sun_dream's rom support has flashlite 3.1 and PIE 8.12 and you can watch youtube with it. Also in AKU 1.4 microsoft added scrolling like touchflo one by default. Youtube work a lil slow but i have solution for watching youtube on Blueangel (this is for all devices which have slow device memory chips):

You need Advanced configuration tool by schaps (and .net 3.5 CF in order to run it)

Set Interent Explorer temporary folders to Storage Card - you will have to reboot so the changes can apply

Open youtube, search and play the video you want, tap and hold on the video and select full screen, then click pause and wait video to load at 100% then play it - you may notice it does not skipping at all

Why video is skipping (my theory)? it is because the Blueangel have slow chips for internal memory and playing videos from youtube is device memory and cpu intensive process. Youtube works like this: you download the flv video to temporary folder, flashlite allows you to play it before it is finished downloading but it takes resources from internal memory chip, CPU for flashlite and PIE and the device becomes irresponsive for some time and this does the skipping in streamed video. when the temporary files are in the sd card PIE no longer uses the slow device memory chip but the faster SD memory chip which speeds the process a lil. Also with waiting for video to load it is now on the sd card and the resources needed to play it are much less. Something like when you play regular video from the sd.

I hope there will be fixes in future builds for PIE in order to make it more responsive when playing flash content but for now this temporary fix works. Also it may work better if we have ramdisk and place the temporary internet files there (just a thought)

p.s. The process of watching videos from internet is very much battery intensive, so do not wonder what eats your battery power :)

great ROM but I have two problems, both related to WiFi:

1. Internet over WiFi doesn't work. It's works OK if I'm connected over GPRS or ActiveSync, but when I connect over WiFi IE & e-mail accounts don't work - it's like they don't recognize that there is a connection available. I've tested the connection with VxUtil (http://www.cam.com/vxutil_pers.html) and it works fine (ping for instance works).

2. I can't get the Wireless Manager icon displayed on the Today screen. I've tried enabling it with the Advance Config Tool but even though it says it's enabled the icon is not displayed.

Another observation (not such a big problem) is that the PIN screen is not displayed after device reset.

I hope the above WiFi internet problems can be somehow fixed.

There are some problems with this ROM:

1. Cant active WIFI via Comm Manager, but deactivate is possible!
2. IE loading is very slow and unstable.
3. Better to remove the welcome and demo process..

However this ROM is the fastest after installation all software needed. Great job man!

Thank you for your great ROM. Just downloaded & flashed, and find a minor thing I want to tell you a long time before. The system alarm clock can only play wav file, but not wma nor mp3 files. Cos I don't wanna install any extra application to increase the memory usage. How can we fix it?

just a tip, if your wireless setup required static IP,
1. set static IP for the device first
2. reboot.
3. add the wireless SSID.

hard reset fixed it. I have DHCP enabled on my router so the above procedure was not needed but it is still useful to know - thanks!

sun_dream: looking for the updated V2.11 ROM. :) I don't know if this is related but GSM locked up on me today when trying to make a call (the GSM portion of the phone locked while the rest of the OS was still responding).

In both the version 2 and 2.11 rar packages, there are only 2 initial items: the nk.nbf file and a Zipped archive entitled "Copy to [DIR]Windows.rar". The archive contains 7 .dll files.

In previous update packages...and I'm looking looking at an earlier 6.1ROM I upgraded to in April '08, has the following files in the install folder with the nk.nbf and MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe:

RUU.conf
RUU.dll
I also have these other 2 as well:
EnterBL.exe
GetDeviceData.exe

Do I just keep all the contents in the install directory as is and only replace the nk.nbf with sun_dreams' file?

Also, I imagine that those ziped dll files in his archive get copied over to the Windows directory after the initial upgrade is done and the device as first rebooted up on the new ROM, followed by a soft reset?

Could someone confirm that for me?

Thanks for the confirmation, sun_dream. This build is smoking fast!

So far, wifi tests show similar behavior as in past builds where if you tap on the Wifi icon in the Comms Mgr it won't fire up, but if you select WLAN Settings and tell it to connect from there, it will engage Wifi services.

