaks from post 1.
-Open External GPS in settings. in Programs tab I have com 4, in Hardware tab I have port=none and Baud=4800
-Make sure I have a data connection.
-Have Updated QuickGPS. (Seems to not always be necessary)
-installed the GPStool mentioned above.
-Open GPStool and make sure to set to com 4, baud 4800, clear memory, tap "open". Wait approx 10-15 secs. tap "stop".
-Change clear memory to warm start, tap start, tap info tab, location/sat info appear after 1-2 sec., tap satellite tab, verify sat signal.
-Close GPStool (seems to speed up display for google maps, make sure x is set to close not minimize too!)
-Then imediatly open Google maps and it connects and tracks me fine with the exception of the 1-2 second lag (seems to update the map every second, so kinda choppy going 50+ mph.)
This has worked EVERYTIME after a soft reset. I have only had a problem once (no sat fix). I did a soft reset. did this procedure again and worked fine!

Hope this Helps Someone.

Im using TT7. I can work round the postion lag by turning off the auto zooming and then zooming out by 1 on the main navagation screen. This doesnt nothing about the actual lag though, it takes anywhere up to 7 seconds for the speedo to reach 0mph once ive come to a stop.

No problem getting a lock though, which is nice :)

The GPS Mod Driver (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=571266) can fix lag and more..

So....to the peopel who use the htc touch pro for gps. what exactly have you done to get it to work? Have you just tried what is on the first page?
I was stuck somewhere and attempted to use my gps to get me home...pffft waited over 10 minutes for a bloody lock, nothing. Useless piece of junk!

Just upgrade your radio. The gps was crap for me on the stock 1.02 radio, but has worked well with 1.12 and later radios. I don't have data and so don't use a-gps, and I rarely have to wait more than a couple minutes on a cold boot and usually only 15 s on a warm one. Just update quick gps once a week, and get a program that locks well. Navicomputer is actually the fastest locking program I've tried (I also use gps viewer).

I had the problem with locking GPS Satellite as described in 1st post above. I always could see 2 - 3 sats but couldn't lock them, and finally they started to disappear from my GPS Viewer.
I tried many things/tweaks - including one ststed above - but I can't still solve the issue.
So, i search more reading in this forum and find out that HTC had made a hot fix for GPS issue - hard to find location. Yes, it's true that the hotfix is for GSM (mine is TP CDMA). but I read more and find that the hotfix is only for clearing the cache or somethinga nd maany people have tried this on TP CDMA and got positive result.
So, this is what I've done:
1. Leave the setting standard.
AGPS - enabled
Log file : Windows/GPSLogFile.txt
Old Log File : Windows/GPSOldFileBack.txt
Log size : 32000 bytes
2. Download the hotfix from HTC website (in .exe)
Sorry I don't have the link, search it in google
3. Install, soft reset and run the GPSViewer. Satellites (6 - 11) were locked in less than 1 minute.

I use WM6.5 NFSFAN. I leave the ext GPS setting as standard (com4, baut 4800, etc.)

Thanks to poster who remind me about the hotfix.

Hi
i updated the radio to 1.17.25.19 blackstone and rom to first timolol and then energyROM Phoenix 2 21885, with all tweaks and gpsmod driver but the lag is still there.
Any suggestions?
P.s. GPSmoddriver got me ahead of my location, and every 5 secs is would jump backwards
thanx

Hi all,

I use HTC gps tool V1.3.2.41d (std. app in the Energyrom).
I use my GPS in the Netherlands all the time and it works flawlessly.
When in Spain my GPS finds only 1 satellite of 16.
When using HTC gps tool to scan for satellites it found 9 satellites in just 2 min. in fixed mode. After this the GPS worked pretty good. When no satellites were found (using Sygic mobile maps 10), i started the GPS tool and satellites were found.

Hope this helps for some.