I am happy to see that on the very first attempt to connect to a private WLAN using WPA2 key connected without issue. I was curious if it would, since WPA & WPA-PSK are the only 2 choices (WPA type), but it did nonetheless.

I am experiencing an interesting problem. We use the Intellisync Mobile Suite client to sync with our corporate exchange servers. Usually, Intellisync sets up the Outlook mailbox itself, so you never have to go into the Messaging app to set up the mailbox. When I first installed it and synch'd, I could see on the main screen that there were 2 unread messages, and after I viewed them and closed the mailbox screen, the status changed correctly on the Today screen. Interesting thing is that if I click on the Mailbox button or Messaging app icons, I get the setup screen directing me to set up a mailbox account, like there's no Outlook mail on the device. :confused: If a new email arrives and it's status is UNREAD, I'll see it on the Today screen as such, and when I click on it I see the new email as well as all the rest I have in my Inbox, however once it's read and I close the app, WM can't seem to locate the Outlook mailbox data again until a new UNREAD msg shows up. Pretty strange.

****Resolved issue****
I got it sorted out. Turns out that the default selected option to "Display account picker when opening Messaging" was the culprit. I reflashed to start from scratch again (probably just needed to hard reset...but just started reflash when that thought came to mind!) and went into the Messaging Options section and deselected that checkbox. After I reinstalled the Intellisync client, it now works flawlessly so far.

But, can u please includes the fixes u made for each version of ROM as well?
It's enable us to keep track with which bug that u fixed from previous version, and what had u added to the new release.

For now, I felt the first page kind of messy because I not very sure what u changed from older version of ROM into the new release ROM.

everytime when i try to upgrade my BA from wm6.0 to 6.1, in the middle of the upgrading, ActiveSync will disconnect between pc and my BA, and then the program told me" can not connect to device", anybody have same problem or know how to sovle this problem? thanks a lot!!!

Thanks for the instructions but that is not what I was asking for (I know how to do it :D). What I asked was if it could be cooked into a rom. I know it takes a tremendous amount of space and I just though if maybe cooking it into the rom (by removing a bunch of stuff of course) could be a better solution. Thanks.

Great Rom, fast and stable, excellent work Sundream.
I have encountered a fatal error message called " Audio data can not be inialized" when I try to open some programs require audio files. Never expereinced this with all older ROMs.

Can any body give some reasons or solutions?

first u read the sun_dream's post carefully the big fonts can be changed by
changing the value of
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GWE\Menu\PopFnt]
"Ht"=dword:4B0 \\\\\\\\ Big menu font
"Ht"=dword:FFFFFFF4 \\\\\\\\ Default menu font

second the IE 8 is of 6 mb so it can not be added to rom.

You have to unzip them directly into the \windows directory. You will not see anything other than vbscript.dll if you do it in a folder in the PC.

I had the same issue (ended up doing a HR). I think it is a problem with Update 16 (cab 0.09). It does not happen with version 14 (haven't tried 15 but I read that a few people have tried it successfully in their BA).

BTW regarding with the taskbar going out of nowhere when you rotate the screen, I copied the shell32.exe to \windows\startup and everytime I reset my phone and tried to rotate the screen, it works fine now, the only problem (well a lil bit tiny problem only) your BA will show an error that SHELL32 is not a valid PPC application. Well its ok instead of going to your memory card looking for that shell32 and also it wont hurt the memory it is only 300k..

u r not getting this because u r changing the value fffffff in decimals so change it to 800 (in decimal)for default small fonts. (fffff is a hex value.)

sorry krishan, this cab makes my BA load slower after a soft reset, when i removed it my BA loads normally already...thanks anyway...so I guess I will be going back to that shell32 again since taskbar fix.cab of sun_dream won't install due to digital certificate problems...

I Hard reset my BA couple of times because it keeps slowing down because I'm doing some test on all the applications I installed before (which is working, all of them) with my old ROM. WHile I was doing this I came accross the very first WM6 for BA by Helmi (I miss Helmi) and on that post it says that you need to install arcsoft mms and mms enabled also but to get this working you got to have this two:

- MMS_FOLDER.XML
- MMS_ACCOUNT.XML

on your device so MMS will work.

I already installed network wizard for automatic network GPRS/MMS/Internet settings but same thing, can't send MMS. But with my old ROM, I just have to install arcsoft MMS and MMS enabled and then run network wizard and soft reboot my BA and then it is working (but that's for the old ROM)

M2D works great with sun_dream's ROM and a lot of other applications. But I have not tried any games yet. WMP works great. But bluetooth have some issues. I already tried SR and HR on my BA but it keeps turning on by itself (Bluetootn, but not all the time) and sometimes I can't turn it off? I tried to sync my BA to my PC (because I do a lot of emailing) but most of the times the connections keeps turning off. I have tried both wired and wireless synchronization. And I have observed also that sometimes I can not recieve any type of files thru bluetooth (sometimes). Sorry for this, but up until now I can't figure out how to make the fonts smaller.

Sorry If I have lots of questions. I am doing my best to visit and read oall the sections here, all the post here (for the record, I've been reading, searching here in xda-developers for almost 3-4 days straight now). I love sun_dream's ROM because most of the settings for S2U is working (but not with my old wm6 ROM) and also sun_dream's ROM has TouchFlo and M2d is working with this ROM and best of all this ROM is freaking FAST!!! So I am just trying to figure out everything and fix problems with your help guys.

I'll update you guys if anything happens again. I'm planning to sell my BA since I already have HTC Touch HD and Samsung Omnia but what the hell..I am keeping my BA because it still ROCKS!!!

OK...V2.22 installed already and as far as I know...no problems yet...and I LOVE the black skinning of the shutdown button, looks more executive, I love it!

But before, I can change the start-up picture to any picture I want but now it can't be changed?

The Dial Pad Skin looks very good with the black-green combination background.

But, I still don't want the Pop up menu Font, it is so BIG and the labels for the menu, since it is in four rows, most of the labels are not complete.

Bluetooth connections are ok (activesync, OBEX, FTP, everything)

WIFI is GOOD.

Task Manager has BIG Icons which is good so there will be no accidentally closing applications that you are using, that's good.

OK...V2.22 installed already and as far as I know...no problems yet...and I LOVE the black skinning of the shutdown button, looks more executive, I love it!

But before, I can change the start-up picture to any picture I want but now it can't be changed?

The Dial Pad Skin looks very good with the black-green combination background.

But, I still don't want the Pop up menu Font, it is so BIG and the labels for the menu, since it is in four rows, most of the labels are not complete.

Bluetooth connections are ok (activesync, OBEX, FTP, everything)

WIFI is GOOD.

But the RAMDISK is very useful, you can install programs on it and get more space besides the 40MB.. Personaly, I'd make it 32MB not 16 :) That way you would get ~70MB for storage..;)

40MB? I have 60MB available after the ROM upgrade. This is enough for programs which must be installed in the main memory - the rest can always go on the SD card...

sun_dream: I guess if you could make two version (one with and one without RAMdisk) this would be the best :)

It looks like you didn't increase your storage size when you first upgraded from WM2003. Actually you have to do it before the upgrade, while you still have WM2003 loaded. If I remember correctly this space in WM2003 is the "extended ROM" space which you don't need anymore in WM5 or WM6.

Preparation of the internal memory (Optional, but recommended)

Since Helmi's ROM uses the SD card are you extended ROM during the installation, you have the great feature of having 16 MB extra storage capacity on your BA.

If you plan to easily revert back to WM2003 or you don't want those extra MBs on your BA, skip the next steps.

If you are already running a WM2005, you can check if you have already 60 Mb of Storage space by following these steps:

Goto Start -> Settings and click on "Memory"
If the total memory under "Storage" shows around 60 Mb you have already the maximum space. Then skip the next steps and continue with "Preparation of the EXTROM Folder".
If the total memory under "Storage" shows around 48 Mb, you have a change to get some extra storage space, but you will first need to revert back to WM2003, then run the tools below as mentioned below and finally install WM2005.
Expanding the Storage memory:

Press "Format now!" and wait until it is done (A few seconds). You will see a message that it is done. (You will get an error message about your storage, just press yes and wait a few seconds.)
Soft reset your BA
Now you have those extra MBs.


Hope this helps. Remember, you will have to downgrade first to WM2003 to make the changes to your storage memory...

Just an idea, but maybe replacing the shellres.96.dll.mui one from another rom might do it. I am unsure if this will actually do it, but I guess it is worth a shot. Hope this helps (or at least guides you in the right direction.

If I receive a sms, screen went on, messaging today plugin will show that a new sms is received and then (1sec later) it turns off. After turning it on i see the reset bars, R and G displays "None" instread of the version and nothing will work until a new reset.
Tried with 3 sms, each time it resets itself and the message is lost after that.
Battery was full, tried another one, too (sawn that in another thread)
What can cause this problem? 0.o

I have had random resets by my device for a while now. I think it might be a problem of WM6.1 in our devices. Could be wrong though...

Usally I don't send sms to myself ^^ I have verified it using free sms services (internet) and my friends mobile, so it seems to be on every sms :)

I have tried only this (WM6.1) rom until now, so I can't say this is an WM6.1 problem. Random resets I don't have, mostly I have seen the new message text before my device turns off. But as I said above this is not the only problem, wifi makes some troubles, too (sometines I can't enable it)

But an small addition: I have done a hard reset (no sim inserted), after inserting sim and powering on, R and G displays "none" again, phone keeps off :/ Seems to be a bug in this rom?

So, after serveral tests anything is now working for me, but I can't get it working with this version.

At least my device resets if I pull it out of the sync station, too. Again, R and G "none" after power on. But after installing another rom (this here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382909)) , my applications, sms alert fix which is needed for that version, sms still works. Well, it's still resetting if i pull it out of the station, but this its better than reset and drop incoming sms.

Seems theres still a bug in wm core?!


EDIT: forget it, after I have sent an sms, the next incoming crashes again. :( Downgrading to 6.0 now

Unfortunately this ROM is not working with external modems over Bluetooth.
For example I can't use my phone with 3G connection to connect to Internet from BA.

The last ROM, which worked with Bluetooth modems was "BA ROM CE OS 5.2.19199 (Build 19199.1.0.0 PV DVH)".

I woul very appreciate if someone can compare what is so different between those two ROMs in regard to modem connections.

then extract the attached file to a folder, then extract the ROM file into the same folder. run BaUpgradeUt_noID.exe to do the upgrade, sometimes you have to take out SD card before flashing.

When trying to run the update tools I always get stuck at a connection error (ERROR 101) or country ID error 17-17-25-N-N (ERROR 120); the device is already at boot loader mode) :-(

To test USB, cable, etc. I applied an original update from my provider. This worked fine. BTW, during this update I recognized messages in the task bar -- after ActiveSync was closed down -- that a 'new USB device' was recognized, then the update started and completed successfully.

Those messages I do NOT observe, when trying to update to WM 6.1.

Any ideas, hints, ...?!?

BTW, accessing the device with MTTY and creating an image on SD card works fine either.

Did you try enabling wifi from both comm manager and connections menu? After a soft reset, I usually have to enable from both for it to work normally. Then it works perfectly afterward.

If wifi is set up and working do Settings > Connections> Connections >Manage Existing Connections> Advanced and set "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:" to 'My Work Network'.

Loving this rom, seems fast and stable and I think the large fonts and notification add on is great (Where you hit an icon in the notification area and it brings up a pop up as in the screenshot below)

which version exactly are you using? I have sun_dream's 20755 and my battery lasts 2-3 days... Do you have any applications loaded which might be draining the battery?

I've been using it for a few weks now.... my report.

-Quite fast (for a 6.X) and stable.
-Same ol' wi-fi bug
-An annoying bug is that when I change my tone to vibayion, it does not change back to ring when I want to, I have to soft reset for the change to have effect.
-I have some temp files being buid up from time to time, I have to use a memory cleaner to erase them (does this happen to anybody else?).
-Notifications sometimes don't sound (and no red light to announce them)

Beside these bugs (minor to me) 3rd party software runs quite well (skype, windows live, google maps, etc)

Thanks a lot for this great ROM and for keeping my BA up to date.

- HTC Audio Manager 2.0
- google maps
- HTC enchasement
- HTC Album 2.5
- JBED midlet manger
- TTN 7
- OPERA 9
- HTC MANILA 2D
These CABS are from Xplode HTC Stuff for BA updated 1.10.2008.
it works fine and stable. it work goods also with ttn 7 and no crashes.
only the battery discharge very fast, before I flashed xplode 6.11.00 wwe and never had this problem. I think may be the beam, but after test with a pc I had no beam connection, so I think are not beam.

Hi killah3000, if you are running wm6 try hard reset camera+record+power+soft reset 2sec., you get 3 option change the 2nd and the 3th to yes by using camera or record, then press mail button and wait the system reboot. you have a new BA clean.

Thanks for responding. As you correctly said the blueangels were slow earlier, cause even then the pagepool was of a fixed size and a very small size. Increasing it definitely led to a speed boost, but again it is a fixed size. If it is made dynamic, the device can use pagepool upto the extent of the ram available as and when it requires. cant remember where i read the article on dynamic pagepool for the touch and actually implemented it and it is working extremely well. Thus came up with the idea of experimenting with the same on my BA.

I followed the link you mentioned but cant seem to find the address mentioned therein, on the rom i am using (sundream / swampy). Hence am back to square one, just need the address to go to and the change to be made to make pagepool zero,.

i had a few lock-ups. Anyway, taskbar is great and the interface is very finger-friendly. i just don't like the way the fonts are rendered and the icons are too compressed. I would really like to have a sun dream basic rom if he will release one. His ROM build is ahead of all others.

Yes, I did convert nbf to nba before opening it with the hex editor. Infact have gone through several posts on different sites and tried all the possible addresses, but none of them yield anything remotely like a pagepool address. My guess is that in this particular ROM the pagepool address is at another location. Probably sundream would be the person to help out.

* xda3nbftool.exe -x nk.nbf nk.nbh 0x20040521 to convert to nk.nbf

* open nk.nbh with pagepool changer posted by BA_Flash_GOD

* since I couldn't change the pagepool to 32 or 48MB with this program I used the adress supplied in the bottom row ie: offset: 2555d2 and used xvi32 hexeditor and supplied this adress in the goto menu.

* at this adress you will find 00 00 00 01 with the underscored zeroes marked. This means 16MB page pool. 8MB is 00 00 80 00 for example and if you want 32MB it's 00 00 00 02. 48MB is 00 00 00 03.

* save the nk.nbh

* use xda3nbftool.exe -c -u nk.nbh to update checksum

* then xda3nbftool.exe -x nk.nbh nk.nbf 0x20040521 to convert back

* flash

Check if the trick works by checking the total program memory in the memory settings. ~109MB = 16MB pagepool ~93MB =32MB and ~77MB = 48MB

Worked for me with the PV.HAT rom aswell as xlodes

I 've 2 questions:

1. Until I installed this ROM and its worked properly - I couldn't install any program with Active sync. Another way (CAB) is OK, but...
The connect is ready and the install method is look like correctly, but when the PC finished message is appeared: Look your PDA's screen to continue on PC - the ppc is blinking once and still wait. Nothing happend. It works normally and no freezy no any problem, but no installing.

2. Until my previous intalled ROM (Helmi's WM6) I lose 30Mb Ram on PPC. (I have Qtek 9090 with 192Mb Ram)
I hoped if installing this WM6.1 ROm it will be prepared, but it isn't.
Now I have: Storage 43.26; Program 83.91; Ram disk 15.96
that's it!
And where is the other Mbs??

In Settings-Personal-Sounds & Notifications- i customize the Notification for event "Messaging: SMS Delivery Receipt". But its seems, that this not work, because Delivery notification always sountds as ordinary SMS (as customized in "Messaging: New text message").

Then I went to the upgrade thing using v3.02 16mb ramdisk. So now I have 60mb internal storage + 16mb Ramdisk (which I used for IE Cache, etc) + 4gb SD Card (2 partitions) and everything works perfect. I know some of you guys said that tweaking the pagepool will increase the performance of the BA, I have read that somewhere, but does it really does improve the performance of your BA? What about removing the ramdisk? Is it nice to have some extra storage and a dedicated storage for IE or other browsers like skyfire? And another thing, the start-up logo for this ROM does not look great (sorry sun_dream), you know that upside down triangle, that is why I am using this

there is noone know exactly to what best pagepool size to use for BA, for the default size pagepool of 2 or 4MB, would not run well on BA.

RAMDisk is a mist, in the past, users complains that RAMDisk cause the system to sluggish, and some sort it's ok.

personally,I dont care much about RAMDisk, but having a reasonable size of pagepool running on BA is surely desired for better system performance.

someone here was talking about dynamic pagepool, trying to change pagepool to 0MB, and let OS or an application to manage it. I have not heard how that goes.

there is noone know exactly to what best pagepool size to use for BA, for the default size pagepool of 2 or 4MB, would not run well on BA.

RAMDisk is a mist, in the past, users complains that RAMDisk cause the system to sluggish, and some sort it's ok.

personally,I dont care much about RAMDisk, but having a reasonable size of pagepool running on BA is surely desired for better system performance.

someone here was talking about dynamic pagepool, trying to change pagepool to 0MB, and let OS or an application to manage it. I have not heard how that goes.

Everything was successfully installed, but everything crawls from boot (10-15 mins) to phone operation (response is slow). The phone stops booting on a soft-reset when battery is low. When i uninstalled manila, my BA didn't boot anymore so i had to hard reset.

I love the enlarged finger-friendly interface (Taskbar and the Soft-Menu) and the microsoft touchflo. It's just that I can't make my Manila 2D blue theme work. Thanks Sun_Dream!

BTW, WOW set-up returned an error (driver not found).

I have been having the same issue. It only happens with any version of Manila over update 17. I think that herg did a few changes over xplode's version and now most updates won't work on the BA.
The slowdown comes from a very large number of files being written to the \Windows folder. Ideally (and I believe that is what xplode did), you want to try to minimize the stuff written to this particular folder since the device reads the files in this folder during start-up.

2. Put that folder on your computer. (anywhere will do)


3. Temporarily remove your SD Card (it may work for you with the SD card still in your BA, but you may not be able to enter USB mode when cradled).


4. Put your device into Bootloader mode by pressing and holding the "Power" & "Record" buttons, and then press the Reset Button.


5. Connect the phone to the sync cable/cradle.


7. Now you can execute the installer file. (BaUpgradeUt.exe) You will see this window:

8. When the upgrade is completed, you must perform a Hard Reset.



When the bootscreen, aka. the colored stripes is displayed, wait more, you are booting. The welcome screen to set up your device will appear shortly ...

Has anybody an idea, or solution my problem?
Until I installed this "CORE-Build20758WWE(v3.02)[Final ]" and after CORE-Build20758WWE(v3.02)[NoRamdisk] a cannot install any program with active sync and now when i intalled this newer version (10.31.08 / 6.141WWE) cannot install via cab too...
But the ROM and included programs and functions work properly.

Ok, NEW PROBLEM.

I hard rest my BA last night because it was crawling when M2D was installed, it does not matter what version it is, inside M2D it works fine but using other apps it takes time to load it and close it. So I finally decided not to use M2D anymore with my BA, I will just used the old HTC Home plugin. And so after I do a hard reset, I installed resco explorer first and soft reset and everything works fine, all icons works fine . The next thing I installed HTC calculator skin, still everything works fine

Then I installed HTC Dialer skin and HTC wait animation and HTC Opal CommManager, soft reset and then here comes the problems...battery indicator does not show its current status anymore (no more percentage of what is left and even I only have 50% batt the indicator is always full)

And most of the time the charging icons never go away even I am done charging (BA is already disconnected from th charger)

Oh and also, under settings>connections>connections>advanced>select network....if I edit a connection, let's day for example "My Work Network" and I seleck proxy settings and if I checked the box for "This networks connects to the internet" and then I pressed ok, if I will go back to that same option the box is still unchecked??? Though I can connect to the internet when my BA is connected to my PC via activesync. But Just last night I went to my friends house and I tried to connect to his Wifi, yes I can connect but the IE won't load any pages...Opera does the same thing even skyfire??? But if I will just update the weather under HTC Home Plugin I believed my BA was able to connect to the internet since it loaded the weather for this week. And also can you upload here the psshutdown.cab with black skin, the one you are using with your ROM? I hope you can address everything sun_dream...thanks man!
